6. Public Safety Vests
The ANSI/ISEA 207 public safety vest standard was developed in response to a public safety group demand
for a high-visibility safety vest garment differentiated from ANSI/ISEA compliant apparel. This primary
concern was a need for flexibility of designs that would provide tactical capability not achievable with
ANSI garments. All vests meet revised ANSI/ISEA 207-2011 standard.

7. FR HOODS
General Features
Alliance Fire and Rescue, Inc. uses a variety of fibers to create the highest quality knitted “sock”
style hoods that provide the wearer with protection from flash fire hazards. The 2-ply construction
also adds thermal insulation in cold weather conditions.
All hoods are made from fire-resistant, 2-ply knit fabrics (ranging in weight from 6.5oz./sq. yd. to
8.5oz./sq. yd.) and are certified to NFPA 1971-2007 standard for structural fire fighting. The hood is
20” in total length with a back gusset that allows it to lay flat around the neck. These hoods are
also highly suitable for the industrial and utility marketplace. All hoods can be laundered.
Technora® is a very strong para-aramid
fiber developed and produced exclusively
by Teijin Limited. Strong and light: weight
for weight, Technora® is 8 times stronger
than steel and 3 times stronger than
fiberglass, polyester or nylon yarns.
Shows little loss of strength even during
repeated abrasion, flexing and stretching.
Low thermal shrinkage, i.e., excellent
dimensional stability. Thermal decomposition threshold of 500ºC, so Technora®
can be used at 200ºC for long periods.
At 250ºC, it maintains more than half of
its room temperature tensile strength.
Highly resistant to acids, alkalis and organic solvents; not vulnerable to damage
caused by steam or sea water.
Lenzing FR® can be found wherever
there is a need for flame resistance. The
TPP values of Lenzing FR® are first rate and
it considerably enhances the performance
of aramid fibers. The break open behavior
of protective clothing is improved following
exposure to flames and heat. The skin continues to be protected. Lenzing FR® offers
anyone in the emergency services excellent
protection from 2nd and 3rd degree burns.
And it goes one step further since its physiological properties reduce the risk of heat
stress and heat stroke.
