2. Silas Deane Research Paper
History is often said to be what has happened in the past, and a historian s job is to bring that
information back, without distorting it. This undistorted passing of history is often times may
not always be achieved, and the story of the death of Silas Deane is a great example of that The
formerly known story was one of rags to riches, and back to rags. He was born to a humble
blacksmith, who had high aspirations for his son, and sent him off to Yale, where he studied law.
He opened his own practice and was very successful. Not satisfied, he entered into the world of
politics, working his way up the ladder, eventually becoming a delegate to the first and second
Continental Congresses, drawing the attention of leaders. He was then sent to France as the
American representative of the colonies, later joined by Benjamin Franklin and Arthur Lee. He was
described as ambitious and someone to be watched, even accused of using his position in
government for personal profit. Further controversy forced him out of France, America, and
England, ending up in Flanders. He lived there until the controversy died down some and then
moved to England, where he lived in obscurity, resorting to drinking, and living in the house of a
prostitute. His one loyal friend, Edward Bancroft, provided financial support for him. When he
thought the coast was clear to move back, he set sail for America aboard the Boston Packet out of
London. On its way, a storm came, blowing out both of the ships anchors, and it changed course for

3. Symbols In Lord Of The Flies Research Paper
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, Words are but symbols for the relations of things to one another
and to us. According to dictionary.com, a symbol is something used for or regarded as
representing something else. There are many important symbols represented in The Lord of the
Flies by William Golding. These include the beast, the conch, and the signal fire. The beast, the
conch, and the signal fire are important symbols because they teach a lot to the boys and make
them who they are on the island. Who is the beast?; what is the conch?; and why is it important
to keep the fire? There is a beast in The Lord of the Flies. The beast is a figure of speech. It
represents the evil in all of us. The beast also stands for the devil in The Bible. Simon realizes
this after Jacks becomes obsessed with hunting and after he leaves to make his own tribe. All of
the boys on the island start to turn on each other; two of the boys are killed. Jack keeps
referencing to a beast on the island every time he hunts or kills a pig. There isnt a real, physical
beast. The actual beast is Jack himself. He shows no mercy to what he hunts, like when he and his
tribe repeatedly stab the sow and Simon. The beast is an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The signal fire stands for survival. Ralph uses the fire as a smoke signal so that when a ship
passes by, someone on the boat can see the smoke and come to the rescue. The fire is also used
by Jack to cook the meat. When the hunters let the fire go out the first time, a ship passed by and
didn t see them on the island. From there on, Ralph made sure there was always a fire going. The
fires were started by using Piggy s glasses in the sun. They boys could only find that one way to
start a fire so Ralph s main concern was to keep the fire ablaze. The fire eventually had the boys
recsued when the island caught on fire for the seconf time. The signal fire was an important symbol
because it represented their will to

4. The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports
Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in
today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain
sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is
there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing
does no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health
Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the
body s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility
or skill (Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t
make the athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and
easier way to get an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete
getting big that makes them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them
better stronger and more competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is
illegal in major league, and worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage
on the users body. These effects include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver
tumors, stunted skeletal growth, hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side

5. The Transformation of the Role of Women within Victorian...
The role of women during the Victorian Era has been a prevalent topic over the course of the
semester. Women during that time had limited rights, and the rights they did have were equivalent
to that of children. Domesticity, caring for their husband and children was the focus of their
livelihood. As England continued to grow and industrialize, women became more marginalized,
while men continued to grow into dominant members of society, this is known as the notion of
separate spheres. The notion of separate spheres was not limited to the role women and men had
in the home, but extended into the streets and the workplace. Men were seen as formidable,
intellectual, and the governing sex; whereas, women on the other hand, were disregarded as
emotionally unstable, dominated by their sexuality, and submissive to men s wants and desires.
Women were not only given limited rights to the roles they had in society, but also were not
given the right to choose whom they wanted to marry. A majority of women had no other option
but to marry as a way to maintain their livelihood, unless they were members of high social
standings. Additionally, the rights of a woman were again lessened after she wed. The moment a
woman married, she automatically became the property of her husband. The limited rights she had
before were stripped away: her property, identity, and value ceased to exist the moment she became
the helpmate to a man. The ideology of the role women played did not

6. The Importance Of Violence In Schools
When it comes to violence in schools, it s nothing new. Every day, the news media covers a story
over violence happening in school. My views over violence in school is there needs to be better
protection. The safety in schools is important because the kids in school is our future. They are our
future engineers, doctors, lawyers, etc., and if they don t have the protection they need, the kids in
schoolcan t learn. A couple suggestions to make the schools safer are practice the A.L.I.C.E. more
than once, go over what to do when an intruder is in the building, and how to protect themselves
and the people around them.
A way for the schools to be safer is to practice the A.L.I.C.E. A.L.I.C.E. stands for Alert,
Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate (Eells). It s effective to practice it because the kids
and teachers have a chance to practice how to protect themselves during a real life events. School
intruder situations can last anywhere between five to seven minutes (Eells). When the school is
alerted that they are on lockdown, teachers are advised to use plain and simple language. They
are advised to use plain and simple language because it won t confuse the children and they can
escape quicker. If the class can t escape through the windows or through the doors, the school urges
them to barricade and lockdown the classroom. Barricading the classroom may include moving file
cabinets to the door, shoving desks against the door also, and covering all windows. After lockdown,

7. Recipe For Brownie Research Paper
Cookie, Oreo Brownie Recipe.
Today we will be making a delicious recipe for chocolate brownies. This is my favorite type of
brownies, since it has more than just brownie batter. In this delicacy along with the brownie
batter, I will be including chocolate chip cookie dough, Oreos and to top it off a scoop of vanilla
ice cream. I like to call these brownies The You re One Step Closer to Diabetes Brownie.
Let us start this magnificent recipe by preheating your oven to 375 degrees.
To begin, you will need to make the cookie dough. In order to make the cookie dough you will need:
1/4 cup packed brown sugar

8. An Auspicious Tibetan Furniture Piece
It is interesting to think that furniture is something we take for granted in the modern West, unless
we are interested in and collect antique furniture. Western furniture includes useful, practical items
chairs that we sit on, raised beds that we sleep on, desks that we rest our computers on,
bookshelves we put our books on, etc. So it can be hard to imagine a culture, such as that of Tibet,
where some of the furniture has a completely different function, being used in a ritual and
devotional capacity. In this essay, I will be analyzing a nineteenth century furniture piece from
Central Tibet with the label name Altar Table with Auspicious Symbols that is currently on view at
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. The furnishing is made from wood with mineral pigments
and stands approximately twenty four inches in height, thirty three inches in width, and eleven
inches in depth. My goal, upon completion of the essay, is to further my understanding of the altar
table in Tibet which includes the importance of the material, symbolism and iconography, its main
purpose and function, and background in the culture. I will start with my original analysis of the
piece and add in my research to the following paragraphs. When I first walked into the room
where this piece was exhibited I was immediately drawn to its ornate details and rather bright
colors compared to the other objects that were displayed next to this one. The worn primary colors
contrasted with the browns of the

9. Water Mifflin Hall, Well Water Wyckoff And Stream Water...
The data from the TDS analysis (table 2) show that tap water Mifflin hall, well water Wyckoff
and stream water Raleigh has a higher amount of total dissolved solid compared to tap water
Harleysville and Tap water Yosemite that have a low amount of total dissolved solid. From these
observations, we can conclude that tap water Harleysville and tap water are softer than Yosemite
tap water Mifflin Hall, well water Wyckoff and streamWater Raleigh. The Results from ETDA
(table 7) show that tap water Mifflin Hall (400 ppm) is hardest than the four other water
samples. It is followed by tap water Harleysville (340 ppm), well Water Wyckoff (320 ppm),
Stream Water Raleigh (110 ppm) and Tap water Yosemite (80 ppm). This order supports my
hypothesis. Tap water Yosemite is relatively soft compared to the other water samples. I have
predicted my sample to be the hardnessand tap water Yosemite to be the softest. Also, these results
support my hypothesis in the assumption that they show that stream water Raleigh is moderately
hard as expected. Nevertheless, I expected tap water Yosemite to be relatively soft but the data
show that it is moderately hard. In fact, I assumed that tap water Yosemite would be slightly hard
because in California ground water is stored in alluvium. They are made up of loose gravel, sands,
and silts and they contain a very low concentrationof divalent cations. Maybe the fact that rocks
vary from the state of California due to the difference in geology might

10. Minor Characters In Hamlet
Many times, minor characters go overlooked, their persona is goes undiscovered and their impact
on plot and character development is greatly under appreciated. It is crucial for readers to explore
the identity of minor characters and what kind of impact they have on character development,
especially in William Shakespeare s Hamlet. The minor characters play a key role in character
development for the main characters. Rosencrantz and Guildensternoffer Hamlet a chance to
display not only his kindness and ability to sense something is wrong, but as well as his
ruthlessness when people attempt to cross his path. The relationship that Hamlet and Horatio share
on the other hand, is pure loyalty and trust. We see Hamlet s intellect come out once he is around
Horatio, and where Horatio is just as much as an intellectual as Hamlet, he his not as ignorant as
Hamlet. Polonius is not nearly as intelligent as Hamlet, which Hamlet uses to create comic relief,
making Polonius the butt of his joke. And finally, Ophelia. Ophelia is submissive and allows us to
see how Hamlet would act with his perfect mistress and how Polonius would treat his dutiful

discuss how the certitude of the death penalty tends to be more formidable than imprisonment. Van
den Haag also explains that even though the death penalty may not deter hundreds of murderers, is

more important than preserving the lives of convicted murderers because of the possibility, or even
the probability, that executing them would not deter others (van den Haag 1666). On the other
hand, Greenberg, Reiman, and Gray argue against deterrence and how it is not a leading factor for
justifying the administration the death penalty. Because of the goals that our criminal justice
system must satisfy deterring crime, punishing the guilty, acquitting the innocent, avoiding needless
cruelty, treating citizens equally, and prohibiting oppression by the state America simply does not

self, and of course his unique brilliance. Once again, Aldous Huxley teaches a valuable lesson: the
enabling power derived from literacy. Instead of just instructing our students (or more suitably

then they can unmask their natural curiosity and creativity. This solution is not derived solely on
prediction, but through a funnel of subdivisions from education to literacy to book distribution.
Each layer of complexity further narrows down to simple solution for a fundamental problem: the
ever growing issue of education rights. The right to a proper education proves elusive when of all

Raccoons are inquisitive and intelligent creatures, sometimes they are too inquisitive and

Electric fences are the better choice when it comes to raccoons especially for small areas around a
pond or a garden. These are harmless, effective and relatively cheap.
Trapping
Trapping a raccoon is another option that is available to you, however it requires a lot of
patience and it may not work. Set the traps in an area that the raccoons frequent, but make sure
that you clean the trap thoroughly and set it with latex gloves on; otherwise the raccoons will
smell your scent and not go near the trap. Bait the trap and disguise it under some branches and
leaves. Relocate the raccoon once you have trapped it in a wooded area that is at least 10 miles
from you or your nearest neighbor. As already stated, raccoons are incredibly smart and there is no
guarantee that it will work.

Reading comprehension strategies. Throughout the history of reading education, there has been
extensive research on phonological awareness and phonics. More recently, educational theorists

story that add curiosity to one?s mind when first reading about one. The feeling one may get is to

Joining the circle of so said responsible adults has always been a hard task for teenagers
throughout the ages. In ancient times, it was a test of strength and adaptability. Can you survive

have what it takes to take care of your man? To raise his children and to make sure they also
became responsible adults? What about today? Is it the same? No not at all. So, what s today s
modern test? Well, it s very simple. There is none. As you graduate school, or drop out by your
own choice, you will automatically be regarded as an adult and act like one. If you don t, well,
you ll be cursed and back talked about for being irresponsible, a trash, a degenerate of society and

propertywhich it owned on the transaction date, the annual limitation would be increased for that
year by the amount necessary to shelter the portion of its net unrealized built in gain attributable to

In the story Brave New World by Aldous Huxley and The Ones Who Walk Away from

Huxley s and Le Guin s characters have minds that readers can t understand or comprehend their
intentions. Even though their stories were written during two different time periods, you can still
see how they use optimism to create their literature. By applying a psychoanalytical criticism,
readers can compare the characters in Brave New Worldand The Ones Who Walk Away From
Omelas and see how they express their fears and emotions, how they reflect on themselves, and
how they act or don t act on their desires.
Expressing feeling is a way that Huxley s and Le Guin s stories are compared to show how
emotions give their characters human emotions to express their differences from other characters.
Huxley s book Brave New World has many characters that express many emotions, but one
character named John the savage, a character who had it harder than anyone in the book.
Huxley s writes John the savage as a character that is scared to show his emotions, battles to keep
lust and love separate, to understand what his personal feelings are. Bound by strong vows that

Interacting and talking with the woman about her eye brought to my attention that anything can
happen at any time, not matter how healthy one may seem. I also learned that it is principal to not
dwell on the negative attributes that may have happened in life but to cherish every moment.
From this interaction, I feel as if my communication skills have changed in a positive way.
Although I still have improvements to achieve in the communication aspect of this course, I am
becoming more open and willing to talk to different people. Furthermore, I am learning how to
converse with people about their problems in an appropriate way, which has to do with my ability

I am analyzing a poem by E. E. Cummings called nobody loses all the time . I think on the
surface this is just a poem about a pretty unfortunate, average guy with not the best luck, but
there are a lot of hidden messages in the poem. For example, the main character is Uncle Sol.
The word sol means sun, which is clearly an important symbol. Though Uncle Sol s farm / failed
because the chickens / ate the vegetables (16 18), Uncle Sol was not viewed as a failure through
the chickens eyes. His farm wasn t a complete failure because at least it was of use to someone. It
was only a failure in the eyes of business success oriented humans. This is the same situation with
the skunks the chickens may have died, but they went to good use because

34. Analysis Of Jack Londons For Build A Fire And His Wise...
In Jack Londons To Build A Fire, a stubborn man with no imagination and his wise dog set out on
the Yukon trail seeking out his camp in hopes to return and meet up with the boys. Being a
chechaquo, a new comer to the land (Dictionary.com, 2015), this was his first Winter. It was a
clear day and yet there seemed an intangible pall over the face of things, a subtle gloom that made
the day dark, and that was due to the absence of sun. The face did not worry the man. (London,
629). The newcomer was entering Winter temperatures in which he knew nothing of, reaching
seventy five degrees below zero and would soon be in a battle of man verses nature. But all this the
mysterious, far reaching hair line trail, the absence of sun from the sky, the tremendous cold, and
the strangeness and weirdness of it all made impression on the man. (London, 629). As the man
travels on through the freezingtemperatures he is remind of advice from and old wise man, he
had been warned of traveling alone and the dangers that could come with someone making such
decisions. The traveler was hopeful of making it back to camp by six o clock, and an hour into his
travels he is ready to stop and eat his lunch with pride in his traveling progress. However, an hour
into his travels the arrogant man was more concerned with chewing his tobacco, than thinking of
potential dangers despite his warnings, so he stopped for lunch, never sharing with his only
traveling companion, his loyal dog.

Likewise, in initiation ceremonies, boys are circumcised as well as subincised, and the first
ceremonies of initiation, with the use of #8216;bullroarers #8217;, are intended to make them
independent (and separated) from their mothers and other females. Subincision, from the view
of the Arunda tribe, was designed to cause the male organ to resemble the vulva, and that the
effusion of blood was regarded as serving the same function as menstruation, which in the female
enabled her naturally to dispose of the evil that accumulate in the body. To continue the same
effect, males periodically engage in incision of the penis and called it menstruation. Marriage
arrangements were made when the children were very young and even before they were born.
Girls were usually married (through a handing over ceremony) when she was about 11 or 12
years old when she reached puberty. Most marriages took place at a particular place. For
example, in the Shoalhaven region, Coolangatta Mountain was a traditional marriage place or
site. It would have been significant because particular ancestors married there (according to a
Dreamtime story or stones), and because of tradition of thousands of couples marrying over time.
For marriage purposes, every tribe was divided into four main groups, sometimes called marriage
moieties. When each child was born, he or she was given a totemic name according to which group

36. Women And Female Characters In Homer s Medea
Another of Greco Roman mythology s strongest and most prominent female characters is
Medea. Throughout her different iterations, Medea is shown to be closely associated with the
female ability to give and withhold life. First of all, she was a disciple of Hecate who, aside
from being the goddess of the moon, witchcraft, and crossroads (Brooks, Lesson 12: Perseus and
Demeter), is described in Hesiod s Theogony as a nurse of the young (455) and having the ability
to increase[e] stock in a pen [...] if she wills in her heart she can multiply them or make them
diminish (446 449). Consistent with Hecate s abilities, Medeas plot against Pelias, described in
Ovid s Metamorphoses, revolves around her ability to give life by return[ing] the vigor and
bloom of youth (7.215). Additionally, in Euripides Medea, she tells King Aigeus that she will
put an end to [his] childlessness (716) and help him beget heirs of [his] blood (717) in order to
ensure that Athens will grant her asylum after executing her revenge on Jason (679 758).
Overall, Medea is shown to be a woman with great control over life. However, she does not only
grant it, she also exercises her ability to take it away. Medea kills her own children as a part of
her plan to take revenge on Jason, stating that if die they must, I shall slay them, who gave them
birth (Euripides 63). She also kills Creon s daughter, stating that never shall [Jason] beget children
by his new bride (Euripides, Medea 803 804), which results in a complete loss of all his current
and potential heirs. Ultimately, the play ends with Medea escaping without punishment for her
actions, and this fact seems to affirm a mother s rights over the life they have given. A similar
situation can be found in Ovid s Metamorphoses, where Procne kills her son and serves him to her
husband, Tereus, for dinner as retribution for the rape and mutilation of her sister (6.620 674). It is
a particularly fitting punishment as it violates Tereus body in a similar manner, by forcing him to
contain something unwanted, and allows Procne and Philomela to retake the control that was
stolen from them. Not only do both mothers kill their children the one thing they have an inherent
right to control

North American Free Trade Agreement
During the most recent race for the White House we heard very little of substance from both

cost the United States hundreds of thousands of jobs and another distanced herself from free trade
agreements all together. It has been over twenty years since the implementation of the North
American Free Trade Agreementand many have criticized it as a bad deal for the U.S. It can be

in the Americas.
The North American Free Trade Agreement is a concord between the United States, Canada, and

The stock market fell which made the people who were invested in it lose their money as well as
the banks that people were invested in. This caused companies and factories to close which
many people were employed at. The current president at that time thought that it wasn t the
government s problem to deal with the poor. However, the governor of New York at that time

One of my favorite parts about this museum was how we got to see all the different immigrants

Some of these abilities are public speaking skills ( Traits and Skills ), it is important to have
public speaking skills because they are necessary for life. People always talk about being shy
and that makes it harder to get jobs and to work with other people. Also while working with
other people you have to act with maturity and discretions in sensitive issues ( Traits and Skills ).
This is very important while working with people, bands, and artist because if you are not

confusing why a music producer has to be a politician, but it is important to know this because
politicians represent a race or candidate and that is in a way what music producers are. They

At the turn of the century, most men began wearing the traditional middle class men s suit that
originated in England, as opposed to the more decadent knee length frock coats and complex suits
of the 1800 s. Most suits in the early 1900 s consisted of three pieces: the jacket, the trousers, and
the vest (known as a waistcoat at the time). Men wore morning coats during the day, which
typically were just jackets with a tailcoat that is cut away on a curving line from the front to the
back, and often paired them with matching or subtly striped trousers. Additionally, men had evening
suits in darker colors and richer fabrics. Like women, affluent men of this era would change
clothes several times a day as propriety dictated. In the 1910 s, lighter fabrics and simpler suit
separates grew in popularity, and by the latter half of the 1910 s, a man s daytime suit consisted of

and navy of the previous decade. Shoulderpads disappeared, and men began wearing tighter
fitting jackets with sloping shoulders. Ties became more casual as silks were replaced with a
variety of knits. Bow ties became quite in during the 1920 s, too. By the mid 20 s, new button
down shirts with attached collars and softer fabrics were introduced and made the norm. The white
striped shirts of the previous decade were replaced with an explosion of

52. The Wanderer Vs. The Seafarer
In the Anglo Saxon story The Wanderer the exile is self inflicted due to the narrator trying to
find a new lord. Similar to the story The Seafarer , the narrator states how lonely he is and how
cold he is. The narrator exiles himself after all his kinsmen and lord are killed most likely during
a fight or battle. The exile is very hard for the narrator because he is all alone. The separation
from his kinsmen is the worst he has ever felt and he does not have anyone else to rely on during
his journey looking for a new lord. The difference between The Wandererand The Seafarer is that
the narrator in The Wandererdid not choose his exile like the narrator in The Seafarer.

53. Review Of Current And Overlooked Organizational Resources
Review of current and anticipated organizational resources The University is a state institution that
receives a portion of its funding from the State of Missouri. Over time, funding from the state has
decreased. This year alone, Southeast is facing a budget cut in excess of 4 million dollars. With that
said, Southeast Online is completely self funded. Students who take an online class are charged an
online course fee. Additionally, students who are enrolled in an online degree program, pay an
online tuition rate. Southeast Online is funded through a portion of these fees. While budget cuts
are substantial overall, their direct impact on Southeast Online has been related to challenges with
adding additional staff due to hiring... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allen Gathman who served as the Dean of Online Learning. His position wasn t filled, instead his
duties were re distributed. A new position was created for an Associate Provost for Academic
Effectiveness and Student Success, Dr. Bethany Alden Rivers filled that role. Southeast Online
now reports to her. The Director of the RN BSN program also retired and a new Director, Desma
Reno was installed. The effect to the overall culture of the university remains to be seen. However,
President Vargas appears to understand the complex needs of the online environment and is in full
support of the growth of programs. While Dr. Vargas is in full support, the current culture makes
growth in online program difficult as customer service is an important part of recruiting and
retaining students in the online environment. Customer Service isn t the primary focus of the
campus culture, so much so that the term Southeast Shuffle was coined to describe how
departments will shuffle students between departments instead of assisting them. Arguments can be
made that higher education isn t in the customer service business, but in online where degrees can
be commoditized to an extent, it is an important factor. Providing customer service doesn t mean
you have to sacrifice academic integrity. It remains to be seen how the changes in upper
management will affect the culture. The majority of campus is focused on retaining

54. Conservation Science Vs Special Education Research Paper
Special Education vs. Conservation Science Facing the realities of becoming and adult can be
difficult for many people. Getting older comes with responsibilities like living away from home
and paying bills. One of the hardest parts of growing up is finding a job. Choosing the right job
can be tricky for many people who are new to the adult world. With lots of choices of careers to go
into, two stand out to me: special educationand conservation science. Special educationis a fairly
new part of the public school system. Promotion for it started in the early 1900 s; parents came
together to form groups to show the public that children with disabilities have educational needs
too. Eventually these groups became noticed. In 1961, John F. Kennedy... Show more content on

Once I go to college I might find a new career that I would want to further my education to
become. As of now though, I would love to become either a special education teacher or a
conservationist; I will not be able to do both. Both are careers that meet different interests of mine.
However, I think that I will be able to reach a compromise of both of them. I am able to do things
for the environment by myself and not as a job like recycling and reducing the amount of water I
use. With this being said, I can be a special education teacher and still have to ability to be a
conservationist on my own

55. Single Sex School
Why Single Sex School?
Single sex schools are the best way of education and vital for our children in order for them to be
taught in an environment that is away from distractions and to be more successful, focused and
emotionally stable. There are several reasons which shows that single sex schools are important
and why it s the best way for good education.
The first reason is that boys and girls are not equal and develop at different times and speeds;
therefore they should be taught separately. Acording to Gilbert (2007), Aacademic planners and
school superintendents in the 1960 s had this foundamental assumption; they used to think that
separate means unequal, so fearing that they would be unfair, provoking inequality and sexual ...

The second reason why single sex schools are the way to go is that boys and girls distract each
other from their education, especially in adolescence as their sexual and emotional sides develop.
They spend too much time trying to impress or sexually harassing each other especially boys
toward girls. Academic competition between the sexes is unhealthy and only adds to the
unhappiness and anxiety among weaker students. As Trichia Kelleher, a school principle, argues
rather than girls defining themselves by their interests, they define themselves by what the boys
think of them or what other girls think boys think of them . Furthermore, John Silber (2002),
President of Boston University, declared that his university would prioritize male applications in
order to even up the student composition and ensure the male population did not become
ungentlemanly towards women due to their numerical inferiority. John as a preident of Boston saw
how females can be a sexual distraction towarad males in class rooms and tried to slove that by
admitting more males to the university. A single sex environment is therefore a space where
(children) can learn without feeling pressurized by the other sex.
As odd it may sound, some people argues that children need to be exposed to the opposite sex in
preparation for later life; this fact should be further evaluated and analysed logically. Nobody in
this world comes without parents, and as children we can get
