Reformer Vs Calvin
At this point is important to mention about one of the reformers that was while Calvin was young. The
reformer that was at that time was Luther, he influenced in some way to Calvin, they had different
point of view, Calvin learned a lot from Luther. The point that they have in common were the
Humanist side and they share also some doctrine. Some of the different way to think that they had are;
One of the most important disagree that they have is that Calvin believed that Christ died only for the
elect, while Luther believed that Christ died for all humanity, Other important difference that we can
find is the lord supper; Luther believed in the real presence of Christ in the Sacrament, while Calvin
affirmed the presence of the living Christ

Use Of Automatic Mode Of A Dslr ( Digital Single Lens...
Introduction
Imagine yourself standing on one of the seven wonders in the world. Surrounded by the symbolic
scenery you wish to seal up the beauty forever, but you re struggling due to a lack of knowledge of
how to function a DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera. This user guide will teach you how to use
a DSLR camera from the fundamentals, along with in depth knowledge of the profession functions
using the three most important pillars in photography; Aperture, Shutter speed and ISO.
Automatic Mode
1.1 What is Automatic Mode
Automatic mode is when the camera self selects the most appropriate settings for the chosen situation.
It determines for you all of the functions such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance (WB),
etc. All that is required for you to do then is point and shoot. [1]
1.2 How to Access and Operate Automatic Mode
1. Turn on your camera
2. Twist the mode dial until the green symbol auto lines up with the white marker and your LCD
screen displays the correct mode. (Figure 1,2)
3. Select a target and press the shutter button to capture.
Programme Mode
2.1 What is Programme Mode
Above we have discussed about the most basic mode auto mode. Programme mode is one step more
complicated than auto mode. It also self selects the shutter speed, aperture, WB and etc for a given
situation but the ISO is able to be manually manipulated.
2.2 How to Access and Operate Programme mode
1. With your camera turned on, twist the mode dial so that the

Sound Of Music In Texas
Texas has many different events going on during the year that you can often hear music just sitting
outside your house. There are parks and pavilions that hold concerts that are often carried in the wind
to nearby neighborhoods. You can also hear the sound of children playing in the street in the summer
or the whistle of the football coach in the nearby school when school is almost ready to start. The
sound of a crowd cheering as the Friday night lights appear on in the stadium of the nearest football
field. The sound of the band playing off in the distance as the kickoff of the first quarter is set into
motion. The sound of music is all around us in this great state and each city, town, neighborhood has
different sounds of everyday life.

Reflective Practice Research Paper
Reflective Practice (RP) is a concept embedded nowadays in most of the educational and healthcare
professional curriculums in UK, but it is much more developed and almost mandatory in nursing than
in any other field (Hebert, Finlay 2008, GMC, NMC, Wilson 1996). This trend is based not only on
learning theories, professional requirements and patient expectation but also for the numerous benefits
that have been described such as enhancing the competence of self directed lifelong learning,
professional development and critical thinking among others. This beside of some drawbacks that
have been highlighted (tsingos). Despite the popularity, surprisingly, I had never come across this
concept before during my dental undergraduate and orofacial pain

The Beet Queen
This excerpt from The Beet Queen by Louise Erdrich occurs during the Great Depression, in 1932.
Mary and Karl came to North Dakota on the train to see their aunt Fritzie. Erdrich s choice of third
person narration, detached tone, and bleak imagery paired with a juxtaposition between Karl and
Mary, sets up a bleak beginning to a story that begins in a bleak time period in American history.
Erdrich chooses to convey this scene through third person narration and an ambivalent tone in order to
convey the bleak setting of this story. On a cold spring morning in 1932, the train brought both an
addition and a subtraction . This quote outlines the majority of the passage while also foreshadowing
the ending of the story. The third person perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mary is described as so short and ordinary that it was obvious she would be this way all of her life .
This creates an aura of hopeless resignation about Mary; that a girl at age 11 has accepted that she has
stopped growing and will stay the way she is physically and emotionally and also in her living
situation. In comparison Karl is depicted as hunched with his sudden growth , showing that he is still
changing and ready to continue doing so. He is also given kinder words, such as sweetly curved , fine ,
and girlish . This gives Karl the appearance of a blossoming flower, in comparison with Mary, whose
name is as square and practical as the rest of her . Mary and Karl s contrasting interactions with the
tree encapsulates their differing personalities. Erdrich says that Mary trudged solidly forward, hardly
glancing back meaning that she pays no attention to the sudden hint of hope. The word trudge
encapsulates Mary s resolve to proceed in a dreary fashion, without minding a chance of hope. Karl is
conversely, transfixed, paying no attention to Mary, the dog, or its owner . He most likely feels a
kinship with the tree, as they have both begun to grow rapidly amidst dreary surroundings. Mary and
Karl s contrasting departures encapsulates their differences. Mary runs to her Aunt who was the
intended person that she was to stay with,

Consumer Culture Film Analysis
Marina Souza ICS 392: Consumer Culture Hildebrand 10/29/2016 Assignment #2: Consumer Culture
Film Analysis Wall E In short words, Wall E is the story of a robot who was designed to clean up an
extremely polluted Planet Earth. This animated movie has a much larger meaning than expected it
explains what can happen to our planet if we keep consuming the way we do. As indicated by the
movie, big corporations and greedy consumers destroyed our ecosystem. A planet that was full of
nature, water, fuels, animals and vegetation along with many other things simply vanished because of
a society that consumed too much. It is a pretty scary thought to watch this movie and think about how
we are on a process of doing the exact same thing. With a huge market of major retailers in the world
consuming more than necessary is easier and easier each day. Consumer culture today is thriving but
not necessarily in a good way. As consumer culture thrives, we have desires for products and services.
Consumer spending is a major part of a country s/world s economy and that makes the economy
strong but the aftermath is an unsustainable lifestyle. Although, Wall E didn t indicate exactly what
caused consumers to destroy the planet and then flee for the sake of human survival, there are many
guesses that can be made as to how it happened. One of the major points made in class during week
eight was the fact that the world is becoming overpopulated. This major issue can possibly be

The Bhagavad Git A Conversation Between Arjuna, Krishna...
The Bhagavad Gita focus on a conversation between Arjuna, Krishna and The Blessed one. During
this conversation Arjuna is questioning whether he should fight against his own family. He knows that
it is fate to do so, but he wants to avoid during. The battle is supposed to be physical Arjuna ends
having an emotional battle within himself. To go against his faith or deal with the consequences of
killing his own family. The Bhagavad Gita shows how religion influences a follower s judgement on a
situation. By comparing The Bhagavad Gita to Buddhism it is clear to see how the religions differ on
influence. Arjuna at first has no problem with fighting until he sees his some of family getting ready to
fight for the other. Now he is faced with the dilemma of what should he do? Should he stay true to his
religion or go against his family? Looking at all his relatives come together in both armies the son of
Kunti broke down with deep compassion (Anonymous Pg. 10). Family in India during this time was
very important. Children we raised to respect their elders, siblings and parents. By going against his
family Arjuna was disrespecting them and his culture. The people he was raised to respect were now
his enemies. I see perverse omens; and before me I see no good in killing my people in battle
(Anonymous Pg.11). While he sees no point in killing his family he has to follow fate. No matter how
much he tries to protest he cannot fight what has been predestined for him. At the end

Armed In Schools
Since 2010, there have been 109 school shootings in the United States. This is not new, with the first
recorded school shooting dating back to 1764. Ever since the Columbine shooting on April 20th, 1999,
there has been a debate across the country on gun use and restrictions in the United States. Teachers
need to be armed in schools. The current system of prevention has only shown to be ineffective and
unnecessarily expensive. Firstly, police officers cannot always get to the crime scene in time to
prevent deaths. According to Steve Siebold, a self proclaimed expert and author of the article Every
Teacher in America Should Have a Gun, found in The Huffington Post, he quotes Milwaukee County
Sheriff David Clarke Jr., simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. He is not the
only officer who thinks this, Spartanburg County South Carolina Sheriff Chuck Wright says, Our form

David Thweatt, superintendent of the Harrold Independent School District, says, Violence could
happen anywhere. There are as many ways to address school safety as there are schools in Texas. A
recurring subject is the reliability of the teachers. As for their reliability, ...armed teachers would have
to be volunteers who pass strict psychological testing, and go through at least as much training in
firearms and the judicious use of deadly force as current laws demand of armed security guards
(Ayoob). Officer John Diamond also states that these volunteer staff members would be thoroughly
investigated. The country s current most common prevention tactic is to hire on site police officers. It
costs $45,000 per officer annually to do this. With a large school like Mentor High, which isn t even
the largest high school in the state, a lot of security officers are needed. The numbers add up quickly to
create an enormous sum.

Essay on Christopher Columbus
America s national memory is filled with icons and symbols, avatars of deeply held, yet imperfectly
understood, beliefs. The role of history in the iconography of the United States is pervasive, yet the
facts behind the fiction are somehow lost in an amorphous haze of patriotism and perceived national
identity. Christopher Columbus, as a hero and symbol of the first order in America, is an important
figure in this pantheon of American myth. His status, not unlike most American icons, is
representative not of his own accomplishments, but the self perception of the society which raised him
to his pedestal in the American gallery of heroism.
This gallery was not in place at the birth of the political nation. America, as a young republic, ... Show

People had even more reason to think of themselves in distinctive American terms. (Noble, 250)
Americans, searching for a history and a hero, discovered Columbus. A rash of poetic histories and
references to Columbus emerge in the years following the Revolution: Philip Freneau s The Pictures
of Columbus, Joel Barlow s 1787 The Vision of Columbus, and Phillis Wheatley s 1775 innovation,
the poetic device Columbia as a symbol of both Columbus and America. King s College of New York
changed its name in 1792 to Columbia, and the new capitol in Washington was subtitled District of
Columbia, in deference to those who would name the country after Columbus. Noble observes that,
It is not hard to understand the appeal of Columbus as a totem for the new republic and the former
subjects of George III. Columbus had found the way of escape from Old World tyranny. He was the
solitary individual who challenged the unknown sea, as triumphant Americans contemplated the
dangers and promise of their own wilderness frontier...as a consequence of his vision and audacity,
there was now a land free from kings, a vast continent for new beginnings. In Columbus the new
nation without its own history and mythology found a hero from the distant past, one seemingly free
of any taint from association with European colonial powers. The Columbus symbolism gave America
an instant mythology and a unique place in history, and their adoption of Columbus magnified his own

Essay on The Reality of Political Realism
When discussing whether or not a nation state should enter a war and when to do so, three beliefs on
foreign policy and war exist. The three different diplomatic stances are that of pacifism, just war
theory, and political realism. Political realism, or realpolitik as it is often referred to, is the belief war
should only occur when it is in the national interest of the particular nation state. Henry Kissinger, a
political realist, in his book Diplomacy argues that realism is the only logical answer. Just war
theorists, along with pacifists, on the other hand oppose these arguments and therefore critique of this
form of diplomatic action. To construct a valid understanding of the realist perspective the arguments
Kissinger puts forth in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Darwin s survival of the fittest was a strong belief Roosevelt held and theorized all life followed the
ideas of natural selection. Natural selection and survival of the fittest are theories that the strong will
naturally survive by both, eliminating the weak and having greater likelyhood to pass on.
With the German invasion of Luxenbourgh and Belgium directly breaking treaties previously signed
stating peace Roosevelt stated to not take sides. Roosevelt s reaction was that of no concern at first,
yet he was concerned once war erupted in Europe. Mainly concerned that the war would disrupt the
balance of power in Europe and the German invasions would lead to German invasions pressing
forward into Latin and South America. German military occupations in Latin America would pose a
direct threat for the US if this were to be true. Roosevelt felt the problem would inevitably resolve
itself prior to occupations in Latin America based on the principles that a balance of power still exists.
A balance of power is the way the European government had operated for quite sometime now. If one
nation state became all powerful and started campaigns to take over other nation states in Europe, a
coalition of nation states would form to put down the aggressing nation state to insure the stability of
their own nation state. Therefore, according to Roosevelt and his political realist views, a country

Taking a Look at Prejudice and Ignorance
Prejudice and ignorance are two of the most prominent ills of our society today. The way gay soldiers
are treated today is no exception. Many have been forced to resign due to their sexual orientation,
which has little or nothing to do with their ability as soldiers. Most members of our armed forces have
no experience in relating to gay people, resulting in a fear that has caused pain to many people, both
homosexual and heterosexual. In 2010, Obama put this country into place when he signed the, Don t
Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 . Even though this was signed, it is still a very heated debate
within the government and this society. People should not have to worry about being gay when they
sign up to protect their country. They also should not be judged on the basis of their sexuality. When
Obama signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 , it got rid of the original Don t Ask, Don
t Tell Act that was signed by President Clinton in 1993. The Don t Ask, Don t Tell Act , was not
working out as planned. Instead of helping the gay community, it made things a lot worse. In an article
written by Lincoln Caplan, he states, Investigators routinely ask soldiers to name other marines
rumored to be gay and threaten them if they don t confess to homosexual acts. (Caplan n. pag). Sgt.
Robert S. Nadel, a marine in the military, was once court martialled for allegedly doing homosexual
acts. For Nadel and many other soldiers like him, the real policy was more like

The Theme Of Truth In O s Powman By Piers Plowman
Piers Plowman s whole plot revolves around truth. Piers Plowman is full of many references to truth.
It is defined as all that is morally excellent in the world. Throughout the text, Truth is given all
characteristics of God and the plowman does what is asked of him as if it was his God. This is very
important in itself because if you live a truthful life you will go to heaven. So, if you look up to truth
and almost worship the idea of truth and living a truthful existence, you will be in good fortune in God
s eyes. The lady of lovely looks mentions truth in the first passus:

Firstly, The Wife of Bath differs in her vision of sexuality. She has had many previous husbands, and

The Wife of Bath embraces her sexuality, however for Margery Kempe it is a different story. Chastity

Free Labor Economy
The industrialization of the early republic period boosted the nation s economy and promoted equality
of opportunity but also compromised the quality of life through exploiting women and children for
cheap labor and continuing class conflict
The industrialization time period opened up doors for people and created equality of opportunity. In
the North, they had what was called a free labor economy and this meant they no longer had to depend
on slavery and were free to contract for laborers which stimulated economic growth. The
industrialization and implementation of factories modernized the economy and pushed forth the
western expansion. For the first time, women were no longer bound by gender roles and were able to

One of the biggest downfall was the exploitation of the factory workers and the immorality of the
system. Like the majority of children in mill towns, Sam Patch started work in a factory at the age of
seven. He was forced to work long hours in unsuitable conditions. In the summers it was hot, the
winters were freezing and would often have swollen ankles from standing long periods of time.
Forcing children, like Sam Patch, to work hindered them from individually progressing. Children s
youth was ripped away from them and were never given a chance to get an education. Other factory
workers like low income men, women and immigrants also endured these same struggles and were
prisoners of the factory owners. This type of dependency was essentially a limitation of freedom and
forced these unskilled workers to endure any cruel or unjust conditions because they had nothing else
to fall back on. Thomas Jefferson who was always opposed to an industrial nation, had said when you

Friends is an American sitcom created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman and produced by
Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television.
In 1993 David Crane and Marta Kauffman initially named friends as Insomnia Café. They presented
the project to Bright, and together they purposed it to NBC, which is a commercial TV broadcaster,
this means that this broadcaster is financed by advertisers. Regarding the society issue, Friends satisfy
the need for pluralism, more precisely, it can be watched by different publics (different ages, tastes,

success and this created a strong relation between the broadcaster and the viewers, which in a certain
way pressured the broadcaster to want to continue broadcasting Friends and even offered a superior
amount of money than the revenue from advertising. This strong link allowed the production of two
new seasons, in which the last one had the highest price in television history for a 30 minute series.
Historical, social, cultural, political environment of Friends
Historical environment With the early system modifications many sitcoms and telefilms series started
to be produced in Hollywood. Friends is one of these examples.
Friends portrays the 90s period of the United States in which there were no serious problems. In this
comedy we can see the daily life of the characters and there s no focus on the historical environment.
Social environment
Friends changed sitcoms rules. Particularly, it changed the narrative environment in a sitcom,
changing the main object, the family, to a friends group. During all series friends have a strong impact
in each other s lives, the characters don t live with their families, but with each other, and in some
situations the friends become lovers. They spend the thanks giving holiday together, without their

Jack the ripper? Or jill the ripper?
Inspector Abberline who was on the jack the ripper case, thought that it was a woman who had done it
the entire time. The theory started after one of the murders of a woman named Mary Kelly. Mary
Kelly was murdered between the hours of 2 and 3 in the morning. Yet Caroline Maxwell had claimed
to see her twice that morning after the time she was said to have passed. She claimed to have seen
Mary Kelly at around 8am looking sick. And again around an hour later talking to some man outside
the pub house. It would be very easy for a midwife to pull of being jack the ripper. It was not unusual
for a midwife to be walking around all hours of the night, let alone have blood on her clothes because
people would have just thought it was from her working. And she could walk in broad daylight with
no one questioning her because everyone was looking for a man. And not a woman.

Reasons for Russia s October Revolution
What were the reasons for the October revolution?
The revolution in Russia started spontaneously in February 1917 when the Bolsheviks leader Vladimir
Lenin plotted to overthrow the government and take power. The Tsar in Russia Nicholas II was
abdicated in March 1917 and the provisional committee of the Duma formed the provisional
government. The duel power interrupted the government authority and the soviets were in control.
Now the provisional government decided to continue with the war because western allies were
needed. That was a mistake along other major mistakes such as putting off the promised reforms
which of course did upset the peasants and the government also postponed the election. After the fail
of the February revolution Lenin returned to Russia in April and he released his new thesis that stated
that the Bolsheviks supports the Soviets. With the Bolsheviks representing only 10% Lenin attempt to
advocate a break with the provisional government failed. The July days between the 3rd and the 6th
were a disaster for the Bolsheviks. The demonstrations were easily crushed by the government and
members of the Bolsheviks were arrested. In August, general Kornilov who hated the left wing
including Lenin and the soviets plotted for a right wing revolt he wanted to protect Petrograd from the
Germans. His attempt was not successful. The Kornilov arrest influenced Kerensky and he feared the
worst and released the Bolsheviks prisoners. In September with the Bolsheviks

The Rise Of Mass Transit
The rise of mass transit in the beginning seemed like a great idea everything did seem to go well and it
really benefited the majority of Americans. Many people used mass transit as a faster efficient way to
get around that they had never seen before. Electric trolleys as started in the article The Rise and Fall
of mass transit were the start of the urban expansion that came about. At the time real estate owners
and transit owners developed a good system to ensure economic development in the cities. In the early
1900s there was a decline in mass transit development although there was a development in
automobile technology. As said in the passage entrepreneurs and private corporations came together
and invested more in street cars these were the reason as to why there was such a corruption in mass
transit. During this time Americans demands a better control of the mass transit system which was
necessary and these large corporations had no interest in the welfare of the citizens rather only in
making a large profit. The Americans demanded a reliable, efficient and inexpensive mass transit
system a lot of these people could not afford automobiles for several reasons. GM argued why buses
were a more reliable and dependent form of trans portion than railroads. Therefore the government
started to support more auto mobile ideas, rather than the railroads. The government started to give

Sexual Rhetors In Response To The Tweeden Scandal
In 2006, Leeann Tweeden was a performer alongside Al Franken on a U.S.O tour abroad. During
transportation from one location to another, Ms. Tweeden fell asleep, Mr. Franken took advantage of
her sleeping state and took a picture with his hands placed over her breasts. She was not made aware
of the pictures existence until she was back in America for quite some time. According to Tweeden,
Franken also forced himself on her while they were rehearsing. Tweeden came forward after
discussing her experience with Democrat Representative Jackie Speier, a leading voice in ending
sexual harassment on Capitol Hill. Sexual misconduct among political leaders in our nation has long
been a part of work life on Capitol Hill (Fandos), especially in light of the prior conduct of our
President, the conversation surrounding this topic has never been more pressing. After examining the
rhetoric used by Al Franken and respective media groups in response to the Tweeden Scandal, it can
clearly be observed that the differing motivations of the rhetors drastically shape the rhetoric produced
even though the exigence and audiences are the same.
Firstly, for rhetoric to be established, there must be something to which rhetors respond. The event
must be significant and present (for both the rhetor and audience), so that the response envisioned by
the rhetor can occur. The sexual misconduct of Al Franken is both significant and present because it
enters into the dialogue surrounding the post Harvey

Alzheimer s Disease ( Ad ) Is A Neurodegenerative...
Alzheimer s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative condition that affects the memory function, which is
a huge public health concern among the elderly population. It has affected more than five million
individuals in the United States and that number is expected to quadruple by the 2050 if interventions
are not found. AD has a huge affect on the world not only by the number of deaths that it is causing
but also the amount of health care costs reaching around 100 billion dollars. Because of the increase of
AD throughout the globe, the aging population should consider the intake of certain vitamins and
nutrients in their daily lives to possibly reduce or prevent the onset of AD. Nutritional factors and
nutritional deficiencies have a very strong correlation with cognitive decline as illustrated throughout
the study done by Angelo Parigi, Francesco Panza, Cristiano Capurso, and Vincenzo Solfrizzi. Ones
dietary habits and nutritional deficiencies have a huge determining factor on cognitive impairment on
an individual with AD. B vitamins have a relationship with cognitive dysfunction in many
observational studies as well as clinical and epidemiological studies. Another type of vitamin that was
found to correspond with cognitive impairment is folate (B9) and cobalamine (B12), the studies that
were done on these two types of vitamins did find the determinants with cognitive impairment in AD.
The elderly populations is among the highest at risk for nutritional deficiencies, with

Persuasive Essay On Christmas Research Paper
The most collectively celebrated holiday of the year is undeniably December 25th, Christmas. Most
people acknowledge that the Christ in Christmas is representative of Jesus Christ, Son of God, and for
Christians, the day is set aside as a celebration of his birth. Many people in the United States (and
world) however, either do not believe in the Christian view of Christmas, have different non Christian
religious beliefs or celebrate for other reasons, if at all. Because of the multi cultural differences that
incorporate our country, Christmas should be declared by Congress as simply a Federal Holiday. This
would be achieved if the dominant Christ aspect from Christ mas was removed by renaming the
holiday to The Winter Holiday, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many secular traditions have been incorporated in America over the last 140 years including tree
decorating, exchanging cards and gifts, non religious Christmas songs, Santa Claus, twinkling lights,
among many other traditions. Some of these traditions were expanded from religious traditions for
example; gift giving is based on the belief that The Three Wise Men brought gifts to Jesus in the
manger. However commercialism has long owned this tradition and in fact, it has been widely
recognized that Thanksgiving Day and Christmas are necessary for getting the economy moving and
out of the red hence; Black Friday, the first day of the holiday shopping season. It is also true that
President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving to the fourth Thursday of November in order to
extend the holiday shopping season for precisely this purpose.
Congress declared December 25th a federal holiday in the United States in 1870. President Ulysses S.
Grant signed the bill to enact Christmas along with 3 other holidays: New Year s, July 4th and
Thanksgiving as public holidays. Many people however believe that including Christmas with these
secular holidays was an error because back then Christmas only meant the celebration of Jesus birth,
which is construed by many as a conflict of the separation of church and state. The First Amendment
of our Constitution clearly states, Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of

WPU Concert Critique
Musical Critique On November 9th, I attended the fall semester concert of William Penn University
Department of Fine at the MTC. The WPU singers were directed by Anita Meinert and the WPU Jazz
Ensemble was directed by Scott Cressley. I was mislead by the online website, it had the wrong time
posted. Consequently, I arrived about a half hour into the concert. Of course I didn t know this at the
time. I simply thought everyone had gotten there early so they started a bit before the time the website
had posted. I was soon told by another classmate that I was in fact very late. But, what I did hear of
the concert surprised me. The songs performed by the Jazz ensemble were Time Check arranged by

As stated before I was blown away to see the talent here, I had no idea. However, I am not sure if it
was the room or the speakers, but everything seemed a little too loud. I have a hard time hearing, I am
a bit deaf in my left ear, but I sure could here what was being played that night. So much so that it
made my eyes squint a little. Especially, when the band was in full swing and really feeling the music.
Like I said it didn t sound bad it was just loud and I was even sitting towards the back of the room. So
I could only imagine how blown away literally the front row was. The set itself was simple and to the
point. It was held at the Musco Technology Center also known as the MTC. The room was for a more
intimate audience you could see by looking around that people were having a good time. For the most
part it looked like it mostly brought out an older crowd as do most production in this town. I don t
understand why more people from my generation don t go out and experience these type of things.
However, I liked that it had high ceilings and the room seemed pretty filled. I personally think that the
lights should have been dimed, it would have added to the mood of the whole

Museum Of Archaeology Essay
Introduction
Good Morning everyone, today I will be taking you on a tour through the Museum of Archaeology.
On today s excursion you will acquire the knowledge of what archaeology is, what archaeologist do,
learn about one of the most outstanding archaeologist from the past 200 years, get to observe 2
artefacts from the Pandora and discover how they teach us about the everyday life of an 18th century
soldier.
Definition
Archaeology is not just digging , although the excavation of artefacts is important there are many
more aspects involved that are all as significant. Archaeology can best be described as the study of
extinct human cultures (Woodbury, 2008). There are 3 different fields of archaeologist, these being

The Pandora wreck is considered to be a significant historical event as of it link to the mutiny on the
Bounty(Queensland Museum,20??). The wreck itself was great archaeological find has nearly 30% of
original hull was kept preserved along with many artefacts. This is due to what archaeologist refer to
as the Pompeii effect which means that all artefacts were remained unremoved from their original
state(Queensland Museum,20??). This is because once the ship sunk instead of completely breaking
apart on the seafloor the vessel held together and a layer of sand soon covered it shielding it from the
sun protecting all of the artefacts inside (Museum of Tropical Queensland, 2016: Field Notes).
Artefacts are best described as tangible items created by humans, just behind me you will notice two
artefacts found in the Pandora wreck edge, a spruce pot and a french pistol. Both of these artefacts can
reveal tons of information on what life was like for an 18th century english soldier. Let s start with the
spruce pots, spruce pots were small round bottles that contained medicine for when crew members
caught scurvy, in fact 200 of these spruce pots have been found. Scurvy is a very common disease for
sailors and was caused a by a deficiency in vitamin C (Museum of Tropical Queensland, 2016: Field
Notes). This artefact shows us how undernourished the soldiers and how this led them to contract
scurvy. During the long journeys the food would run out so Captain Edwards tried his best to keep the
ship loaded with fresh food to prevent any of the crew from getting sick. The second artefact is the
Flintlock Pistol and butt cap or more commonly know just as a French pistol. Although the Pandora
was never attacked all members were expected to know how to fire a gun (Museum of Tropical
Queensland, 2016: Field Notes). This can

Puerto Rico American Culture Essay
Culture is a way that a particular group of people from the same background act. Like the way they
live or the way they speak their language, it could also be defined as the art of the culture and the
foods they eat, even the religion plays a role in culture. Puerto Rico is located in the Caribbean and is
east of the Dominican Republic and is also a part of the United States. In the Puerto Rican culture, art,
literature, music, and education are important to them in the 8 elements of culture. In Puerto Rico,
geography, modes of expression, values and religion, and social organization show how the Puerto
Rican culture is formed.
Geography is one of the elements that form the Puerto Rican culture. Puerto Rico is three times the
size of Rhode Island. In addition, the coastline is 501 km and they have constant droughts and
hurricanes. (CIA.Gov) Due to the environment, they suffer from erosion and some water ... Show

In Puerto Rico, 85% of people are Catholic and 8% are Protestant. Puerto Rico has a small Jewish
community, however mostly everyone is Catholic. However, most people still worship even if they
don t belong to a certain religion. The African and Latin American also have influenced the practices
of their religion. The ceremonies include marriage, baptism, and funerals and are still part of the
Catholic tradition. Puerto Ricans celebrate all holidays with dancing, being with family, and home
fiestas. Home fiestas are when the whole family comes together and celebrates holidays. They also
believe in death and the afterlife. They have vigils or wakes which are known as days of prayer.
Medicine in Puerto Rico is just like the medication in the United States, but in some places they still
use curanderos which are native curers and use them with religious rituals to heal the sick. Lastly,
Religion and Values are important because it shows what their culture believes

Theories Of Natural Selection And Psychoanalytic...
Charles Darwin and Sigmund Freud are both widely known respectively for their natural selection and
psychoanalytic personality theories. Charles Darwin helped further the field of evolutionary
psychology while Sigmund Freud helped discover the unconscious which is still debated to this day
about whether it is real. Darwin s natural selection theory talks about how organisms adapt to survive
and the two types of sexual selection which is intersexual and intrasexual selection. Freud s theory of
psychoanalytic personality talks about how the id, ego, and superego affects our behavior and talks
about how our unconscious is a very important aspect in our lives. Both theories comprehensiveness,
theoretical soundness, and empirical value have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those that survive these forces, passes it on to their offspring and increases their survivability during
these conditions while those that don t survive these forces, dies off and their genes don t pass off to
future generations. These things listed above regarding natural selection shows that organisms adapt to
survive. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual
competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is
of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the
winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future
generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection
is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with
the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future
generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The
psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and
superego. According to Freud, we are born with the id and is where all our urges and drives occur. We
just want whatever we want and want it right then and there. This is called the pleasure principle.

Okonkwo s Obsession With His Father
Okonkwo is a character who has some positive traits but are greatly outweighed by his negative ones
including not being in control of his emotions and actions, constantly providing excuses for these
actions leaving him with no respect from me and an overall dislike. To start Okonkwo has an
obsession with his father. He was possessed by the fear of his father s contemptible life and shameful
life (Chapter 1) Unoka, his father was looked down upon by the village due to his laziness and
unsuccessfulness. In their village culture, Unoka could not have a proper burial due to his cause of
death and was shamed for it. However, this aside Unoka was incredibly caring, relaxed and was a very
good musician. Okonkwo who loathes his father, goes out of his way to avoid these traits. For
example he beats his wives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It can be said that Okonkwo was doomed from the start seeing as his father did not provide for him,
leaving him to fend for himself early on but for me it is another sad excuse for his inexcusable actions.
Despite these very negative traits, Okonkwo does possesses some positive ones. For instance he is
very hardworking. This is shown throughout the book especially during harvest and planting seasons.
However Okonkwo s hard work does not make up for the fact that he is not in control of his
passionate hate for his father and fear of becoming like Unoka, allowing it overcome him causing him
to physically hurting people in his life. I have no respect for Okonkwo seeing as his actions due to his
fear and hate of his father paired with his excuses are not something that should ever be respected or
even tolerated leaving me to dislike him

The Pros And Cons Of AIDS Testing For Healthcare...
In 1993, The New York Times wrote an article about a dentist in Florida who infected six of his
patients. It had become an unsolved mystery as no one is sure how it happened. It is thought he might
have accidently cut himself or poked his finger with a needle and infected the patients that way. The
articles went on to discuss whether AIDS testing should be mandated for all healthcare professionals.
Some people viewed the dentist as being no better than a murder.
Before his death, the dentist wrote: I am a gentle man, and I would never intentionally expose anyone
to this disease. I have cared for people all my life, and to infect anyone with this disease would be
contrary to everything I have stood for.

Jack’s Transformation in Jack and the Beanstalk Essay
Jack and the Beanstalk Jack s Transformation
Jack and the Beanstalk is an example of a Buildungsroman. As the tale progresses, Jack evolves from
an immature person into a mature, self assertive person. While minor differences exist in various
versions of the tale, such as those between Joseph Jacobs and Horace Elisha Scudder s versions, the
tale can always be read as Jack s quest for maturity. Some critics, however, analyze the tale as one in
which Jack remains spoiled and immature. While they make points which support their claims, careful
analysis of the tale will reveal that Jack s struggle to grow up and to achieve maturity is representative
of the difficult process of adolescent (especially male) maturation and the ... Show more content on

A closer reading, though, reveals why entering into the Giant s land and stealing the Giant s treasures
is significant to the progress of Jack s maturity.
Jack does indeed begin as an immature, spoiled child. In Scudder s version, which is a moral version
containing a fairy who justifies Jack s decision to steal the Giant s treasures, Jack s mother blames him
for making her a beggar (23). In Jacobs version, which is a traditional version without the fairy, Jack s
inability to get a job shows his immaturity. As Martha Wolfenstein states, Jack is spoiled or lazy or
cannot hold a job or . . . has carelessly exhausted the family substance (243). When the cow, Milky
white, stops giving milk, Jack s mother sends him to the marketplace to sell the cow for money
(Jacobs 59). This venture is a very important first step in Jack s road to maturity, though it may not
seem so at the time. This is the first time that we know of Jack s mother ever sending him to the
market. According to Bruno Bettelheim, this first encounter with the world represents the end of
infancy for Jack. As Bettelheim reminds us, Jack s mother demands that he learn to make do with
what the outside world can offer (188). Now that Jack can no longer expect his mother to do
everything for him, he realizes that he must take steps toward maturity. As Bettelheim says, The child
then has to begin the long and difficult

Psychological Aspects Of Sexually Abused Women And The...
Introduction The topic of this article will focus on psychological aspects of sexually abused women
and the trauma recovery and empowerment. Sexual abuse can be well defined as sexual assaults and
sexual exploitation of the individual, which include the following: Rape, Incest, Molestation and
Voyeurism. An assortment of 15 empirical studies will compare and contrast their findings of
psychological sexual abuse and trauma recovery. Individuals that are victims of sexual abuse can
undergo many issues for the victim to inflict upon. Despite the fact that sexual abuse does mark males,
women are at a higher rate to be sexually abused. In fact, one out of three females is a victim of sexual
abuse (SA) or sexual violence (SV). 13% of women and 6% of men have reported they experienced
sexual cohesion in their lifetime (Sexual Violence, 2014). Sexual abuse not merely leaves a victim
with lengthily problems but also a lifetime of psychological difficulties when treatment is not sought
after. Research further suggests that certain characteristics of the abusive experience father daughter
incest, physical force and level of sexual activity tend to be associated with a more negative long term
outcome in women (Coffey, 1996). Sexual abuse may stint from early childhood that has continued to
surface in adulthood or a specific incident that occurred in adulthood. Either way the psychological
aspect of abuse can be a vast amount of emotional and mental disorders. For example, the

Structure And Behaviour Of An Enterprise Architecture
Enterprise Architecture
There are a number of definitions that exist of Enterprise Architecture. An enterprise is a collaborative
collection of sub organizations with a shared objective. Architecture is a description of the structure
and behaviour of a system. Therefore enterprise architecture is a documentation describing the
structure and behaviour of an enterprise including its information systems. There is need for flexibility
and resilience in Enterprise Architecture. A lot depends on what sort of a framework you can use.
Some popular frameworks include TOGAF of The Open Group and smaller ones like Zackman.
Within the framework there is the content which includes structure and metamodel.
The framework also contains the activities which need to occur. The framework also helps with the
description of an organization, that is, its people and the different roles that are involved. Large
enterprises can be very complex therefore; there is need for ways in which these complexities can be
introduced. Segmenting is one way that helps reduce the complexity like in governments where there
are many agencies. Another way of breaking down these complex systems is by looking at different
domains. Typically, there are four main domains. The first domain is the business architecture, that is,
why the business exists. It covers things like business objectives, strategic thinking and goals; also it
then covers what capabilities the business has, what processes, what functions, what

  • 6. Reflective Practice Research Paper Reflective Practice (RP) is a concept embedded nowadays in most of the educational and healthcare professional curriculums in UK, but it is much more developed and almost mandatory in nursing than in any other field (Hebert, Finlay 2008, GMC, NMC, Wilson 1996). This trend is based not only on learning theories, professional requirements and patient expectation but also for the numerous benefits that have been described such as enhancing the competence of self directed lifelong learning, professional development and critical thinking among others. This beside of some drawbacks that have been highlighted (tsingos). • 7. The Beet Queen This excerpt from The Beet Queen by Louise Erdrich occurs during the Great Depression, in 1932. Mary and Karl came to North Dakota on the train to see their aunt Fritzie. Erdrich s choice of third person narration, detached tone, and bleak imagery paired with a juxtaposition between Karl and Mary, sets up a bleak beginning to a story that begins in a bleak time period in American history. Erdrich chooses to convey this scene through third person narration and an ambivalent tone in order to convey the bleak setting of this story. On a cold spring morning in 1932, the train brought both an addition and a subtraction . This quote outlines the majority of the passage while also foreshadowing the ending of the story. The third person perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mary is described as so short and ordinary that it was obvious she would be this way all of her life . This creates an aura of hopeless resignation about Mary; that a girl at age 11 has accepted that she has stopped growing and will stay the way she is physically and emotionally and also in her living situation. In comparison Karl is depicted as hunched with his sudden growth , showing that he is still changing and ready to continue doing so. He is also given kinder words, such as sweetly curved , fine , and girlish . This gives Karl the appearance of a blossoming flower, in comparison with Mary, whose name is as square and practical as the rest of her . Mary and Karl s contrasting interactions with the tree encapsulates their differing personalities. Erdrich says that Mary trudged solidly forward, hardly glancing back meaning that she pays no attention to the sudden hint of hope. The word trudge encapsulates Mary s resolve to proceed in a dreary fashion, without minding a chance of hope. Karl is conversely, transfixed, paying no attention to Mary, the dog, or its owner . He most likely feels a kinship with the tree, as they have both begun to grow rapidly amidst dreary surroundings. Mary and Karl s contrasting departures encapsulates their differences. • 8. Consumer Culture Film Analysis Marina Souza ICS 392: Consumer Culture Hildebrand 10/29/2016 Assignment #2: Consumer Culture Film Analysis Wall E In short words, Wall E is the story of a robot who was designed to clean up an extremely polluted Planet Earth. This animated movie has a much larger meaning than expected it explains what can happen to our planet if we keep consuming the way we do. As indicated by the movie, big corporations and greedy consumers destroyed our ecosystem. A planet that was full of nature, water, fuels, animals and vegetation along with many other things simply vanished because of a society that consumed too much. It is a pretty scary thought to watch this movie and think about how we are on a process of doing the exact same thing. With a huge market of major retailers in the world consuming more than necessary is easier and easier each day. Consumer culture today is thriving but not necessarily in a good way. As consumer culture thrives, we have desires for products and services. Consumer spending is a major part of a country s/world s economy and that makes the economy strong but the aftermath is an unsustainable lifestyle. Although, Wall E didn t indicate exactly what caused consumers to destroy the planet and then flee for the sake of human survival, there are many guesses that can be made as to how it happened. One of the major points made in class during week eight was the fact that the world is becoming overpopulated. This major issue can possibly be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Bhagavad Git A Conversation Between Arjuna, Krishna... The Bhagavad Gita focus on a conversation between Arjuna, Krishna and The Blessed one. During this conversation Arjuna is questioning whether he should fight against his own family. He knows that it is fate to do so, but he wants to avoid during. The battle is supposed to be physical Arjuna ends having an emotional battle within himself. To go against his faith or deal with the consequences of killing his own family. The Bhagavad Gita shows how religion influences a follower s judgement on a situation. By comparing The Bhagavad Gita to Buddhism it is clear to see how the religions differ on influence. Arjuna at first has no problem with fighting until he sees his some of family getting ready to fight for the other. Now he is faced with the dilemma of what should he do? Should he stay true to his religion or go against his family? Looking at all his relatives come together in both armies the son of Kunti broke down with deep compassion (Anonymous Pg. 10). Family in India during this time was very important. Children we raised to respect their elders, siblings and parents. By going against his family Arjuna was disrespecting them and his culture. The people he was raised to respect were now his enemies. I see perverse omens; and before me I see no good in killing my people in battle (Anonymous Pg.11). While he sees no point in killing his family he has to follow fate. No matter how much he tries to protest he cannot fight what has been predestined for him. At the end ... Ever since the Columbine shooting on April 20th, 1999, there has been a debate across the country on gun use and restrictions in the United States. Teachers need to be armed in schools. The current system of prevention has only shown to be ineffective and unnecessarily expensive. Firstly, police officers cannot always get to the crime scene in time to prevent deaths. According to Steve Siebold, a self proclaimed expert and author of the article Every Teacher in America Should Have a Gun, found in The Huffington Post, he quotes Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke Jr., simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option. There are as many ways to address school safety as there are schools in Texas. A recurring subject is the reliability of the teachers. Officer John Diamond also states that these volunteer staff members would be thoroughly investigated. The country s current most common prevention tactic is to hire on site police officers. It costs $45,000 per officer annually to do this. With a large school like Mentor High, which isn t even the largest high school in the state, a lot of security officers are needed. • 11. Essay on Christopher Columbus America s national memory is filled with icons and symbols, avatars of deeply held, yet imperfectly understood, beliefs. The role of history in the iconography of the United States is pervasive, yet the facts behind the fiction are somehow lost in an amorphous haze of patriotism and perceived national identity. Christopher Columbus, as a hero and symbol of the first order in America, is an important figure in this pantheon of American myth. His status, not unlike most American icons, is representative not of his own accomplishments, but the self perception of the society which raised him to his pedestal in the American gallery of heroism. This gallery was not in place at the birth of the political nation. America, as a young republic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People had even more reason to think of themselves in distinctive American terms. (Noble, 250) Americans, searching for a history and a hero, discovered Columbus. A rash of poetic histories and references to Columbus emerge in the years following the Revolution: Philip Freneau s The Pictures of Columbus, Joel Barlow s 1787 The Vision of Columbus, and Phillis Wheatley s 1775 innovation, the poetic device Columbia as a symbol of both Columbus and America. King s College of New York changed its name in 1792 to Columbia, and the new capitol in Washington was subtitled District of Columbia, in deference to those who would name the country after Columbus. Noble observes that, It is not hard to understand the appeal of Columbus as a totem for the new republic and the former subjects of George III. Columbus had found the way of escape from Old World tyranny. He was the solitary individual who challenged the unknown sea, as triumphant Americans contemplated the dangers and promise of their own wilderness frontier...as a consequence of his vision and audacity, there was now a land free from kings, a vast continent for new beginnings. In Columbus the new nation without its own history and mythology found a hero from the distant past, one seemingly free of any taint from association with European colonial powers. • 13. Essay on The Reality of Political Realism When discussing whether or not a nation state should enter a war and when to do so, three beliefs on foreign policy and war exist. The three different diplomatic stances are that of pacifism, just war theory, and political realism. Political realism, or realpolitik as it is often referred to, is the belief war should only occur when it is in the national interest of the particular nation state. Henry Kissinger, a political realist, in his book Diplomacy argues that realism is the only logical answer. Just war theorists, along with pacifists, on the other hand oppose these arguments and therefore critique of this form of diplomatic action. To construct a valid understanding of the realist perspective the arguments Kissinger puts forth in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Darwin s survival of the fittest was a strong belief Roosevelt held and theorized all life followed the ideas of natural selection. Natural selection and survival of the fittest are theories that the strong will naturally survive by both, eliminating the weak and having greater likelyhood to pass on. With the German invasion of Luxenbourgh and Belgium directly breaking treaties previously signed stating peace Roosevelt stated to not take sides. Roosevelt s reaction was that of no concern at first, yet he was concerned once war erupted in Europe. Mainly concerned that the war would disrupt the balance of power in Europe and the German invasions would lead to German invasions pressing forward into Latin and South America. German military occupations in Latin America would pose a direct threat for the US if this were to be true. Roosevelt felt the problem would inevitably resolve itself prior to occupations in Latin America based on the principles that a balance of power still exists. A balance of power is the way the European government had operated for quite sometime now. If one nation state became all powerful and started campaigns to take over other nation states in Europe, a coalition of nation states would form to put down the aggressing nation state to insure the stability of their own nation state. • 14. Taking a Look at Prejudice and Ignorance Prejudice and ignorance are two of the most prominent ills of our society today. The way gay soldiers are treated today is no exception. Many have been forced to resign due to their sexual orientation, which has little or nothing to do with their ability as soldiers. Most members of our armed forces have no experience in relating to gay people, resulting in a fear that has caused pain to many people, both homosexual and heterosexual. In 2010, Obama put this country into place when he signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 . Even though this was signed, it is still a very heated debate within the government and this society. People should not have to worry about being gay when they sign up to protect their country. They also should not be judged on the basis of their sexuality. When Obama signed the, Don t Ask, Don t Tell Repeal Act of 2010 , it got rid of the original Don t Ask, Don t Tell Act that was signed by President Clinton in 1993. The Don t Ask, Don t Tell Act , was not working out as planned. Instead of helping the gay community, it made things a lot worse. In an article written by Lincoln Caplan, he states, Investigators routinely ask soldiers to name other marines rumored to be gay and threaten them if they don t confess to homosexual acts. Darwin also proposed that there are two types of sexual selection which is intrasexual competition and intersexual selection. Intrasexual competition is when two of the same species that is of the same sex go against each other and the winner has a higher selection of mates. Usually the winner has better qualities that help increase survivability. They pass their genes on to future generations which helps increase survivability over the whole species eventually. Intersexual selection is when mates are chosen because of the certain qualities that an organism is looking for. Species with the characteristics desired tend to mate more which means most of those genes carry over to future generations. Genes tend to slowly disappear from the species if they don t mate as often. The psychoanalytic personality theory is composed of three structures of the mind: the id, ego, and superego. When the cow, Milky white, stops giving milk, Jack s mother sends him to the marketplace to sell the cow for money (Jacobs 59). This venture is a very important first step in Jack s road to maturity, though it may not seem so at the time. This is the first time that we know of Jack s mother ever sending him to the market.
