International Air Training Community to Gather at Military
Flight Training Event in London This February
LONDON-- With austerity measures having begun affecting defence budgets
across leading coalition partners, international defence forces are beginning to
find it difficult to finance the requirements they face in upgrading their air training
capabilities to meet the demands of next-generation warfare.
Senior military and industry experts on flight training for fast-jet, rotary wing,
multi-engine and UAV platforms will discuss cost-effective measures in
delivering best practices throughout the training pipeline at the 10th
anniversary
of Defence IQ’s Military Flight Training conference
(www.militaryflighttraining.com), taking place on 8th
-10th
February 2011. In
addition, experiences in balancing class-room, simulated and live training
initiatives will be offered by the senior military leaders speaking at the event.
The 10th
anniversary of Military Flight Training will open with a keynote
presentation from Air Commodore Andrew Sudlow, Director of Flying Training for
the Royal Air Force and a key figure in implementing UK MFTS. Air Cdr. Sudlow
will provide a briefing on the direction of the UK MFTS program and the impact of
the SDSR on flight training initiatives. Air Cdr. Sudlow will hold the presentation
together with Sir Barry Thornton, the managing director of UK MFTS lead industry
partner, Ascent Flying Training.
Speaking about the event, Colonel Paul Keddy, Air Advisor and part of the
Canadian Defence Liaison Staff in London said: “The event provides a welcome
opportunity to engage with global military flight training commanders and
experts”. Leading the Canadian delegation at the event is Brigadier General Rick
R. Pitre, Commander of the 2nd
Canadian Air Division.
This event will examine the emerging requirements of leading military flight
training programs and the steps being deployed to prepare forces for the reality
of coalition operations in-theatre. Recognised as the world's leading event for the
global military flight training community, the event hosts commanders of leading
flight training initiatives including ENJJPT, AEJPT, AJeTS, NFTC and UK MFTS
amongst others.
