- Oldtown : with a medieval structure and is located on a hill.
- Newtown; that is a new neirbourghhood created because the Oldtown was overpopulated.
- Leith : in the north part of Edinburgh.
The city has a lot of vegetation and hills and the climate is peculiar because people say that you can see the four seasons in a day,
because in all months you can notice minimum temperatures belonging to the winter and maximum very warm temperatures.
Many tourists come to Scotland to see its beautiful places, but you can´t leave Scotland without visiting Edinburgh and its places
of interest like:

- And of course, its medieval streets with its curious and beautiful old houses and its bars where you can drink a beer.
One of the most wonderful places in Edinburgh is a street named Mary King´s close, which is a medieval commercial alley.
In Edinburgh thereare lots of lovely sights where we can find the Castle of Edinburgh, Water of Hill that has become a very
attractive area, Calton Hill, The Holyrood Park… and many wonderful sights of Edinburg.
Let´s start with Calton Hill. In the middle of eighteenth century , James II created an area for enjoyment of the inhabitants of
the city. Later , this place would be Calton Hill ,for this reason it´s considered the first public park of the city, but some
years later the practice of sport was prohibited and it became a military training camp.
A century ago the Carmelita´s friars built a monastery on the hill and took Calton Hill. After that , Calton Hill will become a
hospital for lepers. This hospital was famous because all the patients who tried to escape were hanged by the gallouns at
the door.Years ago some skeletons were found in the place related to the existence of the hospital.
But we can´t forget the wonderful Arthur´s Sit, It is the main peak of a group of hills that form most of the Holyrood
park. It is common to think that its name is a derivation of the legends of King Arthur. However, it has also been suggested
that it may be a corruption of Archer's seat "The Archer's Seat ", since this rock was a significant point in defending the
city. Here is common to find multiple fortifications. Some of which are undoubtedly prehistoric. These forts probably
belonged to the Votadini, who appeared in the poem Gododdin, an old Welsh poem written around the year 600. The poem
includes a simile in which a warrior is compared with King Arthur , referring to this historical character.
In this wonderfulcity we find two impressive castles, for example The Castle of Edinburgh and the Palace of Holyrood.
The Castle of Edinburgh.
The Castle of Edinburgh is the biggest castle of the country. It´s an old fortress built on a 700 million years old volcano, it´s
a castle rock on a hill and it´s surrounded by cliffs.
The castle was built in the XII century in memory of the Queen Margarita, it has been residence of kings, prison and military
residence, but today it´s open to the public and it´s managed by Historic Scotland. Now it´s a national monument, museum,
and tourist attraction.

we can see a replicas of the life of the prisoners of the XVIII century. And many visitors make sure they feel presence, see
shadows, feel friction and breathe, hear noises…
But one of the most famous ghosts is the Lone Piper, according to the story , centuries ago when discovering underground
tunnels, a piper was sent to investigate the tunnels, he had to play the instrument without stopping to be heard so that they
could trace the routes of the tunnel, but the sound stopped and the piper was never found.
It is said that sometimes you hear the sound of the bagpipes along the castle, but there is never anyone.
Another popular ghost is the headless child, It´s said that every time the castle was going to be attacked a headless child
appeared in the surroundings as in 1650.
