English customs arevery different from the Spanish
customs, here are some of them:
1- GREETINGS INSTEAD OF KISSES: while in Spain
people usually kiss twice when they meet someone , in
the UK the custom is exclusively to shake hands.

2- PUNCTUALITY: Thistopic is completely true. The
minium delay to get to an appointment should be made,
it is considered as impolite to arrive late.
3- TV LICENCE: Anyone who owns a TV set has to pay
an anual fee to finance the expenses of the BBC and if
he doesn´t pay , the fine may be 1000 pounds.
4- The English queue for every thing and always
respect their turn.
5- CASHBACK: It consists of a amount exceeding the
purchase to pay with a card and receive the change in
cash.

6- TEA: Teatime is between 3 and 5 in the afternoon.
It consists of tea, scones and jam..
7- Schedules: In England the custom tends to be :
Breakfast before work, lunch at work between 12 and
13:30
(a sandwich for example) and between 6 and 8 in the
afternoon eating dinner.
Stores open at 10 in the morning and close at 18:00 hours.

TRADITIONS
England is acountry that keeps alive many
traditions and that is because it has a lot of ethnic
festivals. Some which stand out are for example,
the celebration that takes place on St. George's
Day, which is considereded the national patron
of England , as well as Halloween or Easter.
Christmas is celebrated on December 25th with a
very special dinner for the whole family.

Another typical festivalis the Harvest Festival ,which is a
celebration for the cultivated products, although this is a
custom that takes places in almost all agricultural countries
of the world.
At present the tradition of the festival is to decorate the
churches with baskets with fruits obtained from the earth,
this celebration is usually done in the month of September.
It is a day to honour all those men and women who were

In the field of fast food, the gastronomy of England has
been able to make famous the fish and chips, which is a
fried fish fillet, commonly cod or pollack, served with
thick-cut chips in a paper cone.
The most important food for the British is breakfast:
scrambled eggs with bacon, sausage, tomato, grapefruit
juice, toast of assorted breads and coffee.
Dinner, is not served too late, it starts with a drink, main
course and dessert.

People inthe UK, due to their cimate and schedules,
have a very quiet life and a sweet and social character.
Popular pastime activities are watching series, movies,
videos and listening to music.
Among other hobbies, the British do many sports.
All pubs in the small towns are decorated in the
traditional style.
In them you can have fun with games like darts and play
snooker, which is a game very similar to billiards.
