History Of Mass Extinction Essay
The History of Earth s Mass Extinctions
The four billion year history of earth has witnessed five mass extinctions, and some scientists believe
that we are on the verge of the sixth.1[1] If we are in the midst of the next mass extinction, we are in
the very early stages of an evolving, and escalating process. The most recent, or fifth mass of the
extinctions occurred 65 million years ago at the boundary between the Cretaceous and Tertiary
periods. Images of an asteroid colliding with the planet, decimating the dinosaur population have been
in circulation since the early 80 s.2[2] Being the most recent mass extinction, thousands of scientists
around the world have investigated it, and elementary school children are familiar with ... Show more

Experts have put together various theories about previous mass extinctions and their findings have led
some to believe that we are in the early stages of the sixth. One finding that has worried scientists
throughout the world is the rate at which species of plants and animals have been going extinct.
Previous research had discovered that the number of species of birds around the world has been on a
steady decline for some time.6[6] While this detection did raise some red flags, it was not evidence
that the next mass extinction had been launched.
While birds are abundant both in sheer population and number of species scientists needed to discover
the decline of more than one selection of animals. More than half of the detected species of animals on
earth are insects.7[7] If scientists wanted substantial, tangible evidence that there was a widespread
decrease in animal populations and worldwide decrease in biodiversity, researching insects was the
way to go. The results across the board were not the least encouraging.
The populations of butterflies in Britain were at the forefront of the researchers findings. Overall, 71
percent of the butterfly populations have decreased in numbers and 3.4 percent of

Purpose Statement For Journalism
Ezra Pound once said that literature is news that stays news. For me, literature is the very essence of
the enduring power of any great work of art. In journalism industry, it plays an important and
fundamental role in news reporting and communication. I deem literature is the art that use language

The Reflection Of Achieving College Success In College
Achieving College Success has been a very positive journey for me. Prior to the course, I was mostly
a positive thinker, and had overcome several things in my life. However, the class provided me with
strategies useful in pushing forward in all life circumstances. Many negative thoughts run through my
head, as is true for everyone else. It was important to know how to control them and use my negative
experiences to better myself. I also learned how to set positive goals that will positively benefit me,
and to set a deadline to achieve my goals. I feel much more organized and confident after taking this
course. I feel like I can face anything and come out of it with a positive take away or goal, and
building off every experience will always be a goal now. This class gives great advice for achieving
success in all major life goals. The main, and probably most important concept I learned was the
Creator idea. This means that, When you accept personal responsibility, you believe you can create
everything in your life. (Downing, 43) I knew I could create many positive things in the world
beforehand. I had a migraine for over 3 years toward the end of middle school, and in the beginning of
high school. I should have died at birth, but was given a test trial medication that saved my life. I had
childhood epilepsy that went away, and I have a disabled mother and a dead sister. Perseverance and
coming back from trouble have been the qualities that have characterized my life up to

Apollo 13 Essay
Apollo 13 Questions
1.I d first have to say that the head of mission control on the ground was definitely important in the
salvaging of Apollo 13. He was faced with problem after problem yet he kept a somewhat level head
through all of it and managed the engineers and other people involved back at Houston very well. Jim
Lovell s piloting skills played a rold in the crew s survival as well. When he had to set the ship s
course for Earth manually it took a great deal of skill and patience and he deserves credit for that. Ken
Mattingly might not have made it to space, but his extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of the
spacecraft saved the lives of his friends when they had a power crisis.
2. One particular problem during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As for the astronauts, I think their attitude towards the space program was positive. They obviously
were enthused about their mission to the moon, but I think they were beginning to believe these
missions were becoming routine as well. I gathered this from their horseplay and wisecracks in space
prior to the accident.
4. Apollo 13 wasn t known for any great scientific achievements of course, but it proved the point that
space flight is anything but routine or mundane. It proved that something as small as some faulty
wiring could spell disaster for an entire mission. It opened the eyes of the media and general public to
see that man had not yet completely mastered space and things could go wrong.
5. The Challenger disaster and the near failure of Apollo 13 are different in a few ways.
One obvious difference is that there were no fatalities in Apollo while the whole crew of
Challenger perished. The Challenger incident happened before the shuttle even reached space while
the Apollo s problems occurred on the way to the moon far from Earth.
There was also a difference in the nature of the incidents. Apollo s troubles stemmed from an
explosion in the oxygen tanks due to some faulty wiring that cut the spacecraft s electrical power,
oxygen, and other systems. The challenger disaster was caused by a cracked O ring in the solid fuel
rocket due to cold weather. Flames within the rocket

How Did Sneferu Build The Pyramids Of Giza Essay
The Great Pyramids of Giza Have you ever heard someone call the Great Pyramids of Giza the last of
the seven wonders? Well the reason they say this is because it s the only one left standing and it is the
oldest of the wonders (Mark). These ancient pyramids are great for studying how people lived and
worked in Egypt thousands of years ago. This paper will discuss the history of the pyramids, the
Pharaohs at the times of construction, and how they were built. The Pyramids of Giza were built on
the Giza Plateau by three different Pharaohs. Before the Giza pyramids were ever thought of the first
pyramid to be built in Egypt was constructed by a king known as Sneferu, this took place during the
old kingdom; his reign was from 2613 BC 2589 BC(History). According to Professor Joshua J. Mark,
Sneferu had made a few pyramids before his best one. However, all his previous ones failed due to
many complications with the structure, such as the angle being wrong. Sneferu took what he had
learned from his previous mistakes and constructed a decent pyramid ... Show more content on

But I personally believe that, based on the size of the settlement and the whole work of an area that we
found, I believe that permanent and temporary workmen who worked at building the Pyramid were
36,000 (Who). There was another theory that was mentioned in a few articles that were interesting,
because it opposed the theory that stated slaves were doing all of the work. This theory was that there
were no slaves doing all the hard work, but the farmers did most of the hard work when it came to
building the pyramids. This was due to the annual flood of the Nile (Kinnaer). When the Nile would
flood, then the Pharaoh would provide work for the farmers to build his monuments

Return To Neverland Peter Pan Comparison
Peter Pan is one of the most popular fictional characters throughout American literature with a
plethora of books, stage plays, comic books, videogames, and a large number of film adaptions with
each carrying there own flavor; retelling the tale from a multitude of different perspectives. One of the
most interesting adaptions comes from the 1950 s classic made by Walt Disney. Disney s version
really captured the imaginative atmosphere the young boy thrived in; giving us a thrill ride of
adventure. In his first appearance in the Disney universe; Peter, is never given a formal origin; instead
we are presented with tales of his adventures in Neverland as he fights against his arch nemesis:
Captain Hook, as told by Wendy Darling. Although it has been implied Hook and Pan have fought for
many years, several questions remain: how did they meet? What year could it have been? When was
Peter born? How did he meet Tinker bell? What if I told you the ... Show more content on

Coral Reef Research Paper
Kelp forests and coral reefs both belong in delicate environments, which when disturbed can have
catastrophic consequences for both of them. Certain processes can cause the eradication of both kelp
forests and coral reefs, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs, including sewage runoff,
changes in water chemistry, and land derived material from soil erosion.
Coral reefs around the world are in constant decline, and this is a major problem. This is happening
due to the direct and indirect effects of overfishing, and pollution that has derived from land. Both
these factors have decimated the cover of coral reef species for over two centuries. Often involved in
the degradation of coral reefs is a shift from the usual extensive covers of the coral, to extensive
covers of microalgae. Examples from around the world have shown that corals can persist and survive
through the long term, chronic stressors, such as overfishing and eutrophication, however cannot seem
to survive and recover from short term, acute disturbances, such as storm damage or freshwater run
off). This is due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may explain the frequent dominance that micro algae have over coral. While neither enhanced
nutrients nor sedimentation are good for corals, their combined effect is far worse. Coral reefs that
experience loss of herbivores or flood plumes are subjected to very rapid micro algae growth in the
summer. If there has been a substantial reduction in herbivores, and no way to inhibit the growth of
algae, the increase in cover would still occur in certain places (i.e. the Great Barrier Reef), with or
without the change in nutrient availability. This indicates that increased nutrients in the waters are not
necessary for regime shifts in many

Talisman Case in Iraq Essay
Talisman Energy INC.: The Decision to Enter Iraq
I. Introduction Any company that decides to expand internationally should consider many
complexities that it might face. Because of the differences in political system, culture, surrounding
environment, and many other factors, there might be great barriers for a firm to expand internationally.
The CEO of Talisman Energy Inc and senior executive team have to convince the board of directors to

unstable region carries a great risk.

Talisman cannot take the risk and face another scandal like what happened in Sudan.
Talisman should investigate about how independent Kurdistan is from the rest of Iraq, if there is any
singe of conflict between Kurdistan and the government of Iraq, Talisman then should clear it out with
the Iraqi government. It is as I mentioned an unstable region, so there is a great chance of conflicts.
Talisman should clear out how the shares after oil discovery will be divided, since that they are not
sure of finding oil or not, there might be some conflicts after the oil discovery, simply because oil is
demanded all over the world, so the Iraqi government might change it s mind and decide to get its
share of the profit.
Talisman should use the media to their side before any other conflict appears. There should be some
meetings with NGOs to clear out Talismans policy and intentions in entering Iraq. There has to be a
communication between Talisman and the NGOs to make sure that the company is away from funding
any civil wars. That way, shareholders will feel even more comfortable, and the company will not risk
its reputation.
V. Implementation of the Solutions (1) Talisman should start meeting with NGO s before they enter
Iraq, this way the company will be clear with the rest of the world about their future moves. (2) The
investigation about the situation between Kurdistan and the

Gender and Sex Norms in Sports Essay
Gender and Sex Norms in Sports
In our society there are costs both socially and culturally for individuals who choose to violate their
own gender and/or sex norms. We live in a time when, though great advancements have been made,
gender roles are still differentiated out from each other with specific behavior and lifestyle
expectations built into our value system and ascribed to individuals. The past decade has seen a
growing move away from such distinct male/female expectations, however in areas such as sport the
differences and problems that still exist in our gender ideology are much more visible. Though we are
aware of these differences and can discuss them in a class environment (such as we did the past four

Things changed though, with technology. More and more it was necessary for women to work and
become involved in the public sphere. Out of circumstances they were becoming fiercer, and more
competitive. This challenged the traditional roles women were required to fill and gradually, women
fought back. They began to reclaim themselves and their rights not just in the domestic or private
sphere, but in a public realm as well. They demanded equal rights both in terms of politics and
opportunity. This meant they wanted equal opportunity in everything education, the job market, and
sports.
Title 9 guaranteed these rights. In paper, it guaranteed these rights. In reality, it was still a battle for
women to identify themselves as serious athletes and be taken seriously. It was getting easier though.
Title 9 brought about many policy changes allowing women to enter into the world of sport. The
advancements made opened many opportunity and also many peoples minds. There are still many
problems though, as to where sports and athletics can be allowed to merge with femininity,
masculinity, and traditional gender roles.
The world of sports highlights the problems that still exist for women as well as problems with
modern sex stereotyping and generalizing. The expectations we hold for men and women are less clear
in the realm of sport and the issue has been recently where to draw the line. Is there a line that can be

NPV= 58,000,000 2,250,000 =55,750,000
Projects with a positive NPV add value to the firm.
Cash inflows and outflows can occur at any time during the project. The NPV of the project is the sum
of the present values of the net cash flows for each time period t, where t takes on the values 0 (the
beginning of the project) through N (the end of the project).
With this formula we can also calculate the time and the amount of money the capital invested in the
project will have generate profits.
The NPV calculation provides a dollar measure of how much a project is expected to add to a firm s
value. Analysts may also want to know what the rate of return on a project is in order to compare it to
the cost of capital. This rate is called the internal rate of return, or IRR.
The IRR is the discount rate that makes the present value of the cash inflows equal to the present value
of the cash outflows. This is the same as saying that the IRR is the discount rate that makes the net
present value equal to zero.
The formula that represents the IRR is

The Fabulous Life and Works of Randall Jarrell The experience collected throughout a lifetime shape

the past always affecting the decisions of the future. This phenomenon can be clearly observed when
looking back on the life and works of Randall Jarrell, a literary genius during the World War Two era.
Throughout his life Jarrell collected experiences which shaped not only his works, but also forged
who he became as a person. Events which occurred all the way from Jarrell s early childhood up to his

Analysis Of Rebecca West s The Return Of The Soldier
In Rebecca West s novel, The Return of the Soldier the reader is introduced to a man named Chris
Baldry who suffers from shell shock fighting in the war. When he returns home, he has no recollection
of the past fifteen years of his life. What he remembers, is being in love with a woman named
Margaret, the daughter of an innkeeper. However, what he inevitably comes home to is a wife named
Kitty and a cousin named Jenny who have been earnestly awaiting his return. Although West portrays
Chris to be a victim so to speak within the novel due to his amnesia, the real trauma that he would
experience was awaiting him at home, back at Baldry Court. Chris return would lead to a major upset
in the lives of the women in his life, but for himself as well despite the fact he cannot account for a
little over a decade of his past.
When Chris returns home, West makes it abundantly clear through the accounts of all of the characters
that he is not the man he was when he left to fight in the war. His own cousin Frank even says, I never
realized the horror of warfare until I saw my cousin... (pg. 40). Even Jenny admits that he doesn t
seem to be the same when she admits, By nights I saw Chris running across the brown rottenness of
No Man s Land, starting back here because he trod upon a hand, not even looking there because of the
awfulness of an unburied head... (pg. 7). The shell shock he experiences causes him to lose not only
parts of his past, but parts of himself as well. However,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address
Could the North and South ever come together again and unite as one nation after the Civil War? The
purpose of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address was to offer his promising predictions for
reconciliation with the South and his vision of the future. Lincoln utilizes strong and elevated diction
to clearly articulate his vision for the future, with choices like dreaded and sought . Furthermore,
Lincoln s optimistic tone offers a beacon of hope, with examples like, achieve and cherish a just and
lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations, and to bind up the nation s wounds . The purpose
of the address is achieved through parallelism and appeal to religion, too. Lincoln s diction, one of his
most powerful literary devices, is employed prominently throughout the entire passage.
Lincoln s elevated diction is used so he can communicate his thoughts openly and plainly. For
instance, he says all dreaded and sought to avoid the Civil War. This establishes the war as a terrible
evil but not the Confederacy. His word choice helps humanize the Confederacy, the Union s enemy.
The black population is addressed as colored slaves in order to appeal to the South and their deep
pride in slavery. Simultaneously, to appeal to the North who despised slavery, he says the black
population was part of the whole population . The purpose of Lincoln s diction here is to attempt to
bring the Union and the Confederacy together as it appeases to both side s beliefs. Also, Lincoln
chooses to say insurgents , which has a more neutral connotation behind it, instead of calling the
Confederacy the enemy or another derogatory term in order not to alienate the South. When the Civil
War ends, the two sides would have to reconcile, and they can t do that if Lincoln depicts the South as
the enemy.
Lincoln s optimistic tone attempts to persuade the audience into forgiving the South and making
peace. For instance, Lincoln says, to bind up the nation s wounds, , a bright and encouraging quote for
the country s future. By referring to the Union and Confederacy as a one entity, it depicts them as a
single united country. What Lincoln also suggests is that the Civil War is not fatal and that the

Theological Issues In The Colossians
Colossians is the fifty first book of the Bible, the twelfth book of the New Testament and the seventh
book in the section Letters by Paul . Colossians has a total of four chapters and ninety five verses. It is
one of the letters that Paul wrote while he was in prison; therefore it is sometimes referred to as a
prison epistle . Colossians focuses on the supremacy and sufficiency of Jesus. Paul addresses three
major theological issues in his letter: the supremacy of Jesus, the redemptive work of the cross and
Christian ethics.
Colosse was a little village, next to a popular city on the on the banks of the river Lycus. Aside from
their agricultural life style, their neighbors the Laodiceans, and the growing threat of Gnosticism
within the community, very little is known about the people of Colosse. By all indications Paul had
not visited the church of Colosse before writing to them. After Epaphras, one of Paul s disciples,
shared his concerns about the problems in the church, Paul wrote them a letter in hopes of ... Show

reasoning or philosophy . According to Merriam Webster dictionary heresy is defined as a belief or
opinion that does not agree with the official belief or opinion of a particular religion . Paul wanted to

was essential for all believers. Jesus was all that they needed. The law, while good for keeping order,
is not enough to save you, nor can there be a place in the believer s heart for worshiping other gods or

Three Major Eras
From the 13th century to the 18th century the art world has three major eras, Renaissance, Baroque,
and Rococo. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific knowledge has a big
influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the first time, it became a trend
and the same method and expression method were adopted for many art objects. That trend also
became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge development and analysis, art
objects became more realistic.
In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th century.
The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. Not only was the composition seen
by the eyes, but also the scientific theoretical perspective projection method used for the space
composition of paintings. Holy Trinity drawn by Masaccio of the Renaissance era incorporates
scientific perspectives into the vault part. Another example would be a Mona Lisa. The famous Mona
Lisa drawn by Leonardo da Vinci also uses a scientific way of expression as well. Leonardo da Vinci

with shadows. Which seems really strongly highlighted due to majority of areas are dark. Another
characteristic of the Baroque era is the composition of dynamic movement. The Seven Works of
Mercy painted by Caravaggio is a good example. Besides the light and dark with the light source, I
feel the movement as a whole. Clothing, hair, flames etc. have a feeling of dynamism. I think that this
dynamic movement is also a big characteristic of the Baroque

You have recently upgraded from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Before the upgrade, the application
used to run perfectly. However, after the upgrade, you may start to face certain issues. You may see
that whenever you open a drawing on AutoCAD 2006, Windows Explorer opens a new window with
the image. Therefore, it not only consumes more memory but also you are not able to move the
drawings from one AutoCAD page to the other. Sometimes you may notice that you are not even able
to save any document as well. You may have installed the updates necessary for the application, still
the error does not go away.

Analysis Of Mars And Venus Surprised By Vultron
Prompt 1
First Paragraph Principles of Art
The aesthetic experience of the painting Mars and Venus Surprised by Vultron by Hendrick De Clerck
boldly explores the human condition, which during the renaissance was a mindset that existed in a
society driven to find moral balance between our desires and the desires of God. Stories that
originated from mythology are formed to illustrate the difference between right and wrong. The artist
emphasizes the never ending battle between heaven and hell and good and bad through the dramatic
passionate tale of Mars and Venus. This Juxtaposition is illustrated in the artist s use of color. For
instance, the intense reds of the bed canopy against the peaceful blues of the sheets they lie on. As you
can see, the juxtaposition of the good and evil that resides in the hearts of man in his choice of
chiaroscuro, or value, which he uses to heavily contrast the luminous features of the painting with
darkness. It is also clear to see in the contrast in line work and texture, for example, the following
lines of the sheets against the round, sculpted flesh of the humans depicted. This painting reflects
realism and religious themes were of high importance in this specific era of the sixteenth century.
WC 203
This specific piece of art is an example of classical discipline and individual expression in the
renaissance time period. The artist expresses individuality to express mood especially in the
expressions he chose to paint with great care on each subject s face. The artist seemed to put a lot of
emphasis on how each subject was feeling at the time. The lovers are distraught and ashamed as they
are caught in the act. Her husband is upset at the betrayal, and inquiring in his gaze to God what
punishments should be sought, while Mars has his arm around her, as if to protect her. Though Venus
is defiant of her marriage by cheating on her husband with Mars, it is a temporary validation that came
from lust, symbolized by the artist with bowls of fruit in the foreground by the bed. The intensity of
these feelings are done justice with a massive scale panel as his canvas, with all these elements
combined, the painting ultimately portrays the complicated war between good and evil in the

Leadership Is A Critical And Valuable Component
Leadership is a critical and valuable component to both organizational theory and behavior as, it
assists the organization in accomplishing missions, values, goals and practices that are expected and
desired. Leadership as defined, is the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision
or set of goals, (Robbins, Stephen P., Judge, Timothy A. 2011). Leadership is diverse and may look
different based on multiple factors that may include type of organization, the mission of that particular
organization, leadership traits, personalities, characteristics and behaviors, ethics, trust, and can also
look different depending on particular situations. All of these factors are influential with employee
behaviors, the production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this model a least preferred co worker questionnaire, (LPC) is completed by a person in
leadership and answered based on describing co workers they have dealt with based in characteristics.
Based on the LPC score, individuals would fall into either a relationship oriented type of leader, or

place in the categories. (Robbins, Stephen P., Judge, Timothy A. 2011).
Another popular and extensively used tests are the Myer Briggs Type Indicator test. The Myers Briggs
Type Indicator (MBTI) is by far the most widely used and studied psychological test today, with over
three million people a year completing the assessment instrument (Gardner Martinko,
1996;Offermann Spiros, 2001). The MBTI test has been used for learning and development in
organizations, academic purposes, decision making, management, leadership, or simply identifying
one s personality to give guidance in career choices, (James, Michael. 2003,Gardner Martinko, 1996).
The MBTI has proven it s effectiveness in leadership through the ability for leaders to recognize their
personalities types to better assist them in training others and professional development in leadership
roles (James, Michael. 2003).

Operation Valhalla was an operation that was conducted in Operation Iraqi Freedom by US Army
Special Forces in order to train the Iraqi Army Special Forces unit in order combat the insurgency that

Valhalla, the two Special Forces Unit (both US Army SF and Iraqi SF) had taken the fight to Jaish Al

operations. What had occurred during this engagement was an overwhelming fight that resulted in the
defeat of Jaish Al Mahdi as well as recovering a hostage. This was a success for the two SF units, but
what occurred after a media battle or intention to use Information Operations in order to discredit

these fighters. (Dauber 2009, pg. 1 2) More condemning was media releases by the insurgents of these

Can Oral History Be Trusted
Can Oral History be Trusted ? The 21st Century, a time we live in where nearly everything is
documented. Whether it be written and put into archives or posted on Facebook. Things were much
different in the early stage of man up until now. The cave people documented things by writing on
walls, but can this be trusted? Even documents that have been written down cannot be trusted so can
stories or myths have been written by people in their own diaries or in letters so loved ones be trusted?

Some historians do believe that it is a waste of time because it is so unreliable but as this is sometimes
the only way to gather information on the period or on certain things, what does this say about oral
History? Of course however, where oral History has it s disadvantages it has it s advantages. Oral
History can bring about some good information about the time that is being studied. Civil Servants for
example can be a great source of information. This is because if they have been in the civil service, for
example forty years, then they have witnessed change of policies, problems, pressure groups and
ministers who made a difference. They can give us good insight into the time and what change took
and place and why it took place, whether this can be trusted is the question though and it has to be said
that in this case, civil servant records are more reliable than anything else because they are always
going to talk about the problems and how it was fixed rather than pinpointing one thing and making it
out to be amazing or terrible. Even if someone is not from the civil service they can still be helpful,
they can provide information that was not already known and help piece together events 4. An

Mohandas Gandhi was One of India s Pacifist and Activist
Mohandas Gandhi Gandhi once said, You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Mohandas
Gandhi was an Indian pacifist and activist, who is a beacon and an icon for many people. He has
inspired many to pursue non violence, which is why we can consider him one of the greatest of his
time. Everything he has done was either for the good of others, or to bring himself spiritually closer to
god. Gandhi was a reformer because he played a large role in India s freedom from Britain, he is seen
as the century s foremost representative of civil rights, and he created a method of moral activism and
non violence. As stated by Gandhi, Only if I die for India shall I know that I was fit to live. Gandhi is
the main reason why India freed themselves from Britain s control in the early 1900s. The British
wanted to pass a bill to prevent Indians from voting, so Gandhi led a drive that gathered 10,000
signatures to oppose the bill (Deats 25). Also, Gandhi marched 240 miles to the sea, where he made
salt illegally against the government s monopoly and high tax on salt to help the poor (History Study
Centre, Mohandas K. Gandhi. ). Once in control of the Indian National Congress, he led the Non Co
Operation Movement, in which Indians stopped supporting British Colonial Institutions (Hardiman 2).
And to finally ignite the spark for their freedom from Britain, Gandhi led the Quit India campaign.
Independence was declared five years later in 1947 (History Study Centre, Mohandas

Targeting Stereotypes
On a similar subject, consumers would generally prefer to see targeted ads over generic ads because
targeted ads can help consumers shop great prices and make informed decisions about a product they
are in the market for. When shopping online, algorithms take your previous data about things like
shopping, style preferences, brand preferences, etc. This data can then be used in order to give the
consumer ads that relate to these things. So say a consumer shops for a product online, say that
particular consumer only shops prices on one particular site for that product. These algorithms can
take the information about you shopping for these products and promote advertisements for similar
sites that may sell the same or similar products for better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I really wanted to get a long board that I could use to get myself around campus when I got for school,
as I knew that longboards are a common form of transportation around college campuses. Little did I
know Doane was so small that everyone walked and no one uses long boards, but that is a different
conversation for a different time. So I go online to shop, but I really only knew of one company that
sold longboards, at least the quality of longboards I was in the market for. That company was Zumiez.
So I go to their website and start shopping around for the best longboards, shopping all of the styles
and prices to find some of the best options. However, when I had looked through all of the possible
options, I was shocked by the price just about every time. The prices were way out of my small high
school graduation money budget. So from there in my mind I really only had one option, try to get
more money before the end of the summer, or else I was not going to be able to afford a longboard.
However, shortly after looking for longboards on Zumiez, I was scrolling through Twitter when I got
an ad for a smaller and less known shop, BC surf and sport. So, I get curious and go to their site to see
what they have to offer. On their site, I find out that they sell mostly the same longboards, however

thing about them, they have designs of the Colorado flag on them so I get to always have a little piece

When human beings feed on the animals, they also have a risk of contaminating the disease. No

it is logical that the animals should be treated well. Animals used for food and other products should

The Black Language, Then Tell Me, By James Baldwin
With a background affected tremendously by the dark history of African Americans, language has
become a significant problem to what the term Black English really means to different people. In If
Black Language Isn t a Language, Then Tell Me, What Is, James Baldwin attempts to analyze what a
language really means and how Black English evolved to fulfill an important role for Americans.
Black English sounds proper to blacks, but to whites it may not be a proper use of language.
Throughout this essay, Baldwin uses a specific tone and relates to his audience by opening his mind to
both emotion and logic while still upholding his credibility. Baldwin tries to persuade the audience to
respect the language of Black English using his personal experience. The history of different
languages mentioned in the essay is used to help convince the audience of thinking about the term
language from a new perspective. Whites and Blacks both may speak the same language, but that does
not mean that they understand each other because the language can be spoken in different matters. As
Baldwin states, The white man could not possibly understand, and that, indeed, he cannot understand,
until today . A white man or black man had to be careful about the words they used in front of each
other because some words would be considered offensive for one another. Baldwin uses African
American language and culture to reveal the impact that the English language Americans use has

Feeding my grandfather became complicated in the later stages of his illness. He found it difficult to
remember how to chew and swallow which resulted in him losing a lot of weight. Tube feeding was
not commonly used in Africa in 1990s when he was diagnosed. He became increasingly frail until he
passed away at the age of seventy three in 1993. He suffered from dementia for three and a half years.
In the first year of my mental Health Nursing degree course, I was put in practice at an older adults
community placement. This made aware of how widespread and serious Dementia is. It was
challenging as patients with early signs of dementia have lost their memory and were forgetting that
they had to eat. There was a woman with dementia who forgot the meaning of food and saw food as

her still in order to feed her as she kept smearing the food on her face. This stirred my interest in
studying the problems associated with dementia especially feeding. Newspaper reports abound of staff

Why would a worker belong to a trade union? Trade Union s use their collective identity to help
individuals receive the best treatment from their employers; in working conditions, and matters of pay

in the economy and in harmony with expectations of the workers. A by product of a trade unions work
is to influence a more equitable dispersion of wages in the economy. All the outlined objectives appear
only to be positive, making it questionable as to why union membership would decline for any reason
other than the opinion that working conditions are good and a union s interference is considered
unnecessary. In fact, there are several reasons for the decline in trade union membership that are not
directly due to improved relations at work. The composition of the labour force has dramatically
changed in Britain where the 1970 s tradition of the working class male in industrial heartlands has
been replaced with equal proportions of men and women now working in a predominantly service
based economy. The compositional factors of de industrialisation and the increase in female

Jonah Vs. Jonah In The Book Of Nineveh
The people simply humbled themselves before God and He had mercy on them cancelling His
judgment. Jonah had wanted Nineveh to be destroyed by God and this would prolong the life of the

Summary Of The Watchmaker Argument By William Paley
The Watchmaker Argument by William Paley has been of great controversy because of its analogy
between the creation of a watch and the creation of the universe. Paley s argument consists of the idea
of there being a creator for everything, he uses the complicated composition of a watch as to prove
that there has to be a watchmaker and therefore the complicated composition of the universe serves as
to prove that there is in fact a Universe creator (God). Although Paley s argument is strong and valid,
David Hume s opposing argument is more valid due to the premises he uses. Hume argues that it is
impossible to compare something created by the human mind to something as complex as the universe
simply because there is a lot about the creation of the universe that is unknown, unlike the creation of
a house (or watch).
William Paley uses the invention of a watch as an analogy to the invention of the universe. He argues
that if we observe the very complicated and detailed design of the universe we can see that there was
in fact a maker. Paley argues that the complicated structure of a watch is enough prove that there was a
watch maker just like the complicated structure of the universe is prove enough to show that there is
universe maker. He also shows that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that It is not necessary that a machine be perfect, in order to shew with what design it was
made: still less necessary, where the only question is, whether it were made with any design at all.
(Paley 5). Paley s argument here is whether or not the perfection of a watch (universe) shows the
design in which it was, he argues that this is not a relevant factor as to whether or not there is a creator
for it and whether or not this was made with any design at

History Of Westminster Students At Model United Nations
Westminster Students At Model UN
With their name placards held high and their western business attire well tailored, 36 students from
Westminster took off into the ever changing world of foreign policy. From November 18 21, the

were upwards of 800,000 men, women, and children.
The conference was not completely a good time had by all, as it had been reported that one of the
delegations had been in a major auto accident after leaving AMUN in Chicago. Several students from
Missouri Southern State University were injured and one was killed following an eight car accident
that occurred Thursday on I 55. Sophomore Vivian Wu was killed after representing Iceland at the
same conference in Chicago. The Model UN program issued the following statement: It is with deep
sadness that we pass along the news

Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning
erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune
performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail
about partitioning.
Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a
Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries.
Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are.
There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports,
which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements
or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can
access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent
table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the
table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t
avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a
performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you
can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is
helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or
updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s
possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such
as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a
composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id
and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you

It has been many years since the creation of Facebook and it is difficult to imagine how we lived

Descriptive Essay About Hotel
Today i went to the coolest hotel ever! I couldn t believe what i was seeing, it was amazing!
Everything was made out of glass, but that s not all. Every room had some sort of waterfall, river,
creek, or body of water in it. When I got off the plane all I wanted to do was go inside. The outside
was gorgeous, it was all glass and surrounding the hotel was the pacific ocean .When you walk in you
see that the floor is made of glass, the walls are made of glass, the ceiling is made of glass, even the
tables and chairs are made of glass. Right beside the front desk is a big waterfall with beautiful blue
water pouring out of it, at the end of the waterfall there is a place where you can sit down. The
concierge leads you up to your room and you have to walk up these beautiful glass stairs. In my room
there was a soft blue rug covering the whole floor but still being able to see the floor was glass
underneath. There was a king size bed and on the opposite wall there was a fireplace with a tv on the
mantle. I turned and noticed there were two other doors in my room, so I walked into the first door
and everything was black.. I turned on the light and there was a huge waterfall with a swimming pool
at the end of it. It looked like the one downstairs but it was a little bit smaller than that one. I decided i
would go into the other room and it was the bathroom. The floor also had a blue rug but everything in
the bathroom was glass and i mean everything. The toilet was glass, the

Black Power Summary
Today s blog post will be examining the elements framed in the opening chapters of Hamilton s and
Carmichael s Black Power: The Politics of Liberation in America. Black Power s introduction is an
empowering narrative dedicated to the black people of America, propositioning unification and
mobilization of black forces, to gain control of the freedom they deserve. Hamilton and Carmichael
outlined the steps as follows: first to assemble in solidarity, then to question and challenge embedded
societal structures, subsequently invoking complex thinking, and ultimately invested involvement in
political participation. Correspondingly, they explicitly state that there are no easy solutions and
astutely recognize that revolution is a constantly evolving

  • 2. History Of Mass Extinction Essay The History of Earth s Mass Extinctions The four billion year history of earth has witnessed five mass extinctions, and some scientists believe that we are on the verge of the sixth.1[1] If we are in the midst of the next mass extinction, we are in the very early stages of an evolving, and escalating process. The most recent, or fifth mass of the extinctions occurred 65 million years ago at the boundary between the Cretaceous and Tertiary periods. Images of an asteroid colliding with the planet, decimating the dinosaur population have been in circulation since the early 80 s.2[2] Being the most recent mass extinction, thousands of scientists around the world have investigated it, and elementary school children are familiar with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Experts have put together various theories about previous mass extinctions and their findings have led some to believe that we are in the early stages of the sixth. One finding that has worried scientists throughout the world is the rate at which species of plants and animals have been going extinct. Previous research had discovered that the number of species of birds around the world has been on a steady decline for some time.6[6] While this detection did raise some red flags, it was not evidence that the next mass extinction had been launched. While birds are abundant both in sheer population and number of species scientists needed to discover the decline of more than one selection of animals. More than half of the detected species of animals on earth are insects.7[7] If scientists wanted substantial, tangible evidence that there was a widespread decrease in animal populations and worldwide decrease in biodiversity, researching insects was the way to go. The results across the board were not the least encouraging. The populations of butterflies in Britain were at the forefront of the researchers findings. Overall, 71 percent of the butterfly populations have decreased in numbers and 3.4 percent of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. The Reflection Of Achieving College Success In College Achieving College Success has been a very positive journey for me. Prior to the course, I was mostly a positive thinker, and had overcome several things in my life. However, the class provided me with strategies useful in pushing forward in all life circumstances. Many negative thoughts run through my head, as is true for everyone else. It was important to know how to control them and use my negative experiences to better myself. I also learned how to set positive goals that will positively benefit me, and to set a deadline to achieve my goals. I feel much more organized and confident after taking this course. I feel like I can face anything and come out of it with a positive take away or goal, and building off every experience will always be a goal now. This class gives great advice for achieving success in all major life goals. The main, and probably most important concept I learned was the Creator idea. This means that, When you accept personal responsibility, you believe you can create everything in your life. (Downing, 43) I knew I could create many positive things in the world beforehand. I had a migraine for over 3 years toward the end of middle school, and in the beginning of high school. I should have died at birth, but was given a test trial medication that saved my life. I had childhood epilepsy that went away, and I have a disabled mother and a dead sister. Perseverance and coming back from trouble have been the qualities that have characterized my life up to ... • 5. Apollo 13 Essay Apollo 13 Questions 1.I d first have to say that the head of mission control on the ground was definitely important in the salvaging of Apollo 13. He was faced with problem after problem yet he kept a somewhat level head through all of it and managed the engineers and other people involved back at Houston very well. Jim Lovell s piloting skills played a rold in the crew s survival as well. When he had to set the ship s course for Earth manually it took a great deal of skill and patience and he deserves credit for that. Ken Mattingly might not have made it to space, but his extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of the spacecraft saved the lives of his friends when they had a power crisis. 2. One particular problem during ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As for the astronauts, I think their attitude towards the space program was positive. They obviously were enthused about their mission to the moon, but I think they were beginning to believe these missions were becoming routine as well. I gathered this from their horseplay and wisecracks in space prior to the accident. 4. Apollo 13 wasn t known for any great scientific achievements of course, but it proved the point that space flight is anything but routine or mundane. It proved that something as small as some faulty wiring could spell disaster for an entire mission. It opened the eyes of the media and general public to see that man had not yet completely mastered space and things could go wrong. 5. The Challenger disaster and the near failure of Apollo 13 are different in a few ways. One obvious difference is that there were no fatalities in Apollo while the whole crew of Challenger perished. The Challenger incident happened before the shuttle even reached space while the Apollo s problems occurred on the way to the moon far from Earth. There was also a difference in the nature of the incidents. Apollo s troubles stemmed from an explosion in the oxygen tanks due to some faulty wiring that cut the spacecraft s electrical power, oxygen, and other systems. The challenger disaster was caused by a cracked O ring in the solid fuel rocket due to cold weather. Flames within the rocket leaked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. How Did Sneferu Build The Pyramids Of Giza Essay The Great Pyramids of Giza Have you ever heard someone call the Great Pyramids of Giza the last of the seven wonders? Well the reason they say this is because it s the only one left standing and it is the oldest of the wonders (Mark). These ancient pyramids are great for studying how people lived and worked in Egypt thousands of years ago. This paper will discuss the history of the pyramids, the Pharaohs at the times of construction, and how they were built. The Pyramids of Giza were built on the Giza Plateau by three different Pharaohs. Before the Giza pyramids were ever thought of the first pyramid to be built in Egypt was constructed by a king known as Sneferu, this took place during the old kingdom; his reign was from 2613 BC 2589 BC(History). According to Professor Joshua J. Mark, Sneferu had made a few pyramids before his best one. However, all his previous ones failed due to many complications with the structure, such as the angle being wrong. This theory was that there were no slaves doing all the hard work, but the farmers did most of the hard work when it came to building the pyramids. This was due to the annual flood of the Nile (Kinnaer). When the Nile would flood, then the Pharaoh would provide work for the farmers to build his monuments ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most interesting adaptions comes from the 1950 s classic made by Walt Disney. Disney s version really captured the imaginative atmosphere the young boy thrived in; giving us a thrill ride of adventure. In his first appearance in the Disney universe; Peter, is never given a formal origin; instead we are presented with tales of his adventures in Neverland as he fights against his arch nemesis: Captain Hook, as told by Wendy Darling. • 8. Coral Reef Research Paper Kelp forests and coral reefs both belong in delicate environments, which when disturbed can have catastrophic consequences for both of them. Certain processes can cause the eradication of both kelp forests and coral reefs, as will be discussed in the following paragraphs, including sewage runoff, changes in water chemistry, and land derived material from soil erosion. Coral reefs around the world are in constant decline, and this is a major problem. This is happening due to the direct and indirect effects of overfishing, and pollution that has derived from land. Both these factors have decimated the cover of coral reef species for over two centuries. Often involved in the degradation of coral reefs is a shift from the usual extensive covers of the coral, to extensive covers of microalgae. Examples from around the world have shown that corals can persist and survive through the long term, chronic stressors, such as overfishing and eutrophication, however cannot seem to survive and recover from short term, acute disturbances, such as storm damage or freshwater run off). This is due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This may explain the frequent dominance that micro algae have over coral. While neither enhanced nutrients nor sedimentation are good for corals, their combined effect is far worse. Coral reefs that experience loss of herbivores or flood plumes are subjected to very rapid micro algae growth in the summer. If there has been a substantial reduction in herbivores, and no way to inhibit the growth of algae, the increase in cover would still occur in certain places (i.e. the Great Barrier Reef), with or without the change in nutrient availability. This indicates that increased nutrients in the waters are not necessary for regime shifts in many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Talisman should investigate about how independent Kurdistan is from the rest of Iraq, if there is any singe of conflict between Kurdistan and the government of Iraq, Talisman then should clear it out with the Iraqi government. It is as I mentioned an unstable region, so there is a great chance of conflicts. Talisman should clear out how the shares after oil discovery will be divided, since that they are not sure of finding oil or not, there might be some conflicts after the oil discovery, simply because oil is demanded all over the world, so the Iraqi government might change it s mind and decide to get its share of the profit. Talisman should use the media to their side before any other conflict appears. There should be some meetings with NGOs to clear out Talismans policy and intentions in entering Iraq. There has to be a communication between Talisman and the NGOs to make sure that the company is away from funding any civil wars. That way, shareholders will feel even more comfortable, and the company will not risk its reputation. V. The past decade has seen a growing move away from such distinct male/female expectations, however in areas such as sport the differences and problems that still exist in our gender ideology are much more visible. • 14. Analysis Of Rebecca West s The Return Of The Soldier In Rebecca West s novel, The Return of the Soldier the reader is introduced to a man named Chris Baldry who suffers from shell shock fighting in the war. When he returns home, he has no recollection of the past fifteen years of his life. What he remembers, is being in love with a woman named Margaret, the daughter of an innkeeper. However, what he inevitably comes home to is a wife named Kitty and a cousin named Jenny who have been earnestly awaiting his return. Although West portrays Chris to be a victim so to speak within the novel due to his amnesia, the real trauma that he would experience was awaiting him at home, back at Baldry Court. Chris return would lead to a major upset in the lives of the women in his life, but for himself as well despite the fact he cannot account for a little over a decade of his past. When Chris returns home, West makes it abundantly clear through the accounts of all of the characters that he is not the man he was when he left to fight in the war. His own cousin Frank even says, I never realized the horror of warfare until I saw my cousin... (pg. 40). Even Jenny admits that he doesn t seem to be the same when she admits, By nights I saw Chris running across the brown rottenness of No Man s Land, starting back here because he trod upon a hand, not even looking there because of the awfulness of an unburied head... • 15. Rhetorical Analysis Of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address Could the North and South ever come together again and unite as one nation after the Civil War? The purpose of Lincoln s Second Inaugural Address was to offer his promising predictions for reconciliation with the South and his vision of the future. Lincoln utilizes strong and elevated diction to clearly articulate his vision for the future, with choices like dreaded and sought . Furthermore, Lincoln s optimistic tone offers a beacon of hope, with examples like, achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations, and to bind up the nation s wounds . The purpose of the address is achieved through parallelism and appeal to religion, too. Lincoln s diction, one of his most powerful literary devices, is employed prominently throughout the entire passage. Lincoln s elevated diction is used so he can communicate his thoughts openly and plainly. For instance, he says all dreaded and sought to avoid the Civil War. This establishes the war as a terrible evil but not the Confederacy. His word choice helps humanize the Confederacy, the Union s enemy. The black population is addressed as colored slaves in order to appeal to the South and their deep pride in slavery. Simultaneously, to appeal to the North who despised slavery, he says the black population was part of the whole population . The purpose of Lincoln s diction here is to attempt to bring the Union and the Confederacy together as it appeases to both side s beliefs. Also, Lincoln chooses to say insurgents , which has a more neutral connotation behind it, instead of calling the Confederacy the enemy or another derogatory term in order not to alienate the South. When the Civil War ends, the two sides would have to reconcile, and they can t do that if Lincoln depicts the South as the enemy. Lincoln s optimistic tone attempts to persuade the audience into forgiving the South and making peace. For instance, Lincoln says, to bind up the nation s wounds, , a bright and encouraging quote for the country s future. By referring to the Union and Confederacy as a one entity, it depicts them as a single united country. What Lincoln also suggests is that the Civil War is not fatal and that the ... Paul addresses three major theological issues in his letter: the supremacy of Jesus, the redemptive work of the cross and Christian ethics. Colosse was a little village, next to a popular city on the on the banks of the river Lycus. Aside from their agricultural life style, their neighbors the Laodiceans, and the growing threat of Gnosticism within the community, very little is known about the people of Colosse. • 19. Three Major Eras From the 13th century to the 18th century the art world has three major eras, Renaissance, Baroque, and Rococo. Each era has its own characteristics, the development of scientific knowledge has a big influence on them. When a scientific expression method was taken for the first time, it became a trend and the same method and expression method were adopted for many art objects. That trend also became a characteristic of that era. By using scientific knowledge development and analysis, art objects became more realistic. In the Renaissance era, the line perspective has been used for paintings since around the 15th century. The perspective technique developed from architectural industry. Not only was the composition seen by the eyes, but also the scientific theoretical perspective projection method used for the space composition of paintings. Holy Trinity drawn by Masaccio of the Renaissance era incorporates scientific perspectives into the vault part. Another example would be a Mona Lisa. • 21. Analysis Of Mars And Venus Surprised By Vultron Prompt 1 First Paragraph Principles of Art The aesthetic experience of the painting Mars and Venus Surprised by Vultron by Hendrick De Clerck boldly explores the human condition, which during the renaissance was a mindset that existed in a society driven to find moral balance between our desires and the desires of God. Stories that originated from mythology are formed to illustrate the difference between right and wrong. The artist emphasizes the never ending battle between heaven and hell and good and bad through the dramatic passionate tale of Mars and Venus. This Juxtaposition is illustrated in the artist s use of color. For instance, the intense reds of the bed canopy against the peaceful blues of the sheets they lie on. As you can see, the juxtaposition of the good and evil that resides in the hearts of man in his choice of chiaroscuro, or value, which he uses to heavily contrast the luminous features of the painting with darkness. It is also clear to see in the contrast in line work and texture, for example, the following lines of the sheets against the round, sculpted flesh of the humans depicted. This painting reflects realism and religious themes were of high importance in this specific era of the sixteenth century. WC 203 This specific piece of art is an example of classical discipline and individual expression in the renaissance time period. The artist expresses individuality to express mood especially in the expressions he chose to paint with great care on each subject s face. The artist seemed to put a lot of emphasis on how each subject was feeling at the time. The lovers are distraught and ashamed as they are caught in the act. Her husband is upset at the betrayal, and inquiring in his gaze to God what punishments should be sought, while Mars has his arm around her, as if to protect her. Though Venus is defiant of her marriage by cheating on her husband with Mars, it is a temporary validation that came from lust, symbolized by the artist with bowls of fruit in the foreground by the bed. The intensity of these feelings are done justice with a massive scale panel as his canvas, with all these elements combined, the painting ultimately portrays the complicated war between good and evil in the ... The British wanted to pass a bill to prevent Indians from voting, so Gandhi led a drive that gathered 10,000 signatures to oppose the bill (Deats 25). Nabokov uses Lolita s tone towards Humbert to prove she does love him even while she is saying things about him that she doesn t love. Nabokov ultimately uses Lolita s dialogue to show hidden meaning in Lolita s letter. Lolita feels very strongly about religion and doesn t appreciate he fact that Humbert is an extremely unreligious man. Last Sunday in Church bad you who refused to come (Nabokov). • 37. Jonah Vs. Jonah In The Book Of Nineveh The people simply humbled themselves before God and He had mercy on them cancelling His judgment. Jonah had wanted Nineveh to be destroyed by God and this would prolong the life of the kingdom of Israel. But instead he was the main source of them hearing the message of repentance. He had preferred to die instead of fulfilling his divinely appointed mission. Now he had no one to blame for Nineveh s survival except himself and God s mercy. This made Jonah so angry that he was inconsolable and wanted to die. Jesus compared to Jonah In the book of Luke 11:29 32 (also found in Matthew 12:38 45) Jesus Himself speaks about Jonah. He then reminds God that he knew Gods character. That God was a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm and this was his reason for running away to Tarshish. Jonah then decides to go out of the city and wait and watch the outcome of Nineveh. While he was there God made a plant to grow up immediately and give him shade, bringing Jonah much joy. But when morning came God appointed a worm to eat it , then a strong wind and sun to beat down on Jonah till he fainted. At this point, Jonah still feels that it is better for him to die than live. There are many different types UNIX based operating systems, some of them being Mac OS, Ubuntu (Figure 1) and Solaris. Companies want to hire computer scientists familiar with the technology stack of the company, and having experience in the company s operating system is a very valuable skill. Also, using a UNIX based operating system build a certain set of skill sets, such as experience in using a UNIX terminal, that companies consider a must have skill for computer scientists. By having Windows as the operating system for computer science labs, NCUS is not providing the opportunity for students to experience using a different operating system, that might be operating system they use after graduation. Unfamiliarly with the work computer s operating system, not knowing how to perform simple tasks fast enough could have a significant effect on the programmer s work and the overall productivity of the company. • 39. Summary Of The Watchmaker Argument By William Paley The Watchmaker Argument by William Paley has been of great controversy because of its analogy between the creation of a watch and the creation of the universe. Paley s argument consists of the idea of there being a creator for everything, he uses the complicated composition of a watch as to prove that there has to be a watchmaker and therefore the complicated composition of the universe serves as to prove that there is in fact a Universe creator (God). Although Paley s argument is strong and valid, David Hume s opposing argument is more valid due to the premises he uses. Hume argues that it is impossible to compare something created by the human mind to something as complex as the universe simply because there is a lot about the creation of the universe that is unknown, unlike the creation of a house (or watch). William Paley uses the invention of a watch as an analogy to the invention of the universe. He argues that if we observe the very complicated and detailed design of the universe we can see that there was in fact a maker. Paley argues that the complicated structure of a watch is enough prove that there was a watch maker just like the complicated structure of the universe is prove enough to show that there is universe maker. Importance Of Erformance Tuning And Partitioning erformance tuning and partitioning go hand in hand, in that partitioning is one you can take to tune performance from a database level, so I will start out with explaining tuning and then go into detail about partitioning. Performance tuning can take place from a DBA perspective, at the full database level, or from a Developer perspective, on the level of individual packages/procedures/functions and SQL queries. Before initiating performance tuning, you need to know where your performance bottlenecks are. There are a number of ways a DBA can determine where the bottlenecks are, including AWR reports, which can show the DBA what areas show the highest wait times. Once the specific SQL statements or PL/SQL code has been targeted, we can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once a table is partitioned, it is easier and faster to access the data in the table, because a query can access just one or a group of partitions on the table, rather than accessing all of the data in the parent table. You can even specify a partition to use in your query. Queries can also work in parallel on the table, running through multiple partitions at once, which is especially helpful if you find you can t avoid a full table scan. So, even if your partitions aren t set up logically to your query, there is a performance improvement to partitioning. There are several options for the type of partitioning you can do. One common method is to partition by a range of data, for instance a date range. This is helpful if your table has a lot of historical data, and only the newest data is normally accessed or updated, rather than accessing ALL of the historical data, you can access just the latest data. It s possible, on the other hand, that your table is usually accessed by a column with distinct values, such as a department id, in which case it might be better to use list partitioning, or you could have a composite partition, such as a range list partition, such as organizing the partitions by department id and a date. There is a drawback to partitioning in that you have to specify each of the partitions. If you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The outside was gorgeous, it was all glass and surrounding the hotel was the pacific ocean .When you walk in you see that the floor is made of glass, the walls are made of glass, the ceiling is made of glass, even the tables and chairs are made of glass. Right beside the front desk is a big waterfall with beautiful blue water pouring out of it, at the end of the waterfall there is a place where you can sit down. There was a king size bed and on the opposite wall there was a fireplace with a tv on the mantle.
