Los Angeles Riots 1992
The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 caused an uproar in the United States due to all the violence, and cost
the state of California over a billion dollars in damage (history.com). The Riots were caused by a
video that was leaked to the public of a black man that was assaulted by LAPD officers. Chaos raged
on the streets of Los Angeles for a total of three days until the President of the United States stepped
in to bring some order back to the city.
On March 3rd of 1991, Rodney King, a felon on parole, led four LAPD officers on a high speed chase
through the streets of Los Angeles before finally surrendering. The officers found Rodney to be
intoxicated, upon trying to arrest him he was uncooperative, and resisting arrest. This led officers, ...

The traffic was blocked and hundreds of African American rioters beat dozens of motorists, and white
truck driver, Reginald Denny. The Los Angeles Police Department was slow to respond to the call
which allowed the violence to spread to more parts of the city. The Governor at the time, Pete Wilson,
was forced to deploy the National Guard by the request of the Mayor, Tom Bradley, and a curfew was
declared. The morning after, numerous fires had been burning throughout the city, more than a dozen
people were killed, and over a hundred innocents were injured. The chaotic violence continued for the
next twenty four hours, until the President of the United States stepped in. On May 1, 1992, George
Bush ordered military troops, as well as riot trained federal officers to the city of Los Angeles to
contain the chaos that was happening in the city. At the end of the next day the troops were successful
in containing the situation and getting the city back under control. In a total of three days of anarchy,
fifty five people were killed, two thousand were injured, and over seven thousand were arrested. The
events that occured cost the city over one billion dollars in property damage, and nearly four thousand
buildings were burned in the process. The court system of Los Angeles decided to redo the trial of
Rodney King to soothe the anger of the rioters, and bring some peace to the

Fleur Dialectical Journal
Throughout the evening, Fleur noticed the Malfoy boy watching Harry, and as soon as the headmaster
dismissed them, he made straight for her three charges. So, she followed. Potter, the Prophet says you
ve gone round the twist, the boy jeered outside the Great Hall s doors. Harry ignored the comment and
kept walking. Scarehead! I m talking to you . . . You owe us an explanation for killing Cedric. A
collective gasp escaped the gathering students as Harry stopped. Fleur fought the urge to curse Malfoy
herself for invoking the name of her friend to hurt someone else. Ron tugged Harry s shoulder and
whispered into his ear, then faced Malfoy. Say that again. A nasty sneer crept across Malfoy s lips.

Homeless People In The Homeless Society
The homeless population in the U.S. does not only consider the humans out on the streets, but also the
ones in emergency shelters, transitional housing, in cars, and more. Over six hundred thousand
individuals are currently homeless in the United States. In our current society, people often become
homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. Such as individuals that identify as LGBTQ,
victims of domestic violence, and unaffordable housing throughout America. Different sets of
problems and issues have arisen over time for the homeless individuals as our world continues to
advance and grow day to day. The LGBTQ identified students face more than no home, but lifelong
hardships. After coming out to his parents that he was gay, Michael Miller couch surfed among friends
and teachers his whole senior year in High School(Clemmitt 318 ). Being denied in his family, left
Michael with no home and neglection. This issue of no acceptance between these families is leaving a
strong impact of no self confidence or trust within these students. Furthermore the rejection
throughout these families because of the students sexual orientation is leaving these young adults
homeless. Not to mention, our society has learned to become more accepting and welcoming to the
LGBTQ community. This not only gives courage to these kids to come out to their families, but
develops the instinct that this place called home is somewhere where they should be accepted and
loved for who they are.

The Chimney Sweeper By William Blake
The end of the eighteenth century was a dangerous time to be a child living in England; common folk
everywhere were struggling to get by. Parents could not afford to feed and care for their children, so
mothers and fathers had no choice but to sell their sons and daughters. Unfortunately, the career that
children were forced into was chimney sweeping, which had a terrifyingly high mortality rate. The
poem, The Chimney Sweeper , written by William Blake, tells the heartbreaking story of a child who
is sold into chimney sweeping at a young age and leads a devastating life. After reading Blake s poem
about the sweepers, one may begin to wonder how it was possible for children to be treated so poorly,
and how the king of that time could allow conditions for his people to get so bad. Thomas Paine
shared his opinion on the caste system in his work Rights of Man. Paine explains that there are plenty
of people that have lived undesirable lives for the king who are not acknowledged in politics, like the
common folk who have been let down by the flawed caste system, including the chimney sweepers
and other laborers. Because of the immense inequality taking place during this time, simply through
birthrights, it becomes an important topic to focus in on. The works of Blake and Paine together give
the audiences a new point of view on England s political system at the end of the eighteenth century.
These works protest the push away from the establishment and a push towards representing

Different Theories About Learning Styles Essay
Introduction Learning style is an individual s unique approach to learning based on strengths,
weaknesses, and, preferences. Learning styles explains the concept that every person learns
differently. Assessments of learning style typically ask individuals to evaluate what sort of information
presentation they prefer, and, what kind of mental activity they find most engaging, and, attractive for
them. Theories about learning styles agree that all people can be classified according to their style of
learning. In this paper different theories about learning styles are reviewed briefly. At the end, Gendlin
experiential theory is reviewed in detail.

Essay #3: Cookies are widely used to track consumers and profile their preferences and interests.
Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of the use of cookies for both businesses and consumers.
Introduction:
Cookies have become an online phenomenon. They have many benefits and drawbacks for both
businesses and consumers in modern society. Everyone that has access to the internet, a phone or
laptop and uses the Google search engine to browse for their content of interest, is prone to the
implementation of cookies on their virtual profiles. Cookies are controversially beneficial to
businesses more so than consumers; however, consumers do get suggestions/advertisements of the
content they are interested in occasionally.
Consumers often use a search engine such as Google to browse for content that applies to their

The Healing Of Americ A Global Quest For Better, Cheaper,...
In The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better, Cheaper, and Fairer Health Care (2009), the
author of the book, T.R. Reid travels to industrialized democracies to discuss the different methods of
health care delivery system used in these developed countries and compare them to the health care
system of the United States. According to T.R. Reid (2009), the thesis of this book is that we can find
cost effective ways to cover every American by borrowing ideas from foreign models of health care
(Reid, 2009, p. 11). This thesis illustrates that the American health care system can manage health care
costs effectively and provide care to all by using some of the successful health care delivery models of
foreign nations. The purpose of this book analysis is to discuss the four different health care models
presented in this book and provide my prioritization or ranking of these models. This analysis also
aims to investigate a case known as the Nikki White case described in this book and discuss the
lessons learned from it. Furthermore, this analysis is going to provide my remarks on the, An Apple a

conclusion on the basic premise of the book along with my take away messages that I will remember
into my future as a Public Health professional. The Healing of America: A Global Quest for Better,

Individualism and Collectivism in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand
Never ask people, not about your work. In a world where individuality is Poisoned by the ends of
society, Howard Roark displays a faint glimmer of hope, whereas Lois cook epitomizes collectivism.
Roark s demeanor, personality, ideals, and perseverance all pin him as a shining example of
individualism. Roark clashes with the concept of conformity, a widespread phenomenon in
contemporary American society, which is one of the underlying causes of collectivist dictatorship.
Lois Cook is a writer of nonsense who exercises nonconformity and is under the control of Toohey.
However, her pursuit of nonconformity, often thought to be the opposite of blind obedience, is merely
a variation on the same theme. In Fountainhead, Ayn Rand explores the theme of individualism versus
collectivism, not only in politics but in mans soul; the psychological motivations and the basic
premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist. Howard Roark is an adamant
architect, who believes that one s wholeness is always reflected in one s work. Roark practices
architecture with a modern style, and throughout the novel, he is opposed by people who blindly
believe in tradition, in the architectural styles of the past. But he displays diligence and integrity in his
choosing to not let laws dictate a single detail. His buildings were not Classical, Gothic, nor
Renaissance. They were only Howard Roark. Howard Roark is a manifestation of the ideal man, who

A Clean Well-Lighted Place
The waiters in the story A Clean, Well Lighted Place say a lot about how younger and older people are
different. For example, the younger waiter seems extremely impatient while he is serving the old man
because he is in a hurry to get home to his wife. While the older waiter is in no hurry for the old man
to leave because he doesn t mind his presence. Also, the younger waiter seems to only care about
himself, rather than his customers satisfaction. Unlike the older waiter who shows respect towards his
customers . The younger waiter believes life is valuable and his time on earth is precious. He also
believes old age is disgusting and disturbing. The younger waiter s attitude towards the old man is
cruel because he acts immature and disrespectful. For example, the young man refuses to serve the old
man another brandy because he wants to go home and sleep. All the younger waiter cares about is his
youth, confidence, and job. The younger waiter, not once, cares about the old man s loneliness, or the
older waiter s depression, because they are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The old man, according to the two waiters, had a wife and a family. All the old man has now is his
niece, who saved him from a suicide attempt. The old man loves to sit in the café, while drinking

wind . The old man also enjoys staying at the café late at night because he has nothing better to do.
Even though the old man is alive and well, he feels lonely because the love of his life is gone. He has
no one to go home to, so he sits in the café, looking at the lives of other people. For instance, the old
man saw a girl and a soldier go by in the street. The street light shone on the brass number on his
collar. The girl wore no head covering and hurried beside him. Although the old man tried to hang
himself and seems lonesome, he managed to survive and keep on living life to the

Introduction
Brand management is basically a plan to uplift and to promote the respected brand in the market. It is
necessary to build a good brand among several competitors in the market because it leads to
development of a relationship with the target market. Target market is a very essential as well as
crucial aspect for a company as it decides the overall growth of the company. Brand management is a
broad concept and it has its own elements that actually give a meaning to it. Without these elements, a
brand cannot exist. These elements are brand name, brand logo, packaging, character etc.
These are some of the most important elements of brand management and they have a direct impact on
the functioning of the company as well as on the brand itself. Brand management seeks to build an
emotional connectivity with the consumer by managing the tangible and intangible characteristics of

Analysis Of Michael Ondaatje s The Skin Of A Lion
In Michael Ondaatje s In the Skin of a Lion, the play of light and shadow are reoccurring motifs that
identify and relate to the general themes of remembering and forgetting. H. Porter Abbott has defined
motif as a discrete thing, image, or phrase that is repeated in a narrative , where in contrast, a theme is
a more generalized...concept that is suggested by... motifs (237). Abbott emphasizes that Themes are
implicit in motifs, but not the other way around (95). In In the Skin of a Lion, Ondaatje emphasizes
the class struggles endured by the immigrant workers and the internal struggles faced by the central
characters. The motif of chiaroscuro, the play of light and shadow, reflects how the characters try to
forget their past and personal burdens, and strive to recall joyful memories, which aides them in
embracing new beginnings and creating new memories. I will argue that the motif of light relates to
the theme of remembering and the motif of shadow identifies with the theme of forgetting. I will show
these relationships by analyzing the imagery and context of four central scenes in which light and
shadow play a significant role. Firstly, I will discuss the event of the nun falling off the unfinished
bridge. Secondly, I will consider the candle light vigil held for the deceased bridge works. Thirdly, I
will discuss the working conditions of the tunnel workers in the section Palace of Purification , and
lastly, I will analyze the concluding scene in which Patrick and Hana

A Report On Malaysian Flight 370
I have chosen Malaysian flight 370 that was a scheduled air carrier flight on March 8, 2014 from
Kuala Lumpur International Airport near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing Capital International
Airport in Beijing, China. Some of the theories for the aircraft going missing are hijacking,
mechanical, pilot error or etc.... Conspiracy theories vary from the aircraft being hijacked and taken to
a remote location and that the aircraft never crashed there are also theirs that the Malaysian flight 17
that was shot down a few month later has a connection that they were disposing of the aircraft when
they shot down flight 370 and it had nothing to do with flight 17. There are theories that the aircraft
just vanished that it had nothing to do with a ground to air missile, that the plane just vanished. A few
that I think are possible are that the plane was hijacked and then crashed into the Ocean or that the
aircraft was shot down by someone possibly on accident and that is why no one has taken
responsibility. It is very difficult to say what happened to the aircraft due to their being very little
evidence of the aircraft to research. Another theory is that the Captain of the Aircraft committed
suicide and 238 lives with him. This would not be an unheard of thing it has happened in the past and
was done by someone in the Asian Culture. Malaysian Airlines flight 370 was a flight on March 8,
2014 that went missing and only one part, a flaperon, has been found in nearly the two year

Conflict Resolution And Conflict Resolution
The ability to work well with other people within a work environment is fundamental to productivity
and effectiveness in patient care (Marquis Huston, 2015). However, within active environments where
interactions take place among many people all the time, there is a greater chance of conflict. Marquis
and Huston (2015) mention that within a work environment there often is a variety of different values,
beliefs, backgrounds, and goals coming from each individual. This leads to the expected outcome that
there will be conflict. Within my professional practice regarding leadership, I want to apply conflict
resolution.
Conflict to me is something that I would like to avoid all together. Working at a senior living, I am the
nurse manager, meaning I am in charge of the Certified Nurse Aids (CNAs). When going to work
there are many tasks that I must complete during my shift and the last thing I want to add to it would
be a conflict between the CNAs. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not. The types of
conflicts vary including, intergroup, intrapersonal, and interpersonal conflicts. The most common type
is interpersonal conflict which is a conflict between two or more people with differing values, goal,
and beliefs (Marquis Huston, 2015). There has been hostility and arguing on the floor, and this cannot
be tolerated or avoided. Regrettably, I have avoided a conflict and the work flow of the night was
disrupted. However, I have had a positive experience as

Understanding the reasons behind domestic violence can bring about predictors and help provide
solutions for future education and deterrence. Intimate partner violence is not a one dimensional
subject, most often, a victim is not being abused by a partner out of just emotional outbursts there are
many more factors that come into play when it comes to domestic violence. Abramsky et al.,
interviewed a total of 24,097 women from 10 different countries using standardized questionnaires the
countries of Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Japan, Namibia, Peru, Republic of Tanzania, Samoa, Serbia,
Montenegro and Thailand. The questions asked were in regards to IPV with the women s past and
present partners, whether they experienced specific violent acts, and if so whether this had happened
in the 12 months preceding the survey (Abramsky et al., 2011). The women s answers were compared
to one another for analysis and risk factors were deduced from associations within the answered
surveys.

Post-World War Eras
The post World War eras, as described in Norton, were transformational times for the United States.
U.S. engagement in the world opened up the country to new ideas, advancements in technology and
forced the country into a time of self reflection. Engagement in the world had opened up new roles for
the individual and shifted the boundaries of how people interacted with each other, and shifted the
boundaries of how people viewed themselves. These new roles and boundaries would go on to affect

Sir Francis Galton (1869, 1883) quantified traits that were assumed to be correlated, and developed
the first comprehensive test of intelligence. By the end of the 19th century, the foundation was laid for
modern day intelligence testing (Wicket, 1998). In 1905, the French psychologist Alfred Binet
published the first modern intelligence test to identify students who needed special help in coping with
the school curriculum (Neiser, et al. 1996). Shortly thereafter in 1908 and 1911, Alfred Binet and
Theodore Simon published revisions of the Binet intelligence test (Wicket). The mental age concept
was adopted to express the results in adequate units. The concept is based on an individual s
performance in comparison to the average performance of individuals in a specific chronological age
group (Kaplin, Saccuzzo). A further refinement of the Stanford Binet scale and translation (for
American culture) was published in 1916 by Lewis M. Terman, who adopted Stern s proposal that an
individual s intelligence level be measured as an intelligence quotient (I. Q.). The IQ score presumably
represented an individual s rate of mental development as a quotient, between mental age and actual
chronological age times 100 (to remove the decimal). Terman s test, known colloquially as the
Stanford Binet test, formed the basis for modern intelligence

Effects of external environment on company s strategy

The development of any organization require new ways of orientation of a business, requires

Analyzing Herman Melville s Writing Style
Every writer has their own writing style; for example, Herman Melville s style can be explained using
complex diction, lengthy syntax, repeated ideas, description and characterization. First off, Melville
can use simple words like, cautiously, animation, and excited, (Melville 3 4) but he mainly uses
complex words such as, countenance, inarticulate, and convulsively (3 4). Furthermore, Melville
seems to be very fond of using long sentences such as,
Receiving the topmaul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the mainmast with the hammer uplifted in
one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: Whosoever of

Do ye know the white whale then, Tash? (5). He most likely including shorter sentences because
usually when people are talking to one another, they aren t yelling full paragraphs for every thought.
To further evaluate Melville s writing, he also uses a lot of repeated words in order to get his point
across. For example, on page one he uses pacing, tread, stride, and rounds to describe the frantic
movements of Ahab, however it could also be taken as Ahab s thoughts running chaotically through
his mind. Later on, it goes to say that Ahab feels, feels, feels, as proof that Ahab thinks with his heart
and not his head. In addition, he also uses parallel structure to strengthen his writing style. For
example, he says Cut your seizings and draw the poles, ye harpooneers! (11). Another example of
parallel structure was, There s a most special, a most cunning, oh, a most malicious difference! (13),
he used parallel structure to create a more uniformed and strong writing style. Lastly, Melville uses
literary devices to make his writing style more interesting. One example of the literary devices he uses
is description. A descriptive sentence would

Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques...
If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the
world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places.
It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn
and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional
management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading
both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools
really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in
today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication
consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned
about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When
children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the
effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong.
It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used
is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he
does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued

Midterm Patient Quality And Safety Paper
Midterm Patient Quality and Safety Paper Over time the health care industry has become more
complex. Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in
turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing
shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors
and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking,
The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on
the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and
collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that
are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014).
Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their
family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in
control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and
values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Creating a partnership with a patient that allows them to grasp
the goals and methods of their plan of care and includes them in the decision making process can
prevent errors from occurring. This gives the patient the opportunity to correct any

Delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives
1. Introduction
The primary focus of this term paper consists of two parts. First, review chitosan based drug delivery
system for the delivery of traditional low molecular weight drugs based on a review paper titled
targeted delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives (Advanced Drug delivery
reviews, 2010). Second, critique an original research paper about hydrotropic oligomer conjugated
glycol chitosan as a carrier for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery, which was published in Journal of
Controlled Release in 2013 (title: Enhanced drug loading and therapeutic efficacy of hydrotropic
oligomer conjugated glycol chitosan nanoparticles for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery).
Chitosan, a linear aminopolysaccharide composed of randomly distributed (1→4) linked D
glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine units, is obtained by the deacetylation of chitin, a structural
element in the exoskeleton of crustaceans, which is the second most abundant natural biopolymer after
cellulose (Fig. 1). The most easily exploited sources of chitin are the protective shells of crabs and
shrimp. The primary aliphatic amines of chitosan can be protonated under acidic conditions (amine

The two most common ways of execution is lethal injection and the electric chair. The electric chair is

to die. At the end of the nineteenth century electricity started to become more effective. For more than

The Destruction Of Pompeii
Given the historical significance of the devastation of Mount Vesuvius destruction of Ancient

Education Has An Significant Correlation On Health Outcomes.
Education has an significant correlation on health outcomes. The following presented case study will
demonstrate an example of how the Social Determinant of Health (SDOH) directly impacts health
status. As described in Appendix A, Mrs. Smith is a 68 year old female who was diagnosed with type I
diabetes 37 years ago. She has developed a pressure ulcer on her left foot, which has increasingly
worsened and become necrotic in certain areas. She has had uncontrolled diabetes for many years and
often does not prescribe to her medication regiment because it doesn t really work anyways. She has a
long history of neuropathy resulting from her poorly controlled diabetes. She also has difficulty

Research indicates that low education that occurs early in childhood has long term implications on
health and mortality. According the Canadian facts, when an individual has a higher education, they
have improved health outcomes. This is often related to the fact that education increases income,
employment and provides improved job security. Education also produces enhanced literacy.
Education allows for individuals to have an improved comprehension of the societal aspects that
influence their health. Furthermore, by having improved education, a patient can advocate for their
health, implement healthier lifestyle choices and seek out appropriate resources to enhance their
health. The literature also demonstrates that poor education is equated with increased hospitalization
stays, the use of emergency services and reduced medication compliance (Mikkonen, Raphael, 2010).
Recommendations for Change at Level of the Healthcare Provider
The recommendations for change to practice at the level of the provider would include first treating
the underlying problem that Mrs. Smith was admitted for. According to the literature, a progressively
worsening diabetic foot ulcer requires implementing a multitude of strategies to prevent amputation of
the limb. Adequate wound management, including debridement if required, and offloading techniques
should be instilled for Mrs. Smith. Furthermore, education by the provider would be of critical
importance for

India And Jap Rule Of Law
III. Rule of Law in India and Japan
The Rule of Law has not been compromised by the culture or socioeconomic conditions in India or
Japan. India and Japan sought to achieve Rule of Law to embody the values, institutions and
principles in a modern liberal democratic country in order to modernize and adapt. Rule of law has
two main functions, to protect its citizens and stop unequitable use of state power by remaining
transparent, and, to protect its citizens with enforcement structures. In India, Western ideals and
institutions were welcomed and successfully integrated with local culture. In Japan, transplant of rule
of law ideals only occurred post war and the transplant of western legal systems were in the course of
colonization and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NEED EXAMPLES OF THIS
The Constitution of Japan does not have any express provisions for the Rule of Law. However, it has
insinuated in a number of Articles within the Constitution. For example, in Articles 1 to 8 the Emperor
remains as a symbol of the state and carries out functions of the state but in contrast to the Meiji
Constitution, his role is mainly ceremonial and the Emperor does not have any powers relating to the
government. This indicates that justice is intended to be administered by impartial and independent
justice institutions and kept separate from the Emperor and government bodies who are held
accountable under the law in Article 41 to 95 of the Constitution of Japan. Specifically, in Article 98,
Supreme Law implies Rule of Law upholds the accountability of government bodies and agents where
all government actions are ruled under one Constitution. Another example is the incorporation of
fundamental human rights in Article 97, which asserts the liberal doctrine of human rights and protects
individual rights and liberties.
IV. Differences between India and Japan
India and Japan are both culturally different and different socioeconomically, but both countries have
achieved Rule of Law. Some of the differences stated in Chens article about the Pathways of Western
Liberal Constitutional Developments in Asia are that the founding fathers of the Indian Constitution

So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans Summary
There is many controversy about how many mexicans are taking away white people jobs. In the poem
So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans the persona is explaining the idea on how americans are
making mexicans look bad as if they are doing crimes for simply trying to find a stable job to provide
a home and food for their families. They come with the hopes for a better future for themselves and for
their children not to be treated inhumanely. I argue that they are not stealing the jobs from americans
but are only looking for a better way of live for them and their families. Mexicans only take the jobs
that the americans don t want and that is underpaid basically anything that ll help them live day by
day. Some Mexicans come to America to escape the harsh living back in their home country. Although,
Americans have a reason to be angry about mexicans coming into their country it shouldn t be a
reason to make the Mexican people look bad. In the poem it says I hear Mexicans are taking your jobs
away. Do they sneak into town at night, and as you re walking home with a whore, do they mug you, a
knife at your throat, saying, I want your job? . This gives us the idea that the American people are
portraying us as criminals as if they go into their town and threaten them for their jobs. Moreover,
mexicans only want anything that ll help their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Human Nature In Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh was mostly divine but shared minimal characteristics of a god.
Such characteristics were bold physical structures and the strength of a wild bull which he inherited
from his mother, Ninsun, the cow goddess. Everything else such as his characteristics, mentality, and
actions mirrors ours, humans which makes him more like us than a god. His actions portray the burden
of the flawed human nature that we all carry such as being aggressive, competitive, and running away
from our fears.
Initially, Gilgamesh was known as the tortuous, accomplished, and competitive king of Uruk who
drove people out of their sanity and sought trouble. He frequently held competitions to determine the
mightiest of all in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, by agreeing to bet his life on the success of his quest, Gilgamesh reveals the desire for
being remembered by humans which are specified in the statement, I must set my hand to cutting a
cedar tree, I must establish eternal fame (II. 189 190). Being famous is not a necessity, but a want. It s
just the nature of human to not be satisfied with anything that we have. Something deep inside us
always desires for more. Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, instead of creating the reputation of a kind,
considerate, generous king, he decided to slay a tremendous monster and tried to impress others
instead. It s the most common mistake that we humans always make. We tend to be so busy
impressing others and striving for their cheers with such frequency, that we forget to be ourselves and
think before we act.We often feel self conscious and inferior to ourselves after we experience failure,
which we fail to tolerate. Impressing others and having the ought to be seen in a positive perspective is
what makes us compete against one another which might not always be morally right. Sometimes it s
better to be the best together rather than ruining relationships due to the consequence of proving to the
world that you re finessed. Gilgamesh harassing young girls and women of his kingdom implies that it
s also an aspect of the human nature to be aggressive and compel others to do something for their
favor. Although we are known to be the only

An Analysis Of The Unknown Citizen By F. H. Auden
In the world today, society has created individuals that conform to the expected norms and those that
rebel against them. In each of the pieces selected there is a character that conforms to meet the needs
of the society. A conformist is someone who follows the rules that are given to them without any
complaints. Each of the three literary writings has a character that is considered rebellious within the
norms of society. A rebellious person is someone who does not follow the rules that are given to them.
The poem The Unknown Citizen by W. H. Auden is mainly about an unnamed man who is a
conformist, because he listens to all the rules that are made for the society. On the other hand, the
short story A P by John Updike and the play Antigone by Sophocles there is a conformist character
which enforces the rules set in place, and a rebellious character which goes against the principles of
society. Each author depicts a character to represent the conformist and rebellious individuals within
today s society.
Within the three different literary writings there is a character that acts as a conformist. W.H. Auden
created a main character in The Unknown Citizen that does not appear to want to do anything for
himself, but rather for the others within his community. In line five W.H. Auden states, for in
everything he did, he served the Greater Community (497), meaning this man is known to be a good
person because he did not just do something for himself, but for the

Los Angeles Riots 1992 The Los Angeles Riots of 1992 caused an uproar in the United States due to all the violence, and cost the state of California over a billion dollars in damage (history.com). The Riots were caused by a video that was leaked to the public of a black man that was assaulted by LAPD officers. Chaos raged on the streets of Los Angeles for a total of three days until the President of the United States stepped in to bring some order back to the city. On March 3rd of 1991, Rodney King, a felon on parole, led four LAPD officers on a high speed chase through the streets of Los Angeles before finally surrendering. The officers found Rodney to be intoxicated, upon trying to arrest him he was uncooperative, and resisting arrest. This led officers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The traffic was blocked and hundreds of African American rioters beat dozens of motorists, and white truck driver, Reginald Denny. The Los Angeles Police Department was slow to respond to the call which allowed the violence to spread to more parts of the city. The Governor at the time, Pete Wilson, was forced to deploy the National Guard by the request of the Mayor, Tom Bradley, and a curfew was declared. The morning after, numerous fires had been burning throughout the city, more than a dozen people were killed, and over a hundred innocents were injured. The chaotic violence continued for the next twenty four hours, until the President of the United States stepped in. On May 1, 1992, George Bush ordered military troops, as well as riot trained federal officers to the city of Los Angeles to contain the chaos that was happening in the city. At the end of the next day the troops were successful in containing the situation and getting the city back under control. In a total of three days of anarchy, fifty five people were killed, two thousand were injured, and over seven thousand were arrested. So, she followed. Potter, the Prophet says you ve gone round the twist, the boy jeered outside the Great Hall s doors. Harry ignored the comment and kept walking. Scarehead! I m talking to you . . . You owe us an explanation for killing Cedric. A collective gasp escaped the gathering students as Harry stopped. Fleur fought the urge to curse Malfoy herself for invoking the name of her friend to hurt someone else. Ron tugged Harry s shoulder and whispered into his ear, then faced Malfoy. Say that again. • 4. Homeless People In The Homeless Society The homeless population in the U.S. does not only consider the humans out on the streets, but also the ones in emergency shelters, transitional housing, in cars, and more. Over six hundred thousand individuals are currently homeless in the United States. In our current society, people often become homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. Such as individuals that identify as LGBTQ, victims of domestic violence, and unaffordable housing throughout America. Different sets of problems and issues have arisen over time for the homeless individuals as our world continues to advance and grow day to day. The LGBTQ identified students face more than no home, but lifelong hardships. After coming out to his parents that he was gay, Michael Miller couch surfed among friends and teachers his whole senior year in High School(Clemmitt 318 ). Being denied in his family, left Michael with no home and neglection. This issue of no acceptance between these families is leaving a strong impact of no self confidence or trust within these students. Furthermore the rejection throughout these families because of the students sexual orientation is leaving these young adults homeless. Not to mention, our society has learned to become more accepting and welcoming to the LGBTQ community. This not only gives courage to these kids to come out to their families, but develops the instinct that this place called home is somewhere where they should be accepted and loved for who they are. ... • 5. The Chimney Sweeper By William Blake The end of the eighteenth century was a dangerous time to be a child living in England; common folk everywhere were struggling to get by. Parents could not afford to feed and care for their children, so mothers and fathers had no choice but to sell their sons and daughters. Unfortunately, the career that children were forced into was chimney sweeping, which had a terrifyingly high mortality rate. The poem, The Chimney Sweeper , written by William Blake, tells the heartbreaking story of a child who is sold into chimney sweeping at a young age and leads a devastating life. After reading Blake s poem about the sweepers, one may begin to wonder how it was possible for children to be treated so poorly, and how the king of that time could allow conditions for his people to get so bad. Thomas Paine shared his opinion on the caste system in his work Rights of Man. Paine explains that there are plenty of people that have lived undesirable lives for the king who are not acknowledged in politics, like the common folk who have been let down by the flawed caste system, including the chimney sweepers and other laborers. Because of the immense inequality taking place during this time, simply through birthrights, it becomes an important topic to focus in on. The works of Blake and Paine together give the audiences a new point of view on England s political system at the end of the eighteenth century. These works protest the push away from the establishment and a push towards representing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Individualism and Collectivism in Fountainhead by Ayn Rand Never ask people, not about your work. In a world where individuality is Poisoned by the ends of society, Howard Roark displays a faint glimmer of hope, whereas Lois cook epitomizes collectivism. Roark s demeanor, personality, ideals, and perseverance all pin him as a shining example of individualism. Roark clashes with the concept of conformity, a widespread phenomenon in contemporary American society, which is one of the underlying causes of collectivist dictatorship. Lois Cook is a writer of nonsense who exercises nonconformity and is under the control of Toohey. However, her pursuit of nonconformity, often thought to be the opposite of blind obedience, is merely a variation on the same theme. In Fountainhead, Ayn Rand explores the theme of individualism versus collectivism, not only in politics but in mans soul; the psychological motivations and the basic premises that produce the character of an individualist or a collectivist. Howard Roark is an adamant architect, who believes that one s wholeness is always reflected in one s work. Roark practices architecture with a modern style, and throughout the novel, he is opposed by people who blindly believe in tradition, in the architectural styles of the past. But he displays diligence and integrity in his choosing to not let laws dictate a single detail. His buildings were not Classical, Gothic, nor Renaissance. They were only Howard Roark. • 12. Analysis Of Michael Ondaatje s The Skin Of A Lion In Michael Ondaatje s In the Skin of a Lion, the play of light and shadow are reoccurring motifs that identify and relate to the general themes of remembering and forgetting. H. Porter Abbott has defined motif as a discrete thing, image, or phrase that is repeated in a narrative , where in contrast, a theme is a more generalized...concept that is suggested by... motifs (237). Abbott emphasizes that Themes are implicit in motifs, but not the other way around (95). In In the Skin of a Lion, Ondaatje emphasizes the class struggles endured by the immigrant workers and the internal struggles faced by the central characters. The motif of chiaroscuro, the play of light and shadow, reflects how the characters try to forget their past and personal burdens, and strive to recall joyful memories, which aides them in embracing new beginnings and creating new memories. I will argue that the motif of light relates to the theme of remembering and the motif of shadow identifies with the theme of forgetting. I will show these relationships by analyzing the imagery and context of four central scenes in which light and shadow play a significant role. Firstly, I will discuss the event of the nun falling off the unfinished bridge. Secondly, I will consider the candle light vigil held for the deceased bridge works. Thirdly, I will discuss the working conditions of the tunnel workers in the section Palace of Purification , and lastly, I will analyze the concluding scene in which Patrick and Hana ... Conspiracy theories vary from the aircraft being hijacked and taken to a remote location and that the aircraft never crashed there are also theirs that the Malaysian flight 17 that was shot down a few month later has a connection that they were disposing of the aircraft when they shot down flight 370 and it had nothing to do with flight 17. There are theories that the aircraft just vanished that it had nothing to do with a ground to air missile, that the plane just vanished. A few that I think are possible are that the plane was hijacked and then crashed into the Ocean or that the aircraft was shot down by someone possibly on accident and that is why no one has taken responsibility. It is very difficult to say what happened to the aircraft due to their being very little evidence of the aircraft to research. Another theory is that the Captain of the Aircraft committed suicide and 238 lives with him. This would not be an unheard of thing it has happened in the past and was done by someone in the Asian Culture. Conflict Resolution And Conflict Resolution The ability to work well with other people within a work environment is fundamental to productivity and effectiveness in patient care (Marquis Huston, 2015). However, within active environments where interactions take place among many people all the time, there is a greater chance of conflict. Marquis and Huston (2015) mention that within a work environment there often is a variety of different values, beliefs, backgrounds, and goals coming from each individual. This leads to the expected outcome that there will be conflict. Within my professional practice regarding leadership, I want to apply conflict resolution. Conflict to me is something that I would like to avoid all together. Working at a senior living, I am the nurse manager, meaning I am in charge of the Certified Nurse Aids (CNAs). When going to work there are many tasks that I must complete during my shift and the last thing I want to add to it would be a conflict between the CNAs. Unfortunately, this happens more often than not. The types of conflicts vary including, intergroup, intrapersonal, and interpersonal conflicts. The most common type is interpersonal conflict which is a conflict between two or more people with differing values, goal, and beliefs (Marquis Huston, 2015). There has been hostility and arguing on the floor, and this cannot be tolerated or avoided. Regrettably, I have avoided a conflict and the work flow of the night was disrupted. Sir Francis Galton (1869, 1883) quantified traits that were assumed to be correlated, and developed the first comprehensive test of intelligence. By the end of the 19th century, the foundation was laid for modern day intelligence testing (Wicket, 1998). In 1905, the French psychologist Alfred Binet published the first modern intelligence test to identify students who needed special help in coping with the school curriculum (Neiser, et al. 1996). Shortly thereafter in 1908 and 1911, Alfred Binet and Theodore Simon published revisions of the Binet intelligence test (Wicket). The mental age concept was adopted to express the results in adequate units. The concept is based on an individual s performance in comparison to the average performance of individuals in a specific chronological age group (Kaplin, Saccuzzo). A further refinement of the Stanford Binet scale and translation (for American culture) was published in 1916 by Lewis M. Terman, who adopted Stern s proposal that an individual s intelligence level be measured as an intelligence quotient (I. Q.). The IQ score presumably represented an individual s rate of mental development as a quotient, between mental age and actual chronological age times 100 (to remove the decimal). First off, Melville can use simple words like, cautiously, animation, and excited, (Melville 3 4) but he mainly uses complex words such as, countenance, inarticulate, and convulsively (3 4). Furthermore, Melville seems to be very fond of using long sentences such as, Receiving the topmaul from Starbuck, he advanced towards the mainmast with the hammer uplifted in one hand, exhibiting the gold with the other, and with a high raised voice exclaiming: Whosoever of ye raises me a white headed whale with a wrinkled brow and a crooked jaw; whosoever ... Later on, it goes to say that Ahab feels, feels, feels, as proof that Ahab thinks with his heart and not his head. In addition, he also uses parallel structure to strengthen his writing style. For example, he says Cut your seizings and draw the poles, ye harpooneers! (11). Another example of parallel structure was, There s a most special, a most cunning, oh, a most malicious difference! • 21. Traditional Management Styles And Disciplinary Techniques... If you do that again, you will be in big trouble! This is an exclamation that is heard all around the world, in many different languages. It is heard in houses, schools, play groups, and many other places. It is said by parents and teachers alike. The problem with that phrase is the consequence. Alfie Kohn and Forrest Gathercoal are two experts in classroom management. They both believe that traditional management styles and disciplinary techniques need some adjustments. One can gather from reading both Kohn s and Gathercoal s works that there is quite a large amount of sense behind that and schools really should reexamine these practices. Kohn believes that many of the disciplinary methods used in today s schools do not create an ethical child. Kohn (2006) tells us, By contrast, ethical sophistication consists of some blend of principles and caring, of knowing how one ought to act and being concerned about others. Punishment does absolutely nothing to promote either of these things (p. 29). When children are disciplined, they will only remember that doing whatever the wrong thing was, has the effect of discipline. This will impair them later because they may not know why the action was wrong. It will not teach them right from wrong. Kohn (2006) also talks about coercion. The description used is, The most basic way to get what you want from someone, assuming you have more power than he does, is just to make him do it (Kohn, 2006, p. 22). It is argued ... Health care is rapidly evolving and continuing to complicate our delivery of care, which in turn has the same effect on quality of care. This steady evolution and change results in nursing shortages and an increase in the prevalence of errors being made. In hopes of preventing these errors and creating safe and high quality patient care, with the focus on new and improved ways of thinking, The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) initiative was developed. The QSEN focuses on the following competencies: patient centered care, quality improvement, safety, and teamwork and collaboration. Their initiatives work to prepare and develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes that are necessary to make improvements in the quality and safety of health care systems (Qsen.org, 2014). Question One Patient Centered Care Patient centered care refers to the view that patients and their family members are partners in developing a care plan. This stems from the belief that the patient is in control and that the care provided is rooted in respect that addresses the patient s personal needs and values (Barnsteiner Sherwood, 2012). Each of the three literary writings has a character that is considered rebellious within the norms of society. A rebellious person is someone who does not follow the rules that are given to them. On the other hand, the short story A P by John Updike and the play Antigone by Sophocles there is a conformist character which enforces the rules set in place, and a rebellious character which goes against the principles of society. Each author depicts a character to represent the conformist and rebellious individuals within today s society.
