Descriptive Essay About Memories
Our lives are filled with many favorable memories, but only the best ones are formed when we
gain something from them. A great memory that I have is when I went to my first concert in
Richmond with my friend, Ciana, in March of 2017. This concert is one of my best memories
because it taught me how fun life can be, no matter how wild it may become.
My friend and I aren't wild people, but we do like to randomly plan crazy things. Ciana randomly
messaged me one month before and asked if I wanted to go see this band in March. With a why not
attitude, I agreed to go. I wasn't dying to see the band live, but I did enjoy their music. There was
three other bands playing at that concert, but I wasn't familiar with any of them. Becoming familiar

To our left, there were stands where you could buy shirts. Since they weren't busy, we decided to
give the tall vender forty bucks for two of the band's tour t–shirts. It was a quick interaction, so we
still had plenty of time left. We figured we would go ahead and wait in the medium sized crowd.
The only part of the room that was well lit, was the stage. As we patiently waited, the variety of
bright colors danced across the stage. Slowly, more people came in and filled the crowd area in the
room. The stage and band equipment was set up by these men who paced across the stage. As we
waited for what seemed like eternity, time slowly stretched like finely rolled out dough. Finally, the
lights went out, and the first band came on stage.
The entire crowd screamed as loud as they can. The lights came back on and the first band comes
out. As we are enjoying the music we're listening to, the singer asks the crowd to make a moshpit.
Instantly, everybody is pushing to the perimeters of the crowd area in order to make a clear space.
Forming right next to where my friend and I are standing, the mosh pit errupted. It was very rough
to stand on the outer edge of the moshpit, but thankfully, this tall guy was our savior as he blocked
us from the tornado of bodies within the moshpit. Slowly, we pushed ourselves away from the
moshpit and towards the stage. At this point, my arm had already formed a bruise from the

Isabella ELA8H 9 Oct. 2017 "Nightmare" The pitch black night, cold and foggy. The only thing
that kept my body warm was the sweat dripping along the sides of my face. Where I'm running, I
don't know, but I do know it's away from her. Floating above the ground she is coming closer and
closer. She, the ghost that is haunting me,is wearing that old torn dress, with her floating almost
transparent self coming toward at me. Her white hair covering her face as her rotten long nails are
coming closer and closer. " You can't hide I WILL FIND YOU!" She then cease to exist , I look

she's whispering. " F–K OFF!! LEAVE ME ALONE!! PLEASE!" " I didn't mean to cause you any

at the end of the hall glowing and everything else becoming dark. She comes out, with the glow

isolated part of the hospital are being heard. And they are approaching my door very closely. The
doorknob begins to nudge, but another pair of footsteps can be heard approaching the hall. "
Why–wha–what? Why is she f––g walking can't she just float?!" I mumble to myself in the
darkness. I look at my surroundings to see what is there that is helpful enough to beat up this ghost.

package, but none comes close to what the cradle of mankind does. The cradle of mankind, East
Africa, has a lot to offer for any tourist looking for fun, adventure and luxury all combined into
one. The best place to enjoy a full safari in East Africa is to go visit the Mara. The Mara is a
breath–taking place where you will get to see all the big five (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and
rhino) and at the same time you get to enjoy the tropical weather. As the tourist will be a luxury

footbridge over the Ntiakitiak River to a small slope and at the end of the journey the tourist is
greeted to an endless horizon that is dotted by a single tree. The luxurious tented camp's design is

Descriptive Essay Of A Forest
The exhilaration of a terrifyingly glorious leap sends ardent shrills down my spine. As I fly through
the thick canopy of leafy chlorophyll–filled greens, I reach out to the sky and the sun smiles back at
me. Inhaling the fresh raw air, the earthy petrichor floods my nostrils with an indescribably sprightly
scent; I thank the prolific trees for such a crisp, oxygen abundant delight. Rising adrenaline mixed
with high elevations and unbelievable speed is the perfect recipe for an intense overflow of
profound emotions. Exposure to such a breathtaking experience creates a sense of avidity, parallel
with appreciation for its very existence. To literally have my head in the clouds is an infatuation only
satisfied here. Breathing in once again, my surroundings blur and I seem to freeze in time. In this
moment, suspended in the forest, I hear a lone bird chip once, twice, but the third is absent. I
search for the origin of the sound but I am moving in slow motion without a clear picture
surrounding me. Exhaling, my speed regains full strength with a powerful breeze howling in my
ears and lone bird is joined by a chorus of the forest's inhabitants in harmony. The line feeds through
a small opening in the mother tree's arms. She welcomes me with open arms; her sharp branches
leave the memory of her on my skin. The kind wind kisses my small scrapes, tickling my hairs,
causing them to stand tall on my arms. I soar into a breathtaking bright clearing causing my hairs
to rest at ease. The warmth surrounds me like a blanket and a cloud covers the sun, allowing me
to fully experience the astonishing serenity. The dull light is peaceful; it calms me. Somehow I
am speeding through the sky but I am more relaxed than I have ever been. This energy is new to
me; I am free to feel any and every emotion I have ever had. The overwhelming feeling urges me to
yell. I call to the birds and let my heart overflow with fervor. Once again, I fill my lungs and exhale
with a roar. I am a free bird. It is a dangerous euphoria that seems never ending. When it ends, I
know I will be left with a desperate longing for the refreshing adventure so I simply live in the
moment. Letting go of the harness I swing my arms back

Descriptive Essay About A Boat
I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke
the surface of the water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness as
we rode the waves. The small boat contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the front
of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain's station sat with the controls to steer the boat.
Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench. A metal railing encircled the
entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area, hooked to the side
of the boat, sat a three–rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I enjoyed on the car ride
over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I couldn't help but admire the
beauty of this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with thick and healthy trees thanks to
all the rain, and the exquisite white beaches, calmed me and helped me forget the anxiety that
overcame me. The cold, early morning ocean breeze pulled my hair back, but no goosebumps
graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us. My fellow boat passengers all seemed
to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the distance between us and the cage. My
idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie with family and friends, not jumping
into a cage surrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not a part of my life. The boat's captains
included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin from all their time in the sun.
Sunglasses rested on each of their eyes, shielding them from the bright, hot sun. The boat engines
loud roar came to a stop, only the waves crashing against the boat made a sound. The oldest of the
five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark finger and held it over the left side of the boat and
exclaimed in a gruff voice, "The cage is over there and you will need to swim in 15 yards of free
water to get to it. If the sharks come at you just hit their nose." Looks of terror graced every
traveler's face. The looks didn't fade until another one of the boat's crew spoke up telling us that the
older man played that joke on every tour group. I studied the man

Descriptive Essay About My Grandmother
My grandmother was a tough lady.
At just over five feet tall, she was the kind of woman that you saw on the street and knew to move
out of her way. Her demeanor was strict, her hands tied with thick blue veins, crissВcrossing over
her thin, frail fingers.
I remember holding her hands as a child, how delicate and soft they seemed and yet that never
made them seem any less worn or sturdy. Her hands told stories of different times, of different
worlds and hardships. She had grown up worlds away from me, in a different land, at a different
time, in an era and a life that I would never know.
My grandmother had stories.
But, she never told stories. Her stories were in the way she ate – she savored her food, cherished it.
Often she would be...show more content...
She was seldom outwardly affectionate. She didn't need to be. When I wrapped my arms around
her small frame, afraid I would break her, she responded with a strength disproportionate to her size.
She held tightly, like she was holding on for dear life, and then she let go, she smiled and she
moved on.
My grandmother was an intelligent woman.
She had little schooling, but she had run businesses. She had managed on her own, with a husband
and sons, in a country that didn't care for her or her culture, but only for their aggrandized version
of it. Her experiences were rightful cause to be jaded and hard, and yet she saw brightness and she
saw brightness in me. She saw the great things in life, she loved hard and appreciated the little things
– us going for a walk together or just sitting in the sun on a warm day.
My grandmother's stories were in her complaints.
My grandmother complained about petty things: things that I would complain about. But she never
complained about life and she never complained about pain.
My grandmother had developed a brain tumor, which when removed, removed much of her
immediate memory. For a long time, she didn't remember my name. She had no idea who I was. But
she tried and she learned.
She understood perseverance and the importance of people and she carried on against all odds. The
last time I spoke to her, she knew exactly who I was, despite

Descriptive Essay About Spaghetti
Did you have any food obsessions as a kid, and eat the same thing continually?
Ordinarily, the one meal I am willing to kill over is spaghetti. The one person who comes to mind
when I think about spaghetti is my grandmother. Her sauce is as thick as her history and the many
layers to the dish represent the transitions she has had all throughout her life. Spaghetti is my go–to
meal for heartaches, stress, and happiness. I can 't just eat anyone 's spaghetti or any type of
spaghetti. First, it has to be my Mammaw 's (grandmother) spaghetti because she adds the perfect
amount of sugar and love into her infamous sauce.

Eating half naked sounds weird, well it is weird, but that just shows you the closeness of our
relationship. I 'm obsessed with spaghetti, it 's the best carbs a girl could get her hands on.
For instance, when my grandmother is cooking her infamous spaghetti, the whole neighborhood
knows because you can smell the sauce from outside of the house. We use to stay in a small
shotgun house and since there was poor ventilation, she would cook with the door open. Well, we
had to stop that because neighbors would beg like no tomorrow for a plate of food, the same
neighbors who wouldn 't even lend you a cup of sugar if your life depended on it. Moreover, the
downfall of her cooking without the door open is that my mouth would hang to the floor the whole
time the meal was being prepared because I would be mesmerized.
When she cooks, she seduces you and the aromas pull moans from the bottom of your belly. I
remember this one time my nose got me in trouble. My nose grew feet and walked me to the
kitchen where I saw the spaghetti cooling off on the counter, I figured one or three spoonfuls of
the sauce would hurt, well I was wrong. The sauce was so hot on my tongue that tears came out of
my eyes. I screamed and screamed until my grandmother came in the kitchen. She said, " Girl what
in the hell is wrong with you?"
I mumbled, "Mawmaw my tongue is on fire."
She giggled,"Fatty butt, you couldn 't wait, I 've told you too many times to not to open my pots,"
she 's really strict

Reflection On My English 101 Experience
Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your
mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The
truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in
the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can
explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses.
Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before
taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and
unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I
struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to
the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class
that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the
whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for
navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I
have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in
English 101 is the writing triangle. Even before outlining, the topic, purpose, and audience of the

formations stick out of the water, creating a question on how they formed there. Sea creatures dot
the sand everywhere. Walking the beach with sand between your toes is and not a worry in your mind
is one of the best feelings. If you time it right early in the mornings and late in the night low tide

Losing a Loved One Essay example
Losing a Loved One
Losing a loved one is like having the rug swept from under you. We make plans for the day, and
do not think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought
much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my uncle's death. I
do not think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. It
is amazing how we take life for granted. The tragedy never goes away. You just learn how to cope
with it and keep moving on.

face. I had no reaction at first and I wanted to deny it, all of it. I kept saying to myself, no it is a lie,
they made a mistake. To my complete horror I was wrong.
My mom kept saying "I have got to go see Fran. I need to see with my brother" My mom ran down
stairs to get ready to go, I followed her and just stood there, still paralyzed. She hugged me and
said that she loved me. I had never seen my mom so panicked. She went into the bathroom to take
a shower and I could still hear her sobbing through the door. I was all by myself, now. I was
standing in the middle of the family room as the words "He is dead" pierced my heart like daggers
of ice. I was screaming OH, GOD NO, and started to cry uncontrollably. The realization that I
would never see my uncle again struck me. After I got myself under control I went and packed my

Descriptive Essay About My Kitchen
Reflecting on important places to me, one in particular comes to mind, my kitchen. My kitchen has
gone through years of change but yet still managed to maintain the same feeling throughout my life;
the feeling that I was home. Because of the layout, the only entrance to my home was through the
kitchen throughout most of the year, making it something I experienced virtually every day of my
life. My kitchen has proven itself as a place where people would come, food would be made, and
loving memories created with family both in the present and past, making it the first thing I think of
when referring to what I think of home.
My kitchen was distinctively cold throughout the entirety of the year regardless of the seasons, but
was constantly warmed by the presence of visiting relatives or close family talking, cooking, or
pestering my grandmother to make them food. I distinctly remember braving the frigid hardwood
floor on many occasions to acquire a quick snack, or to give my mother a much–needed hug and
kiss before she left for her night–shift at work. When entering the kitchen, you never knew who
would be sitting in the chair across from my grandmother, adding to the combination of delight and
dread when entering the kitchen. Would my brother be in the designated red chair across from my
grandmother asking for food or would my cousin be sitting there fiddling with the papers that littered
the table? The impetuous shock of the cold floor combined with the mystery regarding who

My neighborhood is unlike any other neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley. I truly feel like I am

Courage has been beneficial because, I am not shy or afraid to meet new people and socialize. I
gained confidence within myself because I do not feel awkward in social situations. Furthermore,
my neighborhood has shaped me into a charismatic person; it is helpful when encountering social
relationships outside of my surroundings.
Aside from the personal lessons, I have been influenced to be festive. During most celebrated
holiday such as: Fourth of July, Halloween, and Christmas, my neighborhood embraces their
excitement with beautiful decorations. According to the article Social Cohesiveness, Territoriality,
and Holiday Decorations by Barbara Brown and Carol Werner, observations on holiday decorations
were done on a whole block during Halloween and Christmas; the analyses indicated that attitudes
and behaviors combined to reflect degrees of neighborhood attachment, and neighborhood ties were
stronger. In a sense, it makes me believe my neighbors unite to beautify our neighborhood streets
while sharing common traditions, such as a Christmas tree or the birth of Jesus arrangement.
Holidays are my favorite time of the year, because I love to see the streets of my home filled with
jolly spirit. Around Christmas, I drive block by block to admire the lovely decorations. The sound
of celebration and the smell of festive meals fill the atmosphere. Supermarkets are crowed than ever,

The city that once had homed thousands and been the most economically successful country ever,

person that I can turn to, my mom. She's been a wealth of advice to call on when I'm clueless and
a shoulder to cry on when I'm down. Her compassion for others inspires me to be a better person
as does the guidance she has given me over the years. She's not afraid to give me a reality check
and to tell me the things I don't want to hear even though I need to. She keeps me grounded and
teaches me to appreciate the smaller things in life. Even though my dad was still involved in my life
after my parents split up it was my mother who I primarily lived with and it was her who had the
greatest influence on my life growing up. Anyone who has known my...show more content...
Heaven help you if you do anything to endanger her family. My mom also does not go soft on her
kids; she can be a formidable disciplinarian when she wants to and will not hesitate to set us
straight when we broke the rules. She won't let anybody walk over her and is really quick to anger
if you try. My mother is strong–willed and stubborn; when she sets her mind to something almost
nothing will stop her and what an impossible feat it is to change her mind on something. She is
very impatient; when she wants something done she wants it done at this very moment, no later.
She is idealistic and she enjoys the simpler things that life has to offer. She loves nature and would
love nothing more than to be living in a cabin in the mountains while listening to country music.
She does not pay much attention to news happening outside her local area and prefers to focus on
what's happening in her immediate area. From my mother I have learned how to be the person that
I am today. Through her I have learned the importance of family and that it is paramount to spend
time with them while I still have it. Even now I try to spend time with my family when I have the
opportunity to. Form her I have learned compassion for those around me and for animals. Even

Descriptive Essay Conclusion Examples

  • 1. Descriptive Essay About Memories Our lives are filled with many favorable memories, but only the best ones are formed when we gain something from them. A great memory that I have is when I went to my first concert in Richmond with my friend, Ciana, in March of 2017. This concert is one of my best memories because it taught me how fun life can be, no matter how wild it may become. My friend and I aren't wild people, but we do like to randomly plan crazy things. Ciana randomly messaged me one month before and asked if I wanted to go see this band in March. With a why not attitude, I agreed to go. I wasn't dying to see the band live, but I did enjoy their music. There was three other bands playing at that concert, but I wasn't familiar with any of them. Becoming familiar ...show more content... To our left, there were stands where you could buy shirts. Since they weren't busy, we decided to give the tall vender forty bucks for two of the band's tour t–shirts. It was a quick interaction, so we still had plenty of time left. We figured we would go ahead and wait in the medium sized crowd. The only part of the room that was well lit, was the stage. As we patiently waited, the variety of bright colors danced across the stage. Slowly, more people came in and filled the crowd area in the room. The stage and band equipment was set up by these men who paced across the stage. As we waited for what seemed like eternity, time slowly stretched like finely rolled out dough. Finally, the lights went out, and the first band came on stage. The entire crowd screamed as loud as they can. The lights came back on and the first band comes out. As we are enjoying the music we're listening to, the singer asks the crowd to make a moshpit. Instantly, everybody is pushing to the perimeters of the crowd area in order to make a clear space. Forming right next to where my friend and I are standing, the mosh pit errupted. It was very rough to stand on the outer edge of the moshpit, but thankfully, this tall guy was our savior as he blocked us from the tornado of bodies within the moshpit. Slowly, we pushed ourselves away from the moshpit and towards the stage. At this point, my arm had already formed a bruise from the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Descriptive Essay On Nightmare Isabella ELA8H 9 Oct. 2017 "Nightmare" The pitch black night, cold and foggy. The only thing that kept my body warm was the sweat dripping along the sides of my face. Where I'm running, I don't know, but I do know it's away from her. Floating above the ground she is coming closer and closer. She, the ghost that is haunting me,is wearing that old torn dress, with her floating almost transparent self coming toward at me. Her white hair covering her face as her rotten long nails are coming closer and closer. " You can't hide I WILL FIND YOU!" She then cease to exist , I look around HOW?! She just vanished out of thin air, THIN AIR!?! BEEP BEEP BEEP! My alarm, as awake as the sun at dawn, is waking me up from that vivid dream of...show more content... Thank you Boss." " No problem Jared!" I scurry off, looking around to make it seem less suspicious. But HOW! How is it possible that she found out the building I worked at?! Is she that determined to find me?? Then I hear it, " Why are you scared? Don't run away." her voice soft and hushed as if she's whispering. " F–K OFF!! LEAVE ME ALONE!! PLEASE!" " I didn't mean to cause you any harm Jared. NOW YOU ASKED FOR IT!" I look around, the lights they're flickering. I spot a door at the end of the hall glowing and everything else becoming dark. She comes out, with the glow around her she seems more inhuman. The torn dress is ripped even more, her all black eyes looking at me. Running, away from her, I feel as if I'm in the same position, and as it time has stopped but it hasn't. The time is going by much more faster now, but I'm not going anywhere. A storage closet! I throw myself in and lock the door. I am panting, but try to control my breath for she won't hear it. " You can run but YOU CAN'T HIDE." Then, footsteps as loud as drums in this isolated part of the hospital are being heard. And they are approaching my door very closely. The doorknob begins to nudge, but another pair of footsteps can be heard approaching the hall. " Why–wha–what? Why is she f––g walking can't she just float?!" I mumble to myself in the darkness. I look at my surroundings to see what is there that is helpful enough to beat up this ghost. Get more content on HelpWriting.net

There are many places that offer this package, but none comes close to what the cradle of mankind does. The cradle of mankind, East Africa, has a lot to offer for any tourist looking for fun, adventure and luxury all combined into one. The best place to enjoy a full safari in East Africa is to go visit the Mara. The Mara is a breath–taking place where you will get to see all the big five (lion, buffalo, elephant, leopard and rhino) and at the same time you get to enjoy the tropical weather. • 4. Descriptive Essay Of A Forest The exhilaration of a terrifyingly glorious leap sends ardent shrills down my spine. As I fly through the thick canopy of leafy chlorophyll–filled greens, I reach out to the sky and the sun smiles back at me. Inhaling the fresh raw air, the earthy petrichor floods my nostrils with an indescribably sprightly scent; I thank the prolific trees for such a crisp, oxygen abundant delight. Rising adrenaline mixed with high elevations and unbelievable speed is the perfect recipe for an intense overflow of profound emotions. Exposure to such a breathtaking experience creates a sense of avidity, parallel with appreciation for its very existence. To literally have my head in the clouds is an infatuation only satisfied here. Breathing in once again, my surroundings blur and I seem to freeze in time. In this moment, suspended in the forest, I hear a lone bird chip once, twice, but the third is absent. I search for the origin of the sound but I am moving in slow motion without a clear picture surrounding me. Exhaling, my speed regains full strength with a powerful breeze howling in my ears and lone bird is joined by a chorus of the forest's inhabitants in harmony. The line feeds through a small opening in the mother tree's arms. She welcomes me with open arms; her sharp branches leave the memory of her on my skin. The kind wind kisses my small scrapes, tickling my hairs, causing them to stand tall on my arms. I soar into a breathtaking bright clearing causing my hairs to rest at ease. The warmth surrounds me like a blanket and a cloud covers the sun, allowing me to fully experience the astonishing serenity. The dull light is peaceful; it calms me. Somehow I am speeding through the sky but I am more relaxed than I have ever been. This energy is new to me; I am free to feel any and every emotion I have ever had. The overwhelming feeling urges me to yell. I call to the birds and let my heart overflow with fervor. Once again, I fill my lungs and exhale with a roar. I am a free bird. It is a dangerous euphoria that seems never ending. When it ends, I know I will be left with a desperate longing for the refreshing adventure so I simply live in the moment. Letting go of the harness I swing my arms back Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Descriptive Essay About A Boat I almost stepped foot into what I thought to be my watery grave, but I hesitated as my foot broke the surface of the water. I thought back to the boat ride out here and my feelings of uneasiness as we rode the waves. The small boat contained six rows of benches for the tourists to sit at the front of the boat. Directly behind the last row, a captain's station sat with the controls to steer the boat. Behind the control room, or the back of the boat, sat one long bench. A metal railing encircled the entire boat, except for a small portion at the back. Resting below the open area, hooked to the side of the boat, sat a three–rung ladder. I still tasted the wintergreen lifesaver I enjoyed on the car ride over here. The boat took us three miles off the north shore of Oahu, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of this paradise. Looking at the green mountains, lined with thick and healthy trees thanks to all the rain, and the exquisite white beaches, calmed me and helped me forget the anxiety that overcame me. The cold, early morning ocean breeze pulled my hair back, but no goosebumps graced my skin thanks to the warm sun shining down on us. My fellow boat passengers all seemed to appear calm while we rode on this death trap that closed the distance between us and the cage. My idea of fun consisted of reading a book or watching a movie with family and friends, not jumping into a cage surrounded by sharks. Adventure and risks are not a part of my life. The boat's captains included five men. Each man had a beard and browned skin from all their time in the sun. Sunglasses rested on each of their eyes, shielding them from the bright, hot sun. The boat engines loud roar came to a stop, only the waves crashing against the boat made a sound. The oldest of the five men spoke first. He lifted a crooked, dark finger and held it over the left side of the boat and exclaimed in a gruff voice, "The cage is over there and you will need to swim in 15 yards of free water to get to it. If the sharks come at you just hit their nose." Looks of terror graced every traveler's face. The looks didn't fade until another one of the boat's crew spoke up telling us that the older man played that joke on every tour group. I studied the man Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Descriptive Essay About My Grandmother My grandmother was a tough lady. At just over five feet tall, she was the kind of woman that you saw on the street and knew to move out of her way. Her demeanor was strict, her hands tied with thick blue veins, crissВcrossing over her thin, frail fingers. I remember holding her hands as a child, how delicate and soft they seemed and yet that never made them seem any less worn or sturdy. Her hands told stories of different times, of different worlds and hardships. She had grown up worlds away from me, in a different land, at a different time, in an era and a life that I would never know. My grandmother had stories. But, she never told stories. Her stories were in the way she ate – she savored her food, cherished it. Often she would be...show more content... She was seldom outwardly affectionate. She didn't need to be. When I wrapped my arms around her small frame, afraid I would break her, she responded with a strength disproportionate to her size. She held tightly, like she was holding on for dear life, and then she let go, she smiled and she moved on. My grandmother was an intelligent woman. She had little schooling, but she had run businesses. She had managed on her own, with a husband and sons, in a country that didn't care for her or her culture, but only for their aggrandized version of it. Her experiences were rightful cause to be jaded and hard, and yet she saw brightness and she saw brightness in me. She saw the great things in life, she loved hard and appreciated the little things – us going for a walk together or just sitting in the sun on a warm day. My grandmother's stories were in her complaints. My grandmother complained about petty things: things that I would complain about. But she never complained about life and she never complained about pain. My grandmother had developed a brain tumor, which when removed, removed much of her immediate memory. For a long time, she didn't remember my name. She had no idea who I was. But she tried and she learned. She understood perseverance and the importance of people and she carried on against all odds. The last time I spoke to her, she knew exactly who I was, despite

The one person who comes to mind when I think about spaghetti is my grandmother. Her sauce is as thick as her history and the many layers to the dish represent the transitions she has had all throughout her life. Spaghetti is my go–to meal for heartaches, stress, and happiness. I can 't just eat anyone 's spaghetti or any type of spaghetti. First, it has to be my Mammaw 's (grandmother) spaghetti because she adds the perfect amount of sugar and love into her infamous sauce. Eating half naked sounds weird, well it is weird, but that just shows you the closeness of our relationship. I 'm obsessed with spaghetti, it 's the best carbs a girl could get her hands on. For instance, when my grandmother is cooking her infamous spaghetti, the whole neighborhood knows because you can smell the sauce from outside of the house. We use to stay in a small shotgun house and since there was poor ventilation, she would cook with the door open. Well, we had to stop that because neighbors would beg like no tomorrow for a plate of food, the same neighbors who wouldn 't even lend you a cup of sugar if your life depended on it. Moreover, the downfall of her cooking without the door open is that my mouth would hang to the floor the whole time the meal was being prepared because I would be mesmerized. When she cooks, she seduces you and the aromas pull moans from the bottom of your belly. I remember this one time my nose got me in trouble. My nose grew feet and walked me to the kitchen where I saw the spaghetti cooling off on the counter, I figured one or three spoonfuls of the sauce would hurt, well I was wrong. The sauce was so hot on my tongue that tears came out of my eyes. I screamed and screamed until my grandmother came in the kitchen. She said, " Girl what in the hell is wrong with you?" I mumbled, "Mawmaw my tongue is on fire." She giggled,"Fatty butt, you couldn 't wait, I 've told you too many times to not to open my pots," she 's really strict Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Reflection On My English 101 Experience Reflecting on My English 101 Experience I used to consider writing as tumble words from your mind, write, read it through, fix minor mistakes, and done. However, you rarely get successful. The truth is many students, including myself, struggle with starting to write a word, or getting stuck in the middle without knowing the main point of the writing. After completing English 101, I can explain the writing process, evaluate the strengths of my essay, and identify my weaknesses. Throughout English 101, I learned that the following the writing process was imperative. Before taking this class, I use to always skip the pre–writing step considering that it is just an easy and unnecessary step. Consequently, I struggled to figure how to start writing, and most importantly I struggled to figure out the main point while writing the draft. And then I finish the first draft close to the deadline that I do not have time to read it not to mention revising. It was after I started this class that learned that pre–writing is vital, and requires time and attention as it holds the base of the whole writing. My professor used different analogies such as blueprint for building and map for navigation to explain the importance. It really speeded up my writing after I started to utilize it. I have learned outlining before, but part of the pre–writing that I was fortunate enough to learning in English 101 is the writing triangle. I have a place that not only made a good impression, it changed me. It made me think off all the things in life people take for granted; places, people, activates. This place brought all though special things in life to one place where I can enjoy them all at the same time. The Oregon coast. Traveling there, as a kid was always special. • 12. Losing a Loved One Essay example Losing a Loved One Losing a loved one is like having the rug swept from under you. We make plans for the day, and do not think twice about how those plans can be taken away in the blink of an eye. I never thought much about it myself, until I was faced with the shock, and undeniable truth of my uncle's death. I do not think anyone really thinks about tragedy until they are actually faced with shocking news. It is amazing how we take life for granted. The tragedy never goes away. You just learn how to cope with it and keep moving on. My mom had been going to school in Virginia and staying at my Aunt Ana's house. She had been away for two weeks and wanted to come home for the weekend. My mom had suggested that I go back with her and visit...show more content... I need to see with my brother" My mom ran down stairs to get ready to go, I followed her and just stood there, still paralyzed. She hugged me and said that she loved me. I had never seen my mom so panicked. She went into the bathroom to take a shower and I could still hear her sobbing through the door. I was all by myself, now. I was standing in the middle of the family room as the words "He is dead" pierced my heart like daggers of ice. I was screaming OH, GOD NO, and started to cry uncontrollably. The realization that I would never see my uncle again struck me. After I got myself under control I went and packed my things to leave with my mother. As soon as we were done we were on the next flight to New Jersey. I come from a big family with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. As I was standing there all alone I thought back to the time when I got to spend a week with Fran. Almost a year ago to the date, most of the family was together for my other uncle's wedding. All the cousins sat at the same table and we had such a good time together. He was a busy person, he Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Descriptive Essay About My Kitchen Reflecting on important places to me, one in particular comes to mind, my kitchen. My kitchen has gone through years of change but yet still managed to maintain the same feeling throughout my life; the feeling that I was home. Because of the layout, the only entrance to my home was through the kitchen throughout most of the year, making it something I experienced virtually every day of my life. My kitchen has proven itself as a place where people would come, food would be made, and loving memories created with family both in the present and past, making it the first thing I think of when referring to what I think of home. My kitchen was distinctively cold throughout the entirety of the year regardless of the seasons, but was constantly warmed by the presence of visiting relatives or close family talking, cooking, or pestering my grandmother to make them food. I distinctly remember braving the frigid hardwood floor on many occasions to acquire a quick snack, or to give my mother a much–needed hug and kiss before she left for her night–shift at work. When entering the kitchen, you never knew who would be sitting in the chair across from my grandmother, adding to the combination of delight and dread when entering the kitchen. Would my brother be in the designated red chair across from my grandmother asking for food or would my cousin be sitting there fiddling with the papers that littered the table? The impetuous shock of the cold floor combined with the mystery regarding who Get more content on HelpWriting.net

According to the article Social Cohesiveness, Territoriality, and Holiday Decorations by Barbara Brown and Carol Werner, observations on holiday decorations were done on a whole block during Halloween and Christmas; the analyses indicated that attitudes and behaviors combined to reflect degrees of neighborhood attachment, and neighborhood ties were stronger. In a sense, it makes me believe my neighbors unite to beautify our neighborhood streets while sharing common traditions, such as a Christmas tree or the birth of Jesus arrangement. Holidays are my favorite time of the year, because I love to see the streets of my home filled with jolly spirit. Around Christmas, I drive block by block to admire the lovely decorations. The sound of celebration and the smell of festive meals fill the atmosphere. As someone looks through the eyes of the devil, they see his utopia. Only visible by the dim light of the moon was the great wall. Beyond the wall? No one knew. She loves nature and would love nothing more than to be living in a cabin in the mountains while listening to country music. She does not pay much attention to news happening outside her local area and prefers to focus on what's happening in her immediate area. From my mother I have learned how to be the person that I am today. Through her I have learned the importance of family and that it is paramount to spend time with them while I still have it.
