3. Why should I blog?
To help people
To market or promote a business
To connect with like-minded people
Bonuses:
Blogging costs little or no money
Blogging requires minimal ICT skills
4. Who’s going to read my blog?
It depends on your reason for blogging. Your
audience may be:
Members of a community with common interests
People interested in independent opinion
Clients seeking an informed (or entertaining) view of your
business
(Anyone, really)
5. OK, you’ve sold me!
So what are the rules of good blogging?
• Use a clean and simple theme
• Post regularly (but not if you have nothing worth
posting about!)
• Stick with your blog’s genre, or topic
• Speak to your audience in a language they
understand
6. How do I start?
Free, popular blogging platforms:
WordPress
Blogger
Tumblr
Posterous
7. It’s easy-peasy! Let’s try with WordPress:
Go to www.wordpress.com and register
Choose your user name wisely – you cannot change it later!
Write down your user name and password (everyone
forgets)
Start a new blog and give it a URL or domain, e.g.,
myblog.wordpress.com (This also can’t be changed later,
so what you choose for “my blog” matters)
8. Now you try it
Go to your dashboard (on the left of your screen)
Explore a little
Go to Appearance -> Themes
Try applying a different theme (Easy, huh?)
Go to Posts –> New Post
Write a test headline
Write a test post
Publish
