Dr. Sally Booth provides general, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology services at Booth Dermatology Group in Indianapolis. A strong advocate for many charitable causes, Dr. Sally A. Booth supports the Special Olympics, the American Cancer Society, and Outrun the Sun. Outrun the Sun seeks to combat melanoma and other skin cancers by increasing awareness, promoting prevention, and financially supporting scientific research. Each year, the group sponsors foot and bicycle races and other events in multiple states. In addition to fundraising, race participants take a Sun Safety Pledge and learn how to educate others about sun protection. The Indianapolis Outrun the Sun Race against Melanoma just took place at Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park on June 8, 2013. The upcoming Rochester, New York, race is scheduled for August 2, 2013, at Webster Park. Outrun the Sun also partners with USA Track and Field to reach athletes and their audiences through various outlets. In Dr. Booth's locale, the organization works with the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis to teach children who attend summer camp about sun safety. In addition, Outrun the Sun has established the National Melanoma Research Scholar Program to contribute startup funding to scientists investigating melanoma treatments. To date, the group has distributed nearly $150,000 to scientists affiliated with the Mayo Clinic, the Harvard Institutes of Medicine, and the University of Chicago, among other institutions.
