8. Conversation
Synchronous process that takes different forms
The most important function of a human brain
Thinking is a conversation of two versions of yourself
9. Conversation where you listen
Most people don’t listen, they wait until they can talk
Don’t be like that, listen intensely and carefully
Carefully means actively acknowledge what's being said
Intensely means express your involvement and clarify everything
10. Conversation where you talk
You rarely can convince people by repeating your point
Find the elements of belief system that you share
Ask for acknowledgement of important points
12. Presentation
Also a conversation – with more than one person
Verbal & non-verbal asynchronously: you talk, they listen
The through-line, the structure, and the timing are key
Visualization, level of detail, memes and citations are optional
14. Negotiation
Have a goal, uncover what they really need, don’t aim at compromise
Smile, slow it down, lower your voice, mirror
Use labels, tactical empathy, and silence. Aim for “that’s right”
Neutralize the negative: observe, label & replace
Perform accusation audit
