- 21. 2010 AP Exam Schedule If you are going to be absent from the scheduled AP testing date(s) for unavoidable reasons, notify the Records Clerk in the Counseling Center as soon as possible so that alternate accommodations can be made for you. If you are receiving special accommodations for the SAT I and want the same for the AP exams, notify the Records Room at the time you register for the APs.

College Representative Visits College admissions officers from over 100 colleges and universities visit GP South Listen to announcements for upcoming meetings or go to South’s CRC website To attend a visitation, get a pass before school from the Counseling Center secretary Contacting the college, visiting the college, meeting with the admissions officer, emailing, etc., during junior year can greatly add to your chances for admission when you apply senior year.
- 24. Campus Visits The Office of Admission at Alma college suggests you ask these questions: How is admission to the college determined? How do I have a campus tour? Sit in on a class? Have lunch in a dining hall? Stay overnight in a dorm? Do you have a Career Planning program? What is the school’s overall job placement rate? What is it in my intended major? What kinds of financial aid programs are available? What extra forms do I fill out? Are there any special scholarships offered by the school or its alumni? Can I have a car on campus during my freshman year? What are the dorm facilities like?

- 27. Financial Aid and Scholarships Financial Aid and Scholarship information is available both in the Counseling Center and in the Career Resource Center. Now is the time to start researching options for next year. Register with FastWeb: online scholarship search engine MME exams for juniors are scheduled for March, 2010. The scholarship for passing all three days of testing is still $4000 in state. Be sure to take these assessments even if, at this point, your future plans are unsure.

- Verbal, Math and Writing sections Scores can range from 200-800 per section A score of 1000 (combined Verbal and Math) is considered average for college Add zero to end of Verbal and Math scores on PSAT to compare with future potential SAT scores This test is preferred by the highly selective and eastern schools. Be sure to also register for the SAT II’s per the requirements of the universities you are interested in at this time.
