10. What is the purpose of the Business Book Awards?
The Business Book Awards aims to promote Entrepreneurship, Leadership,
Change, Sustainability, Self-development and Diversity in Business.
By creating a platform that inspires excellence in
publishing business books we are opening a niche market
to a wide business audience, encouraging more
entrepreneurs to share their knowledge and experience
as well as encouraging more directors, senior leaders and
business owners to read books.
The awards has built a network of high profile individuals
who are inter-connected, network widely with each other,
reads voraciously and extensively, refer and promote to
each other, buy time-saving and tech savvy services, and
represent the best of dynamic and
cutting edge business in the UK and beyond.
Sponsors of the awards benefit from a unique opportunity
to network and engage with this exclusive group of
influencers by aligning their brand with the awards and by
positioning their organisation as leader in it's field.

11. find it hard to put themselves out there
have less confidence in their knowledge and expertise
fear judgement and criticism
struggle to find the time – and money – to write
feel that writing their book is a selfish use of their time, taking them away
from people who need them in their business and family
In year one of the awards we recognised that although there was an equal split
of entries from both male and female authors, all of our winners were white
males.
Following Subsequent research, the interviews and survey of 50 female
business book authors showed that some of the reasons for this disparity were
that women:
Consequently a challenge was set to encourage more female authors to write
books and submit them for entry to the Business Book Awards. A special award
category for the 2019 awards was created for an exceptional book by a woman.
The Business Book Awards Champions Diversity
Over the past 3 years the awards has taken a stance to champion diversity in
business. We have done this by making sure authors from diverse backgrounds are
given equal recognition for their work.
12. The Business Book Awards recognises the importance of
diversity in business and thus encourages authors to write
more books that support businesses with this subject.
As part of this campaign we have a special category for
an exceptional book that promotes diversity.
We have also used our platform to highlight diverse talent
by interviewing authors from BAME backgrounds to share
their life and business experiences, sharing the various
challenges they have faced throughout their journey.
Diverse organisations perform better, have higher
employee satisfaction and better financial returns, and are
more innovative. There would be a potential boost of
£24bn to the UK economy annually, if employers get race
equality in the workplace right and that is why we want to
ensure there is enough content out there for business
owners to understand the benefits and learn how to
implement better diversity and equality strategies.
The Business Book Awards Champions Diversity
Not only did we champion gender diversity but we have also successfully
succeeded with racial diversity.
13. The Awards receive over 200 entries for books
that are published in the previous calendar year from 1st
January to 31st December.
