1. State of the Union Speech
My fellow Americans, in just one short year, our country has moved forward at an
incredible pace that has never been expected before. America is thriving because the days of
economic decay are over and we are never going back. In fact, the state of our economy will
now always continue to exhibit remarkable strengths, so strong that it is not even on the same
scale as other countries. I stand before you today, to announce that the State of our Union is
stronger than ever before and that the future is looking so bright. We (We the citizens of
America, We the People) are moving forward in the right direction.
America is strong because of our successful foreign affairs and military. We have been
helping Ukraine during this on-going war with Russia. We, the United States of America, will
always stand with the Ukrainian people. We will provide and side with our allies despite Putin’s
unexpected attacks. We create a sense of security and protection. It lets us know that we aren’t
alone. The United States of America’s military is the strongest in the world and our nation will
always stay on top.
Our country is also very technologically advanced, specifically focusing on these past
couple of years . Aerospace Aviation: aeronautics and spaceflight, dealing with the design,
manufacturing, and maintenance of aircrafts or spacecrafts and can be thought of as the
science of flight within Earth's atmosphere as well as outside it. The US is at the top and offers
more than two million American jobs in this field. Aerospace Aviation generates international
trade and economic success for our nation. I would like to introduce Aerospace engineer, Elon
Musk, who has been able to create and lead his rocket science team at SpaceX. He took his
aerospace company to the level of NASA and international space associations. His SpaceX
company has even partnered with NASA. He found ways to make America’s Aerospace Aviation
more technologically advanced by taking it to the next level. We are going to keep it that way.
Our country is so technologically advanced because our education system is considered
the most superior in the world. We provide a rich and wide range of choices for students. These
students are America’s future and they will shape our country. Sitting here tonight is Professor
Paul Nissenson, winner of the 2022 National Best Teacher Award from ASEE. The American
Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) awarded its annual Outstanding Teaching Award to
Professor Paul Nissenson from the mechanical engineering department. Chosen from among a
national pool of nominees, Nissenson was selected for his dedication to teaching and leveraging
technology to significantly improve not only his students’ outcomes but also students around the
world. He is able to impact his students and make them love the content and what they do due
to his creative techniques. We need more people like him in this world that make a difference
every day in America’s future.
The United State’s education system is great, however, we need to lower the number of
school shootings in our country. The United States has had more school shootings than any
other country in the world. There have been 35 this year alone and we severely need to put a
stop to this. Let's continue to make stricter gun control laws to prevent this from happening.
2. Let’s try to provide more training for teachers and students by making them do more drills,
learning different techniques, and watching videos. Let’s provide more security for schools so
they are more prepared in these horrible situations.I know you hear these tragic, traumatic
stories frequently of school shootings everywhere throughout our country, so let’s work together
to improve this. Sitting here tonight is Mitchell Dworet and Melissa Willey, parents who both had
lost their children in a school shooting. Dworet’s 17-year-old son Nicholas was killed during the
shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fl.,in February. A month later,
1,000 miles north in Maryland, Willey’s daughter Jaelynn, 16, was shot to death by a fellow
student at Great Mills High School. One thing unites these two parents: they both had kids in
highschool that had a great future ahead of them and now both of those kids are dead. It is one
thing for you to hear a story of a school shooting and another thing for you to get a phone call
one afternoon and hear that your child was killed. That is something no one should ever go
through. Let’s take this seriously. I am not going to address this issue and then never bring it up
again. This will keep getting brought up until it is fixed. We need to increase safety in the
classroom because we are not going to allow this to happen.
There are a few more things I think our country can improve on. I and many other
Americans can agree that we should raise the minimum wage in America without the dramatic
rise in inflation. One way we could try to reduce inflation is by increasing interest rates. This
helps slow economic growth which reduces consumer and business spending. Congress, I say
you pass the Raise the Wage Act of 2021, send it over to my desk, and I will sign it right away.
This bill was introduced over a year ago. This could have been the solution we have been
waiting for all this time.
While we are on the topic of income, I say we finally decrease the gender income
inequality gap in our nation. In 2022, women earn 17% less than men on average. (for every
dollar men earn, women earn 77 cents) In order to fix this problem, managers should educate
employees on unconscious gender bias and make salaries transparent. If a man and woman
have the same job for the same company, they deserve to be paid the same amount. Let’s
make this bill and get it passed, simple.
This is our moment to meet and overcome our challenges, and we will because we are
the United States of America. We have a long list of everything that is going well in our nation, in
order to add to that list and improve we must all work together. We will all come together
because we are United. We are the United States of America. God bless you. God bless
America. Thank you very much.
