6. HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SEXUAL HEALTH
 Do not let someone pressure you into having sex if
you are not ready
 If you have sex be prepared to protect yourself and
your partner
 If you think your partner has been exposed to an
STI get tested right away
 Ask your health care provider for vaccinations
against HPV and Hepatitis B
 Regularly examine your body/genitals
 Get regular pelvic exams, routine Pap smears and
STI screenings
 Find a health care provider who is comfortable
discussing sexual health.

 STD’s are the most common contagious diseases
in the US today.
 65 million people in the US are currently infected
with an incurable disease
 Each year 18 million people with get one or more
STI’s.
 More than half of the infected people are aged from
15-24
 Women can catch STI’s from infected men more
easily than men from women.

11. PREGNANCY AND STIS
 STI’s can reduce or endanger our ability to become
pregnant or cause complications
 STI received while pregnant can be passed on to
the baby
 Getting checked in the beginning of the
pregnancies is important to help prevent passing it
along to the baby

12. STAYING AWARE
 It is imperative to be aware about STI’s
 Most STI’s can be cured but they still can cause
damage
 It is important to use protection
 Condoms (male and female)
 Abstinence
 Get tested every year or if you think you may have
had sexual intercourse with someone infected
 Do not be afraid to ask your partner if they have
been tested or have ever had an STI

13. TAKING A STAND ON STI’S
 I think that STI’s are a growing problem
 I think it needs to be addressed more
 Especially at younger ages in:
 Middle school
 High school
 Parents should talk about it more
 Young adults need to be aware of the diseases that
are around and that they are not all cured by an
antibiotic
 Protection such as condoms needs to be enforced
to help reduce the spread of STI’s
 I believe that people having sexual relationships
should discuss sex and protection before having it.
