Objectives:
• Realize the older adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer patients have not had
the progress in research, diagnosis, treatment and survival that other age groups
have enjoyed.
• Explain how the trend may be reversing due to national improvement in
awareness and programs. Identify the groups leading this trend in the health care
industry and private sector and the resources and programs to improve patient
care in this populations.
• Evaluate the AYA oncology paradigm with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL)
and determine how Texas can contribute.
