3. This is when their ears have formed and can start hearing sounds and noises

8. If you haven’t started reading to your child yet, this is a great time to start!

9. Why is it important to read to your child? The sounds that they are hearing will be their foundation of speech! Later on as they age, all the ohhhh, ahhhh, gaaaaas, will become their spoken words

11. Children mock what their parents do, this will help with motivating

12. While reading, if you make a mistake, show your child that you stop, go back, and re-read the passage a little slower

17. Ask them about the characters

20. Then blend the sounds

21. After they have figured out the word

22. Have them define the word

23. If he/she doesn’t know, have them read the rest of the sentence and use clues from other words
