5. ~ How it works ~ The blades are tilted, to make the rotor turn. When wind hits them, it pushes the blades in a (usually) anti-clockwise motion. The motion of the rotor turning causes a series of gears to turn. The motion causes a generator to turn, making electricity. The most common form of wind turbine is the 3-bladed form, because it reduces stress on the tower.
