2.  Shoes for Crews manufactures a diverse line
of footwear that combines safety features,
like slip-resistant outsoles and steel toes, with
style, comfort, and durability. In addition to
protecting customers from falls and other
workplace accidents, Shoes for Crews
contributes to Soles4Souls, a nonprofit
organization that fights poverty by donating
new and used shoes and clothing to
underprivileged communities worldwide.

3.  While Soles4Souls works closely with apparel
companies that donate new products, the
organization also emphasizes the importance of
donating used articles of clothing as a way to help
both people and the environment. Soles4Souls notes
that every year Americans discard more than 700,000
tons of reusable apparel. Donating used shoes and
clothes keeps these items out of landfills, where they
can break down and release harmful toxins into the
soil and water. People can donate unwanted shoes
at one of the organization’s blue bins or participating
drop-off locations. Since 2006, Soles4Souls has
distributed more than 19 million pairs of shoes around
the world.
