This makes Nepal prone to thunderstorms. - On average, 108 people die from lightning each year in Nepal, and over 255 are injured. The deaths are concentrated in the mountainous Chure and Siwalik regions. - In addition to loss of human life, lightning causes economic losses through property damage, fires, and disruptions to infrastructure and electricity.
