Reference Letter – Mr. Martin Clemas
To whom it may concern,
Golden Crossing General Partnership (GCGP) is the Concessionaire for the design, construction, finance
and operation of the Golden Ears Bridge and surrounding road network. The bridge was opened to traffic
in 2009 with the concession lasting 32 years till 2040.
In autumn 2012 Eagle Valley Excavating (EVE) was chosen as preferred bidder for a 750m long and
4.5m high sound wall replacement along the project road at a construction value of approx. $730.000.
The representative for EVE that I mainly dealt with regarding this project was Mr. Martin Clemas, whom I
got to know as a very friendly, trustful and responsive person during the bid stage – a fact that supported
GCGP’s choice to award the contract to EVE.
During the construction period that initial impression was confirmed, when a minor design change was
required to accommodate access to a fire hydrant located behind the sound wall.
In our change negotiations I have perceived Martin as a very constructive and fair minded negotiator who,
whilst assuring EVE’s positon, was committed to finding a solution that is acceptable to all parties.
I got to know Martin as a faithful and reliable person of great integrity who is dedicated not only to resolve
his own problems but with his customer in mind. Dealing with him to me has been a true pleasure and
has ensured the project’s success.
