same ruler: Alexandru Ioan Cuza. By the election of Alexandru
Ioan Cuza, the Romanian Principalities walked firmly on the
track of modernity. Faced with the accomplished fact, the great
powers will be forced to recognize the act of January 24th, 1859.

6. In 1918 it was celebrated the great dream of the Romanians, the
constituting of the Romanian national state. This was possible due to the
blood tribute paid by the Romanians during World War I (1914-1918).

THE UNIFICATION OF BESSARABIA WITH ROMANIA
Bessarabia was the first territory
whose majoritarily Romanian population
decided its unification with the Old
Kingdom of Romania.
On March 27th/April 9th 1918, the
Council of the Country, has met in the
Assembly Hall of the High School No. 3
from Chisinau, voted by 86 votes for and
3 against the Resolution for the
Unification of Bessarabia with Romania.

THE UNIFICATION OF BUKOVINA WITH ROMANIA
The second territory which has
united with Romania was
Bukovina. In order to make the
Unification proclaimed by the
Assembly since 15/28 October 1918
in complete legality, it was decided
to convene the General Congress of
Bukovina. The General Congress of
Bukovina was held on 15/28
November 1918 in Czernowitz, at
the Synod Hall of the Metropolitan
Palace. On Iancu Flondor's
proposal, the Congress voted with
an overwhelming majority "The Palatul Mitropolitan din Cernăuţi, unde Congresul
unconditional and forever general al Bucovinei a declarat unirea Bucovinei cu
România

THE UNIFICATION OF TRANSYLVANIA, BANAT,
CRISANA AND MARAMURES WITH ROMANIA
The last territory which has
united with Romania was
Transylvania. On Thursday,
December 1st, 1918, a number
of 1,228 elected delegates
gathered in the hall of the
military casino from Alba Iulia
(The Unification Hall) and other
over 100,000 people were
gathered on the plateau behind
the city, on the place called
today Horea's Field . The crowd
enthusiastically sang "Awake,
Romanian" by Andrei
Muresanu and all asked for
"Unification or Death!“ The
Proclamation of Unification was Alba Iulia - The Unification Hall
