My Visit To The Ohio State University
I am currently attending The Ohio State University Columbus Campus. When I think about why I
chose The Ohio State University the first word that comes to mind is tradition. It has been a tradition
in my family to attend Ohio State since my grandpa and his brother enrolled in the 1960s. When I was
growing up I thought it was so cool to listen to all of the stories about Ohio State from my grandpa,
uncle, and countless other family members. They had so many great memories and they truly loved
attending Ohio State. I remember thinking that maybe someday I too could have my own stories about
Ohio State. When my junior year rolled around it was time for me to visit colleges. The first and only
college I visited was Ohio State. I knew right away

Law In Action
The jury system was introduced in Queensland in 1867 as part of the Queensland Constitution Act.
Juries are used in indictable offences in criminal trials. They are mainly used in the District and
Supreme Court if the accused pleads guilty. Juries are used to decide the guilt or innocence, of the
accused person, based on the facts and evidence provided in court by the Prosecution and Defence
Council.
The legislation that governs the jury system is the Jury Act 1995 (Queensland). In this particular
legislation it tells you the citizen s obligation to perform jury service, jury districts and rolls, power to
excuse from jury service along with many other sections and subsections of other information on jury
matters. There are 12 people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
o Jurors can t ask questions of the witnesses or the barristers. This could result in juries making their
decisions without all the facts. o Trials are long and are expensive. o Jury service interrupts personal
and working lives. o Juries often acquit even when the evidence showing otherwise is overwhelming.
o Jurors are often influenced by the media. o Jurors are too easily persuaded by clever barristers
playing on their emotions. o Surveys show that a majority of Australians want the system changed.
o For retaining: o 12 person juries have collective wisdom and experience. o Decisions of fact are
based by community standards o The system allows people to be involved, to keep the system fair and
is less prone to corruption. o The right to be trialled by a jury, just like the right to vote, is an
inseparable part of our democracy. o Trial by jury is a safeguard against oppressive state conduct in
the application of law.
There are a few alternatives to the jury system in criminal trials; the government can abolish
unanimous verdicts, enforce judge only trials or abolish jury s completely. Many countries have
already moved on from the past time of juries and have evolved to a new justice system. England for
example have introduced where juries try to reach a unanimous decision within 2 hours and if that isn
t achievable it is a majority verdict of 10/12. A

Essay On Physician Impairment
Physicians are a crucial part of the healthcare team that aids in healing and betterment of all aspects of
patient care. However, there is a prevalence of between five and fifteen percent of physician that
suffer from a part of impairment that affects their position and can affect patient care (Griffith).
Physician impairment can range on a spectrum from alcohol abuse to depression. It is important to
address these concerns for proper patient safety. In order to effectively diagnose and provide
treatment, it is important that all members of the medical staff, administration and the board work
together to provide aid to the concerning physician.
Many physicians possess a strong drive for achievement, exceptional conscientiousness and an ability
to deny personal problems. These attributes are advantages for success in medicine, while providing
predisposition to impairment (Boisaubin). Physicians can be impaired by age, physical or mental
disease, declining cognitive ability, personal trauma, disruptive behavior, alcohol abuse, abuse of

Essay On Attractiveness Of Jaguar
An analysis of the attractiveness of the luxury car industry with respect to Jaguar, based on Porter s
Model of The Five Forces of Competition.
Although India is a developing country, in the last few years due to economic crises, the country has
been facing numerous challenges. Despite the situation, very recently it has been acknowledged that
the Indian market has seen as increase in the demand for luxury items specially Luxury Cars. Another
fact to be considered is that the demand of such cars is not only increased in Tier I cities but also in
Tier II and Tier III cities. In view of this shift in buying preferences, global luxury car brands like
BMW, Mercedes Benz, Jaguar, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini and others now have their eye on
Indian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most significant barriers comprises the brand equityenjoyed by most established brands.
The repute of the brand is extremely important to customers; luxury brands such as Jaguar, Mercedes
Benz, BMW and Audi have a long and magnificent history to boast about, and the companies work
hard to preserve the association between them and other symbols of individuality and of top notch
quality and performance.
Although several Asian companies have developed new luxury brands to compete with the traditional
European and American brands, it is extremely difficult for challengers to match the prestige of brands
with years of history.
Another challenging barrier to entry is the huge initial investment required to enter car markets in
general. Large amounts of capital are required to set up manufacturing facilities and invest in R D,
among other large expenses. This also creates large sunk costs and makes it hard to achieve economies
of scale. The capital requirements are one of the main reasons why new luxury brands have been
produced by companies which were already present in the market as large car manufacturers (Toyota s
Lexus and Nissan s Infiniti) and not by new, free standing,

The Treaty Of Nuclear Weapons
In March 1970, the Treaty of Nuclear Non proliferation came into existence. The treaty sought to
inhibit the widespread of the nuclear weapons. At this period, the treaty had one hundred and ninety
state parties. There was classification of the state parties into two categories. The first type was the
Nuclear Weapon States that consisted of China, France, United States, Russia and the United
Kingdom. The other category consisted of non nuclear weapons states. Under the agreement, the five
nuclear weapons states committed themselves to pursuing the general and the complete disarmament.
On the other hand, the non nuclear weapons states made an agreement of preceding the development
or the acquisition of the nuclear weapons.
However, despite the emergence of the treaty of the Nuclear Non Proliferation having been in
existence for almost fifty years, the worldwide threat of the nuclear weapons remains. In this
dissertation, the role of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty in the contemporary global system and
the effectiveness of the prevention of the spread of the nuclear weapons is examined. There is also
discussion about the comparison and contrast of two interpretations of the NPT.
The nuclear non proliferation treaty played the role of mobilization of the states to prevent the
multiplication of the nuclear weapons (Nye, 2005). The systems of the worldwide safeguards
prevented the diversion of the materials that were fissile into the weapons successfully. There was

Workers Compensation Research
Although there are many motivational reasons for working, one can safely assume that almost every
American works at a job away from home to receive money and benefits. Money yields the basic
needs of clothes, food, and shelter. Money is also used to purchase transportation, insurance, health
care, education, retirement, and entertainment. Given that a worker s job is a vital means to secure the
necessities of life, it is essential that the worker or the worker s family is compensated when a job
related injury, illness, or death occurs. Government legislation requires employers to provide a
reasonable safe place to work and holds most of them responsible for work related injuries, illnesses,
and deaths ( ). By definition, workers compensation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, due to the wording and interpreting of the contributory negligence and the assumption of risk
rules, the injured worker was usually found as the cause of the accident and the employer held not

laborers continued to work on the railroads, in the mines, and with high speed machines in the
factories where accidents were occurring at an alarming rate (Clark, 2012). Even though most injured
workers did not seek compensation through civil lawsuits, the court system still could not handle the
increasing number of cases. The cost and time spent on these cases became a burden to not only the
employees but also to the employers (Clark,

Compare Contrast Operant Classical Conditioning
Learning is any relatively permanent change in behaviour due to experience (Grivas et al, 1999: 318).
Conditioning is the acquisition of specific patterns of behaviour in the presence of well define stimuli
(Termpapers, 2003: 01). Learning is the unconscious association between two stimuli which brings
about stimulus substitution: Classical Conditioning, CC, Pavlov and the encoding of consequences:
Operant Conditioning, OC, Skinner (Grivas et al. 1999: 346 349). This essay will compare and
contrast the two learning theories, focusing on the main similarities and differences that exist.
CC (otherwise known as respondent or Pavlovian conditioning (Weiten, 2001: 222 Copper et al, 1987:
19) was first described by Pavlov in 1899 after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However they differ in that CC is an unconscious association between two stimuli and OC is a
conscious process of learning (Temper, 2003: 01).
In both types of conditioning, extinction occurs however they slightly vary in the process (Grivas et al,
1999: 374). In CC, extinction refers to the gradual weakening or disappearance of the CR resulting
from the continuos presentation of the CS alone (Grivas at al, 1999: 329). In OC however, the
discontinuation of any reinforcement that had once maintained a given behaviour is referred to as
extinction (Baldwin, 1998: 57). When reinforcement is withdrawn from the learning process, the
frequency or rate of response decreases (Baldwin, 1998: 57). In CC, extinction takes place over a
period of time when the UCS is withdrawn (Grivas et al, 1999: 363). Extinction within OC also occurs
over time, but following the termination of reinforcement. (Grivas et al, 1999: 363) Another similarity
that is present between the two learning theories is spontaneous recovery Extinction in both CC and
OC can be interrupted by Spontaneous recovery (Grivas e al, 1999: 374). In CC, spontaneous recovery
is the reappearance of a conditioned response when the CS is presented, following a rest period (i.e.
when the CS is not presented) after the conditioned response appears to have been extinguished.
(Grivas, 1999: 330). Similar to CC, extinction is not permanent in OC. After a period of time in which
a stimulus is presented with no following

This experiment was designed to examine the efficacy of naturally occurring antimicrobials against
common bacteria located in a normal human microbiome. Three antimicrobials, Melaleuca alternifolia
(tea tree) oil, commercial honey, and Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper), were tested on the gram
negative Escherichia coli and the gram positive Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Quantitative
data was taken using the filter paper disk method to determine the zones of inhibition produced by the
three antimicrobials. The results collected showed that Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil is an
effective broad spectrum antimicrobial, while honey produced partial inhibition with an outer ring of
stimulation signifying that the honey is merely bacteriostatic for a short period of time before growth
reoccurs. The Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper) stimulated bacterial growth indicating possible
contamination or lack of antimicrobial properties.

Lenin s Legacy
Throughout the 1800s and into the 1900s the industrial revolution s unparalleled level of change
pushed the world into a new era. While change occurred throughout this time, the most radical was the
implementation of Communist ideology in Tsarist Russia. In a series of revolutions, Vladimir Lenin
seized power for the Bolsheviks, establishing the world s first Communist based government. Lenin
found himself in the predicament of building a state which would wither away, something Marx
claimed would happen naturally. However, this had never been attempted before, and quickly Lenin
found himself in a series of trial and error tests. Lenin s untimely death brought about more immense
changes, as a power struggle to assume control over his legacy ... Show more content on

Lenin s revolution placed himself suddenly in a situation which Marx had never written from. The
revolution occurred, Bolsheviks had seized power, and suddenly a state would have to be developed
that would wither away while at the same time facing a civil crisis; a task deemed near impossible
(Lecture, Hoston March 7th). Lenin s own arguments prior to this held a much more anarchical view,
advocating for the abolition of the army, of long term bureaucracy, and of the police force (State and
Revolution 339). These calls would not be what went into effect in the end. It is here we see the first
of the many major departures from Lenin s original theory which began to address the reality Russia
was in. Lenin had realized that a state had to be strong at some point, even if marching towards
communism as Communism, makes the state absolutely unnecessary, for there is nobody to be
oppressed (State and Revolution 375). At the point Lenin was in power, the communists still had those

Social Communication And Human Characteristics Of Social...
It is extremely important to understand the traits of social media and the human factors impacting
technology because if we did not, there would be a lot more miscommunications and
misunderstandings between people. For example, social media users need to understand that social
media communication is limited compared to face to face communication. Factors such as Temporal
Structure, which is the time it takes to send and receive a message, affect how effective social media
communication is. Also, Asynchronous communication, which is communication that occurs when
participants are not co present, could cause communication problems because the people who are
communicating might not be as involved in a conversation. Tone and other signs that people give off
to relay emotions and messages are not present in many social communication forms as well.
There are three key steps in the Perception Process. The first is to Observe someone s behavior and
determine what the behavior means. The second is to describe the behavior to the person objectively.
It is important to not show any approval or disapproval to their actions in this step. Next, you explain
your personal perception of the behavior. This step is very important because you let the person know
how YOU feel, and this will allow them to respond to your feelings accordingly. It is also important to
be ready to change or alter your perception based on the person s reaction to your perception checking
process.
Automatic social cognition or perception means that someone is arriving to conclusions about
situations, people, or themselves, without much conscious awareness or intention on what the future
effects might be. On the other hand, conscious or controlled cognition means that someone is stopping
to think about something intentionally, because they realise that their thoughts can affect what happens
in a situation. This means that automatic social cognition is always happening and can lead to
someone making decisions and judgements that are not very thought out or reasonable. One time I
made the automatic and unconscious assumption that someone was weird just because they watched
Japanese cartoons, I told my friend and this ended up spreading to the person I was

Organizational Psychology Paper
Introduction
Organizational psychology is the study of a formal organization and how individuals and groups act
within that organization; in other words, the scientific study of the workplace. The goal of
organizational psychology is to help organizations function the best way possible. This is achieved by
helping people understand their interactions with each other and create an environment where
everyone can work together to accomplish important goals. When an organization is successful, the
employees have better job satisfaction. In turn, this creates better productivity which allows products

The organizational side of I/O psychology focuses on making the most of organizational performance.
This focuses on interpersonal relationships at work, how individual differences affect an organization,
leadership, motivation, team and group dynamics, and organizational change and development. In
addition, the organization side concentrates on job satisfaction, attitudes, and dealing with job stress
such as balancing work and family (McCarthy, 1999).
The Use of Research Research methods are used in I/O psychology to answer question about why
employees behave the way they do. Analyses of behavior in qualitative studies involve discussions of
how people experience and feel events in their lives and can be a good means of generating
hypotheses and theories of what happens in organizational settings (Ehigie, 2005, p. 621). Qualitative
methods of research are used by I/O psychologist in organizational studies. I/O psychological may use
methods such as test, questionnaires, rating scales, observation, ethnography and physiological
measures to answer questions about behavior (Ehigie, 2005) Observation is a research method used in
I/O psychology to understand employee s culture and behavior. There are three observational methods

Comparative Analysis of Shall I compare thee to a summer s day? by William Shakespeare and The
Flea by John Donne
Shall I compare thee by Shakespeare focuses on romantic love, whereas Donne s poem, The Flea is all
about seduction and sexual love.
The situations in the two poems are very different. In Shall I compare thee , the poet is shown as a
lover who is addressing his lady. His tone is gentle and romantic. He starts with a rhetorical question
to which he must answer and therefore he does not put demand upon the lady. The poem gives the
impression that it is set perhaps in his room, where he is composing his poem. One thing is for sure
and that is that the woman he is addressing is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both poets use a three part argument although Shakespeare s is in the form of a sonnet whilst Donne s
is a three stanza poem. Shakespeare s poem is a sonnet and consists of three quatrains and a rhyming
couplet. The first two quatrains start with the rhetorical question Shall I compare thee… and the rest
of this section answers this question. However, this question has an obvious answer of no because the
next line says,
Thou art more temperate and beautiful .
The poet thinks she is perfect, unlike a summer s day. He says that the summer s day is sometime to
hot and has rough windes , but she is more lovely . He uses personification in the line,
And often is his gold complexion dim d .
He uses this technique to show that the sun has a face, which glows, but not always and therefore
shows that summer is not perfect, but she is. He describes her as being temperate which means that
she is moderate compared to the temperamental weather of an English summer. This is one of the
things he says to compliment her.
The third quatrane starts with the word but , which signals a change to a different thought. In this
quatrane, Shakespeare uses exaggerated claims to show how perfect she is. He says,
Thy eternal Sommer shall not fade, nor lose possession of that faire thou ow st .
Here, he is explaining how much better than a summer s

she tried to enter the house Koppersmith stopped her and a physical dispute ensued. Cindy fell off the

In Koppersmith s statement he told police that him and Cindy were arguing on their front porch when

Koppersmith s testimony of his actions portrayed a picture of unintentional events. The judge referred
to the Woods case, there was some evidence that the appellant failed to perceive the risk that the
victim might die as a result of his actions. Because there was evidence that gave a reasonable theory
that would have supported the jury receiving instructions on criminally negligent homicide, there was
error in the trial court not giving the jury the instructions. Therefore the judgment was reversed and
the case was remanded for a new trial.
Case Significance:
The court deciphering between criminal negligence and recklessness. Criminal negligence being a
person failing to perceive a substantial and unjustifiable risk that the result will occur or that the
circumstance exists. The risk must be of such nature and degree that the failure to perceive it
constitutes a gross deviation from the standard of care that a reasonable person would observe in the

9. Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (CJD)
It is a rare, degenerative but fatal brain disorder affecting very a small fraction of persons. The
symptoms usually arise at the age of 60 and the person dies within a year. Many researchers believe
that this disorder is the result of an abnormal protein known as prion. About 5 10% cases reported in
the United States share a genetic basis where this form of dementia is caused by a mutation in the gene
for the prion protein. Patients with Creutzfeldt Jakob disease suffer from the problems associated with
muscle coordination, personality changes, impaired memory, judgment making, thinking disability
and impaired vision. Other possible symptoms include insomnia and depression. In later stages the

Some disorders unique to children may also cause dementia. Niemann Pick disease is a type of
inherited disorder where specific gene mutations affect metabolism of cholesterol and lipids so
excessive amount of cholesterol accumulates in liver and spleen while excessive lipids accumulate in
brain. The symptoms include dementia, confusions and problems of learning and memory. The disease
is known to affect the young school going children but may also affect teen agers.
Batten disease is also a fatal hereditary disorder of the central nervous system occurring in childhood.
The symptoms include formation of lipopigments in body tissues and early symptoms include
personality and behavior changes, clumsiness or stumbling. As the disease advances children may
experience mental impairment, loss of sight and motor skills, become blind and bedridden. Lafora
body disease is a rare genetic disorder responsible for causing progressive dementia and movement
problems. The symptoms arise in the early childhood or late teens and are characterized by the
presence of Lafora bodies in brain, skin, muscles and liver and death of child within 2 10 years.
Other conditions causing dementia
Doctors have found many conditions that can cause dementia and some symptoms can be reversed
with proper treatment. For example, medications can sometimes cause symptoms of dementia. They

Analysis Of How Bingeing Became The New College Sport By...
Barrett Seaman, in How Bingeing Became the New College Sport , argues that binge drinking
amongst college students would decrease if the legal drinking age was brought down to 18 or 19,
instead of 21. The author explains what Pregaming is, along with the consequences that had come
forth from college students consuming too much alcohol. Seaman talks about how the drinking law
was put into place by Congress all thanks to Mothers Against Drunk Driving. In the beginning of the
article Barrett Seaman states what pregaming actually is, It usually involves sitting in a dorm room or
an off campus apartment and drinking as much hard liquor as possible before heading out for the
evening s parties. (Paragraph 2 sentence 3). The author then continues the article with the
consequences that come from Pregaming . Seaman states the following; ... Show more content on

But tighter enforcement of the minimum drinking age of 21 is not the solution. It s part of the
problem. (Paragraph 3). This statement was a bit eye opening as to what side the author was choosing
to write from. The author clearly believes that the legal drinking age is too high and should be
lowered. In my opinion the law should not be changed to a lower age but a higher one. The reasoning
behind this is that if we raise the legal drinking age to 25 or 26 let s say, then it would be harder for the
younger college students to approach someone out of college to buy them the

Genetic Engineering Blueprint
A child s life should not be taken on as a blueprint. The modification of genes in the child contributes
to the risk of losing individuality and natural differences. Like fingerprints, everyone has their own
unique structure. So in effect of electing specific traits, the unique factor of the human being will be
challenged. Scientists are developing tests having to do with eye color, behavior, nutritional
background associated with disease, and athleticism. These tests are challenging the one in a million
traits and behaviors of a natural birth, which leads to a damaging effect on natural differences. In the
article Opposing Views, it was stated by scientist that there is an increasing number of humans with
similar traits, and a number of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The chances increase in this process and the problems can range from minor medical problems to
death (disabled world). An organization has concluded that the most common disease connected to
genetic engineering is called Severe Combined Immunodeficiency or SCID. Ian Langtree described
this disease as a group of rare, sometimes fatal, congenital disorders characterized by little or no
immune response. This was known as bubble boy disease and it was caused by a defect in white blood
cells that protect us from infection by viruses and bacteria(disabled world). This disease, along with
other severe diseases, are possible to obtain in a genetically modified embryo because after
engineering the child, they are susceptible to ruinous infections. This was caused by the removal of
the gene that is associated with the disease they so cautiously and introspectively removed. In
addition, there are many risks that can happen during genetic engineering such as genetic mutation.
These can occur during the development of an organism or from an encounter with chemicals or
radioactive substances (opposing views). There are tests being taken and results have proven that
genetic engineering contributes to muscle and body disorders. These tests verified ethical concerns
about testing for diseases because it lead individuals to have risky impacts on their well being.
Scientists also concluded that genetic engineering and testing causes a disorder later in life. To further
prove that genetic engineering is the cause of these types of body abnormalities, scientists brought
together an assessment for muscle traits. They examined a group of volunteers in a training program to
see whether muscle strength, size, and performance was interrupted. The scientists determined that the
results were positive for a future muscle function disorder due to a certain

The Great Cat Massacre Analysis
Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a
particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it was of
the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis, Darnton
claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied, understanding their
motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this determination of a people s
mindset possible? How much of the cat massacre was Darnton s thoughts and beliefs and how much
were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is no way of knowing what is history and
what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis, Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it
was, and using that history to support his own beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a
problem with this practice.
Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief that
Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one act be
a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of a husband,
and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? Chartier starts his argument against
this interpretation by criticizing Darnton s use of a modern definition of symbol. Chartier believed
that, anyone concerned primarily with

What Is Data Analysis And Application ( DAA )
Data Analysis and Application (DAA)
This paper will examine a data analysis and application for an independent t test comparing the mean
GPAs of a sample of male and female students. It will pose a research question that the data will set
out to answer. It will provide a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis, and will provide an
analysis showing why the null hypothesis should be accepted or rejected in favor of the alternative
hypothesis.
Data File Description
For this independent t test, the mean GPAs of 64 females and 41 males were compared. The variables
used are (1) gender, and (2) GPA. The predictor, or independent, variable is gender. And the outcome
variable is GPA. Gender can only have two values, male or female; this ... Show more content on

a. Lilliefors Significance Correction
The p value is .001, which shows that the data is not normal. However, this test is more reliable with
larger sample sizes. Therefore, if there was a larger sample size here, the results of this test may differ
from above.
Assumption 2 of the t test is that there will be independence of observation. Here, a participant can
only be a member of the male group or the female group; this cannot overlap and a person can only be
assigned to one group. This will not be tested via a visual component, as this assumption is based on
setting up the research correctly.
Assumption 3 is homogeneity of variance, that the variances of the outcome variable in both groups,
the male group and the female group, will be equal. The Levene Test for Equality of Variances has a
sig. value of .566. This number is higher than .05 and, therefore, implies that the variability of the two
groups is about equal.
Based on the above, it appears that the assumptions have been met. Assumption 1, that the outcome
variable will be normally distributed, is supported by visual interpretation of the histogram and the
skewness and kurtosis calculations. The Shapiro Wilk test, on the other hand, did not support the
assumption. However, this could be due to sample size; the bigger the sample, the more accurate the
results. This could shed some doubt on the research; to completely meet the assumption, a larger

The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay
Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the skin,
hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is to
protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves, veins,
and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skin while keeping
the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the skin include
the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine gland has a
different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the effects of
melanoma on the integumentary system.
Skin
The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The
epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood vessels
running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through diffusion from
the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The epidermis is made of
five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and
the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is where mitosis of
keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes which give the skin it
s pigment. As mitosis takes place in the stratum

What Is The Theme Of Deathism In A Wedding In Brownsville
The modern short Jewish American post holocaust story, by its open ending finale, A Wedding in
Brownsville by Isaac Bashevis Singer is about Dr. Solomon Margolin, who was benevolent with the
Jew community and also was an eminent doctor. Solomon was invited to a Jew wedding in
Brownsville. There were a lot of people that talked Dr. Solomon to mention him all their dead family
and how they perished. Later, he encounters with the love of his life, Raizel; but, that girl looks the
same age she passed away. So definitely, Dr. Solomon sees deceased people. Does this mean that he is
lifeless?
Dr. Solomon took a taxi to go to the wedding. On the road he thinks whether or not a God exists, and
if it exits, why he could permit those catastrophes like genocide and illness to exist; of what could

Solomon ate something. Perhaps, he is aware of his condition, only that he doesn t believe it much, or

difference does it make? This can be an answer to Raizel s question, that who had told him that
someone shot her and kill her, (Singer), or this can be a response to himself, what difference does it
make that he is hallucinating or just a victim of food poisoning, because in that moment he was finally

This maybe means that Raizel, as a result of Solomon s comments of death, is trying to think where
she had been and she realized that all this time she has been

Intex Above-Ground Pool Research Paper
Where you live impacts the winter fate of your Intex above ground pool. If you live in an area with
mild winters, you can winterize the pool and cover it for the season. If, however, you live in an area
where freezing occurs, you ll have to drain your Intex pool and take it down for the winter. Luckily,
these pools are some of the easiest above ground pools to collapse and store.
Complete Removal
Take the ladder, pool pump, filter and all related hoses out of your pool. Clean them all and allow
them to dry thoroughly.
Locate the pool s drain valve. Remove the drain cover and attach your garden hose to the drain. Allow
all of the water to drain from the pool, making sure that your hose directs the water to a legal and

When it is completely dry, roll your pool liner up.
Carefully disassemble the pool s metal frame. Store it and all the other pool components in an area
that will stay between 40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Winterization
Shock your pool about a week before closing it. This cleans the water and gives the chlorine level time
to drop back down to the desired 1 to 3 ppm. If your chlorine level is too high when you close your
pool the chlorine will prevent the algaecide you ll be adding later from working.
Clean the pool of all debris, dust and algae. Use the vacuum and the net to remove all contaminants
from the pool.
Test your pool water and adjust the water chemistry as needed to reach a pH level between 7.2 and
7.8. Adjust your pool s total alkalinity to a range of 100 to 150 ppm.
Add a water clarifier as well as an algaecide to your pool. Run the pool pump for one day to
thoroughly circulate these added chemicals.

winter. You can purchase one of these kits and follow the instructions to make closing your pool even

Emancipatory Use Of Popular Theatre
Historically, research with vulnerable groups experiencing health inequities has been problematic
(Quinlan, 2009; Smith, 2012). The imposition of research agendas and failure to engage research
participants at the very onset of a research project can yield findings that are incomplete and
misrepresent the knowledge and resources of those being researched (Wilson Neville, 2009). For
example, throughout the world Indigenous groups have been researched to their detriment, often with
little or no representation or rights with respect to the research process, or to the interpretation and use
of resulting data (Moodie, 2010; Smith, 2012). The imposition of western research epistemologies,

What Were The Wars Of The Roses And How Did It Affected...
The Wars of the Roses were a series of battles fought in England between the cadet houses of
Lancaster and York from the Plantagenet Dynasty. It would be a struggle for power during a thirty
year period that would last from 1455 to 1487 ( Deary and Brown, Measly Middle Ages 142 ). These
series of wars greatly affected English history in several ways. In this text it will be shown that the
Wars of the Roses changed England politically, by bringing in the Tudor Dynasty, which would reign
over England from 1485 to 1603 ( Deary and Brown, Terrible Tudors 7 ). The Wars of the Roses were

In this war the English lost important territory to France. The aftermath of this war, alongside the

Description Of The Hpge Gamma Ray Spectrometer
) Description of the HPGe gamma ray spectrometer
A high resolution gamma detection system was used for gamma analysis. This system consist of an
ORTEC hyper pure germanium detector (HPGe), model number GEM 15190, coaxial type detector
with a serial number 27 P 1876A recommended operating bias, negative 3 Kv. The detector used has
crystal diameter 49.3 mm, and crystal length 47.1 mm. The HPGe detector has a full width at half
maximum (FWHM) 0.9 keV at the 122 keV gamma transition of Co 57 and 1.9 keV at the 1332.5 keV
of Co 60 gamma transition (Knoll, 2000). The detector has peak to Compton ratio about 44 keV.
Compton ratio is the number of net counts in the 1.33 MeV peak channels divided by the average
number of net counts in the channels representing the range from l.040 through 1.096 MeV which is
part of the Compton region associated with the 1.33 MeV peak. Figure (2.5) show the block diagram

Another challenging barrier to entry is the huge initial investment required to enter car markets in general. Large amounts of capital are required to set up manufacturing facilities and invest in R D, among other large expenses. This also creates large sunk costs and makes it hard to achieve economies of scale. The capital requirements are one of the main reasons why new luxury brands have been produced by companies which were already present in the market as large car manufacturers (Toyota s Lexus and Nissan s Infiniti) and not by new, free standing, ... • 7. The Treaty Of Nuclear Weapons In March 1970, the Treaty of Nuclear Non proliferation came into existence. The treaty sought to inhibit the widespread of the nuclear weapons. At this period, the treaty had one hundred and ninety state parties. There was classification of the state parties into two categories. The first type was the Nuclear Weapon States that consisted of China, France, United States, Russia and the United Kingdom. The other category consisted of non nuclear weapons states. Under the agreement, the five nuclear weapons states committed themselves to pursuing the general and the complete disarmament. On the other hand, the non nuclear weapons states made an agreement of preceding the development or the acquisition of the nuclear weapons. However, despite the emergence of the treaty of the Nuclear Non Proliferation having been in existence for almost fifty years, the worldwide threat of the nuclear weapons remains. In this dissertation, the role of the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty in the contemporary global system and the effectiveness of the prevention of the spread of the nuclear weapons is examined. There is also discussion about the comparison and contrast of two interpretations of the NPT. The nuclear non proliferation treaty played the role of mobilization of the states to prevent the multiplication of the nuclear weapons (Nye, 2005). The systems of the worldwide safeguards prevented the diversion of the materials that were fissile into the weapons successfully. There was widening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Workers Compensation Research Although there are many motivational reasons for working, one can safely assume that almost every American works at a job away from home to receive money and benefits. Money yields the basic needs of clothes, food, and shelter. Money is also used to purchase transportation, insurance, health care, education, retirement, and entertainment. Given that a worker s job is a vital means to secure the necessities of life, it is essential that the worker or the worker s family is compensated when a job related injury, illness, or death occurs. Government legislation requires employers to provide a reasonable safe place to work and holds most of them responsible for work related injuries, illnesses, and deaths ( ). • 9. Compare Contrast Operant Classical Conditioning Learning is any relatively permanent change in behaviour due to experience (Grivas et al, 1999: 318). Conditioning is the acquisition of specific patterns of behaviour in the presence of well define stimuli (Termpapers, 2003: 01). Learning is the unconscious association between two stimuli which brings about stimulus substitution: Classical Conditioning, CC, Pavlov and the encoding of consequences: Operant Conditioning, OC, Skinner (Grivas et al. 1999: 346 349). This essay will compare and contrast the two learning theories, focusing on the main similarities and differences that exist. In both types of conditioning, extinction occurs however they slightly vary in the process (Grivas et al, 1999: 374). In CC, extinction refers to the gradual weakening or disappearance of the CR resulting from the continuos presentation of the CS alone (Grivas at al, 1999: 329). In OC however, the discontinuation of any reinforcement that had once maintained a given behaviour is referred to as extinction (Baldwin, 1998: 57). When reinforcement is withdrawn from the learning process, the frequency or rate of response decreases (Baldwin, 1998: 57). In CC, extinction takes place over a period of time when the UCS is withdrawn (Grivas et al, 1999: 363). Extinction within OC also occurs over time, but following the termination of reinforcement. (Grivas et al, 1999: 363) Another similarity that is present between the two learning theories is spontaneous recovery Extinction in both CC and OC can be interrupted by Spontaneous recovery (Grivas e al, 1999: 374). In CC, spontaneous recovery is the reappearance of a conditioned response when the CS is presented, following a rest period (i.e. when the CS is not presented) after the conditioned response appears to have been extinguished. (Grivas, 1999: 330). Similar to CC, extinction is not permanent in OC. After a period of time in which a stimulus is presented with no following ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Three antimicrobials, Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil, commercial honey, and Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper), were tested on the gram negative Escherichia coli and the gram positive Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Quantitative data was taken using the filter paper disk method to determine the zones of inhibition produced by the three antimicrobials. The results collected showed that Melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree) oil is an effective broad spectrum antimicrobial, while honey produced partial inhibition with an outer ring of stimulation signifying that the honey is merely bacteriostatic for a short period of time before growth reoccurs. The Capsicum annuum (red chili pepper) stimulated bacterial growth indicating possible contamination or lack of antimicrobial properties. While change occurred throughout this time, the most radical was the implementation of Communist ideology in Tsarist Russia. In a series of revolutions, Vladimir Lenin seized power for the Bolsheviks, establishing the world s first Communist based government. Lenin found himself in the predicament of building a state which would wither away, something Marx claimed would happen naturally. However, this had never been attempted before, and quickly Lenin found himself in a series of trial and error tests. The revolution occurred, Bolsheviks had seized power, and suddenly a state would have to be developed that would wither away while at the same time facing a civil crisis; a task deemed near impossible (Lecture, Hoston March 7th). Lenin s own arguments prior to this held a much more anarchical view, advocating for the abolition of the army, of long term bureaucracy, and of the police force (State and Revolution 339). These calls would not be what went into effect in the end. It is here we see the first of the many major departures from Lenin s original theory which began to address the reality Russia was in. • 14. Social Communication And Human Characteristics Of Social... It is extremely important to understand the traits of social media and the human factors impacting technology because if we did not, there would be a lot more miscommunications and misunderstandings between people. For example, social media users need to understand that social media communication is limited compared to face to face communication. Factors such as Temporal Structure, which is the time it takes to send and receive a message, affect how effective social media communication is. Also, Asynchronous communication, which is communication that occurs when participants are not co present, could cause communication problems because the people who are communicating might not be as involved in a conversation. Tone and other signs that people give off to relay emotions and messages are not present in many social communication forms as well. There are three key steps in the Perception Process. The first is to Observe someone s behavior and determine what the behavior means. The second is to describe the behavior to the person objectively. It is important to not show any approval or disapproval to their actions in this step. Next, you explain your personal perception of the behavior. This step is very important because you let the person know how YOU feel, and this will allow them to respond to your feelings accordingly. It is also important to be ready to change or alter your perception based on the person s reaction to your perception checking process. Automatic social cognition or perception means that someone is arriving to conclusions about situations, people, or themselves, without much conscious awareness or intention on what the future effects might be. On the other hand, conscious or controlled cognition means that someone is stopping to think about something intentionally, because they realise that their thoughts can affect what happens in a situation. This means that automatic social cognition is always happening and can lead to someone making decisions and judgements that are not very thought out or reasonable. The Great Cat Massacre Analysis Overall, the argument of The Great Cat Massacre was that a historian could use the writings of a particular point in history to determine the psychology of the people of that time. In this case, it was of the French people in the decades before the French Revolution. Like Natalie Zemon Davis, Darnton claimed he had the ability to know the mental landscape of the people he studied, understanding their motives based on the few words that were placed before him. But is this determination of a people s mindset possible? How much of the cat massacre was Darnton s thoughts and beliefs and how much were of the people he was studying? The truth is that there is no way of knowing what is history and what is Darnton s perception of history. Like Davis, Darnton ran the fine line of telling history as it was, and using that history to support his own beliefs and opinions, and the critics, as before, had a problem with this practice. Roger Chartier, in his article Text, Symbols, and Frenchness, began his argument with the belief that Darnton gave the incident of the cat massacre too many levels of meaning. How could this one act be a statement about the treatment of the workers, the practice of witchcraft, the cuckolding of a husband, and a critique of the new lifestyles of the masters all at one time? What Is Data Analysis And Application ( DAA ) Data Analysis and Application (DAA) This paper will examine a data analysis and application for an independent t test comparing the mean GPAs of a sample of male and female students. It will pose a research question that the data will set out to answer. It will provide a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis, and will provide an analysis showing why the null hypothesis should be accepted or rejected in favor of the alternative hypothesis. Data File Description For this independent t test, the mean GPAs of 64 females and 41 males were compared. The variables used are (1) gender, and (2) GPA. The predictor, or independent, variable is gender. And the outcome variable is GPA. Gender can only have two values, male or female; this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Statistic df Sig. gpa .091 105 .033 .956 105 .001 a. Lilliefors Significance Correction The p value is .001, which shows that the data is not normal. However, this test is more reliable with larger sample sizes. Therefore, if there was a larger sample size here, the results of this test may differ from above. Assumption 2 of the t test is that there will be independence of observation. Here, a participant can only be a member of the male group or the female group; this cannot overlap and a person can only be assigned to one group. This will not be tested via a visual component, as this assumption is based on setting up the research correctly. Assumption 3 is homogeneity of variance, that the variances of the outcome variable in both groups, the male group and the female group, will be equal. The Levene Test for Equality of Variances has a sig. value of .566. This number is higher than .05 and, therefore, implies that the variability of the two groups is about equal. Based on the above, it appears that the assumptions have been met. Assumption 1, that the outcome variable will be normally distributed, is supported by visual interpretation of the histogram and the skewness and kurtosis calculations. The Shapiro Wilk test, on the other hand, did not support the assumption. However, this could be due to sample size; the bigger the sample, the more accurate the results. This could shed some doubt on the research; to completely meet the assumption, a larger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the skin, hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is to protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves, veins, and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skin while keeping the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the skin include the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine gland has a different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the effects of melanoma on the integumentary system. Skin The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood vessels running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through diffusion from the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The epidermis is made of five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is where mitosis of keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes which give the skin it s pigment. As mitosis takes place in the stratum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Theme Of Deathism In A Wedding In Brownsville The modern short Jewish American post holocaust story, by its open ending finale, A Wedding in Brownsville by Isaac Bashevis Singer is about Dr. Solomon Margolin, who was benevolent with the Jew community and also was an eminent doctor. Solomon was invited to a Jew wedding in Brownsville. There were a lot of people that talked Dr. Solomon to mention him all their dead family and how they perished. Later, he encounters with the love of his life, Raizel; but, that girl looks the same age she passed away. So definitely, Dr. Solomon sees deceased people. Does this mean that he is lifeless? Dr. Solomon took a taxi to go to the wedding. On the road he thinks whether or not a God exists, and if it exits, why he could permit those catastrophes like genocide and illness to exist; of what could possibly have been thinking his uncles the moment they were digging their own graves ... This can be an answer to Raizel s question, that who had told him that someone shot her and kill her, (Singer), or this can be a response to himself, what difference does it make that he is hallucinating or just a victim of food poisoning, because in that moment he was finally seeing her. Therefore, he asks Raizel, Where have you been? (Singer), but she doesn t answer him. If you live in an area with mild winters, you can winterize the pool and cover it for the season. If, however, you live in an area where freezing occurs, you ll have to drain your Intex pool and take it down for the winter. Luckily, these pools are some of the easiest above ground pools to collapse and store. Complete Removal Take the ladder, pool pump, filter and all related hoses out of your pool. Clean them all and allow them to dry thoroughly. Locate the pool s drain valve. Remove the drain cover and attach your garden hose to the drain. Allow all of the water to drain from the pool, making sure that your hose directs the water to a legal and acceptable location. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Store it and all the other pool components in an area that will stay between 40 and 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Winterization Shock your pool about a week before closing it. This cleans the water and gives the chlorine level time to drop back down to the desired 1 to 3 ppm. If your chlorine level is too high when you close your pool the chlorine will prevent the algaecide you ll be adding later from working. Clean the pool of all debris, dust and algae. Use the vacuum and the net to remove all contaminants from the pool. Test your pool water and adjust the water chemistry as needed to reach a pH level between 7.2 and 7.8. • 32. Emancipatory Use Of Popular Theatre Historically, research with vulnerable groups experiencing health inequities has been problematic (Quinlan, 2009; Smith, 2012). The imposition of research agendas and failure to engage research participants at the very onset of a research project can yield findings that are incomplete and misrepresent the knowledge and resources of those being researched (Wilson Neville, 2009). For example, throughout the world Indigenous groups have been researched to their detriment, often with little or no representation or rights with respect to the research process, or to the interpretation and use of resulting data (Moodie, 2010; Smith, 2012). The imposition of western research epistemologies, processes and ethics that exclude traditional approaches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freire developed an approach to adult literacy education that involved not only reading the world, its circumstances and conditions, (Anna Pilar help here please) but also reading the world through the development of critical consciousness (Freire, 1973). Freire encourages people to be active participants in their lives. It is through his method that Freire challenges traditional methods of education that were inherently oppressive and dehumanizing where students were mere recipients of teacher s knowledge (Freire, 2002, 2004). • 33. What Were The Wars Of The Roses And How Did It Affected... The Wars of the Roses were a series of battles fought in England between the cadet houses of Lancaster and York from the Plantagenet Dynasty. It would be a struggle for power during a thirty year period that would last from 1455 to 1487 ( Deary and Brown, Measly Middle Ages 142 ). These series of wars greatly affected English history in several ways. In this text it will be shown that the Wars of the Roses changed England politically, by bringing in the Tudor Dynasty, which would reign over England from 1485 to 1603 ( Deary and Brown, Terrible Tudors 7 ). The Wars of the Roses were ignited due to social and financial problems after the Hundred Years War. The Hundred Years War was an 116 year war, between the English and the French, lasting from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this war the English lost important territory to France. The aftermath of this war, alongside the weak rule and mental incapacity of Henry VI, triggered this war. There were various relatives ( see Figure 1 ) of Henry VI who saw this as a chance to gain power over the kingdom. In 1460 Henry VI was seen unfit to rule after a mental breakdown due to his losses in the Hundred Years War. Richard duke of York was to act as a regent on his behalf until the king recovered. This started the Wars of the Roses, and on 10 June 1460, Henry VI was taken prisoner by Richard Duke of York, only to be saved again by forces loyal to Margaret of Anjou ( Henry s wife ). However, in 1461, the king was deposed, due to the war at Towton, to which he lost to Edward IV (Richard s son). • 34. Description Of The Hpge Gamma Ray Spectrometer ) Description of the HPGe gamma ray spectrometer A high resolution gamma detection system was used for gamma analysis. This system consist of an ORTEC hyper pure germanium detector (HPGe), model number GEM 15190, coaxial type detector with a serial number 27 P 1876A recommended operating bias, negative 3 Kv. The detector used has crystal diameter 49.3 mm, and crystal length 47.1 mm. The HPGe detector has a full width at half maximum (FWHM) 0.9 keV at the 122 keV gamma transition of Co 57 and 1.9 keV at the 1332.5 keV of Co 60 gamma transition (Knoll, 2000). The detector has peak to Compton ratio about 44 keV. Compton ratio is the number of net counts in the 1.33 MeV peak channels divided by the average number of net counts in the channels representing the range from l.040 through 1.096 MeV which is part of the Compton region associated with the 1.33 MeV peak. Figure (2.5) show the block diagram of gamma ray spectrometer. The range of the multi channels analyzer (MCA) was adjusted to include the peak channel and the range of interest in the Compton plateau (Madelung, 1991), (EML, 1990). Whether he liked it or not, he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors shows, amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every corner of the land ; (Robinson 16). After World War Two, Brooklyn had transformed from a white middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews. amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger faithful, Jews were probably far more ready than any other major group, such as the Irish or the Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220 221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s belittlement of them and the similar discriminations they both faced.
