DESCRIBING
MY FAMILY

 This blog is addressed to fifth graders.
 School: Institución educativa Samuel Barrientos Restrepo (Sesión Pio
XII)
 Environment: The Pio XII is located in San Javier neighborhood,
close to the metro station. The school is small, with normal
classrooms, it has a park and a soccer field where they can play. The
school has two small cafeterias and it offers the “plan alimentacion”
for students in general. The students are between eleven to thirteen
years old, and some of them present concentration and attention
problems. Regarding the teacher, it is possible to perceive she has
good classroom management and a well use of resources(Small TV,
normal chairs and posters).
 School description: Students in the classroom as I mentioned before are kids
and they like English a lot because of the relationship that they have with the
teacher, but in general terms they are low English speakers and they tend to
forget English vocabulary quickly.
 With this blog students will acquire vocabulary to describe people, clothes
and places, by listening and watching videos from YouTube about people doing
descriptions and also from flashcards.
 Methodologies:
The teacher uses a low level to work with the kids because of their level of English
but with this blog students will be working from a communicative perspective. At
the end of the course students will be able to describe people, clothes and places
using this blog. This blog will promote the use of technology as the principal
element for them to learn and to use English from a communicative and social
perspective.
 The aim of this blog is for you to acquire how to describe:
 family members, places and people.
 At the same time you will learn new vocabulary and improve your
pronunciation.
• Acoording to the aim topic you will be able to communicate your ideas, work
in groups and play interesting games.
• In this way you will be introducing interesting issues for instance:
• Adjectives: To describe.
• Human body parts.
• Physical apireance.
 This blog includes:
 Videos
 Audio material.
 Fun games.
 1 web quest.
 This material will be amazing and you can learn how to describe your family
members, friends & places, but this is not mandatory unless you really want to
learn.
