Connections Essay Example
Writing an essay on the topic of "Connections" can be both challenging and rewarding. The
difficulty lies in the broad and abstract nature of the theme. "Connections" can encompass a
wide range of subjects, from interpersonal relationships to the interconnectedness of ideas in
various fields. The challenge is to narrow down the focus and provide a coherent and insightful
exploration of the concept.
One of the initial hurdles is defining the scope of the essay. The term "connections" is inherently
expansive, making it crucial to specify the context in which it will be examined. Whether it
pertains to social interactions, academic theories, or historical events, clarifying the boundaries is
essential to avoid a scattered and unfocused piece.
Furthermore, crafting a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay can be a
daunting task. The thesis should not only reflect the chosen angle but also set the tone for the
entire piece. It must articulate a clear argument or perspective on the concept of connections,
guiding the reader through a logical and coherent progression of ideas.
Another challenge is organizing the content in a way that is both engaging and informative.
Establishing a logical flow of ideas, transitions between paragraphs, and maintaining a balance
between depth and accessibility are crucial aspects of successful essay writing. Ensuring that
each paragraph contributes to the overall theme while maintaining unity and coherence is a
constant consideration.
Research also plays a vital role, especially if the essay requires supporting evidence or examples
to bolster the arguments. Conducting thorough research to find relevant sources and integrating
them seamlessly into the narrative adds another layer of complexity to the writing process.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Connections" demands careful consideration of
scope, a well-crafted thesis, effective organization, and thorough research. Despite the
challenges, successfully navigating these aspects can lead to a rich and insightful exploration of
the chosen theme.

Native Son Oppression
The Effects of Poverty and Oppression The novels Native Son by Richard Wright
and The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain both show the effects of poverty and
oppression. Both novels do so by showing its effects on poor people, rich people,
and the society in which they live. In Native Son, the main character becomes bitter
and violent as a result of the racism and oppression he lives under, very much like
John Canty in The Prince and the Pauper, who becomes a criminal and beats his son
because of his poverty. In both stories, the rich people benefit on the backs of the
poorer characters. In The Prince and the Pauper, King Henry VIII jails and kills
people based on their religion, while Mr. Dalton of Native Son profits off of forcing

He has spent so long fighting against his poverty that he has built up a tough wall
around him that ends up causing him to hurt other people. Likewise, many of the
prisoners in the jail where Edward stays in The Prince and the Pauper are very
casual about the injustices that they face while Edward is shocked at all the
terrible things that he was completely immune to as prince. This new knowledge of
Edward s is what seperates how he and Bigger end up at the end of their respective
novels. Edward was so naive that this knowledge came as a complete shock to him
and therefore it made a large impact on how he ruled once he became king. He
says, What dost thou know of suffering and oppression? I and my people know, but
not thou. (Twain 120), clearly thinking back on his experiences as Tom and the
people he met who were suffering and oppressed. Unfortunately, Bigger was not so
lucky as Edward. The mistakes caused by his social callous cause him to be
sentenced to death. Both characters are affected by their societal oppressions, yet
both deal with it in different way, which ends up leading to their vastly different

Education and the World Citizen
Education seems to be becoming more and more of a controversial subject not only
among government, but also with school boards, teachers, parents, and even the
students. Some of this controversy is attributed to the normal routine things such as
starting times, funding for clubs and sports, and more recently the rise of violence
in the schools, as well as outcries from the church for the return of religion in the
schools. However, people of today s society are even more confused by the recent
additions of new subjects not only the collegecurriculum but also in the curriculum of
grade schoolers as well. These additions include the study of non western cultures, the
study of women and ethnic minorities in the U.S., and finally the study of... Show

Nussbaum proves this to be true when she tells us about the University of Chicago
and how the chain link fence out back of the law school parking lot marks the line
between the university campus and the impoverished black community that

student, appears more than sufficiently equipped to deal with the educational aspect
of a person. Nussbaum, as well as Socrates, tend to think that the educational
background of the student as well as the curriculum they are taught effect the
outcome of the student as far as becoming a world citizen is concerned.
According to the World Citizen Organization, a world citizen is an inhabitant that
embraces all considerations... aware of the Global Learning Framework; including
perspective awareness, health of planet awareness, systems awareness, being
involved being prepared, and a life long learner aware of the inter connectedness of
all things; oneness, aware of environmental inter relatedness of the four E s:
economics, energy, ethics, and health, having a preferred worldviewВ… (5). It would
seem that there is a unifying theme amongst all of this that the world citizen is simply
a well rounded person who simply takes the time to learn about, and understand
others. Without education though, one cannot

The Education and Skills Needed to Become a Physicist
Essay
In the present, science has grown to become a great role in our lives. From gravity
to cloning, we can attribute many ordinary things in life that we know and understand
now to science. Physicists are the ones who study the structure of matter, space and
time. An example of a physicist would be Einstein or Newton. This paper will discuss
the education necessary to become a physicist, the skills that physicists need, the
earnings and the benefits/risks of the job, and my qualifications.
The education of a physicist start can start at any age, though it focuses primarily in
high school and up. All that one needs is creativity and curiosity to be devoted to
their pathway, which can be obtained as a imaginative child. From there, Dr. Michio

Though this doesn t mean that math is unnecessary. Being a physicist requires some
mathematical knowledge, specifically centered around Calculus. Along the way,
more science preparation may assist an upcoming physicist, from lab experiments to
spectating a research facility. Not everything a physicist does is incredibly
complicated from the start. As Einstein said, Behind every great theory, there is a
simple physical picture that even lay people can understand. If a theory does not have
a simple underlying picture, then the theory is probably worthless . This means that
everything worth studying is not difficult enough so that anyone should be
discouraged from becoming a physicist. That being said, the focus of job skills for a
physicist lies in the commitment to stick with the research and studies.
Depending on the skill level of each unique physicist, physicists can make anywhere
from a fair amount of money to no money at all. As Michio Kaku says:
Physicists do not become scientists for the money, so I don t want to downplay the
financial problems that you may face. In fact, many superstring theorists who could
not get faculty jobs went to Wall Street (where they were incorrectly called rocket
scientists ). This may mean leaving the field. (2)

Mount Olympus is known for its geographic location as well as the 12 Olympians.

Voice Of Voice Over Internet Protocol
Abstract
When Voice over Internet Protocol was being introduced, it was perfectly engineered
to work using the existing model and infrastructure without bearing huge cost. VoIP
uses Internet Protocol to connect, transmit and terminate the calls. Most of the
industry is using VoIP services to connect their offices locally, in different cities and
in different countries. VoIP enables User/client to place a telephonic call to their
offices/friends/families. This paper will focus on how VoIP works and what are the
security concerns. Also the industry s concern about Quality of Service (QoS) and
will discuss about threats in general.
Introduction
IP is used for data communication and for Voice Dialogue exchanged between two
parties, is also carried on the same data network. Data network could be a private
network (Local offices within a city or many cities in the same country/region and
also using IPLC s to connect other countries/continents) or on Internet by creating
Hard/soft VPN tunneling in between the offices. In general discuss it is considered
on the Internet only but it being used by creating point to point connect using
Wireless or only data connectivity between two office. Using Internet to transmit
VoIP traffic is very inexpensive as compared to Local data connectivity or using
your IPLC. Phone calls are placed using VoIP over any kind of data connectivity. The
simplest way of VoIP communication is, when both the parties can receive and make
calls using internet.

a licensed Social Worker and write an experience paper about the interview.
Finding a social worker to interview wasn t very hard for me because many of my
mother s friends got their masters in social work, but not many of them actually got
their license except for one of them. The licensed social worker that I interviewed
goes by the name of Tanya Hill. Tanya got her Masters of Social Work

University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2000, as well as her license and she now
resides in Panama City, Florida. Tanya is someone that I have known since I was a
little girl and someone that I definitely aspire to be like once I graduate. My
interview with Tanya was over the phone since I did not have time to drive back to
Florida to do a face to face one, but while we were on the phone every answer she
gave me to the questions I asked were quite interesting. The first questionI asked
during the interview was, How long have you been working with this agency? In
this field? Tanya s response was that she has been Self Employed for 16 years.
When I asked Tanya if the agency was public or private or a non profit or for profit,
she said that she was a for profit solo practitioner. Another question that I had to ask
her is, What population do you serve? , her response was Developmentally Disabled
Children and Adults. I ve always known that was the population that she served, but

Food Crisis By Edward Keller And Darcy Bender

December 17, 2015 FOOD CRISIS Food not only distinguishes and represents a
culture, but can also reflect one s personality, lifestyle, and socio economic status.
It is the rudiment of mankind and people cannot survive without it. Food crisis is
becoming increasingly severe in this days. Every 3.6 seconds, the time it takes
you to take a bite of food, a person dies of hunger or malnourishment (Vision).
Hunger is a problem that has been around since the beginning of time, but it is
everything but yesterday s issue. It is very real today and the numbers of starving
people are still growing. One would think this issue is because that there is not
enough food for everyone in the world, but there is more than enough to go
around. The global food crisis is unacceptable because it is caused by a number of
easily solvable problems. In the near future this is going to be a more dominant
critical issues which needs to be addressed and resolved. Significantly, there has
been nothing comparable to the 30 million or more who perished from starvation
during China s tragic Great Leap Forward (1958 1961). However, while India may
not be a starving country, large swathes of the population, especially children, are
still malnourished. India is the second largest country in the world in agricultural
produce with highest percentage of arable land area. It also ranks first in the gross
irrigated croplands.

Employee Attitude as a Function of Job Satisfaction
EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE AS A FUNCTION OF JOB SATISFACTION
Introduction There is confusion and debate among practitioners on the topic of
employee attitudes and job satisfaction even at a time when employees are
increasingly important for organizational success and competitiveness. Happy
employees are productive employees. Happy employees are not productive
employees. We hear these conflicting statements made by HR professionals and
managers in organizations. This research aims at establishing job satisfaction as a
basis for employee attitude; whether good or bad and we will do this by answering
three questions: What are the causes of employee attitudes? , What are the results of
positive and negative job reaction? and How can we measure... Show more content on

What is employee attitude? In other to have a panoramic understanding of this
terminology, a conceptual clarification would suffice. What is an attitude? An
attitude can be described as an expression of favor or disfavor towards a person,
place, thing or event which is as a result of either a negative or positive evaluation
of the object of affect. Employees have viewpoints about many aspect of their job,
career, Organization. The above explanation gives us the idea that attitude can
either be positive or negative. Thus employee attitude can be described as an
employee s expression either positive or negative towards his/her job, career or
organization. How then do we make a distinction between positive and negative
employee attitudes? Generally, It is in their promotion of organizational goals.
Therefore, positive employee attitudes can be said to be in agreement with
organizational goals thereby promoting it while negative employees can be said to
be against organizational goals thereby suppressing organizational goals. This
explains why employee attitude is easily cited as the number one performance
related issue of companies. From the perspective of research and practice, the most
focal employee attitude is job satisfaction. Thus, we often refer to employee attitudes
broadly in this article, although much of our specific focus will concern job
satisfaction. In the midst of all this, one little question crosses the mind; what are the
The Micro Environment Of Carlsberg Group
Micro environment analysis

purpose of discussing the micro environment here is to coordinate the relationship
between business and associated elements of microenvironment well in order to

Firstly we analyze the three different market regions of Carlsberg Group for
understanding the distribution of customers. From the report of annual report in
2014, we can see that beer volumes of Carlsberg were approx. 250m, 130m and 640m

In Western Europe, the main character of customers may be the well established
retail structures. With a strong tradition consumption in this region, we can observe
that Carlsberg is quite popular in Germany, Poland and The Baltics with a huge per
capita beer consumption. In the future, we could continue to pay more attention to
the customers in these areas. Meanwhile, due to the increasing populations and
income in Asia, the consumption of beers in this region contribute a large proportion
to the total volume. As emerging markets, we can predict that in the future Asia has
the potential to be a large group of consumers for Carlsberg

The Kinds Of Dogs
There are many kinds of dog breeds in the world. Dogs are known by people to be
a man s best friend. The reason is because they are loyal, playful, and in some cases
they even protect their owners from harm. Dogs are a very territorial animals so
they will do anything to protect and to keep any unwanted visitors out, whether it

The Fuel Of The Diesel Engine
The diesel engine has been the number one choice for power, reliable and high fuel
economy worldwide (Jääskeläinen, 2013). However, as petroleum becomes more
and more expensive, the new challenge that has been presented to todays society has
been to find a sustainable way to continue running these engines without relying on
diminishing petrol supplies (Connolly, 2013). The world has turned to biofuels; the
use of biodieselcan produce power, performance and economy, along with assisting
in the reduction of emissions and Greenhouse gases. However, its widespread use
has been halted due to the ethical issues surrounding its production. The use of
agricultural land for the use of bio fuels, detriments the mass food crisis and
insecurity that the world faces. Is it really ethical to be using bio fuels to cut carbon
emissions, which in turn could lead to millions of people in Asia starving to death?
The inventor of the diesel engine, Dr. Rudolf Diesel, first conceptualised Biodiesel
fuel in 1895. He generated and demonstrated a diesel engine that used peanut oil as
its main fuel source in 1900 at the Paris World Exhibition, as he viewed using
vegetable oil fuel as a means to provide economic growth in remote areas of the
world due to widely available agricultural crops as the source of the fuel (Diesel
Service and Supply, 2013). In Australia, the use of bio diesel in the transport industry
has been under much debate. Bio diesel is produced through a process knows as
The Government Of The People
Democracy is, and will always be, as one of America s past presidents Abraham
Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the
people, and for the people. The exact definition for democracy is a system of
government by the whole population of a state, typically through elected members.
The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers promoted has
shifted throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom
and liberty and many of these freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are
at risk of being stripped away, by the American government. America is no longer a
democracy, but it is an oligarchy. America is considered an oligarchy because of one
reason, and that reason is that power lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The
majority of the population in America belongs to the middle class. The preferences of
most American citizens have little impact on government. Instead, the responsiveness
of government is strongly tilted towards the most affluent citizens . Those who reap
the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S. supreme court justice, Louis
Brandeis, stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth
concentrated in the hands of a few, but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy
cannot coexist. It is true to say that since the founding of America, freedoms and
rights of all who have inhabited this land have greatly increased. However, in recent
years, these rights have
Persuasive Speech On Refugees
Good morning delegates of the youth parliament and observing members. Today I
stand before you to discuss an issue that continues to evoke high emotions and
create deep divisions within Australian society. I refer to the matter of refugees and
Australia s immigration policy. Not since the second world war has the world faced
such an upheaval with so many people displaced. In 2015 there were 65.3 million
people forcibly displaced from their homes because of conflict and persecution.
Developing countries hold 84% of refugees while wealthier countries like Australia
prioritise the need to reduce asylum seekers within their borders. The current policy
contravenes the proper treatment of refugees and asylum seekers; because regardless
of their mode of entry, once here Australia has a duty to provide protection.
International law under the 1951 Refugee Convention, permits the right to seek
asylum and allocates a responsibility to provide protection for those who lie under
the definition of refugee. Since then policies have been modified and used to suit
the interests of the government. In particular, the Border Protection Legislation
Amendment Act 1999. Authorised the removal of undocumented ships in
Australian territory and proclaimed that anyone aboard the ship can be forcibly
returned and denied application of asylum. Other legislation, such as the
Migration Legislation Amendment Act 1999 makes it illegal for a person to carry
people who are not citizens without valid documentation. These policies allow the
government to portray itself as strong on border protection and terrorism. This
plays well to its core constituencies but is rightly lambasted by human rights
organisations and civil liberty groups. Refugees are undocumented people fleeing
from their country of origin, so there isn t a variety of travel options to escape to
safety. The policy disclaiming that everyone who lands by boat doesn t get to stay
is ignorant to the concept of why people are forced to leave. It s not a choice to be
removed from your country, it s a matter of survival and safety. The core principle of
the Refugee convention is that people are not forced to return to a country where
they face the threat of persecution or danger.

David Hume s Theory of Ethics Essay
David Hume is considered to be one of the big three British empiricists, along with
Hobbes and Locke, and lived near the end of the Enlightenment. The Catholic Church
was losing its control over science, politics and philosophy and the Aristotelian world
view was being swallowed up by a more mechanistic viewpoint. Galileo found the
theory provided by Copernicus to be correct, that our earth was not the center of
everything, but the celestial bodies including the earth circled the sun.
Mathematicians abounded. Pascal developed the first mechanical calculator and
Newtonian physics was breaking new ground. Not even the arts were immune. Within
the same era Mary Shelley authored Frankenstein: or the Modern Prometheus. The
main theme for this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The latter being the kind that he uses as a naturalist.
David Hume s most famous quote is Reason is, and ought only to be the slave of the
passions, and can never pretend to any other office than to serve and obey them. To
understand the implications of this quote as a basis for an ethical theory you need to
understand that every other ethical theory attempts to derive how things ought to be
from how things are. The jumps from matters of fact and relations of ideas perceived
by reason, to value judgments perceived by emotions, are made in Hume s opinion
with no logical reason. There is nothing contradictory in the statement the sun will not
rise in the morning, it is not unreasonable. We only feel that it ought to continue
rising in the morning. The scientific method uses inductive reasoning to construct a
hypothesis and Hume does not contend that it should not be used. It has been useful
thus far in making predictions and it is the only tool that we have for understanding
the world around us.
David Hume s ethical theory sits between philosophy and modern day psychology. He
uses the empirical method to study the natural tendencies of human beings to engage
their emotions, and in our emotions is where morality could be understood best. One

Apple Inc. Company Analysis
When talking about Apple as a company, there is no doubt in regards to its brilliant
business strategies and how innovative it is. Apple Inc. was founded by Steve Jobs,
Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne in April of 1976. The company is one of the
number one market leaders in the technology industry with a revenue of more than
$500 billion in 2013. It was able to expand the business worldwide due to such a high
demand, which it now has more than 400 stores in more than 10 different countries.
The company is well known for continuous innovation through its products mix
include iPod, iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, iOS, and OS X operating systems, as
well as iCloud and other supporting offerings.
Despite the economy downturn in 2008, the company was still able to maintain its
profit and revenue years after that. According to Gamble and Marino (2013), The
record in growth in revenues and profits came primarily from volume increases in
the sale of iPhones and iPads, which increased by 142% and 183%, respectively,
from the same period in 2010. (Apple Inc. in 2011, p.350). How was Apple capable
of setting itself apart from rivals in order to maintain its position in the marketplace?
The answer lies on its leverage in creativity and products innovation. Apple is
extremely diversified in terms of the product lines as mentioned earlier, it s the
purpose and commitment in providing the most outstanding services and innovative
products.
Since day one, Apple has been able to set itself
Taking The Pestel Analysis Of Castrol
INTRODUCTION
Castrol is a British global brand of industrial and automotive lubricants offering a
wide range of oils, greases and similar products for most lubrication applications.
The Wakefield Oil Company was founded by Charles Cheers Wakefield in 1899. The
brand Castrol originated after researchers added castor oil to their lubricant
formulations. In 1966, Castrol was acquired by Scottish company Burmah Oil, which
was renamed Burmah Castrol. Burmah Castrol was purchased by London based
multinational BP in 2000.
Castrol offers lubricants for domestic, commercial and industrial applications. For

PEST stands for political, economical, social and technological factors. Two more
factors, the legal and environmental factor, are defined within the PESTLE analysis.
To explain these environmental factors, it is necessary to say that most of the factors
depend on each other and that they change over the years. Consequently, when one
factor changes it also affects the others. The equality for every company is the main
characteristic of the factors in an environmental analysis. The different environmental
factors are covered below.
пѓ Political and legal factors
Political and legal factors are here regarded as a unit. They refer to framework
given by politics. The exist regulatory or legal frameworks, which can be binding
for regions, nations or on an international basis. The frameworks deal with
economical issues or issues concerning the market. Subsidies for instance fall in the
category of economical issues. According to the degree of support through subsidies,

House Bill 2, people are now required by law to use the bathroom that corresponds

Eileen Fisher Case Study Essay
|
While reading through Eileen Fisher, Repositioning the Brand, it became apparent
early on that the company s main issue was relevancy an issue that many companies
face in today s market. Keeping the company current in order to attract new
customers while not abandoning already loyal customers in the process is a huge
challenge that EILEEN FISHER struggled with. For purposes of differentiating
between the company and the person, EILEEN FISHER shall refer to the company
for the duration of this analysis summary.
As a company that Fisher started from scratch, she seemed to gear the company
toward making clothes that she herself liked to wear, which is a perfectly fine
business model, but only to a certain extent. As she aged, so did ... Show more content

After IDEO s strategies were finalized, they were implemented during the 2009 fall
season via the STITCH project. Together, both companies decided that a holistic
approach would be the best way to revitalize the company, updating the company s
advertising aesthetic, changing in store visuals and merchandising, overhauling the
website, and embracing video as a communication medium in the process all of which
helped to attract a generally younger consumer.
While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online
sales both saw large increases after the change was implemented, the company itself
saw a decent amount of backlash from its already loyal clientele. Regular customers
felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the company s rebranding, stating
that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were implying that
the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an
already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of
responding to the criticisms.
Despite the negativity surrounding the brand repositioning, EILEEN FISHER
continued to embrace the change, narrowing down its potential customer base to three
categories: the established woman, the emerging woman, and the nascent woman.
The emerging woman seemed the most attractive consumer base to target,
An Indepth Look at Warfare in Medieval Japan in Joseph...
Joseph Conlans State of War; The Violent Order of Fourteenth Century Japan is an
depth look at Japans emerging warrior class during a time period of constant
warfare in Medieval Japan. His work however doesn t revolve around the re
fabrication and in depth analysis of battles sieged like many contemporary
examinations of wars and battles won and lost. Instead the author vies to navigate the
reader on journey into the warriorclass s lives and how they evolved through a
statistical analysis of records. This illustrates how warfare changed and transformed
with the constant evolving of the Samurai, but it also includes how their actions
affected their Political environment as well as the society in which they dwelled from
the bottom up.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the introduction, Conlan states; Warrepresents a process that encompasses all.
Rather than merely hastening change on a static state and society, war creates its
own particular and peculiar order. Nothing could be truer when looking at
fourteenth century Japan. War for the Political figures represented an opportunity
to further their control and power over society and the archepelego. For those in
political office, such as the Taisho and Shugo it was an opportunity to increase or
further their political and social economic benefits from their appointed positions.
For the middle class such as the Tozama (and their followers the Miuchi), Gokenin,
Myoshu and Hyakusho, who often had priority s not only of Monetary gain but
more in the ability to have the rights to their current land holdings confirmed and
the opportunity to possibly expand their wealth through the acquisition of property
from those of defeated enemies. Under whos command these warriors would fight
to acquire such means was often of little significance to them, so as long as they
were granted their lands as promised. Those leaders unwilling or unable to honor
such agreements often found their forces diminishing, as family and clan overseer
would often strike a new deal with the opposing forces leaders. Loyalty or Chusetsu
as it was called was a hard thing to find when everyone was trying to survive or get
ahead. In fact desertion for another s army was so common that the word treason
Essay about The Role of Minor Characters in Medea by...
As the famous Greek playwright Euripides once said: Stronger than lover s love is
lover s hate. Incurable, in each, the wounds they make. Such ideas are portrayed in
one of him most famous plays, Medea. This play is a fascinating classic centered on
the Greek goddess Medea. Despite its recent fame, during his time, Euripideswas
unpopular since he used what would be considered a modern view where he would
focus on women, slaves and persons from the lower classes. In the play, Medea
commits filicide, which initially appears extremely horrendous, but as the audience is
guided through the play, they develop sympathy towards Medea. In order to achieve
this empathy and enhance the understanding of Medea s pride and ideals, Euripides...

The Nurse is also presented as Medea s old friends even though she is a slave while
Medea is goddess. This representation of a friendship, which crosses social
boundaries, makes Medea seem fair and unbiased towards social classes unlike most
typical characters in this era where the social clashes would represent a huge problem.
Although the Children are not active characters, they still give us much insight into
Medea s character. Despite the children s fundamental role in the play, they are
rarely seen on the stage and have very few lines. This may be due to the fact that
children are very hard to control on stage, in most cases they simply do not have the
level of discipline required to act. Euripides makes up for this by manifesting the
presence of the children by always referring to them through other characters.
All of these minor characters encourage sympathy from the audience. The Chorus
portrays their compassion towards Medea as they say, I heard her voice, I heard that
unhappy woman from Colchis (p.21), they chiefly portray the extreme sadness and
discontent which Medea experiences and the extent of passion she has towards Jason.
Similarly, when the Nurse indirectly introduces Medea she first describes her by
saying:
But now her world has turned to enmity, and wounds her
Where her affection s deepest. Jason has betrayed
His own sons, and my mistress, for a royal bed,
For alliance with the king of

In the vignette My Name in the book Mango Street the author, Sandra Cisneros,

this vignette; it ties into many of the other vignettes, but in the vignette My Name

Sandra Cisneros also talks about how Esperanza s great grandmother was born in the

Bartle Hall Sky Stations Analysis
Bartle Hall Sky Stations
I grew up 85 miles northeast of Kansas City, Mo. in a small farming town. On the
special occasion that we would get to go to Kansas City (the city) it was a very
exciting thing for me. I ll never forget the first time I got to drive by downtown

Analysis Of The Poem My Words From The Village Of...
In Susan Stryker s My Words to Victor Frankenstein Above the Village of
Chamounix: Performing Transgender Rage , Stryker creates an intimate linkage
between Frankenstein s monster and the transsexual body. Like Frankenstein, a
transsexual person owns an unnatural body and an identity defined completely by
medical practice. And like Frankenstein, a transsexual person encounters countless
challenges, discrimination, and hatred from normal people. Normal people deem
transsexual existence as the embodiment of a monster which possesses an
unassimilable, antagonistic, queer relationship to a Nature (Stryker 5). However,
instead of running away, Stryker chooses to embrace co s transsexual identity and
lives in darkness with an identity of a seemingly cruel and despise able monster.
Stryker starts to pose a question that demands an answer: Is monster really inferior
than a human being, and does a natural body actually exist? . Most people would
not react positively to the words you are a monster! Because, let s face it, no one
thinks of monsters as beautiful creations, but as grotesque and defy the laws of
nature and God. However, in Susan Stryker s essay, co explores what it really means
to be a monster, applying this concept to transsexualism. Stryker argues that everyone
is monster, like Frankenstein, in their own way, as no one today is natural. Co says
that, [t]he transsexual body is an unnatural body. It is the product of medical science.

Enzyme Responsible For Regulating The Human Circadian
Clock
The specific topic being addressed by the members of this group is: Describe the
molecules responsible for regulating the human circadian clock and how they affect
metabolism in the human body. Be sure to address how the circadian rhythms are
governed, the signaling mechanisms used, and specific metabolic pathways. Note
you do not need to discuss each step in the metabolic pathway (e.g. you don t need
to describe all ten steps of glycolysis if that s a pathway that is affected,) but you
should identify where in the pathway the chronoregulators might be acting or what
molecules are being affected.

Introduction
Human behavior, though highly variable, tends towards a sleep cycle in which
roughly eight hours are spent sleeping after every sixteen hours awake. The repetition
of this cycle is the expression of the circadian rhythm. This paper investigates the
circadian rhythm by dividing it into three functions: an internal clock that estimates
whether it is day or night, an entrainment mechanism that adjust the clock to shifts in
day/night cycles, and a signaling method that determines whether the organism will
perform biochemical action appropriate to the clock s perception of daytime or
nighttime.
Discussion
Timekeeping
The master circadian clock is found in the anterior hypothalamus suprachiasmatic
nucleus. This region contains roughly 20,000 neurons arranged in clusters. These
clusters demonstrate low electrical potential activity at night and high electrical
potential activity during the day with a period of roughly 24 hours. This periodic
activity level mirrors the human circadian rhythm s tendency towards low arousal at
night
Francisco Pzarro Impact On Peru
When people think of Peru they don t imagine in depth about the exploration of
Peru and how it was cultivated as the country it is to this very day. One person
important to the findings of Peru was an explorer and conquistador that go by the
name of Francisco Pizarro and his exploration and conquering of Peru. The foundation
of the culture, such as traditions, customs, and religion during the findings of the
conquest are vital to knowing how this impacted Peru. Pizarro conquered the Inca
Empire with only two hundred men compared to the Incas that had thousands but the
culture of Peru still survived even after the conquest. The first two questions I asked

Rhetorical Analysis Of Albert Einstein s Letter
I believe that Einstein s letter was rhetorically effective because he employed all
the devices of Aristotelian triangle ethos, logos, and pathos. His purpose was to
address the question of a 6th grade girl, who wrote to him asking Do scientists pray,
and if so, for what? And his letter was sensitive to the age, maturity, and likely
religious viewpoint of his audience.Phyllis wrote to Einstein because he had a
reputation as a great scientist, arguably one of the finest minds of the 20th century,
who won the Nobel Prize in Physics. So Einstein did not have to establish his
credentials. He shows his knowledge of science. He speaks for scientists in general
based on the nature of science, and does not claim to speak for all scientists.

Comparing Synoptic Gospels, Mark, And Luke
When comparing the synoptic gospels and their parables and stories, you can see
similarities and differences between them. In the story of Jesus calming the storm
Matthew, Mark, and Luke all have their own take on the story. In each of these
books, it s clear they each have a few things in common, as well as key differences.
The similarities in the versions of the stories are obvious. In each book, it is seen
that Jesusand His disciples were on a boat. While on the boat Jesus proceeds to fall
asleep while a storm begins to wreak havoc upon the boat. In each the disciples are
concerned and scared, and ask Jesus a question relating to either saving them or His
concern for the disciples lives. In the end, each book tells how Jesus calms the storm
and questions the disciples faith. Finally, the awe the disciples had for Jesus was
illustrated in the story. Each of the synoptic gospels have this story with the following

The Chosen, By Chaim Potok is an interesting and thought provoking read, yet the
moral ideas and thought provoking actions of the characters in To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee, will leave a lasting impact on one s life. Throughout
both novels characters are forced to make important decisions and difficult choices.
The 2nd novelmentioned, To Kill a Mockingbird, stands out among the two due to the
type of moral choices expressed, the way that the book connects the reader with the
characters, and the many well written plottwists and story lines. The Chosen has most
of these attributes as well, yet the author did not express them nearly as well as the
author of the other novel. Both novels are marvelously written and carry important

An Inspector Calls
Question Title:
How does Priestley s presentation of the Inspector create dramatic tension in the play?
During the play An Inspector Calls the Inspector is used as a dramatic device. He
raises and decreases the tension due to his attitude, actions, speeches and his
symbolic role to the family, and audience at the time when the play was first
performed. Throughout my essay I will be examining how Priestley s presentation of
the
Inspector generates tension throughout the play.
Before the Inspector is introduced into the play, the atmosphere in the Birling s house
is quite relaxed. They ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This part of the play also shows that the family is not as happy as they first appear.
Birling, Gerald and Eric are humorously blaming each other for the Inspectors visit.
Gerald says: unless Eric s been up to something. and Eric replies with Here, what do
you mean?
These comments show the audience that the atmosphere is uneasy because the family
know that Eric is not perfect, but they don t directly address this, so treat it like a joke.
The Inspector s name and appearance immediately creates tension when he walks on
stage. The name Inspector Goole has connotations with eerie things and the
supernatural. The name Goole reminds me of ghosts, monsters, supernatural, mystery
and evil. Also the way he dresses and his demeanour puts everyone on edge. The
stage direction describes him by saying: creates at once an impression of massiveness,
solidity and purposefulness This Inspector would obviously intimidate the family
making them more tense around him.
Tension is raised at this part of the play when Birling says: Give us some more light.
This raises the tension because the atmosphere changes from calm and celebrating
mood to an uneasy mood with harsh lighting. The strong lighting would make this
part of the play seem more like a police interrogation at a police station. By changing
the intensity of the lighting the audience knows that the play is
Higher Education Essay
Higher Education Education is one of the key ingredients to building a strong
foundation for a successful future; there is not enough emphasis put on education at a
young age. Another question arises though, how hard should we push our children?
They are children after all. On the other hand an absence of interaction between
student and teacher may cause our children to grow up to become mindless drones.
There needs to be a student teacher relationship, not a dictatorship. Students are not
just vessels to be filled with knowledge; they are alive, and must be allowed to grow
on their own. Without interaction and life experiences, the materials that are taught is
stored, but not understood. We would do without thinking, feeling, and... Show more

No one way is more correct than another. If life was an equation we could solve,
then we, as a race, would never survive, people would not be able to adapt, and we
would be unable to make further progress. It is not ones ability to recall what has
been taught it is there ability to teach it to others. It is those people who know how to
use the knowledge bestowed on them that will survive. In Dewey s Thinking in
Education he speaks a lot of knowledge; he states that knowledgeВ… [is]
indispensable(305). Dewey puts a large emphasis on how knowledge is gained
through experience and not through reading textbooks alone. Experience alone is
a slow teacher, though in order to gain knowledge one must have the proper
foundation. That foundation starts with a proper education. Studying the past,
learning from it, and being able to use it. Newton did not just sit under an apple
tree and get hit by an apple to discover gravity. He used what he learned from
proper schooling as a foundation. If he did not have proper schooling, Sir Isaac
Newton most likely would have just been irritated for having just been hit in the
head with an apple. Not that Dewey is wrong though, one must have real world
applications for what they have learned. If you are able to apply what you have
learned in a real life situation, then you are being taught properly. No amount of
improvement in the personal technique of the instructor will wholly remedy the state
of things (303). A teacher

Connections Essay Example

  • 1. Connections Essay Example Writing an essay on the topic of "Connections" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the broad and abstract nature of the theme. "Connections" can encompass a wide range of subjects, from interpersonal relationships to the interconnectedness of ideas in various fields. The challenge is to narrow down the focus and provide a coherent and insightful exploration of the concept. One of the initial hurdles is defining the scope of the essay. The term "connections" is inherently expansive, making it crucial to specify the context in which it will be examined. Whether it pertains to social interactions, academic theories, or historical events, clarifying the boundaries is essential to avoid a scattered and unfocused piece. Furthermore, crafting a thesis statement that encapsulates the essence of the essay can be a daunting task. The thesis should not only reflect the chosen angle but also set the tone for the entire piece. It must articulate a clear argument or perspective on the concept of connections, guiding the reader through a logical and coherent progression of ideas. Another challenge is organizing the content in a way that is both engaging and informative. Establishing a logical flow of ideas, transitions between paragraphs, and maintaining a balance between depth and accessibility are crucial aspects of successful essay writing. Ensuring that each paragraph contributes to the overall theme while maintaining unity and coherence is a constant consideration. Research also plays a vital role, especially if the essay requires supporting evidence or examples to bolster the arguments. Conducting thorough research to find relevant sources and integrating them seamlessly into the narrative adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Connections" demands careful consideration of scope, a well-crafted thesis, effective organization, and thorough research. Despite the challenges, successfully navigating these aspects can lead to a rich and insightful exploration of the chosen theme. If you find yourself struggling with such essays or need assistance in crafting a well-researched and coherent piece, professional help is available. Similar essays and more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where expert writers can guide you through the process and deliver a customized essay tailored to your specifications. • 2. Native Son Oppression The Effects of Poverty and Oppression The novels Native Son by Richard Wright and The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain both show the effects of poverty and oppression. Both novels do so by showing its effects on poor people, rich people, and the society in which they live. In Native Son, the main character becomes bitter and violent as a result of the racism and oppression he lives under, very much like John Canty in The Prince and the Pauper, who becomes a criminal and beats his son because of his poverty. In both stories, the rich people benefit on the backs of the poorer characters. In The Prince and the Pauper, King Henry VIII jails and kills people based on their religion, while Mr. Dalton of Native Son profits off of forcing black... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He has spent so long fighting against his poverty that he has built up a tough wall around him that ends up causing him to hurt other people. Likewise, many of the prisoners in the jail where Edward stays in The Prince and the Pauper are very casual about the injustices that they face while Edward is shocked at all the terrible things that he was completely immune to as prince. This new knowledge of Edward s is what seperates how he and Bigger end up at the end of their respective novels. Edward was so naive that this knowledge came as a complete shock to him and therefore it made a large impact on how he ruled once he became king. He says, What dost thou know of suffering and oppression? I and my people know, but not thou. (Twain 120), clearly thinking back on his experiences as Tom and the people he met who were suffering and oppressed. Unfortunately, Bigger was not so lucky as Edward. The mistakes caused by his social callous cause him to be sentenced to death. Both characters are affected by their societal oppressions, yet both deal with it in different way, which ends up leading to their vastly different

  • 4. Education and the World Citizen Education seems to be becoming more and more of a controversial subject not only among government, but also with school boards, teachers, parents, and even the students. Some of this controversy is attributed to the normal routine things such as starting times, funding for clubs and sports, and more recently the rise of violence in the schools, as well as outcries from the church for the return of religion in the schools. However, people of today s society are even more confused by the recent additions of new subjects not only the collegecurriculum but also in the curriculum of grade schoolers as well. From gravity to cloning, we can attribute many ordinary things in life that we know and understand now to science. Physicists are the ones who study the structure of matter, space and time. An example of a physicist would be Einstein or Newton. This paper will discuss the education necessary to become a physicist, the skills that physicists need, the earnings and the benefits/risks of the job, and my qualifications. If a theory does not have a simple underlying picture, then the theory is probably worthless . This means that everything worth studying is not difficult enough so that anyone should be discouraged from becoming a physicist. That being said, the focus of job skills for a physicist lies in the commitment to stick with the research and studies. • 20. The Government Of The People Democracy is, and will always be, as one of America s past presidents Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The exact definition for democracy is a system of government by the whole population of a state, typically through elected members. The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers promoted has shifted throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty and many of these freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are at risk of being stripped away, by the American government. America is no longer a democracy, but it is an oligarchy. America is considered an oligarchy because of one reason, and that reason is that power lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The majority of the population in America belongs to the middle class. The preferences of most American citizens have little impact on government. Instead, the responsiveness of government is strongly tilted towards the most affluent citizens . Those who reap the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S. supreme court justice, Louis Brandeis, stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy cannot coexist. It is true to say that since the founding of America, freedoms and rights of all who have inhabited this land have greatly increased. However, in recent years, these rights have
  • 21. Persuasive Speech On Refugees Good morning delegates of the youth parliament and observing members. Today I stand before you to discuss an issue that continues to evoke high emotions and create deep divisions within Australian society. I refer to the matter of refugees and Australia s immigration policy. Not since the second world war has the world faced such an upheaval with so many people displaced. In 2015 there were 65.3 million people forcibly displaced from their homes because of conflict and persecution. Developing countries hold 84% of refugees while wealthier countries like Australia prioritise the need to reduce asylum seekers within their borders. The current policy contravenes the proper treatment of refugees and asylum seekers; because regardless of their mode of entry, once here Australia has a duty to provide protection. International law under the 1951 Refugee Convention, permits the right to seek asylum and allocates a responsibility to provide protection for those who lie under the definition of refugee. Since then policies have been modified and used to suit the interests of the government. In particular, the Border Protection Legislation Amendment Act 1999. Authorised the removal of undocumented ships in Australian territory and proclaimed that anyone aboard the ship can be forcibly returned and denied application of asylum. Other legislation, such as the Migration Legislation Amendment Act 1999 makes it illegal for a person to carry people who are not citizens without valid documentation. These policies allow the government to portray itself as strong on border protection and terrorism. This plays well to its core constituencies but is rightly lambasted by human rights organisations and civil liberty groups. Refugees are undocumented people fleeing from their country of origin, so there isn t a variety of travel options to escape to safety. The policy disclaiming that everyone who lands by boat doesn t get to stay is ignorant to the concept of why people are forced to leave. It s not a choice to be removed from your country, it s a matter of survival and safety. The core principle of the Refugee convention is that people are not forced to return to a country where they face the threat of persecution or danger.

The jumps from matters of fact and relations of ideas perceived by reason, to value judgments perceived by emotions, are made in Hume s opinion with no logical reason. There is nothing contradictory in the statement the sun will not rise in the morning, it is not unreasonable. We only feel that it ought to continue rising in the morning. The scientific method uses inductive reasoning to construct a hypothesis and Hume does not contend that it should not be used. It has been useful thus far in making predictions and it is the only tool that we have for understanding the world around us. He uses the empirical method to study the natural tendencies of human beings to engage their emotions, and in our emotions is where morality could be understood best. One must remember

Together, both companies decided that a holistic approach would be the best way to revitalize the company, updating the company s advertising aesthetic, changing in store visuals and merchandising, overhauling the website, and embracing video as a communication medium in the process all of which helped to attract a generally younger consumer. While Fisher herself saw the rebranding as a huge success as in store and online sales both saw large increases after the change was implemented, the company itself saw a decent amount of backlash from its already loyal clientele. Regular customers felt insulted at the apparent short sightedness of the company s rebranding, stating that by creating an edgier product for a younger consumer, they were implying that the older consumer has no edge, thereby alienating them in the process. Without an already well established social media presence, the company had no real way of responding to the criticisms. Despite the negativity surrounding the brand repositioning, EILEEN FISHER continued to embrace the change, narrowing down its potential customer base to three categories: the established woman, the emerging woman, and the nascent woman. The emerging woman seemed the most attractive consumer base to target,

His work however doesn t revolve around the re fabrication and in depth analysis of battles sieged like many contemporary examinations of wars and battles won and lost. Instead the author vies to navigate the reader on journey into the warriorclass s lives and how they evolved through a statistical analysis of records. This illustrates how warfare changed and transformed with the constant evolving of the Samurai, but it also includes how their actions affected their Political environment as well as the society in which they dwelled from the bottom up.... Rather than merely hastening change on a static state and society, war creates its own particular and peculiar order. Nothing could be truer when looking at fourteenth century Japan. War for the Political figures represented an opportunity to further their control and power over society and the archepelego. For those in political office, such as the Taisho and Shugo it was an opportunity to increase or further their political and social economic benefits from their appointed positions. For the middle class such as the Tozama (and their followers the Miuchi), Gokenin, Myoshu and Hyakusho, who often had priority s not only of Monetary gain but more in the ability to have the rights to their current land holdings confirmed and the opportunity to possibly expand their wealth through the acquisition of property from those of defeated enemies. • 29. Essay about The Role of Minor Characters in Medea by... As the famous Greek playwright Euripides once said: Stronger than lover s love is lover s hate. Incurable, in each, the wounds they make. Such ideas are portrayed in one of him most famous plays, Medea. This play is a fascinating classic centered on the Greek goddess Medea. Despite its recent fame, during his time, Euripideswas unpopular since he used what would be considered a modern view where he would focus on women, slaves and persons from the lower classes. In the play, Medea commits filicide, which initially appears extremely horrendous, but as the audience is guided through the play, they develop sympathy towards Medea. In order to achieve this empathy and enhance the understanding of Medea s pride and ideals, Euripides... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Nurse is also presented as Medea s old friends even though she is a slave while Medea is goddess. This representation of a friendship, which crosses social boundaries, makes Medea seem fair and unbiased towards social classes unlike most typical characters in this era where the social clashes would represent a huge problem. Although the Children are not active characters, they still give us much insight into Medea s character. Despite the children s fundamental role in the play, they are rarely seen on the stage and have very few lines. This may be due to the fact that children are very hard to control on stage, in most cases they simply do not have the level of discipline required to act. Euripides makes up for this by manifesting the presence of the children by always referring to them through other characters. All of these minor characters encourage sympathy from the audience. The Chorus portrays their compassion towards Medea as they say, I heard her voice, I heard that unhappy woman from Colchis (p.21), they chiefly portray the extreme sadness and discontent which Medea experiences and the extent of passion she has towards Jason. Similarly, when the Nurse indirectly introduces Medea she first describes her by saying: But now her world has turned to enmity, and wounds her Where her affection s deepest. Jason has betrayed His own sons, and my mistress, for a royal bed, For alliance with the king of

Like Frankenstein, a transsexual person owns an unnatural body and an identity defined completely by medical practice. And like Frankenstein, a transsexual person encounters countless challenges, discrimination, and hatred from normal people. Normal people deem transsexual existence as the embodiment of a monster which possesses an unassimilable, antagonistic, queer relationship to a Nature (Stryker 5). However, instead of running away, Stryker chooses to embrace co s transsexual identity and lives in darkness with an identity of a seemingly cruel and despise able monster. Stryker starts to pose a question that demands an answer: Is monster really inferior than a human being, and does a natural body actually exist? . Most people would not react positively to the words you are a monster! Because, let s face it, no one thinks of monsters as beautiful creations, but as grotesque and defy the laws of nature and God. However, in Susan Stryker s essay, co explores what it really means to be a monster, applying this concept to transsexualism. This reveals the need for further study of Q. Introduction Human behavior, though highly variable, tends towards a sleep cycle in which roughly eight hours are spent sleeping after every sixteen hours awake. The repetition of this cycle is the expression of the circadian rhythm. This paper investigates the circadian rhythm by dividing it into three functions: an internal clock that estimates whether it is day or night, an entrainment mechanism that adjust the clock to shifts in day/night cycles, and a signaling method that determines whether the organism will perform biochemical action appropriate to the clock s perception of daytime or nighttime. Discussion Timekeeping The master circadian clock is found in the anterior hypothalamus suprachiasmatic nucleus. This region contains roughly 20,000 neurons arranged in clusters. These clusters demonstrate low electrical potential activity at night and high electrical potential activity during the day with a period of roughly 24 hours. This periodic activity level mirrors the human circadian rhythm s tendency towards low arousal at night

Dewey puts a large emphasis on how knowledge is gained through experience and not through reading textbooks alone. Experience alone is a slow teacher, though in order to gain knowledge one must have the proper foundation. That foundation starts with a proper education. Studying the past, learning from it, and being able to use it. Newton did not just sit under an apple tree and get hit by an apple to discover gravity. He used what he learned from proper schooling as a foundation. If he did not have proper schooling, Sir Isaac Newton most likely would have just been irritated for having just been hit in the head with an apple. Not that Dewey is wrong though, one must have real world applications for what they have learned. If you are able to apply what you have learned in a real life situation, then you are being taught properly. No amount of improvement in the personal technique of the instructor will wholly remedy the state of things (303). A teacher
