National Institute of Ayurveda was established on 7th Feb
1976 by Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India
Aims & Objectives
• To promote the growth & development of Ayurveda
• To promote graduate & post graduate in all branches of Ayurveda
• To conduct research on various aspects of Ayurveda
• To provide medical care through Ayurvedic systems of medicine
to the suffering humanity
• To provide & assist in providing service & facilities of highest
order for research, evolution, training, consultation & guidance
to Ayurvedic system of medicine
• To conduct experiments & develop patterns of teaching under
graduate & post- graduate education in all branches of Ayurveda.
• NIA is an apex Institute under the Department of AYUSH for
promoting the growth and development of Ayurveda as a model
Institute for evolving high standards of teaching, training,
research and patient care and also to invoke scientific outlook to
the knowledge of Ayurvedic System of Medicine.
• The Institute, an Autonomous Body under Department of AYUSH,
Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, is
registered under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958.
• An independent Ayurvedic College was established in August 1946
by the Government of Rajasthan and this College was merged to
form NIA in February 1976.
• After its establishment in 1976, the Institute had grown
tremendously in the field of Teaching, Training, Research, Patient
Care etc. as a result of which it has now
14 Specialties for PG Course
9 Specialties for Fellowship Program leading to Ph.D.,
Diploma Course in AYUSH, Nursing & Pharmacy.
IPGT & RA
(Institute Of Post Graduate Training & Research In Ayurveda)
• GAU located in Jamnagar Gujarat
• On July 1st 1946 Jamnagar college for Ayurveda studies was
established & named as Shri Gulab kunwarba Ayurveda
Mahavidyalaya by G. k. Ayurveda society
• 1st principle  Vaidya Yadavji Trikamji
• After independence in 1947 Govt of India started to work for
revival of Ayurveda & made few communities to establish
institution of Ayurveda
• In 1954 Govt of India started a premier research center for
Ayurveda in Jamnagar named as “Central Institute For
Research In Indigenous System Of Medicine” (CIRISM) with
Dr. P m Mehta as director.
• In 1956 Govt of India started (PGTCA) Post Graduate
training Center for Ayurveda with Vaidya Bhaskar V Gokale
as principal.
• In 1963 Govt of India & Govt of Gujarat jointly decided to
amalgamate 3 institutions viz Shri G A Mahavidyala,
CIRISM, PGTCA & named its as IASR
(Institution for Ayurvedic studies & research)
• Now in all subjects PG Ayurveda & PHD Ayurveda in
university

(Banaras Hindu University)
• BHU  internationally reputed temple of learning .
• Situated  Holy city of Varanasi
• Varanasi  Oldest living city of world from sushruta 500 BC
• Sushruta samhita is a living testimony of contribution to medical
education that originated in Varanasi
• In 1920 established with the department of Ayurveda under
faculty of oriental learning & theology (1922-1927)
Under influence of Pandit Madan Mohan malviyaji; seth
Mathuradas Visanji of Bombay donated a 1.5 lakh for Ayurvedic
college.
• In 1924-1925, Ayurvedic Aushadhashalaya established, prepared
medicine, teach Ayurvedic students the formulations & make
formulation for affordable price
• Jan 1924 laid foundation of Ayurvedic hospital in Banaras
• 1960 Ayurvedic college converted to college of medical science
with professor K.N.Udupa as founder principle; 10 departments
• PG institute of Indian medicine (1963) was merged with institute
of medical science established in 1971 (PG AYU)
• In 1978 bifurcated faculty of Ayurveda & faculty of medicine to
facilitate their independent growth.
RAV
(Rashtreeya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth)
• RAV established on 11th Feb 1988 with major objectives 
promoting knowledge of Ayurveda & started regular functioning
since 1991
• The affairs of Vaidyapeeth are managed by its governing body
consisting of 16 members including presidents as per
memorandum of associations & orders of Govt of India
• RAV initiated course of member of RAV in an effort to revive the
traditional method of guru kula system of informal education of
India i.e Guru Shishya Parampara to Ayurvedic graduate after
formal education
• The basic idea of this course is to provide in-depth knowledge &
preparing young scholars proficient in texts of Ayurveda
• Started special clinical practices & formulations possessed by
Vaidas started 1 year course of certificate of RAV in 1998
• Vidyapeeth presently runs 2 courses under Guru Shishya
Parampara they are MRAV (Member) & CRAV (Certificate)
• It appoints Vaidyas as Guru & selects Shishyas having formal
qualifications for 2 courses

  • 3. NIA - Jaipur National Institute of Ayurveda was established on 7th Feb 1976 by Ministry Of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of India Aims & Objectives • To promote the growth & development of Ayurveda • To promote graduate & post graduate in all branches of Ayurveda • To conduct research on various aspects of Ayurveda • To provide medical care through Ayurvedic systems of medicine to the suffering humanity • To provide & assist in providing service & facilities of highest order for research, evolution, training, consultation & guidance to Ayurvedic system of medicine • To conduct experiments & develop patterns of teaching under graduate & post- graduate education in all branches of Ayurveda.
  • 4. • NIA is an apex Institute under the Department of AYUSH for promoting the growth and development of Ayurveda as a model Institute for evolving high standards of teaching, training, research and patient care and also to invoke scientific outlook to the knowledge of Ayurvedic System of Medicine. • The Institute, an Autonomous Body under Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, is registered under the Rajasthan Societies Registration Act, 1958.
  • 5. • An independent Ayurvedic College was established in August 1946 by the Government of Rajasthan and this College was merged to form NIA in February 1976. • After its establishment in 1976, the Institute had grown tremendously in the field of Teaching, Training, Research, Patient Care etc. as a result of which it has now 14 Specialties for PG Course 9 Specialties for Fellowship Program leading to Ph.D., Diploma Course in AYUSH, Nursing & Pharmacy.

IPGT & RA (Institute Of Post Graduate Training & Research In Ayurveda) • GAU located in Jamnagar Gujarat • On July 1st 1946 Jamnagar college for Ayurveda studies was established & named as Shri Gulab kunwarba Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya by G. k. Ayurveda society • 1st principle  Vaidya Yadavji Trikamji • After independence in 1947 Govt of India started to work for revival of Ayurveda & made few communities to establish institution of Ayurveda • In 1954 Govt of India started a premier research center for Ayurveda in Jamnagar named as “Central Institute For Research In Indigenous System Of Medicine” (CIRISM) with Dr. P m Mehta as director.
  • 7. • In 1956 Govt of India started (PGTCA) Post Graduate training Center for Ayurveda with Vaidya Bhaskar V Gokale as principal. • In 1963 Govt of India & Govt of Gujarat jointly decided to amalgamate 3 institutions viz Shri G A Mahavidyala, CIRISM, PGTCA & named its as IASR (Institution for Ayurvedic studies & research) • Now in all subjects PG Ayurveda & PHD Ayurveda in university

BHU (Banaras Hindu University) • BHU  internationally reputed temple of learning . • Situated  Holy city of Varanasi • Varanasi  Oldest living city of world from sushruta 500 BC • Sushruta samhita is a living testimony of contribution to medical education that originated in Varanasi • In 1920 established with the department of Ayurveda under faculty of oriental learning & theology (1922-1927) Under influence of Pandit Madan Mohan malviyaji; seth Mathuradas Visanji of Bombay donated a 1.5 lakh for Ayurvedic college.
  • 9. • In 1924-1925, Ayurvedic Aushadhashalaya established, prepared medicine, teach Ayurvedic students the formulations & make formulation for affordable price • Jan 1924 laid foundation of Ayurvedic hospital in Banaras • 1960 Ayurvedic college converted to college of medical science with professor K.N.Udupa as founder principle; 10 departments • PG institute of Indian medicine (1963) was merged with institute of medical science established in 1971 (PG AYU) • In 1978 bifurcated faculty of Ayurveda & faculty of medicine to facilitate their independent growth.

RAV (Rashtreeya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth) • RAV established on 11th Feb 1988 with major objectives  promoting knowledge of Ayurveda & started regular functioning since 1991 • The affairs of Vaidyapeeth are managed by its governing body consisting of 16 members including presidents as per memorandum of associations & orders of Govt of India • RAV initiated course of member of RAV in an effort to revive the traditional method of guru kula system of informal education of India i.e Guru Shishya Parampara to Ayurvedic graduate after formal education
  • 11. • The basic idea of this course is to provide in-depth knowledge & preparing young scholars proficient in texts of Ayurveda • Started special clinical practices & formulations possessed by Vaidas started 1 year course of certificate of RAV in 1998 • Vidyapeeth presently runs 2 courses under Guru Shishya Parampara they are MRAV (Member) & CRAV (Certificate) • It appoints Vaidyas as Guru & selects Shishyas having formal qualifications for 2 courses

MRAV • Retired professor of PG institution or UG college possessing PG or PHD qualification with good academic experience can appointed as guru  MRAV • 70 students completed MRAV course in CS, SS, AS, PK, DG CRAV • Vaidyas of repute traditionally trained with or without any qualification but have excellent clinical knowledge & treatment with Ayurvedic medicine can appoint as guru  CRAV • 143 students completed CRAV course
