Child Labour (Sandipan Dutta Chowdhury)
1. Name – Avijit Saha Batch Date – 09.08.2010 Some Introduction Regarding Child labour "Child labour" is, generally speaking, work for children that harms them or exploits them in some way (physically, mentally, morally, or by blocking access to education). BUT: There is no universally accepted definition of "child labour". Varying definitions of the term are used by international organizations, non-governmental organizations, trade unions and other interest groups. Writers and speakers don’t always specify what definition they are using, and that often leads to confusion. India has the highest number of labourers in the world under the age of 14 years. Save the Children is driven to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children, and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. It is our mission to eliminate child labour completely from the society and facilitate the development of children enabling them to reach their full potential. Child Labour is a serious problem. it is increasing day by day only because of a family's financial situation. Uneducated family can also lead to child labour.
2. Child labour and poverty are inevitably bound together and if you continue to use the labour of children as the treatment for the social disease of poverty, you will have both poverty and child labour to the end of time.
3. Our generation has inherited an incredibly beautiful world from our parents and they from their parents. It is in our hands whether our children and their children inherit the same world. We must not be the generation responsible for irreversibly damaging the environment.
4. School feeding is a great tool to encourage education and provide food to children born into extremely impoverished situations. The kids in school being fed by WFP are empowered by their school meal to learn and better their lives!
5. There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace. The greatest gift we can give to our children is to raise them in a culture of peace. Thank you
