Green sea turtles are omnivores that eat jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae and mollusks. They live in marine habitats like shorelines, mudflats, rocky and sandy shores, sea grasses, and barrier reefs. Green sea turtles are endangered due to threats like entanglement in fishing gear, poaching, coastal development, and marine debris. Conservation efforts include reducing plastic waste and not using lighting on beaches that can disorient hatchlings.

Green sea turtle
1.
2. Characteristics
Green Sea turtles are omnivores. Green Sea turtles eat
jellyfish, seaweed, crabs, shrimp, sponges, snails, algae
and mollusks.
The green sea turtles is a reptile, they have scales and
dry skin, they have soft shelled eggs, and cold-
blooded.
They have a shell to help protect themselves. They can
dive really fast. They can also swim fast!!!!!
3. Habitat habitat includes the shorelines, with
The marine
mudflats, rocky and sandy shores.
The marine has plants such as seaweed, marine algae,
sea grasses which are the only marine flowering plants.
They also live in the barrier reef. The barrier reef has a
depth less than 150 feet tall so that it can get sunlight and
warmth. Barrier reef are scattered all over the tropical
and subtropical western Atlantic and indo-pacific.
4. Why is my animal endangered?
What is being done to help them?
Threats to the green sea turtle are entanglement in fishing
gear, pouching and illegal trade of eggs, meat and
shells, costal development, plastic and other marine debris
global warming.
Do not construct camp fires on the beach because they are
attracted to the light and could crawl in and die.
Properly dispose of your garbage. Turtles may mistake plastic
bags, Styrofoam, and trash floating in the water as food and
die when this trash blocks their intestines. Celebrate events
without the use of helium balloon releases. Like plastic
trash, balloons end up in the especially when released near
the coast. Sea turtles mistakenly eat the balloons and die.
5. Facts!
Sea turtles have been around for 110 millions year
since the time of the dinosaurs. There colors between
yellow, greenish, and black depending on species. A
sea turtles shell can also be called a carapace. The
smallest sea turtle is 30 in. and is Kemps Ridley. It
weighs 80-100 lbs. The biggest sea turtles is the
Leatherback turtle. It is 61/ 2 feet long and weighs
2,000 lbs. Green sea turtles can stay under water for up
to 5 hours.
