The way we deal with our emotions shapes everything that matters: our actions, careers, relationships, health, happiness and organizations. Getting hooked by our thoughts, emotions and stories inhibits us from thriving. Emotional Agility is essential for success in all aspects of how we love, live, parent and lead.

11. There is nothing more important
to true growth than realizing that
you are not the voice of the mind
-- you are the one who hears it ...
People go through so many
changes in the name of "trying to
find myself." They want to
discover which of these voices,
which of these aspects of their
personality, is who they really
are.
The answer is simple: none of
them. --Michael A. Singer
13. Story is a narrative we tell
ourselves as to who we are
and why? It’s a way to justify
and defend our false self.
Stories are very hard to get
rid of as we are emotionally
attached to them and
consider them as absolute
truth.
15. The hook is usually a situation you encounter
in your day-to-day life. It might be a tough
conversation with your boss, an interaction with
a relative that you’ve been dreading, an
upcoming presentation, a discussion with your
significant other about money, a child’s
disappointing report card, or maybe just
ordinary rush-hour traffic.
16. Hooked
How to tell...
Getting yourself hooked begins
when you accept thoughts as facts
● I’m no good at this
● I always screw it up
● I’m not lovable
● My feelings are bad
● I am a burden
● I am alone on my own
Susan David
17. Between stimulus and
response there is a
space.
In that space is our power
to choose our response.
In our response lies our
growth and our freedom.
18. Watch your character for it becomes your destiny.
Watch your thoughts for they become words,
Watch your words for they become actions,
Watch your actions, for they become habits,
Watch your habits for they become your character,
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
