2. Market Research
• Market research is used a lot in the music video industry because the producers and
the artists want to get the most views as possible so websites such as BARB.co.uk
are a good thing to use because it shows the stats of all theTV channels, this gives
the producers a guideline to where they will market the product.
• The results that where gathered shows that not many people watch music videos
onTV now because of the invention ofYouTube and other streaming sites that
make it easier to view music videos on the internet.
• When doing my research for marketing I looked at similar genre songs to see how
they where marketed and how well they where doing for themselves this gave me
an idea of how I should market my video and the results that I should achieve.
3. Audience Research
• Audience research has shown that the pop genre is the most viewed genre
onYouTube and onTV, this is good in my case because the music video I am
doing is in the Pop genre.
• Audience research also showed me what people would be expecting in a
pop music video giving me further ideas to what can make my music video
the best and very likeable for all of the audience.
• With this research I was also able to gather information on props, costume,
location and mise-en-scene.
4. Audience Research
• We also conducted a vox pop and focus group to the audience members
who have watched our music video to try to get information on how we had
done and what could be improved.
• This was very helpful because it told us what we could improve next time we
do a similar project. MusicVideo

5. Production Research
• Production research was very important for this project because it made up
most of the music video, I have decided to rent out all of the equipment I am
going to use because it will work out cheaper then buying all of the
equipment, it also a way of using professional equipment at a cheaper cost.
Two cameras are going to be rented to increase efficiency of the production.
6. Production Research
• A main part production research was location scouting which was my job as
I found the location in which I wanted to film my music video and how I
wanted the mise-en-scene to look. I also used story boards to help produce
a image of what the project will look like and what I could change, this is
very helpful because it allows for things to run smoother when filming on
the day.
