Improving Business Performance ( 2nd Ed
The process view of work, in chapter one of Statistical thinking: Improving business performance
(2nd Ed. People are encouraged to blame the process, not themselves when working to improve.
Joseph M. Juran pointed out that the source of most problems is in the process we use to do our work.
He discovered the 85/15 rule, which states that 85% of the problems are in the process and the
remaining 15% are due to the people who operate the process. W. Edwards Deming states that the true
figure is more like 96/4.We may debate the correct figure, but it is clear that the vast majority of
problems are in the process. (Horel Snee, 2012) To summarize what is stated that the error is the

Budget Cuts
As most people will agree, education is an important factor to succeed. Educated people in a society
stand for a successful society. The issue in Illinois is the universities aren t being provided the funds
promised to them by the Illinois State government. The schools are being forced to make budget cuts.
The teachers at the schools are being forced to take furlough days, which are day they have take off
with out a pay. The cause of all of these actions is due to the major debt the State of Illinois is in. The
money the state should be paying the universities, the state is using it on other items. University of
Illinois is one of the schools that has to take budget cuts. This is unfair to the University of Illinois
because the State ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another step the government can take is reducing spending. Instead of having the schools have budget
cut the government should cut their own budget. Another step the government can take is increasing
taxes. This might not seem appealing to most people in the state of Illinois but it will help the state
tremendously. The state of Illinois really needs the money and without it the state will not be financial
stable for a really long time. The government of Illinois needs to take these actions as soon as possible
so they can provide the money to school for better education and better lives for the people of

The Dokdo Dispute Between South Korea and Japan
Dokdo Dispute An enduring dispute over Dokdo Island has proven difficult to resolve. Japan and
Korea have been having an argument over the island for sovereignty ever since 1910 (South). This
island has three names, Dokdo, Takeshima, and Liancourt. Dokdo, a solitary island, is a Korean name
for this island. Takeshima, a Bamboo Island, is what Japanese call it. Both Japan and South Korea
uses historical facts to support their claims for the island (Profile). To what extent is the dispute
between Korea and Japan an issue about resources versus history? South Korea claims that Liancourt
Island was originally their territory ever since Kim Isabu conquered the island (우산국). After the
liberation from Japan, South Korean government argues they got the island back from Japan and got
an official approve by Japan in 1696. In 1900, Uldo County possessed the island, but Japan took over
the island when they colonized South Korea. However after World War 1, Japan returned Dokdo to
Korea. On a government website (The Foreign Office of Dokdo) says, that Dokdo belongs to Korea in
terms of history and geography (Profile). Korea supports their argument with historical contents.
Due to the various evidences from different antique map, Dokdo belongs to Korean territory before
the modern days. Japan, who launched 1904 Russo Japanese Wars, used 한일의정서, a treatment
between Korea and Japan about allowing Japan to create a facilities of army on our territory during the
war, as an excuse for their

Spanish Speaking Countries Essay
American sports and Spanish speaking countries sports are very distinct to the countries cultures. In
Spanish speaking countries, many people play, watch, and are passionate for the sport fútbol (soccer).
Sports influence people s lives today in many ways, some being the culture of the sport, watching the
games on tv, or meeting your role model sports player. Soccer in America is looked at way differently
than fútbol (soccer) in Spanish speaking countries. Soccer here in America is looked at as a fun family
night with food, drinks, and merchandise. While in Spanish speaking countries they see fútbol (soccer)
as a way of life. They eat, sleep, and breathe the sport. They are very passionate in watching and
playing it.
In America the approximate amount of people that watch soccer is 14,156,000. In Spanish speaking
countries that number goes way up. There about 15.9 million people that watch soccer on average.
The number one ranked sport in the U.S is American Football. Soccer is ranked number three. In

every so often to make sure people don t break this rule. If you do your punishment ranges from
suspensions to paying money. The game American Football is played the same in both places. You
have 4 downs until the ball goes to the other team, you get 6 points for a touchdown and can either go
for 2 or kick a field goal. Lastly, drafting is the same. In America if you play college football and want
to get drafted you go to the NFL draft and wait to hear your name. If you do not hear your name, then
you did not make it. In Spanish speaking countries it goes the same way except there is less

Language Acquisition and Development
It is my pleasure to announce that I have gained quite many theories and knowledge about children s
language acquisition and language development process to analyze the condition of Tom and provide
some personal suggestions for his parents. The following statements are my analysis considering to
the language theories proposed by researchers and a repercussion for my personal experience.
Nature versus Nurture
It was suggested in Chapter 2 that there are two theories regarding the language acquisition, nurture or
nature. Most behaviorists suggested that the child develops language due to nurture, which means that
the environmental exposure is the key to child s language development; whereas most nativists
considered that the child develops language due to nature, and the brain drives development and
children are born with the biology to acquire language.
According to BF Skinner, who developed Operant Conditioning Theory, in his 1957 classic, Verbal
Behavior, which Skinner reports the language is obtained by reinforcing modeling and continuous
practicing. His theory is based on the precondition that a behavior may increase or decrease
determined by what happens after a behavior occurs and thus external forces may modify the
behavior. It has been suggested in Language Arts journal of Michigan that speech instruction is very
fundamental in children s language development. Most of the times, it could be traced that there are
some patterns lied in children s reaction to various

While this appears to be a good datapoint in that it is a direct correlation to butter related activities.
Training is relative to education and compensation is relative to pay and benefits. A number of
questions which arise: If 80% of the military budget is relative to butter related activities, and 20% is
being spent for direct defense related efforts, then why are these costs included in the defense budget?
Would shifting the costs for military training be better suited at the Department of Labor (current
budget of $11.8 billion)? Would shifting the costs for compensation related healthcare be better
situated at the Department of Health and Human Services (current budget s $77.1 billion) and the
Department of Veterans Affairs (current budget s $65.3 billion)?
If Hanson s belief of a strong military is sincere, then innovative thinking in a collaborative approach
to the defense of the nation is needed. In the case of calendar year 2013, moving 80% of the defense
budget to butter related activities would reduce defense spending by $386 billion dollars. This would
therefore allow for defense related activities to be focused on appropriately.

diversifying rate of employee turnover at TFT Corporation with no exertion of extreme pressure on
the existing resources (material, human, and monetary). Employees can leave one firm for another in
the quest for better payments, better working environment, better organizational culture, and freedom

TFT Corporation loses an average of thirty employees every year since 2013 and hence enacts a
recruitment strategy at the start of every successive year to compensate the created vacancies. Besides
to that, the company has noted a declining trend in the profit trend since the existing consumers are
losing their confidence in the productivity of the corporation. Retention of specialized employees in a
firm upholds the consumers trust in a company s potential to meet the underlying customer needs
optimally. This trend accounts for the corporation s statistics whereby it had noted a decrease in
aggregate sales from $46 billion in 2014 to $40 billion in December 2015. The high employee
turnover rate in TFT Corporation is adversely affecting the company s economic growth and
competitiveness. PROJECT GOAL I propose to present practical strategies targeted at reducing the
final rate of employee turnover at TFT Corporation to a reasonably productive rate like one or two
employees per year. I recommend the establishment of winning strategies for employee motivation,
setting of promotion strategies based on employee performance, and training of employees. PLAN OF
PROPOSED WORK The project will cover seven main strategies whereby the following will be
enacted. The plans entail effective employee motivation; promotion based on employee job
performance; Training of employees;

Gender Socialization and Fatherhood
In the Skolnick section on Daddy, Baby, Momma, Maybe, low income men who became fathers while
in a relationship and those not in a romantic relationship were followed and interviewed during the
early years of fatherhood. It is interesting to note that none of the men were married before the
pregnancy, as well as none of the men had planned the pregnancy. Both the decision to get married or
to have a baby requires much thought, consideration, and planning. Isn t the problem with the large
number of unsuccessful family outcomes with these men not more related to being in this unplanned
situation more responsible than their low economic situation? Sure the added stress of being low

Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket
Stanley Kubrick s Full Metal Jacket begins with a dramatic, and kind of comedic, portrayal of U.S.
boot camp training during the Vietnam War era, an era where people were drafted for the military. The
obese and clumsy Private Pyle struggles to cope with the physical and mental pressures of military
training and the drill instructor, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, shows no empathy for his struggles.
When the platoon exercises with obstacles, Private Pyle fails to climb the dirty name obstacle because
of his obesity, but Hartman continuously berates and screams at him for his failure saying your ass
looks like about a hundred and fifty pounds of chewed bubble gum (Full Metal Jacket). It doesn t stop
there: too unfit to do a pull up, Pyle is called a worthless piece of shit (Full Metal Jacket). Finally,
when Pyle is unable to keep running, Hartman asks were you born a fat slimy scumbag, you piece of
shit, Private Pyle? Or did you have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consider Atul Gawande and his notes on an imperfect science with Education of a Knife. Gawande is
trapped in a dilemma where lives are at stake, but there is no perfect solution. Gawande discusses an
issue that has been glued to surgical training for ages. As a resident surgeon, he has encountered many
struggles in trying to perform procedures on his patients. He starts by recounting when he was
assisting a surgeon was first injecting a patient using a syringe: The patient yelped in pain from
Gawande s inexperience with the syringe. This pain is actually essential for the medical profession.
Resident surgeons need to practice on real people in order to become the surgeons they seek to be. As
Gawande puts it: like the guy who fixes hard drives, we need to practice to get good at what we do.
There is one difference in medicine, though: it is people we practice upon (Gawande

The Rights Of The Global Warming
My argument is that those who have taken part in causing global warming, which are the developed
countries, should be held responsible by cutting back more than other countries to correct the injustice
that they have inflicted on the poorer countries. These nations are infringing on the rights of the
victimized nations. Therefore, I would argue that there is an ethical basis for deciding whether some
countries should cut back emissions more than others because the situation is not only unfair, but also
violates the rights of innocent people. Everyone has a right to life, a right to not be harmed, and more
specifically, the right not to have one s life taken directly as a means to further one s end (Finnis).
Immanuel Kant thought reason tells us to, Act only on a maxim that you can will to be a universal law
(Kant). Under Kantism views, an ethical act is ethical if it can become universal law without
undermining some sort of construct. If we say that developed countries can emit greenhouse gases,
thus causing harm, without consequence, then it will undermine the principle that the innocent has the
right to not be harmed. Therefore, when that right is violated, there is an ethical issue. For example, if
a burglar steals, it is only fair that they are reprimanded accordingly by giving back what they stole,
plus an additional punishment, to ameliorate the harm that he caused. To extrapolate this example to
global warming, the developed nations are stealing from the poor

Critiquing Critique
In the evolution from student to scholar, the process of critiquing assists in not only personal
development, but also professionally in the evolution from student to scholar. According to Cameron,
Nairn and Higgins (2009), the art of critiquing documents provides insight into another individuals
thought process which broadens development (page 45, para. 2). From a personal standpoint,
receiving a critique has the ability to incite insecurity and negative emotions from students; therefore,

Theme Of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun
The setting of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun and the history of Japan play a major role in the story
and its theme; in fact, Japan s culture and the events of the 1940s, when is was written, seem to be the
catalyst for its creation. The title is a reference specifically to the fall of ancient Japanese culture as an
actual practice, that is, its removal from everyday use. The actions and motivations of the characters
can be linked directly to the Japanese mindset and its unusually close relationship to death, as seen
throughout history. For example, Kazuko references one of Japan s most beloved novels in her letters
to Uehara: Genji Monogatari, or The Tale of Genji, which was written by an aristocratic woman of the
Heian period known as Murasaki Shikibu (97). When expressing her love for him and her desire to
mother his child, she compares her passion to the iconic novel, exalting those days of Genji, Shikibu s
main character, as the time of ideal relationships. The Tale of Genji indeed explores relationships and
proper and improper behavior, but it also illustrates just how deep death runs in Japanese culture; a
major theme of the world s first great novel is evanescence and the beauty of impermanence. In fact,
the death of the main character Genji s true love Murasaki, although sorrowful, is described with great
care:
Despite the fact that she was terribly emaciated, Murasaki still looked remarkable; the loss of weight
had, if anything, distilled her beauty, which now

The Events Of Temperance Movement
Part 1: The Event; Temperance Movement
Second Great Awakening was not focused simply on promotion individual conversions; it was also
intended to reform human society, which was said by Lyman Beecher a champion of evangelic
Christian revivalism (Tindall and Shi 508). The United States, which was known for a nation of
separation and church and state was swept with religious revivals during 1790 to 1830s known as the
Second Great Awakening. From the Second Great Awakening in 1842, the United States was filled
with different reform movement which was led by dreamers and activists who saw social injustice or
immorality in the American society and wanted to fight to correct the sinful events that s been
happening (Tindall and Shin 528 529). One of the most widespread from all the reform movement that
spread around the 19th and 20th century was the temperance movement due it being the common
social problem in the United States. The Temperance movement was an organized effort to encourage
moderation in the consumption of intoxicating liquors or press for complete abstinence (Chancellor).
The temperance movement establishes due to the amount of alcohol an individual was consuming, it
also brought different society and organization to help spread the word about the evil in consuming
alcohol which was mainly established by women s, which gave a rise to women s rights by them
expressing theirs considers on alcohol. It also gives a perspective how alcohol was affecting the

Analysis Of Jan Van Eyck s The Wedding Portrait
Jan Van Eyck began his career as an artist in 1422 and continued until his death in 1441. While Van
Eyck was active, he created many well known paintings. According to John Haber, Van Eyck was a
portraitist who was the first to paint in oils (pg.1). One of his most famous works is Wedding Portrait,
or Giovanni Arnolfini and His Bride. This painting depicts a man and a woman holding hands in
matrimony with many symbolic objects surrounding them. The painting was created in 1434 and
currently resides at the National Gallery in London. Haber states that The Wedding Portrait, confront
us with a reconstruction rather than a mere representation of the visible world (pg.1). Haber s quote
shows how that The Wedding Portrait has a complex ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then he used the chandelier, curtains, and other accessories to bring visual pleasure to the viewer. The
objects in the painting are easily identifiable, so Van Eyck most likely used contour lines. He also
most likely used a multipoint perspective, because he gave the image a dramatic emphasis. He drew
the room dark with only the light from the window coming in. This can be seen as if God is shining
his light on their marriage, thus creating a dramatic effect. These elements found in the painting can
give the viewer a deeper understanding behind the complex meaning of Jan Van Eyck s Wedding
Portrait. Jan Van Eyck used composition throughout the work to give the viewer a better
understanding of the painting. As show in Figure 1, Wedding Portrait, an asymmetrical balance is used
in the painting. This means that if the painting were to be cut in half, it would not mirror or reflect
itself. There is no rhythm present in Wedding Portrait, because there is no repetition of elements. In
Figure 1, nothing seems to be out of proportion or scaled to a different size. The painting does seem to
have emphasis and accents, and unity throughout the work. The emphasis in the painting are Giovanni
Arnolfini and his wife, because as show in Figure 1, they are in the front of the painting to show that
they are the main focal point. The accents in art, are the lesser focal points of the painting. In Wedding

The Problem Of Homelessness
Cities increasingly grapple with homelessness, while facing budget cuts to various services, but the
failure to tackle homelessness creates more problems. While there are homeless people who are on
drugs, some are there because housing is expensive and they have no reliable sources of income.
Homelessness may result in the city spending more on welfare in a never ending cycle without finding
a solution to homelessness. There are various factors associated with the risk of homelessness,
including individual factors like those fleeing domestic abuse, and even those who can longer earn a
living because of health conditions and disabilities. The problem of homelessness is further
compounded when the homeless suffer mental health issues and alcohol or drug dependence (Benston,
2015). Homelessness is a problem that affects even the youth, and stakeholders ought to work together
to tackle the problem, as city officials, and residents are the audience who should be concerned with
the problem at the local level.
Proposed solution Sometimes personal struggles cause people to be homeless while those who try
moving away from unstable lifestyles have few options, this may further be complicated if they are
discriminated like those who identify with the LGBT groups. Identifying the homeless youths,
including the runaways is potentially challenging, but when it is possible to reach them it helps to
improve access to affordable housing services. While people may view the economic causes

The Continuous Civil Unrest Of The Empire Between 509 Bce...
Rome at the beginning was just a small city built on hills, but soon enlarged to one of the largest
empires around the world. Located in the middle of the Mediterranean, it was a prime spot for trade
and was influenced by surrounding areas such as Greece. In ancient Rome, the city became a Republic
and prospered as an Empire expanding to 3.5 million square miles at its height. As ancient Rome
continued to grow from the Republic to the Empire between 509 BCE and 476 CE, culturally the
acceptance of a new monotheistic religion, Christianity emerged, changing from the previous
polytheistic religions and the army changed from a citizen soldier to a standing army. The continuous
civil unrest of the poor due to the troubled economy remained throughout Rome s period.
With Rome s acceptance of the many polytheistic religions around the region, the emergence of a new
monotheistic religion created conflicts with the Roman government. Many of the religions practiced in
the Roman Republic were polytheistic, but they were accepted by the government as long as the
religion worshipped many gods, such as the main worship of the Roman Gods. During the Roman
Empire, Christianity was introduced. It was appealing because the new and different religion promised
an immediate life after death unlike some religions such as Hinduism in India, where the final goal,
Moksha, did not occur right after death. This made it appealing to convert along with the promised
personal relationship with God and

Cause Of Workplace Violence
Literature Review
Causes of workplace violence in united state
There are three main causes of workplace violence so far experience in United State, these include;
workplace factors, personal factors, and person situation interactions.
Workplace factors
Attempt to predict violence in a place of work previously have focused almost on personal factors in
line with social learning theory. Marital violence is associated with work stress in totality. Again
feeling of job insecurity, use of electronic surveillance and employees perceived workplace justice are
the three main workplace factors that may be considered important in foreseeing workplace violence
Workers perception of fairness is reflected in the structural justice, procedures and policies as well as
the organizational outcomes. Generally, workers involved in efforts to reinstate their sense of justice
when they perceived an injustice in the factory. Violence may be a predictable outcome, by extension
that the workers alleged to be exposed at work, whether in terms of physical danger.
Furthermore, various occupational murders have been linked to employees who have been approved
over for elevations or indicted and certain that the process used was unfair, also some of the events
that precipitate the unfairness in the work place have been connected to poor administration measures,
coercion, and unreliable corrective measures. Even though it is not the only contributing reason,
occupational violence can also be caused by perceptions of technical prejudice.
Personal Factor
Personal factors that contribute to work place violence includes alcohol abuse, past history of
aggression, and lack of self esteem.
Destructive conduct across a diversity of settings such as violence at the family level that has been
connected with the unnecessary use of alcohol. From a wide viewpoint of emotional alignment, excess
use of alcohol will increase workplace violence since it increases the chance of the situation being
misjudged and lowers mental and oral operational.
Secondly apart from alcohol abuse, there are reasons why a person s past history of aggression might
trigger workplace violence, because aggression is a very stable behavior. The recent use of aggression

Home Depot, Sears, Lumber Liquidators, Menard, Harbor Freight just to name a few. However, Home
Depot is probably the biggest rivalry for Lowe s. Home Depot sells wood, tools, home accessories,
and even every day household supplies. Likewise, most people would go to Home Depot for wood
and things for their home. Next in the competition retail chain is Sears. Sears sells similar
merchandise to that of Lowe s. especially when it comes to appliances for the home. They have
appliances, tools, things for the house, even lawn mowers. Yet another competitor, but further down
the line, is Harbor Freight. Harbor Freight sells tools, lawn mowers, and generators like Lowe s.
However, Harbor freight seems to have lower pricing.
Lowe s gives 5% off everything in store, or 6 months special financing when customers use their

quite often and took after his father in that sense and embraced his role of a pianist. Other composers
in the Classical Period consist of Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig Van

time. When people think of them, they think of their great works, or incidental stories, but they all had
a serious effect of the growth and development of the piano. This is often over looked and
underappreciated. Mozart challenged inventors, composers, teachers, and people each day. While
people had choice words to say about Mozart, he developed music in a way that not many people had.

With technology changing it is difficult to keep up with the progress. The piano today varies from the
piano in the classical romantic period in ways such as:
The modern Piano has 88 keys (52 white and 36 black), allowing the artist to emote with music. Each
key corresponds to two or three strings. The base notes have long strings and the higher the notes go,
the shorter the strings get. There are 100 parts to each key and 30 adjustments can be made to each
key. (LifeIsMusic, 2015).
Something else that has changed within the past few decades is that, since the Classical Period, almost
every middle class to upper class family had a piano in their household and it was expected that every
member of the family was to learn to play it. Because of the way technology has been moving, music
has been primarily heard through phones or laptops and could be made through other sources of
technology too. Unfortunately that means that the life of the piano has been at a standstill within
chamber music. Thankfully, a lot of composers today have kept the piano in their works and it is just
as important as it was during the Romantic and Classical

The Homelessness And The Problem Of Homelessness In Hawaii
Hawaii is know as paradise, but as soon as you leave the airport you start to realize something. If you
are a tourist visiting Hawaii. Once you start to drive around Oahu, you will notice homeless people or
trash all around the island. Homelessness in Hawaii is a problem everyone can agree on. As I chose to
write about homelessness, I am not picking on the homeless. Writing about the homeless issue in
Hawaii doesn t only have an impact on our community but it also includes other states.
Being born and raised here on Oahu, I have not only realized that Hawaii is not the old Hawaii. I have
realized our homeless community has been growing rapidly. Ever since I was ten I have fell in love
with surfing. While going to school everyday is sometimes stressful. I like to go surfing either after
class or before class starts. With Waikiki being my one of my favorite spots to surf. If we all don t
know already, we know Waikiki has terrible parking. When I go down to Waikiki I like to park at the
zoo. After I grab my surf board, I leave everything in my car because I clip my car key to my bathing
suit and walk down to the beach. As the years go by the homeless population in Hawaii starts to grow.
Each time I walk down Waikiki I have noticed more homeless people sleeping along Waikiki Ave.
Lately I have been scared to walk down Waikiki Ave alone. At least every time I go surfing homeless
people have tried to approach me.
The solution to all of this we may not have in the near

Earthquakes In North America
The southeastern United States should, by all means, be relatively quiet in terms of seismic activity. It
s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where
earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011
magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital.
Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle
under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and
weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study
authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future.
Our idea supports the view that this seismicity will continue due to unbalanced stresses in the plate, ...

At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes
and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and
accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into
the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into
the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill
the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in
the images.
The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable
region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone
to slip along ancient fault lines. Typically, the thicker the plate, the stronger it is, and the less likely to
produce

Violence in Sports
Unfortunately, violence has become a part of everyday life in our world. It can be witnessed in many
forms and of different proportions in numerous situations. Never, under any circumstances is violence
good. When one thinks of violence, thoughts may arise of war, people committing violent acts against
others, domestic violence within families, and not to mention the abundance of television shows and
movies that are packed with sadistic, yet entertaining violence of all sorts. Over the past couple of
decades there has been an increased concern regarding the spread of violence throughout our realm
and in our homes. However, one area in which violence has had such heavy influence is within sports.
To analyze violence in sports, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Last season Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks dropped Colorado Avalanche rookie Steve
Moore from behind causing Moore to suffer three broken vertebrae in his neck and a concussion.
Some say that hockey actually made Bertuzzi do what he did. Though Bertuzzi acted out of rage, it
was really nothing more than what hockey taught him and literally hundreds of thousands of kids to do
over the past fifty years. I have played hockey for well over half of my life and I know this to be true;
it is the nature of the sport. Violence is conditioned into all of us in different ways and to different
degrees. Those who say Hockey made Bertuzzi do it, do have a point. It is the same in the streets and
households across the country. If a child is constantly faced with violence in their home, they will no
doubt grow up to be more violent than the child who did not experience such living. This goes for
anyone and in all areas of life. Violence is a vicious cycle and is very close to impossible to stop or
even cut down. The more one is conditioned to violence, the more violent a person they will become.
How does one justify violence in the sports we have come to love? One of the most interesting aspects
of sports violence is that which is committed by the fan. Not only is violence committed by athletes,
but at times sport fans can get so caught up and emotionally charged by rooting for their home team
and things end up getting out of hand. The best examples of this

One Child Policy Dbq
The one child policy was established in China in 1979 because the population was growing extremely
fast. The one child policy is a law that prevents families from having more than one child. It only
applies to the Han Chinese ethnic group, which makes up 90% of the Chinese population. Sibling less
parents are allowed to have two children. Some Chinese people are in favor of the one child policy
(OCP) because their lives were made easier. Other people felt it was not fair to have their rights taken
away. I think that the OCP was not a good idea because there s not enough information to support that
it was a good idea. The intention of the OCP was to lower the fertility rate in China and prevent
overpopulation. The OCP did lower the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

have a more important job than a secretary.
People s view on the OCP is biased based on their experience. Document F tells the story of 2 kids
that were born under the OCP. One, which was a boy from a rural area, who loved the OCP, the other
was a girl who lived in an urban area and didn t like it at all. The girl said that all the pressure was on
her to be the best and she wanted a sibling to share the pressure with. On the other hand, the boy said
that if you have siblings your parents would not give you the most they could give you. He said
everyone would be average because you would be lacking emotional and financial support. Your
parents would have to share whatever they could offer with all their children. I think that is a biased
thought because very successful people like Bill Gates, Yao Ming, and Jackie Chan all had siblings
and still did good in life. Both the boy and the girl are only thinking on how it affects them and not the
future of the country. All in all, I don t think that the one child policy was a good idea. People should

Gun Control Laws Are Not Focus On The Overall Wellbeing Of...
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to make people aware of the excessive forms of control measures which
California control laws enforce. The laws need to be changed to loosen the burden on anyone
Californian who desire to legally purchase a gun for protection. Buyers are prejudged as potential
problems to the community rather than solely on their legal record, merit of good intentions, and right
for self preservation. Law abiding California citizen will continue to be treated as convicted felons and
other people with violent past.
Thesis
California gun control laws are not focus on the overall wellbeing of the public. This current law
encourage the people who are commenting crimes. Most legal buyers are prejudged as a potential
threat; prior to purchasing a gun, rather than on their proper paperwork and qualifications. During this
process criminals are still obtaining weapons illegally and using them. The laws which prevent
personal protection with a gun most be changed in order to control and deter the increasing threat from
predators.
California (CA) gun control laws should be revised to provide every CA law abiding person a fair
opportunity to purchase and possess firearm for protection. Law aiding citizens who desire self
protection are the ones being wronged. Most criminals do not walk in a store and attempt to purchase
a weapon by legally registering for sell and ownership. Many petitions and proposals to legislature
have to present to address the

Dopamine Introverts
Dopamine is a chemical in the brain that helps motivate you for different tasks. In extroverts,
dopamine is much more active rather than in introverts (Granneman). I would classify myself as more
of an introvert. While my family wants me to go try new things with new people, I am most
comfortable with the same couple of people in familiar environments. Big groups of people frighten
me, especially when I am not familiar with the location. Calm, quiet, partially secluded environments
are where I belong, and it is vital to understand that everyone has different tastes when it comes to
being social. My idea of being social is very different from others, for instance, my parents. In my
opinion, being social is spending time with people you are comfortable being with and enjoy being
with. As for my parents, being social is frequently spending time with a large variety of friends. I
spend most of my time with one friend in particular that I get along really well with. We do everything
together; she has practically become a member of my family. Of course, I have other friends as well,
but we mostly just hang out during school. As I m on my phone on the weekend, my mom encourages

Nature versus Nurture It was suggested in Chapter 2 that there are two theories regarding the language acquisition, nurture or nature. Most behaviorists suggested that the child develops language due to nurture, which means that the environmental exposure is the key to child s language development; whereas most nativists considered that the child develops language due to nature, and the brain drives development and children are born with the biology to acquire language. Would shifting the costs for military training be better suited at the Department of Labor (current budget of $11.8 billion)? Would shifting the costs for compensation related healthcare be better situated at the Department of Health and Human Services (current budget s $77.1 billion) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (current budget s $65.3 billion)? If Hanson s belief of a strong military is sincere, then innovative thinking in a collaborative approach to the defense of the nation is needed. TFT Corporation loses an average of thirty employees every year since 2013 and hence enacts a recruitment strategy at the start of every successive year to compensate the created vacancies. Besides to that, the company has noted a declining trend in the profit trend since the existing consumers are losing their confidence in the productivity of the corporation. Retention of specialized employees in a firm upholds the consumers trust in a company s potential to meet the underlying customer needs optimally. This trend accounts for the corporation s statistics whereby it had noted a decrease in aggregate sales from $46 billion in 2014 to $40 billion in December 2015. The high employee turnover rate in TFT Corporation is adversely affecting the company s economic growth and competitiveness. PROJECT GOAL I propose to present practical strategies targeted at reducing the final rate of employee turnover at TFT Corporation to a reasonably productive rate like one or two employees per year. I recommend the establishment of winning strategies for employee motivation, setting of promotion strategies based on employee performance, and training of employees. • 13. The Rights Of The Global Warming My argument is that those who have taken part in causing global warming, which are the developed countries, should be held responsible by cutting back more than other countries to correct the injustice that they have inflicted on the poorer countries. These nations are infringing on the rights of the victimized nations. Therefore, I would argue that there is an ethical basis for deciding whether some countries should cut back emissions more than others because the situation is not only unfair, but also violates the rights of innocent people. Everyone has a right to life, a right to not be harmed, and more specifically, the right not to have one s life taken directly as a means to further one s end (Finnis). Immanuel Kant thought reason tells us to, Act only on a maxim that you can will to be a universal law (Kant). Under Kantism views, an ethical act is ethical if it can become universal law without undermining some sort of construct. If we say that developed countries can emit greenhouse gases, thus causing harm, without consequence, then it will undermine the principle that the innocent has the right to not be harmed. Therefore, when that right is violated, there is an ethical issue. For example, if a burglar steals, it is only fair that they are reprimanded accordingly by giving back what they stole, plus an additional punishment, to ameliorate the harm that he caused. To extrapolate this example to global warming, the developed nations are stealing from the poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Theme Of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun The setting of Osamu Dazai s The Setting Sun and the history of Japan play a major role in the story and its theme; in fact, Japan s culture and the events of the 1940s, when is was written, seem to be the catalyst for its creation. The title is a reference specifically to the fall of ancient Japanese culture as an actual practice, that is, its removal from everyday use. The actions and motivations of the characters can be linked directly to the Japanese mindset and its unusually close relationship to death, as seen throughout history. For example, Kazuko references one of Japan s most beloved novels in her letters to Uehara: Genji Monogatari, or The Tale of Genji, which was written by an aristocratic woman of the Heian period known as Murasaki Shikibu (97). When expressing her love for him and her desire to mother his child, she compares her passion to the iconic novel, exalting those days of Genji, Shikibu s main character, as the time of ideal relationships. The Tale of Genji indeed explores relationships and proper and improper behavior, but it also illustrates just how deep death runs in Japanese culture; a major theme of the world s first great novel is evanescence and the beauty of impermanence. In fact, the death of the main character Genji s true love Murasaki, although sorrowful, is described with great care: Despite the fact that she was terribly emaciated, Murasaki still looked remarkable; the loss of weight had, if anything, distilled her beauty, which now ... One of his most famous works is Wedding Portrait, or Giovanni Arnolfini and His Bride. This painting depicts a man and a woman holding hands in matrimony with many symbolic objects surrounding them. Then he used the chandelier, curtains, and other accessories to bring visual pleasure to the viewer. The objects in the painting are easily identifiable, so Van Eyck most likely used contour lines. He also most likely used a multipoint perspective, because he gave the image a dramatic emphasis. He drew the room dark with only the light from the window coming in. This can be seen as if God is shining his light on their marriage, thus creating a dramatic effect. These elements found in the painting can give the viewer a deeper understanding behind the complex meaning of Jan Van Eyck s Wedding Portrait. Jan Van Eyck used composition throughout the work to give the viewer a better understanding of the painting. As show in Figure 1, Wedding Portrait, an asymmetrical balance is used in the painting. This means that if the painting were to be cut in half, it would not mirror or reflect itself. There is no rhythm present in Wedding Portrait, because there is no repetition of elements. In Figure 1, nothing seems to be out of proportion or scaled to a different size. The painting does seem to have emphasis and accents, and unity throughout the work. The emphasis in the painting are Giovanni Arnolfini and his wife, because as show in Figure 1, they are in the front of the painting to show that they are the main focal point. The accents in art, are the lesser focal points of the painting. In Wedding Portrait ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there are homeless people who are on drugs, some are there because housing is expensive and they have no reliable sources of income. Homelessness may result in the city spending more on welfare in a never ending cycle without finding a solution to homelessness. There are various factors associated with the risk of homelessness, including individual factors like those fleeing domestic abuse, and even those who can longer earn a living because of health conditions and disabilities. The problem of homelessness is further compounded when the homeless suffer mental health issues and alcohol or drug dependence (Benston, 2015). Homelessness is a problem that affects even the youth, and stakeholders ought to work together to tackle the problem, as city officials, and residents are the audience who should be concerned with the problem at the local level. With Rome s acceptance of the many polytheistic religions around the region, the emergence of a new monotheistic religion created conflicts with the Roman government. Many of the religions practiced in the Roman Republic were polytheistic, but they were accepted by the government as long as the religion worshipped many gods, such as the main worship of the Roman Gods. During the Roman Empire, Christianity was introduced. However, these diagnoses were both encouraged and stimulated by the culture surrounding them. These women were not just sick, instead, they were sick because they were women. Their anatomy, specifically the uterus, was viewed as an inherently erratic and troubled organ that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. The Homelessness And The Problem Of Homelessness In Hawaii Hawaii is know as paradise, but as soon as you leave the airport you start to realize something. If you are a tourist visiting Hawaii. Once you start to drive around Oahu, you will notice homeless people or trash all around the island. Homelessness in Hawaii is a problem everyone can agree on. As I chose to write about homelessness, I am not picking on the homeless. Writing about the homeless issue in Hawaii doesn t only have an impact on our community but it also includes other states. Being born and raised here on Oahu, I have not only realized that Hawaii is not the old Hawaii. I have realized our homeless community has been growing rapidly. Ever since I was ten I have fell in love with surfing. While going to school everyday is sometimes stressful. I like to go surfing either after class or before class starts. With Waikiki being my one of my favorite spots to surf. If we all don t know already, we know Waikiki has terrible parking. When I go down to Waikiki I like to park at the zoo. After I grab my surf board, I leave everything in my car because I clip my car key to my bathing suit and walk down to the beach. As the years go by the homeless population in Hawaii starts to grow. Each time I walk down Waikiki I have noticed more homeless people sleeping along Waikiki Ave. Lately I have been scared to walk down Waikiki Ave alone. At least every time I go surfing homeless people have tried to approach me. The solution to all of this we may not have in the near ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Earthquakes In North America The southeastern United States should, by all means, be relatively quiet in terms of seismic activity. It s located in the interior of the North American Plate, far away from plate boundaries where earthquakes usually occur. But the area has seen some notable seismic events most recently, the 2011 magnitude 5.8 earthquake near Mineral, Virginia that shook the nation s capital. Now scientists report in a new study a likely explanation for this unusual activity: pieces of the mantle under this region have been periodically breaking off and sinking down into the Earth. This thins and weakens the remaining plate, making it more prone to slipping that causes earthquakes. The study authors conclude this process is ongoing and likely to produce more earthquakes in the future. Our idea supports the view that this seismicity will continue due to unbalanced stresses in the plate, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At first, they thought the thick, old rocks could be remnants of ancient tectonic plates. But the shapes and locations of the thick and thin regions suggested a different explanation: through past rifting and accretion, areas of the North American Plate have become more dense and were pulled downward into the mantle through gravity. At certain times, the densest parts broke off from the plate and sank into the warm asthenosphere below. The asthenosphere, being lighter and more buoyant, surged in to fill the void created by the missing pieces of mantle, eventually cooling to become the thin, young rock in the images. The researchers concluded this process is likely what causes earthquakes in this otherwise stable region: when the pieces of the mantle break off, the plate above them becomes thinner and more prone to slip along ancient fault lines. Typically, the thicker the plate, the stronger it is, and the less likely to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Violence in Sports Unfortunately, violence has become a part of everyday life in our world. It can be witnessed in many forms and of different proportions in numerous situations. Never, under any circumstances is violence good. When one thinks of violence, thoughts may arise of war, people committing violent acts against others, domestic violence within families, and not to mention the abundance of television shows and movies that are packed with sadistic, yet entertaining violence of all sorts. Over the past couple of decades there has been an increased concern regarding the spread of violence throughout our realm and in our homes. However, one area in which violence has had such heavy influence is within sports. To analyze violence in sports, one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Last season Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks dropped Colorado Avalanche rookie Steve Moore from behind causing Moore to suffer three broken vertebrae in his neck and a concussion. Some say that hockey actually made Bertuzzi do what he did. Though Bertuzzi acted out of rage, it was really nothing more than what hockey taught him and literally hundreds of thousands of kids to do over the past fifty years. I have played hockey for well over half of my life and I know this to be true; it is the nature of the sport. Violence is conditioned into all of us in different ways and to different degrees. Those who say Hockey made Bertuzzi do it, do have a point. It is the same in the streets and households across the country. If a child is constantly faced with violence in their home, they will no doubt grow up to be more violent than the child who did not experience such living. This goes for anyone and in all areas of life. Violence is a vicious cycle and is very close to impossible to stop or even cut down. The more one is conditioned to violence, the more violent a person they will become. How does one justify violence in the sports we have come to love? One of the most interesting aspects of sports violence is that which is committed by the fan. Not only is violence committed by athletes, but at times sport fans can get so caught up and emotionally charged by rooting for their home team and things end up getting out of hand. The best examples of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The one child policy is a law that prevents families from having more than one child. It only applies to the Han Chinese ethnic group, which makes up 90% of the Chinese population. Sibling less parents are allowed to have two children. Some Chinese people are in favor of the one child policy (OCP) because their lives were made easier. Other people felt it was not fair to have their rights taken away. I think that the OCP was not a good idea because there s not enough information to support that it was a good idea. The intention of the OCP was to lower the fertility rate in China and prevent overpopulation. The OCP did lower the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The article makes it sound so great but if you read in between the lines you notice how there is some discrimination, for a person to learn multiple languages they should have a more important job than a secretary. People s view on the OCP is biased based on their experience. Document F tells the story of 2 kids that were born under the OCP. One, which was a boy from a rural area, who loved the OCP, the other was a girl who lived in an urban area and didn t like it at all. The girl said that all the pressure was on her to be the best and she wanted a sibling to share the pressure with. On the other hand, the boy said that if you have siblings your parents would not give you the most they could give you. He said everyone would be average because you would be lacking emotional and financial support. Your parents would have to share whatever they could offer with all their children. I think that is a biased thought because very successful people like Bill Gates, Yao Ming, and Jackie Chan all had siblings and still did good in life. Both the boy and the girl are only thinking on how it affects them and not the future of the country. All in all, I don t think that the one child policy was a good idea. I would classify myself as more of an introvert. While my family wants me to go try new things with new people, I am most comfortable with the same couple of people in familiar environments. Big groups of people frighten me, especially when I am not familiar with the location. Calm, quiet, partially secluded environments are where I belong, and it is vital to understand that everyone has different tastes when it comes to being social. My idea of being social is very different from others, for instance, my parents. In my opinion, being social is spending time with people you are comfortable being with and enjoy being with. As for my parents, being social is frequently spending time with a large variety of friends. I spend most of my time with one friend in particular that I get along really well with. We do everything together; she has practically become a member of my family. Of course, I have other friends as well, but we mostly just hang out during school.
