There are several social media platforms and online video sites where a target audience can consume a short film product, including:
1. Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest allow sharing clips and promoting the film to generate interest. Facebook specifically allows liking, commenting and sharing of full video posts.
2. YouTube is a popular site for watching videos on any topic and uploading your own films for audiences on computers and mobile devices.
3. Television channels and online platforms like Channel 4's Random Acts and the BBC Film Network provide opportunities for audiences to discover and comment on new short films from emerging filmmakers.
2. SOCIAL MEDIA
In this generation social media is very popular for example producers, industries,
directors promote their film on social media because it's a good way to communicate
and share your work. In fact, it has become so much a part of people's lives that you
can learn someone's life story just by checking.
There are different ways in which my target audience can consume my media product
also know as my short film for example using different social media such has facebook,
twitter, instagram, youtube, pinterest, vine etc.
3. FACEBOOK
Facebook presence can help you engage and grow your
businesses and can help to promote any video for example
sharing, liking and commenting. Therefore Filmmakers can
release their films on facebook and people can like, share and
comment. Also, Facebook is a popular free social networking
website that allows registered users to create profiles. Using
facebook will be a good idea to promote my short film for people
to like comment and share.
4. TWITTER
Twitter is a free microblogging service that allows registered
members to broadcast short posts called tweets. Twitter members
can broadcast tweets and follow other users' tweets by using multiple
platforms and devices. Twitter has a massive audience and these
audience can build, market and entertain any content. Therefore it's
a good way for filmmakers to put a sneak peak of their film on twitter
in other for people to share their film. For my short film I believe
twitter would be a social network to consume my media product.
5. PINTEREST
Pinterest is a social curation website for sharing and categorizing
images found online. Pinterest requires brief descriptions but the main
focus of the site is visual. This is a great way for filmmakers to promote
sneak peeks of video or pictures of their characters for audience to see
and to be able to comment and like before watching the real film video.
6. YOUTUBE
YouTube is a great place to listen to music watch funny videos, On
Youtube you can find videos on any topic and Signing up for a channel
is a great way to talk to people, comment, rate videos and of course
upload videos of your own, which is very fun. YouTube is also being
built in to many new technological devices now, mobile phone's have it
built in, iPod's etc. Therefore audience can watch some filmmakers
videos on their smartphone. Everyone uses youtube and it would be a
good place to promote any type of short film.
8. CHANNEL 4 SHORTS
Channel 4 is a British public-service television broadcaster,
Random Acts is Channel 4's short film strand dedicated to the
arts. It was founded in 2011 to escape the conventions of arts
broadcasting and to expand its possibilities. Random Acts
shorts is a way to reach as many viewers as possible, and to
offer viewers who would never normally go looking for this
kind of work a chance to bump into it and have their curiosity
aroused. Random Acts is an interesting platform that would
consume many product and many filmmakers and industries
many send their short film and people can comment, share
and also like
9. BBC FILM NETWORK
BBC Film Network launched as a trial in January to
promote new British filmmakers and has been growing
ever since. BBC Film Network is a good social network
for new filmmakers and film fans to view exciting new
work, create online profiles and share information with
the creative community. Film Network has developed
links with a large range of partners from within the
industry and is currently working with: short distributors
Dazzle, Short Circuit and many more. Therefore it is
good for filmmakers to go to these events to produce
their film to many producers and industries.
