As a mentor, my main role has been to explain object-oriented programming concepts, web development concepts, and database concepts to C# apprentices and Java apprentices. I fill in when an instructor is out, and I inject my own personal experiences and adventures into the curriculum when possible. As a professional developer, my main focus has always been on database-driven applications.
