A Jacuzzi hot tub is an expensive investment and it requires consistent
maintenance and care if you intend on using it for a long time. There are a
few steps that you must follow in order to get the most out of your hot tubs
and make sure that they last for the decades to come. Here are those 5 steps:
1. Test the Water in Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub Weekly
Testing the water in the tub is very important in order to make it known
whether the water composition is good and safe. It is also crucial in showing
whether the tub is free from problems such as scaling, mineral buildup, and
unpleasant-smelling water. The test tests will establish the action to take if
case the Jacuzzi hot tub experience problems. In case it does happen, you
may have to use and add additives to the water to maintain the perfect
balance.
Testing the water depends on the type of hot tubs. Newly bought hot tubs
usually come with testing strips or drops which are meant for the Jacuzzi hot
tub type. For hot tubs which use bromine, the test strip will show the levels
of chlorine, bromine, alkalinity, and water pH. Chlorine disinfected hot tubs
on the other hand, is tested for the water pH and alkalinity. If you have a
naturally purified Jacuzzi hot tub, the test strip shall indicate the levels of
“monopersulfates” in the water along with its pH level and alkalinity.

2. 2. Know the Chemicals You Put in the Tub
Maintaining the correct pH level in the Jacuzzi hot tub could be fairly
manageable if you understand the function of adding the chemicals. There
are many varying products for hot tubs with low pH levels while there are
those that with extremely high pH. It is however very important to ensure
that your hot tub has its purifier in at all times whether natural or bromine
based.
3. Giving Your Jacuzzi Hot Tub Shock Treatment
With hot tub maintenance, add a stronger (than the regular) dose of sanitizer
at least once a week. Jacuzzi hot tub owners are advised to shock their tubs
depending on the number of times that they use it in week. If you use the tub
about one to four times in a week then a single weekly shock is perfect, but
in case you use it more frequently then two shocks weekly should do it. This
also applies for bromine and chlorine sanitized hot tubs.
If your hot tub has a natural purifier, you might also want to do a light shock
after each use aside from the heavy shock treatment per week.
4. Keep the Pump Filter Clean
Every Jacuzzi hot tub comes with a manufacturer’s instructions on how the
pump and pump filter are cleaned. With these in mind, you have to ensure
that there’s no debris clogging the filter basket. This in turn will make sure
that the hot tubs are in perfect running condition.
5. Let the Pumps Run
If the water in the Jacuzzi hot tub remains stagnant for long periods of time,
it will become sufficient grounds for bacterial and fungal colonies. It’s best
to let the pumps run for most of the day, or if possible all day long.
If you choose to have the pumps operating for a particular number of hours
per day then you may purchase timers which turn your hot tubs pump on and
off automatically.
