Increasing the regional production distribution
• To verify the utility of annual plasticulture
production and deliver crop budgets to growers.
• To determine the optimum application timing and
thickness of row covers for open-field production.
• To determine how row covers affect the soil and
canopy microclimate in the open-field.
• To investigate the utility of spring-planted, day-
neutral production in high tunnels.
• To determine how evaporative cooling affects crop
performance and disease incidence (pre- and post-
harvest) for high tunnel strawberry production.
• To disseminate crop production information to
growers in the Great Plains.

Trial Description: The trial will be made up of 48 plots (10’ length) and
designed in split-plot design with four replications. Main plot
treatments are with and without evaporative cooling and sub-plots are
the varieties. The trial will be located on four rows in a three season
high tunnel with 30% shade cloth.
