2. SERVING LOWTON SINCE 1720

3. 1720 Wesleyan ministers from Leigh hold cottage meetings at Lowton Common. 1794 Wesleyans open a Day School also used for preaching services. 1819 Wesleyans abandon the Lowton cause. 1820 Cause restarted as Quaker Methodists later renamed Independent Methodists

5. The Architects drawings reproduced from the Independent Methodist Magazine June 1880 (Page 181) – Foundation Stone Laid 2nd September 1879. School opened 24th January 1880 The chapel was opened on Good Friday 26th March 1880
