Kind of funny - with all the news about Planetary Resources Inc and asteroid mining, here's some notes I made back in 2006 on the topic to talk with some of my colleagues on the subject.
Asteroids, comets, meteors, and moons
Comets are small cosmic bodies composed of rock, dust, ice and frozen gases that orbit the sun in elongated orbits. They develop tails and comas as solar radiation causes particles to dissipate from the comet as they approach the sun. Asteroids are small rocky bodies that orbit the sun and are remnants of larger planetesimals. Meteoroids are smaller particles that orbit the sun and create visible meteors when entering Earth's atmosphere due to pressure.

Asteroids Powerpoint
Asteroids are rocky and metallic objects that orbit the sun but are too small to be considered planets. They have diverse compositions and shapes, ranging from nearly spherical to very irregular. They are classified based on their composition as determined from spectral analysis and similarities to known meteorites. Asteroids can be found in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, as well as in near-Earth orbits such as the Amor, Apollo, Aten, and Trojan groups.
The Origin of Modern Astronomy
Astronomy is the oldest of the natural sciences, dating back to antiquity, with its origins in the religious, mythological, cosmological, calendrical, and astrological beliefs and practices of pre-history: vestiges of these are still found in astrology, a discipline long interwoven with public and governmental astronomy, and not completely disentangled from it until a few centuries ago in the Western World (see astrology and astronomy). In some cultures, astronomical data was used for astrological prognostication.
Ancient astronomers were able to differentiate between stars and planets, as stars remain relatively fixed over the centuries while planets will move an appreciable amount during a comparatively short time.
Comets, asteroids & meteors
Comets and asteroids are remnants from the formation of the solar system. Comets originate from the Kuiper Belt and Oort Cloud and are icy bodies, while asteroids originate from the Main Asteroid Belt and are rocky fragments. Both have irregular shapes and sizes ranging from 1-100 km. Comets have highly elliptical orbits with periods of 75 years to millions of years, while asteroids have more rounded orbits with periods of 1-100 years. When a meteoroid from space enters the atmosphere, it becomes a meteor or "shooting star"; any fragments that reach the ground are called meteorites.
Tides
Tides are the periodic rise and fall of ocean water levels caused by the gravitational forces of the moon and sun. The dominant force is the moon, as it is closer to Earth. This causes bulges in the ocean on opposite sides of Earth called high tides, with low tides occurring between them. The periodic rise and fall happens twice each day. Tidal ranges vary depending on the positions of the Earth, moon, and sun, causing spring tides with the largest ranges or neap tides with minimum ranges.

End-to-end encryption explained
End-to-end encryption provides stronger security than HTTPS alone. It encrypts messages on the sender's device before transmission so that only the recipient can decrypt it with their private key, rather than data being encrypted in transit only. BunkerMail uses this method, generating unique AES keys for each message and attachment, encrypting the keys with the recipient's RSA public key so only they can decrypt it, ensuring the information is accessible by the end users and not others like servers.
Bunker mail group features

The solution embeds the key pairs in an image that is split during enrollment so the user and web app each hold half. Authentication involves revealing the crypto elements with a password, splitting the key image, checking signatures, and verifying each side possesses their valid key half. This bidirectional process prevents "man in the middle" attacks even if a hacker redirects to a phishing site, as their key would not match and a warning would be displayed.
