William Shakespeare was born in 1564 in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England. He had a wife and three children and spent most of his career as an actor and playwright in London, writing 36-37 plays and 154 poems. Some of his most famous works include Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and Macbeth. He contributed many words and phrases to the English language that are still used today. Shakespeare died in 1616 at the age of 52 in his hometown of Stratford-Upon-Avon.
