Motivation And Motivation For Academic Achievements
It is important for everyone especially students to do well in school because it reflects in the
foundation of their accomplishments in life. Students are affect their ability to move to the next
level when they fail to complete some requirements. It takes many factors to motivate individuals to
continue on striving for academic achievements. (Higgins, 2008) It is said that motivation gives big
contribution in one individual s success. Motivation is defined as the organized patterning of three
psychological functions that serves to direct, energize, and regulate goal oriented activity: personal
goals, emotional arousal processes, and personal agency beliefs. It is an interactive construct
representing the direction a person is going, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In conformity with the social norms, people learn by imitating others. However, people don t learn
only the acceptable social behaviours, they may also learn beyond the norms behaviours.
Knowledge gained in this way will have the chance to be transferred to another situation. This may
continue all the time and everywhere. In the same vein, we can argue that students spend most of
their time by learning. This can happen in different situations. It can be seen in groups while with
others. (Woldetsadik Lumadi, 2014) In a school situation students continuously engage themselves
in the learning process. It can be observed when they do assignments, read books and do other
related academic activities. Obviously, this is a regular process exercised by most of the students
in schools. However, the habit of doing these things can t happen at a time. It needs careful
observation and systematic exercise. All these efforts lead students to make their own meaning
/understanding of the activities. Besides, it enables them to reach at a level of sharing their own
experiences and to become a continuous process.
In view of this, Battersby and Gordon (2006) have cited some of the specific situations that can
develop experience within the school context. They stated varied sources of experience. They
believe that the identification of best characteristics of both teachers and students, either in group or
individually, in the first place

Respiratory Tract Infections ( Rtis )
Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs)
The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part
of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to
secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever
are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower
respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth,
2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute
respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014).

Practitioners are inclined to prescribe antibiotic when patients clearly requested it (Llor et al., 2014).
Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small
risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection
with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small
decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly,
presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease,
asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors
(Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012).
Pathophysiology of Common Cold
The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of
nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not
respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the
infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually
spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with
contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of
infected nasal mucosa during the first few days and can live for many days outside of a body

Pinhole Camera History
Photography
Photography is a word derived from the Greek words photos ( light ) and graphein ( to draw ) The
word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839. It is a method of recording
images by the action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material (Bellis 1). Photography
has been around for quite a few years. It has evolved from a pinhole camera, to a flexible film
camera, and now to digital cameras, but it is slowly being replaced by cellphones and isn t
pursued by as many people. Most cameras now are all digital because technology has increased
so rapidly. I remember when I was nine years old, my grandma bought me a travel film camera. I

Otherwise, I refuse to answer the lens question.(27)
This is basically saying, if you are going to be a big time photographer, you better be good at it
or it is pointless. Lenses and cameras are just to expensive to be a pro one minute and then give
it up the next. You can easily drop two hundred to five thousand dollars. Not very many people
have that kind of money to put on a lens. Photography has been around for quite a few years. It

The Great Gatsby Book Cover Essay
My cover for the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald features the symbol which would
be the green light that is mentioned in the story book. The symbol, which again is the green
light, symbolizes Gatsby s unrequited love for the beautiful and fair Daisy. Jay Gatsby likes to
look up and gaze at the twinkling stars, until he saw the green light that is in Daisy s house that is
across from his own house. Gatsby does not realize this at first because he thought that the green
light was a star, but in actuality it is a light in Daisy s house. The cover that I have drawn for the

My book cover for the book The Great Gatsby goes very well for the real book because Jay
Gatsby knows so much about Daisy and he would have done anything to get hold of her
attention, and Daisy does not know what Jay Gatsby is up to until later in the story. I, Mauricio
B. Romero, personally selected this symbol for my cover because it has a much bigger and
thoughtful meaning, therefore it is easy to put into a state of imagery. I wanted to show Jay
Gatsby would walk a street to street just so he can be with the one woman he wants to be with.
Even if Daisy does not know what is going on or does not know much about the man, that won t
stop Jay Gatsby from trying continuously in different ways to get her in his grasp and for them to
be happy together. So, that concludes this explanation and I am typing this conclusion just so I
can get my word count up to 350 or above. Mrs. Striblen, you better not make me retype this

Ronald Reagan Was A Fiscally Liberal President
Neither Republicans nor Democrats will admit it today, but Ronald Reagan was a very fiscally
liberal president. His eagerness to please citizens with tax cuts and a boost in defense spending, all
while balancing the budget, seemed well placed, but with the largest deficit run in peacetime up to
that time, Reagan proved he did not have the heart to make cuts to control the budget. Additionally,
the change from reactionary monetary policyto monetarism by Federal Reserve chairman Paul
Volckerdealt with the increasing inflation and unemployment problem of the late 1970 s, but at the
cost of deep recession. Reagan, who as a candidate had promised economic prosperity, found

The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to
late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to
stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to
reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared
by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be
seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the
bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of
1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the
control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to
fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of
times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of
money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over
time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. Even though

Detecting Fetal Abnormalities Through Ultrasound
Detecting Fetal Abnormalities Through Ultrasound Birth defects can have life threatening
consequences for the fetus. Many birth defects can be detected during pregnancy by an ultrasound.
Some of these abnormalities include abdominal wall defect, orofacial cleft, anencephaly, and down
syndrome. Although at this time ultrasound is the safest way to observe a fetus, risks are still
associated with it.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a test that sends sound waves into the woman s abdomen or vagina in order to
create an image to observe how the fetus is developing within the womb ( Pregnancy Ultrasound,
n.d.). Some of the many names for an ultrasound include pregnancy ultrasound, babi, obstetric

Exomphalos can be linked to genetic abnormalities and it may occur with any age of the mother
( Contact a Family, 2012). Gastroschisis is characterised by a defect in the abdominal wall and
it is positioned to one side of the umbilical cord, typically the right side. In most cases the bowel
will develop out of the abdomen. The bowel will remain out of the abdomen for the remaining
time of the pregnancy. In some cases, the amniotic fluid irritates the bowel and makes it
inflamed and thick, so that it does not work properly. Sometimes the bowel becomes twisted as it
floats in the fluid and the blood supply is restricted. ( Contact a Family, 2012). At birth, the bowel
can become further irritated when it is exposed to the air. Gastroschisis is associated with younger
mothers; if the mother is under 20 years old, the risk of her child having gastroschisis is twelve
times more likely ( Contact a Family, 2012). Gastroschisis is typically not linked with any other
abnormality, which means that is almost always an isolated abnormality ( Contact a Family, 2012).
After birth, both types of abdominal wall defects can be treated. The exposed organs are
typically wrapped in a surgical cling film, which helps prevent infection. A primary repair surgery
can be performed as soon as the baby is stable enough. This surgery is performed if a small portion
of the bowel was exposed. During this surgery, the bowl is simply returned to the abdomen and the

on how absorbent three major brands of paper towel were. Her findings were out of three major
brands (Brawny, Bounty and Scott) Scott absorbed the most (Sainz, A. 2012).
Experimental Procedure * Purchase three rolls of different brands of paper towels. * Get a
Notebook or piece of paper for data recordings. * Record the three brands of paper towels on you

Fill a medicine or eye dropper with water. * Place paper towel over clear glass bowl with rubber

Case Study On Garment Industry
Case Study 1
The study was carried out on the production facility of a T shirt based garment industry in India.
The current system used by the garment industry is Progressive bundling system (PBS).
However, the PBS system leads to bulks of work in process (WIP) because each PBS system is
being setup for each exclusive product. High amount of WIP causes high throughout time as well as
the rework time which will also makes the line balancing different with a lot of hidden defects in
the products. Besides that, the factory manufactures the t shirt in small order size with a lot of
styles. Thus, the production must hold minimum WIP between processes so that it can adapt to the
changes of order quickly with minimum setting time. By using the current PBS system, such
flexibility could not be achieved. Among all the departments, sewing department having the highest
amount of WIP. The main problem encountered by the sewing room is high production lead time.

Brain Candy Essay
Have you ever heard that too much television can ruin a child s mind? Malcolm Gladwell
proposes in his article, Brain Candy, that playing video games or watching television is just as
important as reading a book. Gladwell is using rhetorical appeals to prove that in fact, video games
are not dumbing down society. Pop cultureis helping to improve test scores and knowledge. In
Brain Candy, Malcolm Gladwell does affectively use rhetorical appeals to convince his audience
that pop culture is making our society smarter. First, Gladwell effectively appeals to logos.
Gladwell appeals to logic through statistics. In the opening paragraph, Gladwell cites statistics by

Conclusively, Gladwell uses pathos. Gladwell appeals to emotions through vivid images. Gladwell
states that Unlike the longstanding tradition of gameplaying which engages the child in a vivid,
three dimensional world filled with moving images and musical soundscapes, navigated and
controlled with complex muscular movements books are simply a barren string of words on the
page. Gladwell is giving an extremely vivid image of someone playing a game, rather than simply
reading words written on a page. This proves emotion by being able to see an idea of
gameplaying and not just seeing words written on a blank page. Gladwell also appeals to
emotions through properties of a book. Gladwell states that But perhaps the most dangerous
property of these books is the fact that they follow a fixed linear path ( Brain Candy ). This is an
example of emotions because books are isolating and not open minded because they follow a set
of distinct rules. In conclusion, pop culture is not dumbing down society; it is, in fact, making
society smarter. Malcolm Gladwell uses three different rhetorical appeals to prove this point.
Gladwell proposes that playing a game can help a child s mind more so than it would reading a
book. Pop culture is given in many different forms, and can help a child use different parts of the
brain.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Daniel
CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS
The book of Daniel is one about hope and unshakeable faith in God. Daniel is one of the greatest
examples of a God fearing man who did everything in his power to prove his love and loyalty for
his Savior. The main theme of the book of Daniel is God s sovereignty over history and empires,
in which He appoints and dethrones rulers as He pleases.1 This is an allusion to the fact that
worldly kingdoms will come and go, but the Lord s Kingdom will never pass away. Several
chapters throughout the book of Daniel deal with this concept. The book is named after the writer
and main character, written in the sixth century B.C., to record the events of his life and the
visions that he saw from the time of his exile to the third year of King Cyrus.2
The passage which is being studied is found in Daniel 3:8 30 which is the story of the fiery
furnace. Before one can examine this passage of Scripture, it is imperative that one understands the
events that took place before the action to fully understand the story. Refer the outline for the first
three chapters of Daniel for further explanation.

Benefits of Technology in the Classroom
Do you ever think about how much technology has changed the way we work, learn, play, and even
think? Technology is a major beneficiary to society; especially in the classroom where we get the
opportunity to learn and grow. In recent years, schools have begun implementing tablets and other
devices in the classroom to better student s education. The use of technology in the classroom
provides more of a personalized learning experience and gives students a widespread availability
to engage in learning. Technology is necessary in today s modern globe, it is basically the pen and

One of the more serious arguments presented by critics would be based on the topic of money.
They are afraid of how costly it will be to constantly upgrade and keep up with the rapid changes
in technology. 63% of schools and communities say that their budget is what is keeping them from
incorporating technology in their classroom (PBS, 2013). I find this to be an excuse to not have
technology in school, simply because those particular teachers and school is just not for it. In 2009,
President Barack Obama initiated the Educate to Innovate plan, which is meant to help American
students achieve better in school through the use of technology; since then Obama has been able
to raise $4.2 billion for this cause. This initiative is funded by leading companies, foundations,
and science and engineering societies ( President Obama on Education: Educate to Innovate ,
2013). Even if some schools are not being funded, not all students need a smart device, just one
device in the classroom can help motivate and boost the students learning experience in the
classroom. The use of technology has opened the door for e textbooks, email, and the online
submission of paperwork; all of these have allowed us to go green and save money. Instead of
printing things out on paper, digital devices allow us to complete all these tasks for free and in a
faster and more efficient manner.
Teachers also say that it can be difficult for them to monitor all their students to

Existentialism In The Outsider
The use of heat to portray existentialism is one of the crucial devices that amplify the tension in
Albert Camus The Outsider. The main character, Mersault, is an existentialist man who struggles to
be accepted and understood by his peers every day, while not even fully realizing that struggle. He
is the perfect representation of an existentialist, which is shown through the actions and thoughts he
expresses. He is existentialist in the sense that he is a sensuous man, always completely immersed
in what is happening at that very exact moment. He does not see the point in doing anything that
will not contribute to his happiness, which is greatly dependent on his primary senses. What mostly
affects Mersault s senses and his existentialist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of the novel, the author strongly links nature with existentialism, as its state
strongly affects Mersault s primary senses. When Mersault commits murder, his judgement is
wholly clouded by the heat and he does not feel as if he has control over his actions. In this
moment, the nature which he cherishes becomes his enemy: The sea swept ashore a great
breath of fire. The sky seemed to be splitting from end to end and raining down sheets of flame.
(Camus 60) Compared to his previous nature imagery, the outside world now becomes a threat in
his eyes, and he himself adapts that demeanor. With the murder, the very climax of the effect of
the heat is reached, as it completely distorts Mersault s understanding and shifts his perception of
right or wrong. This effect shows how heat is used as an extended metaphor. It is never connected

Selfish Motivations In Primeval Forest
In class, how we defined what it meant to be a missionary was an individual responding to a
need, a call to serve. From time to time, the area in which the missionary is called to serve is a
foreign land, where they would have to start anew and sacrifice some of their own privilege
interests. In general, when people think about missionaries, or what it means to be a missionary,
they picture a kind person, sympathetic to those around them. Someone who wants to work to
better the conditions of livelihood to those they will be serving. Missionaries are to be moral
people, or organizations, looking to serve for the better good. However, through the media
discussed in class, the main points of comparisons shed a new light on the term of becoming a
missionary: the sincere, wholesome imagery of missionaries soon start to fade. Instead,
Primeval Forest and Mosquito Coast show the darker side of doing missions: selfishness and
self satisfaction. In all three works seen or discussed in/for class, the main protagonists had
selfish motivations to travel abroad. In Primeval Forest, there seems to be a sense of ennui of the
doctor s life within the first page of the book. Having grown accustomed to the daily routine and
what he saw every day, he decided to embark on a new journey for a life in Africa. Similarly, in
Tanzanian Doctor, the protagonist ended up in Tanzania by coincidence. Wanting more than the
typical hospital life, he quit his job in search for something new. By coincidence,

Video Games and Violence
There are probably millions and billions of video games sold every year to people. Some people
seem to believe that violence correlates directly with video games. Video games are something
that is usually a big interest in people at the ages of 13 to 19 years old. Video games usually start
off as a little fun and then turn into a major hobby for some people. Emotions change based on
whatever happens while a person is engaging in these games most of the time. These games are
another way to observe how people react emotionally to these games.
These video games have ratings made officially by the Entertainment Software Rating Board or
ESRB for short. Video game ratings go in a specific order ranging from Rated EC which means
Early Childhood to Rated RP which means Rating Pending. There are also more ratings in this
guide such as Rated E for Everyone and Rated T for Teens ages 13 and older ( ESRB Ratings Guide
).These video game ratings help the person who is purchasing these games by showing what age is
recommended for the person to be able to play the games.
The Entertainment Software Ratings Board also makes content descriptors. These tell the people
who are buying these games what the game they are buying contains such as, blood and gore
which contains content only for ages 18 and up. Another descriptor is known as use of drugs which
is described as anything involving illegal drugs. Violent References is another content descriptor
which deals with killing people or

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night, By Dylan Thomas
Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is a poem written by Dylan Thomas. It has a strong
universal message, which has inspired and influenced many writers and performers alike over
decades. The poem is encouraging people to push to survive until death and to not succumb to the
peaceful release of dying, but to always fight for more life.
Thomas ultimate purpose in Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night is to inspire people to keep
going and to realize how amazing life can really be. He speaks of fighting against death, even in old
age and bad health. This shows the importance to Thomas of having a meaningful life and not
pettily releasing yourself to death. According to Cyr, the poem is directed towards his father, who
is on his deathbed at the time of writing. Thomas repeatedly tells him to Rage, rage against the
dying of the light. Even though death is inevitable, old people should resist dying for as long as
they can because being alive means having passion and emotions. The theme of this poem
represents mortality, or the struggle to survive. If someone has not truly lived their lives, or left an
impact, they should always fight against the death, ultimately making their life more worthwhile. ...

In the beginning, his feelings towards death are very apparent. Towards the end, the tone becomes
more personal and emotional because he speaks of his father. The message of the poem and why

taken to court, they want to help give the youths a chance to change their ways. The 2 measures

police officer. The child may then be sent off to a youth offending team to complete voluntary
work also known as community service, this will help to teach the youth a lesson not to punish
them. A final warning is given to a child who admits that they are wrong in the offence they have

Immune To Reality Daniel Gilbert Analysis
Humans are complex beings. We have different motivations, goals, and aspirations, but what
influences us to having these goals and what motivates us to strive for them. Daniel Gilbert, in his
essay immune to Reality states we have unconscious processes that influence our behavior, and also
that we heavily rely on the acceptance of others. Our goals coincided with others because human
have an instinctual drive to be accepted and to be happy, willing to do everything in their power
to gain that Our unconscious is constantly trying to make us feel better. Blurring the lines of
reality if need be. Think of a situation where your crush is talking to you. You swear that he/she is

They need to learn, have to answer to any questions or odd situation they are presented with. Its just
in our nature to seek the answer to everything, but its the curiosity keeping us interested, not the
answers themselves. A deeper connection is formed with a question than to an answer. You ll never
find someone obsessing over a solution once they have it, testing it a couple times making sure that
it work. Once an explanation is formed the spark is no longer there. Thought, having an unanswered
question, give us something to ponder, something to figure out. If humans were omniscient, we
wouldn t know how to entertain ourselves, wouldn t know what to strive for. Therefore, having an
explanation or an answer to a situation or questions makes it loses its luster, its in the past once the
explanation is clear and complete with further reason to continue questioning. Gilbert says The
second reason why unexplained events have a disproportionate emotional impact is that we are

These are well known things and celebrations in Mexican culture. The Day of the Dead is a

Another similarity between the two events is the fear of the unknown fear that swept through
America during these two time periods. In the 1600s, the people of Salem believed that they
were besieged by the devil, and became so scared of that possibility they began to see things from
a perspective that led them to believe that all things that happened that were not of a good nature
were of the devil and caused by a witch in the village. This movement reappeared in the McCarthy
era, when people began to see others spying, sending money, and supporting communism when, in
fact, they were totally against communism. Perhaps these people needed to read The Crucible and
see how much they resembled the girls in Salem on their witch hunt. In all their similarity, there are
some major differences between The Crucible and the McCarthyism of the fifties. The most
obvious difference is the four hundred year gap between the events of The Crucible and the events
that occurred during the McCarthyism period. This gap represents a distinct and different society
between the two events in history, and shows that circumstances pertaining to these events cannot
be the same. Also, the source of fear is different between the two times in history. The people of
Salem feared what they considered were the witches of their village,

Most college campuses have no reports of sexual assaults on campus. This statistic is very
inaccurate. The current statistics are that 9% of campuses report that rapes have happened on

estimated numbers seem hard to believe. Especially with cases such as the victim of the Stanford

After a year of practically living in hell. Turner s victim had to face him in court on trial. Turner

The victim asked to give a statement directionally to her accuser. In this statement she described the

Analysis Of Bruce Bairinsfather s One Of Those Balkan...
Bruce Bairinsfather s One of Those Balkan Muddles cartoon depicts a dejected soldier,
profoundly confused about his nationality and identity. The man does not seem to possess a
clear ethnicity or home country, thus neither does he possess a true citizenship. He is not
specifically tied to any one people, geographical area, or culture. The Empire was a confusing,
heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This
caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro
Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. As a real life example, the imperial census
of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their
identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet controversy raged when others argued for
history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz
Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly
as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s
lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. This issue will eventually lead to the
dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states.
The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in
geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent nor malevolent, surfaced

The CREEP employees stay quiet out of fear from their superiors. If someone speaks out, the
higher ups have the power to ruin someone s career and make their life difficult. This is seen in
the case of Hugh Sloan. He was the treasurer for CREEP and quits his job for not wanting to be a
part of the scandal. The higher ups turn him in the fallout guy and his reputation is ruined. Hugh
claimed that it is difficult to find another job because he is in the press too much. This can happen
to other employees and is one of the reasons they stay quiet. The employees may also fear for their

Descriptive Essay About The Sky
Life washes over those who expect it the least. One moment I was playing with the innocence of
time, then life came crashing in and destroyed everything. With water soaked clothes and tear
streaked cheeks, I returned home with the knowledge that life has no mercy. Life is not fair. Only
the sweet sting of reality to my beaten down ego was my companion.
Magnificent, heavenly light filters through the wispy clouds, signifying a new day. The thin clouds
slowly drift apart, presenting a beautiful sky beneath. Speaking out to me, the sky seems to know
every one of my thoughts, my dreams, my darkest fears. The sky is but a canvas of light, creating
a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture grows
beyond the expanse of sky. The colors splay before me, painfully beautiful and simple. Pink hues
morph into vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues. The glittering stretch of sea
shines before my eyes. With every new wave, the light from above whispers promises of riches and
sparkling diamonds. The light breeze that kisses the sea sends the twinkling light back into the air
above.
The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting
seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet
smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the churning
water I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love

The next big scandal came in the mid 1800s, at which point Wall Street had already become the

PTSD In Soldier s Heart
In the book Soldier s Heart by Gary Paulsen, Charley Goddard says, I have got to become a man
sometime. Charley, a boy about 15 years old, lives on a farm with his ma, and his little brother
Oran. His dad will not come around anymore because he gets kicked to death by a horse that
goes mad.The horse goes mad because a bee lands on it. Charley wants to me a man and grow
up, so he continues to ask his ma if he can join the army. His ma lets him join the army because
she thinks the war will quickly come to an end, but little does she know it will not. Charley joins
the war, and comes out with a soldiers heart. A soldier s heart represents the soldiers that come
home looking different or acting different from when they first left. Also known as PTSD, which
goes by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Charley develops from a boy looking for adventure into a
young man with a soldier s heart because he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since he has chosen to go to war at a young age, he sees several things others do not want to see.
Since being home, he lives on his own and does not bother looking for a wife because he thinks
he is too old. Although he is only 23, he says he becomes old from seeing too much, old from too
much life, and old from knowing too much. He is walking with a cane, and he passes blood.
Charley does not think he will be alive any longer. In certain ways it makes him sad, but in other
ways it makes him happy having to not remember all that he has gone through. He makes himself
a picnic near the creek. While watching the water flow, he often wonders whether he should visit
the others, and by others Charley means the people who got killed in the war. Charley keeps a
weapon he took off of a confederate officer, who has been dead. He comes close to visiting the
others because he wants the pain to go away, but now he decides not to leave. He is continuing to

Dr. Jenny Crisp s English 98 Class
I observed Dr. Jenny Crisp s English 98 class on January 19, 2016. The class began at 12:15 PM
and lasted until 1:20 PM. The room that the class met in was on the third floor of the Liberal Arts
building, and the room had individual computers for each of the students to work on. The class
was divided into two sections on this day because Dr. Crisp had scheduled an introductory visit to
the writinglab, which began at 12:45. Prior to the visit to the writing lab, Dr. Crisp guided the
class in a discussion on the topic of revision in regards to the first paper that the class had
submitted. The stages of revision were discussed and the students were shown where additional
help could be found within the book. Dr. Crisp told the students that the reason that their grades
on the essays were significantly lower was because the essays were lacking in detail and had Type
One errors. She stated that revision is important and that could help bring up the grades on the
essays. The students had mixed reactions regarding the subject of revision. Some of the students
engaged with Dr. Crisp and began asking questions about how she graded their papers in order to
better understand what she was looking for within the essay. The majority of the students in the
class were more concerned with Facebook and other programs on their computers than in getting
assistance on interpreting the grades received. Dr. Crisp struggled to bring those students into the
discussion. Within the

Candide Or Optimism Voltaire Summary
In his analysis of Voltaire s Candide or Optimism entitled Candide s Garden Bottiglia contends that
it was the disasters of the 1750 s that befell both Europe and Voltaire, that influenced the creation of
Candide or Optimism. including, the death of his mistress in childbirth, the Seven Years War The
Lisbon disaster and his personal rupture with his friend Frederick the Great. He starts by focusing
on the parallels between Candides ejection from the Westphalian Baron s castle with the ejection of

The Bible Or Scared Scripture
The Bible
The word Bible comes from the Greek word biblia meaning books . The Greek word itself is
taken from Biblion, meaning paper, book or scroll and was a diminutive of the word Byblos or
papyrus. Bible or the Scared Scripture is the written, inspired Word of God. The Bible was written
by different human authors; the writers wrote the Bible under the inspiration and guidance of the
Holy Ghost (spirit).
(Stawarz, 2018)
The Bible is the book of mankind in this world and there is no one book in this world that
matches with the holy Bible. Bible is referred to us as the book of life in the history of mankind.
The story of Bible being in Genesis with the creation of heaven and earth, the Bible is consisting
of two parts the Old and the New Testament. The Old Testament is consisting of 5 books, Genesis,
Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy this books are known as the Torah or the Law , or

Examples Of Child Care Observation
Step 1: Participant.
The child I chose to observe was a brown hair, Hispanic 15 month old girl. The reason I chose to
observe her is because I have seen her at the daycare before and she is always so happy, and has
such a fun personality. When I began to observe her she was just getting to the center, and her
parents just dropped her off.
Step 2: Consent. You need to insure an adult responsible for the child has given you permission to
observe the child.
I had to get consent from the director of Oakwood Methodist Daycare, as well as the parent. I
briefly described to both the director and the parent what my paper was going to be about, and
asked if it would be okay if I observed the little girl in the infant room. The director had no
problem with it. The mother also agreed to it, but she did ask to obtain a copy of the paper before
submitting it just so she could read it, and make sure everything looked good.
Step 3: Procedure.
The place of observation took place at my work, before I clocked in for the day. I work at Oakwood
Methodist Preschool/Daycare. I went in to the daycare at about 9:00, which is just free play/
breakfast time in the infant room. The infant room I observed in was a little different than the
CDRC, because the infant room is from 7 weeks old to 18 months old. There was not really a place

Much Ado About Nothing Essay
William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing is a play involving by deception, disloyalty,
trickery, eavesdropping, and hearsay. The play contains numerous examples of schemes that are
used to manipulate the thoughts of other characters; it is the major theme that resonates throughout
the play. Ironically, it is one of these themes that bring serenity to the chaos that encompasses most
of the play.
amp;#9;The first example of deception we see is with the characters of Beatrice and Benedick.
These two characters provide the humor throughout Shakespeare s comedy; their repartees and
soliloquies tend to leave the reader smiling and anxious for more dialogue between them. Beatrice
and Benedick have had a relationship prior to their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Benedick, shows us his true feelings in his soliloquy: amp;quot; This can be no trick... / I will be
horribly in love with her amp;quot; (2.3.210,223). Benedick, decides that he will allow himself to
fall in love with Beatrice.
amp;#9;The second example of deception is seen in Act 3.1. Hero and Ursula do their parts to trick
Beatrice into falling in love with Benedick. They speak highly of Benedick and amp;quot;praise
him more than ever man did merit amp;quot; (3.3.19). In her eavesdropping and overhearing she
falls for the bait, as did Benedick. In Beatrice s soliloquy she discloses her thoughts of Benedick s
false affectations towards her. She is willing to tame her heart so that Benedick and she can be
together. Beatrice s submissiveness shows her subconscious yearnings to be in love, as well as
Benedick even though She and Benedick aren t willing to admit it.
amp;#9;The most heinous act of deception in Much Ado About Nothing is committed against Hero,
the daughter of Leonato, and Claudio. These two characters, unlike Beatrice and Benedick, fall in
love after seeing each other for the first time Shakespeare s classic case of love at first sight. The
deception starts after Borachio overhears Don Pedro s plan to amp;quot;assume thy part in some
disguise amp;quot; (1.1.305) in order to woo Hero for Claudio. At the masquerade party, while
Don Pedro is dancing with Hero in hopes of wooing her for Claudio, Borachio and

Celtic Life Essay
Upon hearing the term Celtic, the first things that come to mind are the awe of their intricately
patterned jewelry, lively music, and the flowing tunics they wore. These people are also known
for being fierce warriors and for their superstitious, nature centered religion. Celtic customs are
still alive and well in places like Ireland and the western reaches of Britain, but within this essay I
shall explore their origins and traditions. To start off, I will address the Tumuluspeoples. They were
among the growing number of societies whom spoke dialects that branched off of Indo European; a
language originating in, and spread from, the border between the continents of Asia and Europe.
The Tumulus, among other groups and tribes, began... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning the pro Celts established that their society was that of warriors, spending
much of their time warring with other groups and taking territories. They gained an advantage in
their warfare and trade alike once horses became commonly used in Celtic society. The increased
mobility put them a notch above the rest; helping the Celts in their invasions and defense. In the 7th
and 8th centuries BC, their boundaries kept pushing into lands which today would be called
Germany and France. Sizeable hilltop forts were built to maintain the people whom the Celts took
power over.
As time went on and lands were conquered, typical burial procedures morphed. Because of
having such a war centered life, they began burying the dead with their swords to commemorate
them for the gritty effort they contributed to their people. Supplies such as wagons, good pottery,
and food were also stowed away with the bodies in order for them to have a well prepared
afterlife. Chiefs, in particular, were buried with special bronze urns and multiple swords. Towards
the 8th century BC, as the Iron Age dawned, warriors began to be buried with sturdier iron
weapons. Wooden chambers replaced cremation urns more and more often as the 7th century
moved into the 6th century BC. Items such as swords and eating implements were still included. In

Existence Of Ghost Research Paper
The Existence of Ghosts
In folklore, mythology, and modern media such as literary fiction, a ghost is the soul or spirit of a
dead person or animal that can appear, invisible form or other manifestation, to the living.
(Wikipedia). The existence of ghosts has always been an alerting and spooky, debatable motion that
humans are curious of. There have been countless amounts of evidence gathered by paranormal
investigators or ghost hunters. From videos of moving objects, recordings of voices from spirits
through EVP, and even pictures of ghosts themselves. All of which the world sees as undeniable or
fraudulent evidence based on one s own self belief. However, with numerous accounts of
documentation from not only paranormal investigators, but actual people from across the world, it
s almost impossible to not believe that such phenomenon exist on earth, and those who do not are
just terrified to accept it.
To determining whether or not the existences of ghosts are true, there are many resources we use
that can gather massive information. To investigate if environmental fluctuations actually occur in
haunted locations, a television production company called Global Media Productions, Los Angeles,
enlisted the help of several technologies. The company used really specific thermometers to take
temperature measurements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Student Loans Argumentative Essay
As educational cost has altogether expanded in the course of the last 20 30 years, it has turned out
to be extremely prevalent for college students to support their financial costs through student loans.
Higher educational costs have turned out to be so expensive that it is nearly impossible for students
to accommodate these expenses by just working alone. Education loan debtin the United States now
stands at approximately $ 1.2 trillion, and some thirty nine million Americans, nearly 20% of U.S.
households, owe student loans (Austin, 2015). As a result, countless numbers of collegestudents
hold a large obligation to pay off these student loans once they graduate. Obligation from such
student loans has turned into a classic reality and something students of this generation expect when
being admitted to a university. Individuals trust that an education from a university is justified

The Effect of Divorce on Parent and Child Essay
Divorce is a plague that is destroying numerous families across the United States of America.
Sadly, when husbands and wives divorce, the children are often caught directly in the middle.
Throughout the years divorce has been becoming more and more common. In the 1920 s it was a
rare find to know a person whom had been divorced, today it is a rarity not to know of one who has
been, or will be divorced. Divorcehas numerous effects on the structures of families, and many
devastating effects on the children that must experience it, although sometimes necessary, divorce

Sometimes divorce may be the only way to solve the various problems a family may have.
Custody
When parents become divorced there are many decisions that they must come to an agreement
upon. How will are possessions be divided? and What will happen to the children? are often the
most asked questions when divorce occurs. Custody is almost always the largest battle when
husband and wife become divorced. Custody includes all duties a parent owes a child including,
food, shelter, protection discipline, education, and even a child s religious beliefs (Martin 32).
Often, a judge must make custody decisions for the parents. There are several types of custody, but
the most common are sole custody, joint legal custody, and joint physical custody.
In sole custody, a single parent provides shelter and makes all important decisions for the child. In
joint legal custody, the child lives with a single parent but decisions are agreed upon by both.
Finally, in joint physical custody the child lives with each parent for equal periods of time and
important decisions may be made by either one, or both parents (Furstenberg 32).
Sole custody children often live with the custodial parent for two week periods and live with the
non custodial parent for two day time periods (Wolchik 164). This gives the child a stable home to
live in while also allowing the child to have a relationship with both parents. Of all different types

Newton And Seurat Research Paper
The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of
many. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout
each of our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir
Isaac Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat.
Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton
discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he
was also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on
falling objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also
realized that the moon would fly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, when you stand on something soft, the object caves in or is pushed down. This is the
reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat
painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884,
Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments
such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the
earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in
Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention
was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to
achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual
pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald
green and vermilion. Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate),
predominantly for yellow highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in
mixtures with orange and blue pigments. In the century and

  • 2. Motivation And Motivation For Academic Achievements It is important for everyone especially students to do well in school because it reflects in the foundation of their accomplishments in life. Students are affect their ability to move to the next level when they fail to complete some requirements. It takes many factors to motivate individuals to continue on striving for academic achievements. (Higgins, 2008) It is said that motivation gives big contribution in one individual s success. Motivation is defined as the organized patterning of three psychological functions that serves to direct, energize, and regulate goal oriented activity: personal goals, emotional arousal processes, and personal agency beliefs. It is an interactive construct representing the direction a person is going, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In conformity with the social norms, people learn by imitating others. However, people don t learn only the acceptable social behaviours, they may also learn beyond the norms behaviours. Knowledge gained in this way will have the chance to be transferred to another situation. This may continue all the time and everywhere. In the same vein, we can argue that students spend most of their time by learning. This can happen in different situations. It can be seen in groups while with others. (Woldetsadik Lumadi, 2014) In a school situation students continuously engage themselves in the learning process. It can be observed when they do assignments, read books and do other related academic activities. Obviously, this is a regular process exercised by most of the students in schools. However, the habit of doing these things can t happen at a time. It needs careful observation and systematic exercise. All these efforts lead students to make their own meaning /understanding of the activities. Besides, it enables them to reach at a level of sharing their own experiences and to become a continuous process. In view of this, Battersby and Gordon (2006) have cited some of the specific situations that can develop experience within the school context. They stated varied sources of experience. They believe that the identification of best characteristics of both teachers and students, either in group or individually, in the first place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Respiratory Tract Infections ( Rtis ) Respiratory Tract Infections (RTIs) The upper respiratory tract consists of the nose, nasal passages, paranasal sinuses, pharynx and part of the larynx above the vocal cord (Porth, 2011). Common cold (self limiting but can lead to secondary bacterial infections), sinusitis, otitis media, croup, epiglottis, influenza and scarlet fever are the most common complication of URI (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). On the other hand, lower respiratory tract consists of the trachea and the lungs (bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli (Porth, 2011). Lower respiratory tract infection includes bronchiolitis (RSVP), pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), tuberculosis, histoplasmosis and anthrax (VanMeter Hubert, 2014). Antibiotics are usually prescribed for non specific upper respiratory tract infection to avoid small risks for getting worst and becoming bacterial infection. Patients with acute respiratory infection with antibiotic treatment were not at increased risk for severe adverse effect and had a small decreased risk of hospitalization due to pneumonia (Meropol, Localio, Metlay, 2013). Similarly, presence of risk factors such as age 65, COPD, diabetes, heart failure, atherosclerotic heart disease, asthma, smoking, etc. had similar prescription rate of 62% to those patients without risk factors (Grover, Mookadam, Rutkowski, Cullan, Hill, Patchett Noble, 2012). Pathophysiology of Common Cold The common cold is a self limiting upper respiratory tract infection with sign and symptoms of nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sneezing, and cough. It is a viral disease that does not respond to antibiotic (Zoorob, Sidani, Fremont Kihlberg, 2012). The common culprits that cause the infections are rhinovirus, adenovirus, parainfluenza virus or coronavirus. This virus is usually spread through droplets via inhalation, aerosol, and secretion on hand or direct contact with contaminated object. This infection is highly contagious since it produces a large number of infected nasal mucosa during the first few days and can live for many days outside of a body ... • 4. Pinhole Camera History Photography Photography is a word derived from the Greek words photos ( light ) and graphein ( to draw ) The word was first used by the scientist Sir John F.W. Herschel in 1839. It is a method of recording images by the action of light, or related radiation, on a sensitive material (Bellis 1). Photography has been around for quite a few years. It has evolved from a pinhole camera, to a flexible film camera, and now to digital cameras, but it is slowly being replaced by cellphones and isn t pursued by as many people. Not very many people have that kind of money to put on a lens. Photography has been around for quite a few years. • 5. The Great Gatsby Book Cover Essay My cover for the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald features the symbol which would be the green light that is mentioned in the story book. The symbol, which again is the green light, symbolizes Gatsby s unrequited love for the beautiful and fair Daisy. Jay Gatsby likes to look up and gaze at the twinkling stars, until he saw the green light that is in Daisy s house that is across from his own house. Gatsby does not realize this at first because he thought that the green light was a star, but in actuality it is a light in Daisy s house. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My book cover for the book The Great Gatsby goes very well for the real book because Jay Gatsby knows so much about Daisy and he would have done anything to get hold of her attention, and Daisy does not know what Jay Gatsby is up to until later in the story. I, Mauricio B. Romero, personally selected this symbol for my cover because it has a much bigger and thoughtful meaning, therefore it is easy to put into a state of imagery. I wanted to show Jay Gatsby would walk a street to street just so he can be with the one woman he wants to be with. Even if Daisy does not know what is going on or does not know much about the man, that won t stop Jay Gatsby from trying continuously in different ways to get her in his grasp and for them to be happy together. So, that concludes this explanation and I am typing this conclusion just so I can get my word count up to 350 or above. Mrs. Striblen, you better not make me retype this because I am at a loss of ... His eagerness to please citizens with tax cuts and a boost in defense spending, all while balancing the budget, seemed well placed, but with the largest deficit run in peacetime up to that time, Reagan proved he did not have the heart to make cuts to control the budget. Additionally, the change from reactionary monetary policyto monetarism by Federal Reserve chairman Paul Volckerdealt with the increasing inflation and unemployment problem of the late 1970 s, but at the cost of deep recession. The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of 1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. Gastroschisis is characterised by a defect in the abdominal wall and it is positioned to one side of the umbilical cord, typically the right side. In most cases the bowel will develop out of the abdomen. The bowel will remain out of the abdomen for the remaining time of the pregnancy. In some cases, the amniotic fluid irritates the bowel and makes it inflamed and thick, so that it does not work properly. Sometimes the bowel becomes twisted as it floats in the fluid and the blood supply is restricted. ( Contact a Family, 2012). At birth, the bowel can become further irritated when it is exposed to the air. Gastroschisis is associated with younger mothers; if the mother is under 20 years old, the risk of her child having gastroschisis is twelve times more likely ( Contact a Family, 2012). Gastroschisis is typically not linked with any other abnormality, which means that is almost always an isolated abnormality ( Contact a Family, 2012). After birth, both types of abdominal wall defects can be treated. The exposed organs are typically wrapped in a surgical cling film, which helps prevent infection. The current system used by the garment industry is Progressive bundling system (PBS). High amount of WIP causes high throughout time as well as the rework time which will also makes the line balancing different with a lot of hidden defects in the products. Besides that, the factory manufactures the t shirt in small order size with a lot of styles. Gladwell states that Unlike the longstanding tradition of gameplaying which engages the child in a vivid, three dimensional world filled with moving images and musical soundscapes, navigated and controlled with complex muscular movements books are simply a barren string of words on the page. Gladwell is giving an extremely vivid image of someone playing a game, rather than simply reading words written on a page. This proves emotion by being able to see an idea of gameplaying and not just seeing words written on a blank page. Gladwell also appeals to emotions through properties of a book. Gladwell states that But perhaps the most dangerous property of these books is the fact that they follow a fixed linear path ( Brain Candy ). This is an example of emotions because books are isolating and not open minded because they follow a set of distinct rules. • 15. Rhetorical Analysis Of Daniel CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS The book of Daniel is one about hope and unshakeable faith in God. Daniel is one of the greatest examples of a God fearing man who did everything in his power to prove his love and loyalty for his Savior. The main theme of the book of Daniel is God s sovereignty over history and empires, in which He appoints and dethrones rulers as He pleases.1 This is an allusion to the fact that worldly kingdoms will come and go, but the Lord s Kingdom will never pass away. Several chapters throughout the book of Daniel deal with this concept. The book is named after the writer and main character, written in the sixth century B.C., to record the events of his life and the visions that he saw from the time of his exile to the third year of King Cyrus.2 The passage which is being studied is found in Daniel 3:8 30 which is the story of the fiery furnace. Before one can examine this passage of Scripture, it is imperative that one understands the events that took place before the action to fully understand the story. Refer the outline for the first three chapters of Daniel for further explanation. I. Daniel and the Three Friends at the Babylonian Court (1:1 6:28) a. Prologue (1:1 21) i. The use of technology in the classroom provides more of a personalized learning experience and gives students a widespread availability to engage in learning. I find this to be an excuse to not have technology in school, simply because those particular teachers and school is just not for it. • 17. Existentialism In The Outsider The use of heat to portray existentialism is one of the crucial devices that amplify the tension in Albert Camus The Outsider. The main character, Mersault, is an existentialist man who struggles to be accepted and understood by his peers every day, while not even fully realizing that struggle. He is the perfect representation of an existentialist, which is shown through the actions and thoughts he expresses. He is existentialist in the sense that he is a sensuous man, always completely immersed in what is happening at that very exact moment. He does not see the point in doing anything that will not contribute to his happiness, which is greatly dependent on his primary senses. From the beginning of the novel, the author strongly links nature with existentialism, as its state strongly affects Mersault s primary senses. When Mersault commits murder, his judgement is wholly clouded by the heat and he does not feel as if he has control over his actions. In this moment, the nature which he cherishes becomes his enemy: The sea swept ashore a great breath of fire. The sky seemed to be splitting from end to end and raining down sheets of flame. (Camus 60) Compared to his previous nature imagery, the outside world now becomes a threat in his eyes, and he himself adapts that demeanor. With the murder, the very climax of the effect of the heat is reached, as it completely distorts Mersault s understanding and shifts his perception of right or wrong. This effect shows how heat is used as an extended metaphor. It is never connected to anything remotely positive, accompanying Meursault only in his most difficult moments, even when he does not necessarily find his situation burdensome. His mother s funeral and the murder are both directly connected by the heat: It was still the same sun, the same light and the same sand as before, and It was the same sun as on the day of Mother s funeral and again it was my forehead that was hurting the most and all the veins were throbbing at once beneath my skin. • 18. Selfish Motivations In Primeval Forest In class, how we defined what it meant to be a missionary was an individual responding to a need, a call to serve. From time to time, the area in which the missionary is called to serve is a foreign land, where they would have to start anew and sacrifice some of their own privilege interests. In general, when people think about missionaries, or what it means to be a missionary, they picture a kind person, sympathetic to those around them. Someone who wants to work to better the conditions of livelihood to those they will be serving. Missionaries are to be moral people, or organizations, looking to serve for the better good. However, through the media discussed in class, the main points of comparisons shed a new light on the term of becoming a missionary: the sincere, wholesome imagery of missionaries soon start to fade. Instead, Primeval Forest and Mosquito Coast show the darker side of doing missions: selfishness and self satisfaction. In all three works seen or discussed in/for class, the main protagonists had selfish motivations to travel abroad. In Primeval Forest, there seems to be a sense of ennui of the doctor s life within the first page of the book. Having grown accustomed to the daily routine and what he saw every day, he decided to embark on a new journey for a life in Africa. Similarly, in Tanzanian Doctor, the protagonist ended up in Tanzania by coincidence. Wanting more than the typical hospital life, he quit his job in search for something new. By coincidence, ... The Empire was a confusing, heterogeneous mixture of several ethnicities forced into a single citizenship and state. This caricature reflects a comedized reality for many people living within the borders of the Austro Hungarian Empire during and prior to World War One. As a real life example, the imperial census of the Austro Hungarian Empire in 1910 caused problems when it asked subjects to state their identity. The official criterion was language spoken, yet controversy raged when others argued for history, geography, anthropology and ethnography as the key criteria. Divisively, Emperor Franz Joseph, at the head of a dynasty which was supposed to be supra national, put himself down firmly as German on the census form . Bairinsfather s cartoon soldier is the personification of Empire s lack of clear collective identity, and thus no true citizenship. This issue will eventually lead to the dissolution of the Empire into several constituent states. The epoch that the cartoon was drawn in was defined by the emergence of a central force in geopolitics: The nation state. The force of nationalism, neither benevolent nor malevolent, surfaced as ... This raises the question of what causes this fear or paranoia in the employees. The CREEP employees stay quiet out of fear from their superiors. If someone speaks out, the higher ups have the power to ruin someone s career and make their life difficult. This is seen in the case of Hugh Sloan. He was the treasurer for CREEP and quits his job for not wanting to be a part of the scandal. The higher ups turn him in the fallout guy and his reputation is ruined. Hugh claimed that it is difficult to find another job because he is in the press too much. This can happen to other employees and is one of the reasons they stay quiet. • 32. Descriptive Essay About The Sky Life washes over those who expect it the least. One moment I was playing with the innocence of time, then life came crashing in and destroyed everything. With water soaked clothes and tear streaked cheeks, I returned home with the knowledge that life has no mercy. Life is not fair. Only the sweet sting of reality to my beaten down ego was my companion. Magnificent, heavenly light filters through the wispy clouds, signifying a new day. The thin clouds slowly drift apart, presenting a beautiful sky beneath. Speaking out to me, the sky seems to know every one of my thoughts, my dreams, my darkest fears. The sky is but a canvas of light, creating a new picture within seconds. Weaving a story through the delicate clouds, the picture grows beyond the expanse of sky. The colors splay before me, painfully beautiful and simple. Pink hues morph into vibrant purples as they blend with the beautiful blues. The glittering stretch of sea shines before my eyes. With every new wave, the light from above whispers promises of riches and sparkling diamonds. The light breeze that kisses the sea sends the twinkling light back into the air above. The ocean strokes land with calm and reassuring hands, lacing water with sand and lifting seashells in its wake. My heart urges me forward, to walk among the peace, to capture the sweet smell of sea salt. My brain reasons with the rest of my body. Turning sharply from the churning water I force my feet to leave the warm imprint they have grown to love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scandals have included fraud, blackmail, and even outright stealing of money. Once the public realized Duer s investments were fake, a public panic ensued which caused the first ever financial panic in America. After inflation, over 50 million dollars were lost which, while today may not seem a lot, one has to realize that the United States had only a fraction of its population and land that it does today. Duer set the stage for Wall Street scandals to come, and they would only get bigger as the years went by. The next big scandal came in the mid 1800s, at which point Wall Street had already become the most important financial institution in the Western world, and men such as Daniel Drew had become one of the richest men on the planet. But Daniel Drew s success did not come legally. The technique Drew used was what is today known as a pump and dump scheme, where a large portion of a company s stock is bought before publicly decrying the company ( Pump and Dump, n.d.). Negative publicity for the company would cause the stock s price to tumble, and Drew was able to sell short the stock for massive returns. Selling short is when an investment is made with an expectation that the price will go down, and where profit is only feasible in extreme cases where a stock fails ( Selling Short, n.d.). The stages of revision were discussed and the students were shown where additional help could be found within the book. Dr. Crisp told the students that the reason that their grades on the essays were significantly lower was because the essays were lacking in detail and had Type One errors. She stated that revision is important and that could help bring up the grades on the essays. The students had mixed reactions regarding the subject of revision. They gained an advantage in their warfare and trade alike once horses became commonly used in Celtic society. In the 7th and 8th centuries BC, their boundaries kept pushing into lands which today would be called Germany and France. Sizeable hilltop forts were built to maintain the people whom the Celts took power over. As time went on and lands were conquered, typical burial procedures morphed. Because of having such a war centered life, they began burying the dead with their swords to commemorate them for the gritty effort they contributed to their people. Supplies such as wagons, good pottery, and food were also stowed away with the bodies in order for them to have a well prepared afterlife. Chiefs, in particular, were buried with special bronze urns and multiple swords. Towards the 8th century BC, as the Iron Age dawned, warriors began to be buried with sturdier iron weapons. In sole custody, a single parent provides shelter and makes all important decisions for the child. In joint legal custody, the child lives with a single parent but decisions are agreed upon by both. Finally, in joint physical custody the child lives with each parent for equal periods of time and important decisions may be made by either one, or both parents (Furstenberg 32). Sole custody children often live with the custodial parent for two week periods and live with the non custodial parent for two day time periods (Wolchik 164). This gives the child a stable home to live in while also allowing the child to have a relationship with both parents. Of all different types ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Newton And Seurat Research Paper The world that we live in is constantly innovating new ideas and methods to benefit the lives of many. It is a fascinating opportunity to reflect on all the inventions that have been made throughout each of our lifetimes. Two very important individuals that shaped the world we live in today is Sir Isaac Newton and Georges Pierre Seurat. Sir Isaac Newton was an English mathematician and physicist. There is a theory that Newton discovered gravity when he saw a falling apple. Supposedly, when he was observing the apple he was also thinking about the forces of nature. Newton realized that some force must be acting on falling objects like apples because otherwise they would not start moving from rest. Newton also realized that the moon would fly ... This is the reaction of one s force on the soft object, and the soft object s reaction to one standing on it.Seurat painted the La Grande Jatte in three distinct stages. In the first stage, which was started in 1884, Seurat mixed his paints from several individual pigments and was still using dull earth pigments such as ochre or burnt sienna. In the second stage, during 1885 and 1886, Seurat dispensed with the earth pigments and also limited the number of individual pigments in his paints. This change in Seurat s palette was due to his application of the advanced color theories of his time. His intention was to paint small dots or strokes of pure color that would then mix on the retina of the beholder to achieve the desired color impression instead of the usual practice of mixing individual pigments.Seurat s palette consisted of the usual pigments of his time such as cobalt blue, emerald green and vermilion. Additionally, Seurat used then new pigment zinc yellow (zinc chromate), predominantly for yellow highlights in the sunlit grass in the middle of the painting but also in mixtures with orange and blue pigments. In the century and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
