The Stoma Care Training Course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enable nurses, carers and support workers to safely and proficiently provide Stoma Care and support to an individual who has a stoma. The Care Training Partnership is a training provider based in Birmingham (UK). We provide a high level of training to improve health and social care provisions.

1. Stoma Care
Course Description:
This course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to enable nurses,
carers and support workers to safely and proficiently provide Stoma Care and support
to an individual who has a stoma.
Course Outline:
• Anatomy of the human intestine; ‘Stoma’, ‘Colostomy’, ‘Ileostomy’ and ‘Urostomy’
• Conditions that may necessitate stoma surgery; the stoma products currently available
• The procedure for fitting, emptying removing and re-applying stoma products
(Includes demonstration and practice on a stoma model)
• The issues involved in caring for an individual who has a stoma and writing an
individual care plan for an individual who requires support to manage their stoma.
Course Duration:
3hrs
Assessment:
The learners will be expected to take part in group work and question and answer
sessions. They will have the opportunity to try out practical skills relating to fitting,
emptying and removing and re-applying stoma products. A collective assessment in
the form of a quiz will be used to assess learning at the end of the course.
Certification:
All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance

The course can be delivered at locations to suit the client or at one of our training
venues
