7. (6) Describe the interference pattern produced by light going through two slits one photon at a
time as it might be recorded by photographic film. Discuss how this helps interpret the dual
nature of light and how it relates to the wave function of the photon.
Solution
Interference is phenomenon where the rearrangement of light has been done or in other words
the
combination of different wave to produce resultant wave. If both the wave are in phase then it
will add up and
produce the bright fringe or if they are in different phase then they will cancel each other and
lead to prroduce dark fringe.
Initially in ray optics we have considered the light has nature of ray that means light move in
straight direction
but when we have seen the phenomenon of interference we come to know that light has small
particle known as photon which travels in the form of wave.
That means light has wave nature whcih is othe nature of light.

7- (6) Describe the interference pattern produced by light going throu.docx

  • 1. 7. (6) Describe the interference pattern produced by light going through two slits one photon at a time as it might be recorded by photographic film. Discuss how this helps interpret the dual nature of light and how it relates to the wave function of the photon. Solution Interference is phenomenon where the rearrangement of light has been done or in other words the combination of different wave to produce resultant wave. If both the wave are in phase then it will add up and produce the bright fringe or if they are in different phase then they will cancel each other and lead to prroduce dark fringe. Initially in ray optics we have considered the light has nature of ray that means light move in straight direction but when we have seen the phenomenon of interference we come to know that light has small particle known as photon which travels in the form of wave. That means light has wave nature whcih is othe nature of light.
