manage the human element of the
enterprise.
It is a function preformed in an
organisation that facilitates the most
effective use of people to achieve
organisational and individual goals.
Definition of HRM.
• According to Decenzo and Robbins :
“Human resource management is
process consisting of four functions
namely, acquisition , development ,
motivation and maintenance of
human resources.”
Nature of HRM
• Pervasive force.
• Action oriented.
• People oriented.
• Goal oriented.
• Continuous process.
• Multi disciplinary.
• Science as well as art.
Objectives of HRM
• To manage human resources in an ethical and socially
responsible manner.
• To minimize the negative impact on societal demands upon
an organisation.
