It is realistically contextualized

It requires judgement and innovation

It asks the students to “do” the subject
It replicates key challenging situations in which adults are truly
“tested” in the workplace, in civic life, and in personal life.
It assesses the students’ ability to efficiently and effectively use
 a repertoire of knowledge and skill to negotiate a complex
and multistage task.
It allows appropriate opportunities to rehearse, practice, consult
 resources, and get feedback on and refine performances and
products.
“An assessment approach grounded in authentic work calls
for students (and teachers) to come to two important
understandings: first, learning how adults in the larger world
beyond the school really use or don’t use the knowledge and
skills that are taught in school; and second, how discrete
lessons are meaningful, that is, how they lead to
higher-quality performance or mastery of more important
tasks”

 Christmas is coming soon. It is traditional for German towns and
 villages to host Christmas Markets for the four weeks leading up to
 Christmas. These markets sell a wide variety of goods and people
 come from all over the world to shop and to eat and drink there.

 This is your brief task:

 1. Make, market and sell a product for profit for an ISD Christmas Market.

 2. With your group members brainstorm all of the jobs/steps involved
    in doing this.

 3. When you have collected the jobs/steps put them into the order you
    think they should be done.
