Steve Ellis
          Idea communicator

Clearly differentiating and communicating
    what’s best about your business…
        and the value you provide.
Is this a typical day?
Issues you may be facing
 Backlog of critical marketing/sales/communications
needs, with no budget for additional headcount/benefits.

 Overloaded with information/input, with not enough time
  to process it all.

 Numerous “fire-fighting” distractions from core strategic
  responsibilities.

 Generating good ideas, but falling short on execution due
to lack of time, fragmented and/or junior-level resources.

 Confusion over rapidly-changing media environment and
where to optimally focus your effort and resources.
I will help you…
Free up time for more strategic responsibilities
Complete critical projects on time and budget
Eliminate fragmented messaging and establish a
clear line of sight to your customers
Execute seamlessly
Establish a sensible media balance

Without the overhead/cost of a new hire,
                benefits and training
I will save you significant time and money…
With my:
Short learning curve
Process efficiency
Extensive cross-industry/cross-discipline experience
and expertise (25+ years)
Ability to project-manage suppliers and critical
details/deadlines

Agency creativity and quality, without the agency
overhead

competencies to help his clients address their marketing
and communications needs. He is a seasoned executive
who can manage all aspects of a marketing program,
from strategy development to final implementation.”
                      Mary Wiatr
                       Deloitte
I provide unique value to my clients…
As an:

Idea generator and communicator
Strategic marketing adviser
Creative problem-solver
Business and speech writer
Creative director and project manager
Award-winning photographer
And have over 15 years experience communicating and marketing
“Lean” business improvement to internal and external audiences
“An important part of the value that Steve provides
is his ability to quickly understand the core issues
and translate that understanding into creative ideas,
 perceptive copy and targeted, strategically‐sound
       solutions that are precisely executed.”
                   Kevan Pickens
                Publisher, The Golfer
An example
 Anand Sharma is a pioneer in Lean
  business improvement who speaks
  frequently at events around the
  world, as an industry thought-leader.
 While he was in a taxi in Beijing, I
spent 15 minutes on the phone
discussing ideas and concepts for his
  next major presentation.
 I translated those ideas into a 45-
  minute PowerPoint presentation with
  speaker notes that he delivered
  virtually unchanged.
 The audience evaluation score was
  9.8 out of 10.
“Steve has a unique ability to quickly grasp
      virtually any message or topic,
condense it down to its essence
       and communicate it in media
      that are consistently creative,
well‐researched and visually distinctive.”

              Anand Sharma
CEO and founder, TBM Consulting Group
The truth is…
Anybody can do this stuff, just not necessarily very well
 Advertising
 Brochures, direct mail
 Consulting
 Copywriting
 Design
 Photography
 Presentations
 Press releases
 Promotions and incentives
                                     “My nephew’s great
 Social media with computers. He can
 Video do our website and he’ll
 Websites, e-campaigns work for peanuts.”

Without a communicator, you’ll get what you pay for
30,000-foot view
My focus is to help you achieve your business goals
Grow your business
Identify and capture new
opportunities
Highlight and capitalize on
competitive advantages
Strengthen your brand
Increase awareness
Get closer to your customers
Capitalize on each customer/
prospect touch point
“Steve became an integral part of the marketing team
at GE Real Estate, working seamlessly with senior leaders
throughout the organization. He made the effort to thoroughly
understand each aspect of our business and how it interacted
with our customers. He developed a comprehensive sales
presentation for my business, which required very little of my
              time. I really appreciated that.”
                         Skip Wells
              Managing Director, GE Real Estate

Steve proposed the idea of a million-
dollar putt at The Skins Game, which was
               subsequently implemented by Gillette.

“Recognizing that the event might be
getting old, the pooh‐bahs at the Skins
Game tried to spice things up. Five cars
were added to the booty, which didn't rev
a lot of engines. However, the inaugural
Gillette Putting Challenge was one of
               the highlights of the weekend.”
               Sports Illustrated

Steve proposed the idea to Gillette of an in-pack collectible phone
card promotion for their disposable razors. This became the world’s
largest phone card promotion ever, with over 4,000,000 cards
distributed in Gillette razor packages.

“I've worked with Steve on a variety of web-related and marketing projects for GE Real
Estate. He was responsible for content development, strategic planning and project
management. What has struck me the most about working with Steve is the time and
effort he puts into learning about every aspect of the client's business. Although not an
employee of the client, his knowledge of their business, brand, market, audience and
industry was substantial. The end results were solutions that not only worked for the
client, but maintained a strong loyalty between us.”
Joseph Notovitz, President/CEO, Notovitz Communications

“I had the opportunity to work with Steve on a series of videos he produced for us in
Brazil and Argentina. Steve is high-level competent professional, easy to deal with and
delivers exactly what the customer wants.”
Marco Antonio Nascimento, Partner & Consultant Director, EPR Américas

“Steve helped produce a video that profiled our agency. His extensive experience and
expertise in video production and marketing resulted in a product that continues to be
used and deliver results four years later. The success of this video was a direct result of
Steve’s ability to capture and present the essence of our organization. He has the
ability to manage a project logistically, creatively and cost effectively.”
LouAnn Bloomer, Founder and CEO, TBICO

“Steve is a creative and artistic web developer, an intelligent writer and an excellent
communicator. He listens well, anticipates questions, understands tight budgets and
time constraints and delivers as contracted. His photographer's eye lends a interesting
angle to his designs. He turned the often tense and tedious aspects of building a
complex website into a reasonable and enjoyable process. I highly recommend him!”
Marty O'Connell, Director, IECA Foundation

“I always found Steve to be an incredibly dedicated, disciplined and imaginative
marketer. Dedicated to making sure the client received the highest quality work
possible. Disciplined, in seeing that the work was done to the highest standards, on
time, and within a budget that could make all parties happy. And, most of all,
imaginative. Steve never settled for the way things were, always looking for a better or
bolder solution to the clients' needs.”
Larry Durst, Creative Director, Clarion Marketing & Communications

“Within minutes of your email blast going out, my phone started ringing and email
responses started pouring in from customers we hadn’t heard from in ages. The
message was so compelling that people were eager to find out more.”
Managing Director, GE Real Estate
Communicating ideas – the essence of marketing

      Marketing without
         communicating
       effectively is like
       fishing without a
                  hook.

I quickly drill down to the essence of your product or service
             and translate complex business concepts
          into clear, easily-understood communications
I hope we can connect
