1. OCEANS ARE AT RISK!
The oceans are where life on Earth began and they continue to be the home to an incredibly diverse range of life.

2. Oceans make up over 70% of Earth's surface, but they have always been exploited.

3. It has been estimated that there are around 230,000 different marine species.

4. Fishing is still the leading threat to marine life.

5. But experts are increasingly concerned about the threat of pollution, habitat destruction and climate change.

6. Many species won't survive if the levels of carbon dioxide continue to increase.

7. Over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean.

8. Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world.

9. Plastics kill large fish and marine mammals.

10. MARINE TURTLES
Marine turtles have survived the extinction of the dinosaurs and are still present in the world's oceans today. Hunting for meat, shell and eggs, habitat destruction, have reduced them. Today the existing species are endangered with extinction

11. DOLPHINS
Dolphins are mammals and breathe through a blowhole on the top of their head. Most species live in tropical and temperate oceans. Marine pollution, habitat degredation, sonar, fishing gear are often cause of their death.

12. SEAHORSES
Seahorses are found in temperate and tropical waters all over the world. They reproduce in an unusual way: the male becomes pregnant. They have been endangered in recent years by overfishing.

13. SHARKS
The silver shark is classified as an endangered species over the last ten years based on direct observation and a decline in area of occupancy.

14. MONK SEALS
The Mediterranean monk seal is one of the most endangered mammals in the world. Newborn infants are black and woolly with a white or yellow patch .

15. WHALES
Whales belong to the family of marine mammals. Hunting, collisions with ships, and the degradation of their habitat due to pollution, are the greatest threat to whales.

16. Endangered species must be protected and saved so that future generations can experience their presence and value.
