November was a very successful month for DAD, both in the Galapagos at the clinic and in NYC with many successful fundraisers!! November brings our clinic patient total for the year to 1948! We also continued our humane education program via the ABG and treated between 50-60 animals per event!
In the Galapagos we treated a total of 197 animals and performed 68 surgeries. One of our patients included an owl, who was rushed to our clinic for eye removal surgery!

Companion guide book to the exhibition “Galápagos”
of the Zoological Museum of the University of Zurich, Switzerland
“The Galápagos Islands is one of those places that has literally changed the way that we look at the world.
Having been fortunate enough to visit there myself, I am delighted that so many others can now enjoy and be
inspired by the natural treasures found there. I am so pleased that my Foundation for Building Community is
working with the Charles Darwin Foundation, the Galapagos Conservancy and local authorities to address the
huge challenges posed to the natural environment by ecotourism and human settlement on the Islands. I hope
that their work to create new Eco-pattern books for buildings and infrastructure can ensure that people and
Nature are in harmony in this very special place.”

The holidays were good for us at Darwin Animal Doctors! Our numbers for December are in and it was a very successful end of the year! We treated 134 animals at the clinic and preformed 18 surgeries! We have also been continuing to partner with the ABG for events in the local community both providing vital preventative treatments and more education on animal care.
The Governing Council of Galapagos, the Galapagos National Park
Directorate and the Charles Darwin Foundation are pleased to present
the 2011-2012 Galapagos Report - a compendium of scientific and social
analyses and observations designed to stimulate cogent, thoughtful
discussion and public policy that will help to protect Galapagos
ecosystems and its biodiversity and promote human well-being (“Buen
Vivir”) in the archipelago.
The articles presented in this edition of the Galapagos Report reflect
a range of disciplines and opinions within the general areas of human
systems, tourism, marine management, and biodiversity and ecosystem
restoration. In addition, two articles present the framework for
establishing a knowledge management initiative and a citizen science
program for Galapagos. We are pleased to include articles by authors
based in Galapagos as well as colleagues from around the globe, all of
whom have shared valuable ideas and information on critical and timely
issues.
It is the intent of the Galapagos Report to inform and stimulate discussion,
as well as catalyze critical research, and effective public action and
management policy. We are grateful to the wide range of collaborators
who have shared their vision for Galapagos and whose work is so critical
to the health and future of the archipelago. Our three institutions remain
committed to working in coordination with all Galapagos stakeholders
to ensure the long-term sustainability of this natural treasure, symbol of
Ecuador’s natural patrimony.
“Questions about whether design is necessary or affordable are quite beside
the point: design is inevitable. The alternative to good design is bad design,
not no design at all. Everyone makes design decisions all the time without
realizing it… good design is simply the result of making these decisions
consciously, at the right stage.”
