2. I plan to shoot images for my magazine cover
and film poster at the same time and in the
same location as I want both to be quite
similar to create a sort of „branding‟ for the
film that audiences will recognise.
3. I am going to shoot the images for my
ancillary products in the photography studio
at college.
I have decided to do this as I have the
flexibility of shooting with different colour
backgrounds and being able to adjust the
lighting if I need to.
4. I have asked my model who plays the
protagonist to have her hair down for the
shoot as this will appeal to the male gaze and
will create a sense of continuity as her hair is
down in the trailer.
For make up, I have asked her to apply simple
make up to create a natural look as this will
both appeal to the male gaze as well as
reflecting her character who is very involved
in the action and not too concerned about her
looks in the duration of the film.
5. The main difference between
the two images I am planning
to capture is going to be the
model‟s pose. For the
magazine cover I want her to
mimic Jennifer Lawrence‟s
pose as on the cover of
Empire; looking as if she is
poised ready to jump into
action and looking directly at
the camera.
6. On the other hand, I want the
resultant image for my film
poster to be a closer shot with
my model looking away from
the camera, as if she has seen
something else. I hope to
create an image like the two
on the right, where the
actress is not looking directly
at the camera.
7. I want my model to be in a plain white t shirt
and jeans. I have chosen these items because
jeans are simple and the white t shirt
connotes her innocence as well as being
slightly form-fitting to appeal to the male
audience members.
I decided to have a simple outfit because I
want the main focus to be on the actress‟
face and expression rather than what she is
wearing as this is the selling point for both
items.
8. I have chosen to do my shoot in the studio
because it means I have complete control of
the artificial lighting and won‟t be limited as
to what times I can do it as I won‟t be relying
on natural light.
Having studio lights also means I can adjust
these if I need to which will help when editing
the images in post production and can help
alter the mood of the images.
