3. Farm mechanization:-
Introduction:-
India is a vast country covering about 3.29mh
Geographical area.
About 166mh is cultivable land, and net area
sown is about 142mh.
The farm holdings in India are classified as:-
a) Marginal farmers (<1 ha)
b) Small farmers (1-2 ha)
c) Semi-medium farmers (2-4 ha)
d) Medium farmers (4-10 ha)
e) Large farmers (>10 ha)
4. India is producing yearly more than 2.5 lakh tractors, 10,000 power tillers, 4.5
lakh sprayers & dusters, 9.5 lakh pumping sets and 2000 combine Harvesters.
At present Agriculture machinery population in India is estimated at about 150
million which includes about 3 million tractor and other self propelled
machines.
