Paradox Of Thomas Gray
Literature past and present is often a reflection of desire and intimacy, one s most inner thoughts
feelings. A writers thoughts spilling onto the page, a cleanse of sorts. While other times it may be a
commentary on society or a satire to highlight the numerous ills within a community of culture and so
in many ways nothing has to remain unwritten, nothing can remain untouched by an authors hand, and
yet even with seemingly all reaching grasp an author has when producing literature, there are however
things that simply cannot be said the every looming unsayable that dictates that which must be left
untouched, a paradox. But the question is not only what the unsayable is in context of time place,
gender, and cultural influence, but what the accumulative role of the unsayable is within literature; this
then leads to a discussion as to its role as a literary device.
Thinking in paradoxes, poetry is both one of the most constrained, yet free forms of literature and a
poet who particularly demonstrates the both as one and thus exploring the role of the unsayable is
Thomas Gray. Gray s poetic style is often very much conforming to certain styles, especially in his
sonnet [on the death of Richard West] , whereby he adheres to the common 14 lines that the sonnet
form requires, while simultaneously having a rather scattered rhyme scheme of a,b,c,d. A,b,a,b.
E,f,g,h, with the final couplet being g,h. The fact that the two are on opposing scales demonstrates

General Anxiety Disorder
General anxiety disorder (GAD) is a prevalent, debilitating disorder recognized by the DSM 5. Some
of the symptoms that are associated with GAD are restlessness/ feeling keyed up, being easily
fatigues, difficulty concentrating/ having a blank mind, irritability, muscle tension, and disturbed
sleep. Excessive anxiety, the most common mental health problem experienced in average youth,
causes individual distress and functional impairment throughout children s lives (Gross Hen, 2004).
Anxiety is also a mental status that is elicited in anticipation of threat of some kind. Sensations of
anxiety are a normal part of human experiences, but excessive or inappropriate anxiety can become an
illness. High levels of anxiety can be accompanied by a set of behavioral and physiological responses
including avoidance, vigilance and arousal from a stimuli or stimulus. Children and adolescence of
both genders usually experience anxiety symptoms at different levels of intensity that frequently
afflicts their everyday life. Anxiety has been treated with drug therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy
(CBT), relaxation training and even systematic desensitization. To diagnose general anxiety disorder,
one would look for many presenting symptoms, characteristics, and treatments.
The DSM 5 has been changed many times in the past, dating back to 18th century. During the 18th
century, anxiety was mostly perceived as physical symptoms that produced anxiety profiles as a result
of underlying

large and massive demands of oil (Iron Mountain, 2016). However, the above challenges can be
addressed in the following ways: Pipelines used in the transportation of crude oil should be correctly
placed (Iron Mountain, 2016). This requires good planning to be done by the local authorities to
ensure that the pipelines are set up well. For instance, pipelines should not be closely located to the
areas where people reside or carry out their daily activities because explosions are likely to occur any
time. The health of the public is the most important when it comes to safety in a company. The name

There should, therefore, be a way of letting specific responders to be aware of the train schedules and
routes. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is developed for the emergence of
responders providing access to data relating to the train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives
the responders a chance to know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any
victim of the incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures that
have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil transportation. New rules
should be introduced for the use of trains in oil transportation. There has been debate over new rules
of transporting oil via the railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will
stop hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to challenge the
new rules. However, the safety administration denies these calls since their aim is to reduce incidents
in the railroad during transportation of oil. This has increased concern about the transportation of oil
over the railroad (Stevens, 2015). Once the railroad has been implemented in this company, new rules
that are strict have to be set before the trains are used. Appendix

Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Essay
John Boyne has created a sophisticated and meaningful novel in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas
through his thematic analysis of power which explores society s perception of authority; his symbolic
representation of the fence which starkly exposes Bruno s ignorance of cultural divisions; and finally,
his characterisation of Mother revealing the fraught atmosphere during the Holocaust. The theme of
power is explored in this novel through authoritative figures and their presentation in society. The
character of Father displays his newfound sovereignty with ostentatiousness, and Bruno observes this
closely. He notes how Father s actions often lead to an instantaneous response, stating, Father held a
hand in the air, which immediately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His innocence is so innate that he remarks to Gretel, I don t understand why we re not allowed on the
other side of it. What s so wrong with us that we can t go over there and play? Bruno s innocent
perspective contrasts with the cruelty occurring, questioning its value in a time when it was widely
accepted. Just as Bruno does not see the fence as a reason for segregation, so too are readers inspired
to eradicate the fences of prejudice wherever they exist in society today. The reflection this calls
readers to undertake produces a profundity and sophistication in the novel. The language used to
convey Bruno s misunderstanding of the fence s symbolism is simplistic. This literary technique,
employed by Boyne, assists in portraying the naivety of Bruno. Bruno s enquiry of What s so wrong
with us that we can t go over there and play? demonstrates how his juvenility shapes his view of the
world, and allows his friendship with Shmuel to flourish despite their division. Shmuel s concession
that they were all exactly the same really illustrates this fact. The boys exemplar of friendship
provided by their childish perspective encourages the audience to accept everyone, contributing to the
insightfulness of the book; and in this way, its meaning and sophistication. The characterisation of

Electron Affinity And Ionization Energy
Recently in class we have discovered the meaning of electron affinity and ionization energy. We know
that ionization energy is the energy required to be absorbed when an ionic bond removes an electron
from an atom. We also know that electron affinity is how easily an atom will accept an electron into its
shells when trying to make itself neutral. This means that both of these terms play a big role when an
atom loses or gains an electron.
The ionization energy is the energy to remove an electron from an atom. A trend for ionization energy
is that it generally increases left to right across a row on the periodic table except for the noble gases
which have closed shells. For example, lithium requires only 520 kJ/mol to ionize it while helium, the
noble gas right next to it in the periodic table, requires 2372 kJ/mol. The ionization energy can be
thought of as opposite to the electronegativity of an element in the way that a low ionization energy
gives away that an element easily loses electrons to a reaction, while a high electronegativity shows
that an element strongly wants to have electrons in a reaction.
The electron affinity is an amount of energy that changes when ... Show more content on

Electron affinity, on the other hand, describes the energy that is released when an electron binds to an
atom. This tells us that since energy is released, the electron affinities will be negative. Another
example of the differences between electron affinity and ionization energy is that ionization energy is
related with making cations from neutral atoms due to the fact that it measures the amount of energy
needed to remove an electron. In contrast, electron affinity is related with making anions due to the
fact that it is the amount of energy that changes when a negative ion is formed from an electron being
added. These are two big example of how electron affinity and ionization energy are

The Disadvantages Faced by Catholics in Northern Ireland...
The Disadvantages Faced by Catholics in Northern Ireland in the Mid 1960 s
Since the partition of 1921 the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland had been unable to live
on equal terms together. The North became Northern Ireland and the south the Republic of Ireland. It
was not really an event, for decades Britain had resisted Home rule but by 1919 the attitudes were
altering. A majority of Northern Ireland were Protestants, the Catholics only made up 33% of the
population, and the 66% left were Protestants. The Protestants wanted to remain a part of Britain but
the Catholics wanted to become independent and separate form Ireland. This abhorrence between
Catholics and Protestants resulted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then possibly the most important election was the Council Election where you could only vote if your
property was worth over £10(most Catholics didn t have that money) or if you were a tenant of a
public authority houses you were allowed to vote but 2/3 of Protestants lived in these public authority
houses or if you owned a business or a company you were entitled to a second vote but most
companies were owned by Protestants. This was important because any Catholic representing party
would have some power in the Stormont Election and the General Elections, which would mean
Catholics, had some say in the way the area was run. Because the Council Elections were so important
the government used a deceiving tactic called Gerrymandering. When there were more Catholics than
Protestants in one council election area, the government would move the borders so that the
Protestants would be elected because they would then outnumber the Catholics. We can see that this
happened in Londonderry (Derry) where there was 36,049 Catholics and only 17,695 Protestants.
After the voting regulations had been applied 14,325 Catholics were entitled to a vote against only
9,235 Protestants. From the numbers given it should have been the Catholics who won control but
because of the moving borders the Protestants got into power in that area and most other areas.

Essay On Game Theory
Game Theory was devised in the 1950 s and slowly grew into the field of biology and today it is even
used in computers and is one of the most important tool in every field. Game Theory is a
psychological theory which usually applies to social conditions, which affect the behavioral and
decision making of an individual. This theory is vast and deals with how a group reacts and interact.
This theory is used in mostly all major fields such as business, biology, science, logic, computer etc.
A number of laws and theories are used to support the game theory such as zero sum games where one
individual gains exactly equal gains exactly equal net losses of other individuals. Probability is one of

They can study their strategies and decisions they make to buy and sell products , how they engage
during transactions and what outcomes that result in the end.
Game theory has three main branches: The mechanism design theory, the general equilibrium theory
and the decision theory.
The Mechanism design theory gives analysts flexibility, as it lowers the restrictions on variables. This
theory shows the consequences of different regulations and guidelines and how groups of people can
take advantages when using certain strategy in different situations. We can look at the examples on
auctions where sellers can identify the risks and avoid them completely.
The General equilibrium theory lays down general guidelines to set up rules and restrictions looking at
the behavior of people. It is broadly used in economics such as in making tax policies, voting, which
intensives to apply and to interpret stock exchanges.
The Decision theory is a game generally used for a single person. It brings the possible outcomes of
the choices of a person where high risks equals maximum profits and low risk equals low profits.
Probability and bayer laws are generally used for the decision

Alice, Food, And Inner Desires
Alice, Food, and Inner Desires Lewis Carroll s whimsical journey into Wonderland has created a
fantasy worlds full of mystery and depth. In this essay I will discuss the links between the
consumption of food and the underlying desires behind consuming. In this essay I will argue that food
is used as a transformative device to enable Alice to voluntarily explore and involuntarily supress her
inner desires. Within the Lewis Carroll texts, Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the
Looking Glass and What Alice found there, Alice experiences two very different encounters with food.
Alice s Adventures in Wonderland delves into the idea of eating or drinking for pleasure. In contrast,

There are close links between Alice s change in size and the gain of power. According to Nicholson,
consuming food is the material means of growth, where growth may be defined as gaining power (39).
This translates to the idea that Alice has power over her surroundings, she desires to be omnipotent
and break free of her inhibitions. Nicholson also explains that What is killed does not die voluntarily.
Therefore the creatures man eats must be weaker than he is (39). Alice supports this idea when she
consumes the cake labelled EAT ME (Carroll 12). Not only does Alice consume the cake, but she does
so to gain the power to transform so that she may carry on with her pursuit of the garden. Alice s
consumption of food in Wonderland not only represents her need for power but also her need to fulfill
internal desires. According to Garland, Alice s attitude toward food...contrib[utes] to an understanding
of the representations of sexuality and subjectivity in Wonderland (25). This is reflected in Alice s
quick desire s to eat and drink in the first scene, despite the fact that she does not have any physical
hunger. Garland also notes that, the relationship Carroll presents between sexual females, desire, fear,
and death is contrasted strongly with female children, innocence, joy, and life (27). This suggests that

Research Paper On Hypnosis
A common question is, what is hypnosis and how does it work? According to the American
Psychology Association hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to
individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds (American
Psychology Association, 2016). Hypnosis is called hypnotherapy and hypnotic suggestion. James
Braid, a 19th century Scottish surgeon originated those terms based on the word hypnos, which is
Greek for to sleep (Harris, 2016).
When the person is hypnotized they feel calm and relaxed. The therapist using verbal repetition makes
them more open to suggestions. The individual being hypnotized is conscious but is able to ignore the
most of everything going on around them. When being hypnotized the person excludes all other
thoughts.

hypnosis. The most common one is that the person loses their will and that they are completely under
the command of the therapist. This idea was formed because many stage hypnotist use it. However, it
is far from the truth. During the hypnosis you are in control of yourself. There are two theories on why
hypnosis works. One of those is dissociation, and the other is a kind of role playing (Bjork, 2009

The Main Difference Between Opera And Musical Theatre
When imagining opera one cannot help but picture the iconic pigtailed woman wearing the horned
helmet and holding a spear. This image certainly is an element of opera (Bloom) yet the discipline
holds much more. Since its origins in sixteenth century Italy (Parker) opera has been fundamental to
the performing arts. By understanding its rich history as well as its contemporary trends arts
administrators may continue to present this beloved art form to their audiences.
The word opera, in its modern sense as a composition in which poetry, dance, and music are combined
, was first used in 1639. Shortly following was the earliest documented English usage in 1648 ( Opera
). What is the major difference between opera and musical theatre? A famous composer named
Stephen Sondheim has said that It s about the expectation of the audience. When it s on Broadway,
people expect mediocre singing and good acting; when it s in an opera house, people expect mediocre
acting and good singing (qtd. In Leigh)
The first composition called an opera was Dafne by Jacopo Peri and it was created around 1597. The
composer was inspirited by Florentine humanists who were elite at that time. It is noteworthy that
Dafne was trying to recreate the Greek drama, which is kind of recreating the characteristic of the
Renaissance in a broader view (Parker).
There are four main periods of opera history. In the Baroque period (1590 1750), there were two
dominated composers named Jacopo Peri and Claudio

Lab Report Catalase And Hydrogen Peroxide
In this lab we used catalase (enzyme), and this enzyme was a catalyst used to breakdown the hydrogen
peroxide. An enzyme will bind with a substrate, then form an enzyme substrate complex, and then the
new products then leave the enzyme. The enzyme binds with the substrate in the active site. The active
site is where enzymes act. Enzymes do not undergo permeant changes during the reaction, (ch302).
The catalyst is not part of the reactant, instead it is added to the reactant to speed up the reaction. The
catalyst overall will lower the activation energy for the reaction. This is because the enzyme changes
the way the reaction happens, (Enzyme and...). In our lab the enzyme sped up the breakdown of the

Liberalism in Canadian Government Essay
Liberalism is the best ideology for Canada s government and is a good combination of both Socialism
and Conservatism. Liberalism takes the finer parts from both ideologies to create a better form of
government. Canadians now have a choice in which ideology they like better by this compromised
form of government. The centre of the spectrum and the equilibrium of government and individual
ownership is the definition of Liberalism.
A good example of why Liberalism is the number one choice from most Canadians is public and
privatized hospitals. Right now, Canada only has public hospitals that are free for everybody in need

Or they won t have to spend tons of money on private doctors. Instead, Canadians would have a
choice and freedom to choose whichever ideology objective they prefer.
This reason why we get such low and competitive prices on goods is due to the fact that we have less
government control on what kinds of shoes to wear, colour car to drive, etc. This is a mostly
Conservationist, who agree that their should be individual ownership on things. The problem with this
is, as sad as it is to say, people need to be given some direction because people make mistakes. With
this is in play, limits can be made to how low prices go or how you can t sell certain items. Liberalism
is exactly this and is already being implemented throughout Canada. I find no problems with the way
Canada s economy is running now, so why change it?
People are not equal. The whole idea of trying out for a team or getting a scholarship is what makes us
human. Humans are naturally competitive and strive to become better at whatever it is they enjoy.
Everybody is different, they can be smarter, stronger, faster, etc. Therefore I believe that people with
smarter, more complex jobs, should deserve more money. People who do not apply themselves should
earn less money. Again though, it comes down to choices. Unions were created in Canada for the
socialist point of view, where every worker in a union get roughly the same pay and are treated fairly.

The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book Essay
The Scientific Revolutions and Copernicus Book
In the sixteenth and seventeenth century a Scientific Revolution swept over Europe. The start of this
Scientific Revolution has been atributed to Nicolaus Copernicus and his Heliocentric Model of the
Universe.
Copernicus was born in Torun Poland on February 19, 1473. His parents both died when he was very
young so he was sent to live with his uncle who was a high ranking official in the Church. Copernicus
studied canon law, medicine, astronomy, Greek, philosophy, and mathematics. His diversified fields of

The Church felt that the earth as the center of the universe showed the special place that man had in
the eyes of God. The Church believed that this model was divine and therefore any criticism on the
Ptolmaic model coud be viewed as direct criticism on God. As a result of the Church s strong view
many scientists were scared from disagreeing with it for fear of being labled as a heretic and possibly
being excommunicated. Copernicus feared the Church so much that he left Italy and returned to
Poland so that he could continue his work without fear of persecution. No one seriously dismissed the
Ptolemaic theory of the universe until 1616 when Galileo began to teach the Heliocentric Model of the
Universe. Galileo proved Copernicus s theory to his students by showing them the planets through the
use of telescopes. The Ptolemaic Model of the Universe stated that the Earth was at the center of the
universe, the planets, stars rotated around the Earth in a perfect uniform circular motion, and that all of
the objects in the Heavens were made of perfect material that could not change.
Nicolaus Copernicus was not the first person to develop the theory of a sun centered universe.

theory is very similar to the Ptolemic model of the universe. The major difference is that the sun not

American Apparel Essay
VI. Implementation Plan It is clear that American Apparel has a problem that is largely caused by their
controversial advertising materials and the poor reputation of their CEO, Dov Charney. We believe
that this can be repaired by assigning someone new to be in charge of the company s marketing efforts
and refocusing their advertising strategy to be a more wholesome reflection of their company mission.
Charney can, of course, continue to be in charge of the rest of the company as many of his other
practices such as his pro labour stance (Schuette et al., 2012) are well regarded and respected. For the
good of the company, American Apparel s very first step should be to find and hire a new marketing

professional could be an internal hire from within the company or an external hire such as a

Prisons need to put forth the effort to resolve these issues and make America s streets secure again.
The criminal justice system in prisons is a rising concern in this country that is affecting many and it is
time it was improved by reforming the inside of prisons, providing prisoners with more when released,
and keeping them under surveillance after release to help ensure they will not return to prison, thus
keeping crime at a lower rate.

Punishments are no longer as cruel, the death penalty has been lifted in multiple states, and prisoners
are being treated in a more equal manner, but the system should continue to be improved even more to
accomplish what needs to be done in order to make the streets safer. Crime has changed from what it
once was in the past. Rates have gone up and people appear to be behaving in a more difficult manner.
The government cannot afford to continue treating prisoners the way they once did in the past. Reform
is not just for the prisoners. Reform is for the people in the communities of America. But there appears
to be a few setbacks when it comes to reform, and one of those setbacks is cost. Though according to
Gary C. Mohr, Criminal justice systems can be people oriented, evidence based and cost effective
while remaining focused on the safety and well being of those living in the different communities.
Therefore, cost should not be an excuse as to why the system cannot be reformed, especially when it
comes to public safety. In fact, there should be no excuses when it comes to public safety. Prisons

Examples Of Social Classes In The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Introduction Our society is divided into two parts one is Rich people and other one is Poor people.
There is a huge difference between poor people and rich people but in this novel apart from their
differences there are some similarities between rich and poor people. Their fear against the curse and
murder history of three people in same house by some supernatural power. Everyone is different from

The Housing Crisis Of 2008
During the early 2000 s, the United States housing market experienced growth at an unprecedented
rate, leading to historical highs in home ownership. This surge in home buying was the result of
multiple illusory financial circumstances which reduced the apparent risk of both lending and
receiving loans. However, in 2007, when the upward trend in home values could no longer continue
and began to reverse itself, homeowners found themselves owing more than the value of their
properties, a trend which lent itself to increased defaults and foreclosures, further reducing the value
of homes in a vicious, self perpetuating cycle. The 2008 crash of the near $7 billion housing industry
dragged down the entire U.S. economy, and by extension, the global economy, with it, therefore
having a large part in triggering the global recession of 2008 2012.
Contributing Factors
The housing crisis of 2008 can trace its origins back to the stock market trends of the mid to late 90 s.
During a period of extended growth in the stock market, increased individual wealth among investors
led to generalized increases in spending, including in the housing market. With more disposable
income in the pockets of consumers, the demand for housing increased in the late 90 s. Due to the fact
that homes are large projects and their construction takes a large amount of time, the supply of homes
in the market is inelastic on the short term. Because of the fixed supply of homes, as per the law of
supply, which

between 1999 and 2010, over 8,300 people in the United States were reported dead from unintentional
shootings, including 2,383 children and young adults that aged from zero to twenty one. There have
been several cases of kids mistaking a handgun for a toy only because it was left in the open and
within reach of a child. The average citizen should not be allowed to have handguns in their homes

Silence In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston And The Mother
Language is not always sufficient for telling stories, especially difficult narratives. The most difficult
stories are those that force characters into situations with no desirable outcomes. The short story
Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston and the poem the mother by Gwendolyn Brooks deal with vastly
different topics, but share the difficulty of narrating women s stories. Hurston and Brooks also share
similar views on the use of silence in writing, its use and effect. These texts define silencing broadly,
such as not expressing an opinion about an action, denying a character a voice, or even the absence of
new language. While Sweat and the mother agree that silencing usually amplifies women s stories
better than language, Hurston takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The syntax of the punctuation also creates pauses. Pausing forces reflection: each space of not
speaking allows for the processing of the emotions Brooks presents. By pausing and thinking, the
emotions can become personal rather than the emotions of the speaker. Silence through repetition thus
allows traumatic stories and the related emotions to present themselves in full via reflection. Similarly,
Sweat repeats the final words of the story to allow a better grasp on Delia s experiences, and mainly
achieves this through the investigation of what the text does not say. After Delia sees Sykes s swollen
eye and neck, she leaves the house. She sits outside in the heat while inside she knew the cold river
was creeping up and up to extinguish that eye which must know by now that she knew (9). The
repetition of knowledge pervades. Like in the mother, pauses occur here, too, but for a different
reason. The phrases he knew, she knew, and [the eye] knows cause pauses to think about what each
person knows. Through this reflection, knew obtains a new meaning each time, because Hurston
forces the acknowledgement of each character s personal story. Without thinking and seeking out the
experiences of the characters, there cannot be any understanding of the knowledge. Silence invites the
investigation of what is not spoken, and eventually the understanding of the silence through

Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock is one of the most well known directors of all time bringing murder and mystery to a
new light. His films, starting in 1925 with The Pleasure Garden and ending in 1976 with the film
Family Plot , set a precedent for all other directors in the film industry. Many story lines and
techniques within the cinematography of Hitchcock are common standards for films of today.
#9;However, Hitchcock did not start out as a brilliant director, but instead started from the very bottom
of the business. As a young man Hitchcock was raised and lived in England with his parents. When a

#9;In Blackmail it is the use of both sounds and visuals. Hitchcock managed to not take away from the
visuals when incorporating sound into his films. The sound does not overwhelm the film so the viewer
is still able to pay attention to the finite detail. A viewer does not miss the reoccurring image of hands
reaching at Alice. The same with the glove being forgotten in the artist s studio, the place the murder
took place. The sound in the movie improved upon what was already there.
The next film I am going to discuss is the 1935 film The 39 Steps , or otherwise titled The Thirty nine
Steps , named and fashioned after the novel written by John Buchan. This film is one of the most
popular early works of Hitchcock, and it was from this movie that Hitchcock became Hitchcock , not
just a director but a name. It emanated his distinct and unique style of directing and gave him a very
big name in the industry and the audience. This film also displayed his talent in being able to make a
novel s story line work in a movie with just a few adjustments. He was able to compress the novel to a
length that would interest the audience and improve upon it as well. The length was important to
Hitchcock for he once was quoted as saying, The length of the film should be directly related to the
endurance of the human bladder , a standard all directors should work by in my opinion.

Sexting Child Pornography
Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as distribution of child
pornography . After researching, sexting has seemed less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or
discretion only done by kids, but that isn t always the case, so why have the same punishment for an
adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The
sentencing for sexting or distribution of child pornography should become circumstantial. Sexting is
not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not be
criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to
sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling
them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against minors.
(American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the
person s life and can limit them on many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that
they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex offender must
register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any
neighborhood they must go to each person s house and notify the person that they are a state registered
sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony conviction and sex offender
restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive
effects, these teens will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak.
Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on the bases that they are only
kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media.
There should be punishment for any picture sent without consent, for instance any pornographic or
any form of sexting picture randomly sent without the receiving person wanting or giving consent
should be met with a punishment, but still not a punishment that will follow them for the rest of their
life. In

How Did Giles Corey Change In The Crucible
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what
I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. This is exactly what Giles Corey, John
Proctor and Reverend Hale were trying to do, bring change so things would get better. In Arthur Miller
s play The Crucible, a group of girls began to accuse every honorable person in town of witchcraft.
The witchcraft trials went so far as to hang nineteen innocent people, all because the girls said they
were witches. There were three honorable people, Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale who
spoke up about the social injustices, but they were too late. These characters impacted the overall
outcome of the Salem witchcraft trials, but it did not put a stop to them. Giles Corey tried to speak out
and stop the trials, but was evidently pressed to death after not giving up names of other people
wanting it to stop (1226). Giles was primarily focused on the stopping of witchcraft in the beginning

The War Over Territory On The Southern Border
Happiness is often mistaken for a simple concept at first glance, even though it is often responsible for
a human s actions, thoughts, and even perspective on numerous topics. Different social factors come
together from almost every portion of life, to create one s happiness ranking. A strategy like this can
be used by a single person, but it also has the ability to be used to analyze a certain place or country.
One country that s currently dealing with a significant amount of issues, is Lebanon. Many of the
social factors looked at as a source of happiness, are either missing or being threatened by radical
groups within the country. War over territory on the southern border has been a consistent problem
within the country for decades, leading to a significant amount of destruction and tension between the
Lebanese and their neighbors. Not to mention, many major cities like Beirut have been plagued by the
country s inability to properly remove waste and control the homeless population. Maybe the biggest
uproar taking place in Lebanon right now, is the youth unhappiness with religion and the impact it has
on society. On the other hand, the positives are not exactly where they should be. Lebanon has been
fortunate to have fertile land and great tourist destinations. On top of that, the country is still working
towards creating an equal playing field for both men and women. It has been a rather slow process,
but changes are coming. Even some of the industries within the country

20.1
The particles in the pulse travel from one place to another. This sentence is wrong about the
propagation of a pulse because particles do not travel in a pulse. They just stay in one place moving up
and down and interact with each other. Because the particles are moving, energy are transferred
through the medium from one place to another.
20.3
The wavelength is 0.20 s. This is wrong because wavelength s unit is meter and it measures the
distance between two adjacent locations in the disturbance, not the time one particle takes to finish
one vibration.
The wave continues to travel for 0.20 s before stopping. This sentence is wrong because period does
not measure the time the medium takes to stop moving. Period is the measure of the time one particle
takes to complete one vibration and start to repeat it again. We do not know if one particle will stop
after one vibration.
20.4 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It does not indicate the longitudinal speed of the wave or the speed of one particle (vibrational speed).
We cannot have the transverse speed of the particles since they do not move transversally.
The wave disturbance travels 300 m for each wavelength. The speed of the wave does not determine
how long the wave disturbance travels for each wavelength. We do not have enough information to
determine that.
20.5
The wave continues to travel for 4.0 m before stopping. This sentence is wrong because we do not
know if the wave will stop after it travelled for 4.0 m. The wave can continues moving after 4.0 m and
the wavelength measures the distance between two adjacent locations in the disturbance.
The period of the wave is 4.0 m. This sentence is wrong because period s unit is second(s) or
minute(s), etc. Period does not measure distance, it measures the time one particle takes to complete
one vibration so it cannot be in meter.

  • 2. Paradox Of Thomas Gray Literature past and present is often a reflection of desire and intimacy, one s most inner thoughts feelings. A writers thoughts spilling onto the page, a cleanse of sorts. While other times it may be a commentary on society or a satire to highlight the numerous ills within a community of culture and so in many ways nothing has to remain unwritten, nothing can remain untouched by an authors hand, and yet even with seemingly all reaching grasp an author has when producing literature, there are however things that simply cannot be said the every looming unsayable that dictates that which must be left untouched, a paradox. But the question is not only what the unsayable is in context of time place, gender, and cultural influence, but what the accumulative role of the unsayable is within literature; this then leads to a discussion as to its role as a literary device. Thinking in paradoxes, poetry is both one of the most constrained, yet free forms of literature and a poet who particularly demonstrates the both as one and thus exploring the role of the unsayable is Thomas Gray. Gray s poetic style is often very much conforming to certain styles, especially in his sonnet [on the death of Richard West] , whereby he adheres to the common 14 lines that the sonnet form requires, while simultaneously having a rather scattered rhyme scheme of a,b,c,d. A,b,a,b. E,f,g,h, with the final couplet being g,h. The fact that the two are on opposing scales demonstrates Gray s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the symptoms that are associated with GAD are restlessness/ feeling keyed up, being easily fatigues, difficulty concentrating/ having a blank mind, irritability, muscle tension, and disturbed sleep. Excessive anxiety, the most common mental health problem experienced in average youth, causes individual distress and functional impairment throughout children s lives (Gross Hen, 2004). Anxiety is also a mental status that is elicited in anticipation of threat of some kind. Sensations of anxiety are a normal part of human experiences, but excessive or inappropriate anxiety can become an illness. High levels of anxiety can be accompanied by a set of behavioral and physiological responses including avoidance, vigilance and arousal from a stimuli or stimulus. Children and adolescence of both genders usually experience anxiety symptoms at different levels of intensity that frequently afflicts their everyday life. Anxiety has been treated with drug therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relaxation training and even systematic desensitization. To diagnose general anxiety disorder, one would look for many presenting symptoms, characteristics, and treatments. The DSM 5 has been changed many times in the past, dating back to 18th century. • 4. Pipeline For The Transportation Of Crude Oil large and massive demands of oil (Iron Mountain, 2016). However, the above challenges can be addressed in the following ways: Pipelines used in the transportation of crude oil should be correctly placed (Iron Mountain, 2016). This requires good planning to be done by the local authorities to ensure that the pipelines are set up well. For instance, pipelines should not be closely located to the areas where people reside or carry out their daily activities because explosions are likely to occur any time. Mitigation to accidents caused by railroad is emergency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There should, therefore, be a way of letting specific responders to be aware of the train schedules and routes. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is developed for the emergence of responders providing access to data relating to the train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives the responders a chance to know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any victim of the incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures that have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil transportation. New rules should be introduced for the use of trains in oil transportation. There has been debate over new rules of transporting oil via the railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will stop hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to challenge the new rules. • 5. Boy in the Striped Pyjamas Essay John Boyne has created a sophisticated and meaningful novel in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas through his thematic analysis of power which explores society s perception of authority; his symbolic representation of the fence which starkly exposes Bruno s ignorance of cultural divisions; and finally, his characterisation of Mother revealing the fraught atmosphere during the Holocaust. The theme of power is explored in this novel through authoritative figures and their presentation in society. The character of Father displays his newfound sovereignty with ostentatiousness, and Bruno observes this closely. He notes how Father s actions often lead to an instantaneous response, stating, Father held a hand in the air, which immediately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His innocence is so innate that he remarks to Gretel, I don t understand why we re not allowed on the other side of it. What s so wrong with us that we can t go over there and play? Bruno s innocent perspective contrasts with the cruelty occurring, questioning its value in a time when it was widely accepted. Just as Bruno does not see the fence as a reason for segregation, so too are readers inspired to eradicate the fences of prejudice wherever they exist in society today. The reflection this calls readers to undertake produces a profundity and sophistication in the novel. The language used to convey Bruno s misunderstanding of the fence s symbolism is simplistic. This literary technique, employed by Boyne, assists in portraying the naivety of Bruno. Bruno s enquiry of What s so wrong with us that we can t go over there and play? demonstrates how his juvenility shapes his view of the world, and allows his friendship with Shmuel to flourish despite their division. Shmuel s concession that they were all exactly the same really illustrates this fact. The boys exemplar of friendship provided by their childish perspective encourages the audience to accept everyone, contributing to the insightfulness of the book; and in this way, its meaning and sophistication. • 6. Electron Affinity And Ionization Energy Recently in class we have discovered the meaning of electron affinity and ionization energy. We know that ionization energy is the energy required to be absorbed when an ionic bond removes an electron from an atom. We also know that electron affinity is how easily an atom will accept an electron into its shells when trying to make itself neutral. This means that both of these terms play a big role when an atom loses or gains an electron. The ionization energy is the energy to remove an electron from an atom. A trend for ionization energy is that it generally increases left to right across a row on the periodic table except for the noble gases which have closed shells. For example, lithium requires only 520 kJ/mol to ionize it while helium, the noble gas right next to it in the periodic table, requires 2372 kJ/mol. The ionization energy can be thought of as opposite to the electronegativity of an element in the way that a low ionization energy gives away that an element easily loses electrons to a reaction, while a high electronegativity shows that an element strongly wants to have electrons in a reaction. The electron affinity is an amount of energy that changes when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Electron affinity, on the other hand, describes the energy that is released when an electron binds to an atom. This tells us that since energy is released, the electron affinities will be negative. Another example of the differences between electron affinity and ionization energy is that ionization energy is related with making cations from neutral atoms due to the fact that it measures the amount of energy needed to remove an electron. In contrast, electron affinity is related with making anions due to the fact that it is the amount of energy that changes when a negative ion is formed from an electron being added. The Disadvantages Faced by Catholics in Northern Ireland in the Mid 1960 s Since the partition of 1921 the Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland had been unable to live on equal terms together. The North became Northern Ireland and the south the Republic of Ireland. It was not really an event, for decades Britain had resisted Home rule but by 1919 the attitudes were altering. This was important because any Catholic representing party would have some power in the Stormont Election and the General Elections, which would mean Catholics, had some say in the way the area was run. Because the Council Elections were so important the government used a deceiving tactic called Gerrymandering. When there were more Catholics than Protestants in one council election area, the government would move the borders so that the Protestants would be elected because they would then outnumber the Catholics. We can see that this happened in Londonderry (Derry) where there was 36,049 Catholics and only 17,695 Protestants. After the voting regulations had been applied 14,325 Catholics were entitled to a vote against only 9,235 Protestants. In this essay I will discuss the links between the consumption of food and the underlying desires behind consuming. This translates to the idea that Alice has power over her surroundings, she desires to be omnipotent and break free of her inhibitions. Nicholson also explains that What is killed does not die voluntarily. Therefore the creatures man eats must be weaker than he is (39). Alice supports this idea when she consumes the cake labelled EAT ME (Carroll 12). Not only does Alice consume the cake, but she does so to gain the power to transform so that she may carry on with her pursuit of the garden. According to the American Psychology Association hypnosis is a therapeutic technique in which clinicians make suggestions to individuals who have undergone a procedure designed to relax them and focus their minds (American Psychology Association, 2016). Hypnosis is called hypnotherapy and hypnotic suggestion. James Braid, a 19th century Scottish surgeon originated those terms based on the word hypnos, which is Greek for to sleep (Harris, 2016). • 25. The Housing Crisis Of 2008 During the early 2000 s, the United States housing market experienced growth at an unprecedented rate, leading to historical highs in home ownership. This surge in home buying was the result of multiple illusory financial circumstances which reduced the apparent risk of both lending and receiving loans. However, in 2007, when the upward trend in home values could no longer continue and began to reverse itself, homeowners found themselves owing more than the value of their properties, a trend which lent itself to increased defaults and foreclosures, further reducing the value of homes in a vicious, self perpetuating cycle. The 2008 crash of the near $7 billion housing industry dragged down the entire U.S. economy, and by extension, the global economy, with it, therefore having a large part in triggering the global recession of 2008 2012. Contributing Factors The housing crisis of 2008 can trace its origins back to the stock market trends of the mid to late 90 s. During a period of extended growth in the stock market, increased individual wealth among investors led to generalized increases in spending, including in the housing market. With more disposable income in the pockets of consumers, the demand for housing increased in the late 90 s. Due to the fact that homes are large projects and their construction takes a large amount of time, the supply of homes in the market is inelastic on the short term. Because of the fixed supply of homes, as per the law of supply, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Silence In Sweat By Zora Neale Hurston And The Mother Language is not always sufficient for telling stories, especially difficult narratives. The most difficult stories are those that force characters into situations with no desirable outcomes. The short story Sweat by Zora Neale Hurston and the poem the mother by Gwendolyn Brooks deal with vastly different topics, but share the difficulty of narrating women s stories. Hurston and Brooks also share similar views on the use of silence in writing, its use and effect. These texts define silencing broadly, such as not expressing an opinion about an action, denying a character a voice, or even the absence of new language. While Sweat and the mother agree that silencing usually amplifies women s stories better than language, Hurston takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The syntax of the punctuation also creates pauses. Pausing forces reflection: each space of not speaking allows for the processing of the emotions Brooks presents. By pausing and thinking, the emotions can become personal rather than the emotions of the speaker. Silence through repetition thus allows traumatic stories and the related emotions to present themselves in full via reflection. Similarly, Sweat repeats the final words of the story to allow a better grasp on Delia s experiences, and mainly achieves this through the investigation of what the text does not say. After Delia sees Sykes s swollen eye and neck, she leaves the house. She sits outside in the heat while inside she knew the cold river was creeping up and up to extinguish that eye which must know by now that she knew (9). The repetition of knowledge pervades. Like in the mother, pauses occur here, too, but for a different reason. The phrases he knew, she knew, and [the eye] knows cause pauses to think about what each person knows. Through this reflection, knew obtains a new meaning each time, because Hurston forces the acknowledgement of each character s personal story. Without thinking and seeking out the experiences of the characters, there cannot be any understanding of the knowledge. Silence invites the investigation of what is not spoken, and eventually the understanding of the silence through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many story lines and techniques within the cinematography of Hitchcock are common standards for films of today. #9;However, Hitchcock did not start out as a brilliant director, but instead started from the very bottom of the business. • 31. Sexting Child Pornography Some people believe that sexting should not be criminalized or treated as distribution of child pornography . After researching, sexting has seemed less and less harmful. Sexting is seen as an act or discretion only done by kids, but that isn t always the case, so why have the same punishment for an adult as you would have for a minor, when minors are not given the same rights as adults. The sentencing for sexting or distribution of child pornography should become circumstantial. Sexting is not always harmful and should be seen as the act of a criminal. Sexting among teens should not be criminalized. Current child pornography laws are designed to protect children, but when applied to sexting and teens, it subjects youths to potential felony charges, which can ruin their lives by labeling them as sex offenders and confusing them with adults convicted of heinous sex crimes against minors. (American Civil Liberties Unions). As a child or an adult, being labeled as a sex offender can ruin the person s life and can limit them on many things later in life. Sex offenders have certain guidelines that they have to follow such as; a sex offender can not live near any school and a sex offender must register each year as a sex offender, they can not join any form of military, and before moving into any neighborhood they must go to each person s house and notify the person that they are a state registered sex offender.Existing criminal laws, that carry the potential for a felony conviction and sex offender restrictions, are not meant to address teen sexting. Under the existing laws and their extensive punitive effects, these teens will be stripped of a future as their education and work prospects will be bleak. Teens should become exempt from these charges or misdemeanors, on the bases that they are only kids and still minors. Teens should be educated about responsible behavior when it comes to media. There should be punishment for any picture sent without consent, for instance any pornographic or any form of sexting picture randomly sent without the receiving person wanting or giving consent should be met with a punishment, but still not a punishment that will follow them for the rest of their life. How Did Giles Corey Change In The Crucible Georg Christoph Lichtenberg once said I cannot say whether things will get better if we change; what I can say is that they must change if they are to get better. This is exactly what Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale were trying to do, bring change so things would get better. In Arthur Miller s play The Crucible, a group of girls began to accuse every honorable person in town of witchcraft. The witchcraft trials went so far as to hang nineteen innocent people, all because the girls said they were witches. There were three honorable people, Giles Corey, John Proctor and Reverend Hale who spoke up about the social injustices, but they were too late.
